This is a tough one for me. The service is 5 stars fo sho... and it'd better be for the price! We all know steak houses aren't cheap but you should expect to spend about $100 per person for a (singlular) drink, a steak and sides and appetizers for the table.
I will say that my 3 star rating has much more to do with my expectations than my experience at Fleming's. You see, I don't mind paying good money for good food and I do so with regularity. However, this was my first high end steakhouse experience and I was expecting something life changing. What I got was a great steak. I suppose I'd always thought there was some magic in the kitchen's of storied steak houses but after this meal I have concluded that they just buy the best beef (which you can also find in the high end butcher shops in town) and cook it at super high temperature (one you can coe close to replicating with the right cookware at home). That's it. No fairy dust or pulverized platinum necessary.
With that out of the way, you can expect to get the excellent service that you are paying for. Our server was supremely attentive and accommodating. We were there for the boyfriend's mother's birthday and the restaurant took a picture of us to remember the occasion and presented the picture later in the evening along with a complimentary box of truffles.
If you are looking for a memorable dining experience with great steak and have a some extra cash, check out Fleming's.
Was here the other day for a company sponsored dinner. Â So the menu was limited to chicken, steak or salmon. Â I went with the steak and it was perfect. Â It was cooked just as I ad asked, and was still sizzling on the plate when it was brought to my seat. Â
The sides were creamed spinach, which was mostly cream and not spinach, and mashed potatoes. Â The potatoes were nothing special, but they were good. Â
The service overall was very good for the venue owns in. Â The waiter came over and asked us prior to the presenter starting how we would like the group to be served. Â It was a team effort and they all did well. Â There were one or two of the customers who did have an empty wine glass, but it was never empty for long.
This was my first experience at a Flemmings....and it lived up to its reputation.
This is another chain restaurant that is convenient, and I fancy. Their happy hour menu is very gratifying and affordable. http://www.flemingssteak… I love to sit in the quaint bar area, or on the patio; this alleviates some of the stuffiness of the main dining area. The 2-3 bartenders on duty take very good care of all of your needs; they are veryknowledgeable, and friendly.
Review Source:yet another visit to this fine steakhouse.. I must report, great service, from the front door to the waiter and all staff. Food was excellent, very tasty and perfect. Get the lava cake for desert it was yummy! Wine suggestion was excellent and very budget friendly from our waiter. Treat yourself and head out to Flemmngs soon!
Review Source:I usually avoid chain restaurants like the plague but this place is most certainly an exception to my rule!
The service and quality of the food is "last meal on Earth worthy"! Â I took my partner for his 30th birthday and our server Johanna treated us like it was her only table all night. Â The manager Nick, stopped by twice to check on us (in a genuinely concerned manner). Â At the end they gave my partner a box of chocolate truffles (as good as any I've had from high end chocolatiers!) and a gift card for future use as gift!
I don't want to make this too long, but this is my favorite place to go after only two visits. The first time, they blew us away with their attentive service, the decor and the ambience. Our food was served wrong, so they fixed all of it again, gave us a gift card and truffles. That alone brought us back, and again we were blown away. The staff is amazing and the steaks are the best I have ever had. It is priced into our "splurge" zone so I doubt my boyfriend and I will be going here on a regular basis, but it is worth the price and we will be trying to go whenever we can. I tell everyone about Fleming's and can't wait to return.
Review Source:Honestly, I love pretty much everything about Flemings. The service at the bar is always amazing and Luke and Mark really know their food and wine inside and out. Have never had a bad waiter in the dinning area either. Â The only reason I would give them 4 stars as opposed to 5 is simply because I was completely underwhelmed with the filet. I have had the rib eye and the kobe (special) and have never been disappointed, but last night everything in our meal was exceptional with the exception of my filet. Â That being said the filet small plate - sliced filet on a bed of porcini infused risotto, was out of this world. Â If you are going to the Flemings in Richmond - I highly recommend a glass of the Masi, or the Vall Llach - priorat. Also I would highly recommend the rib eye - charred medium rare. At the end of the day Flemmings is a great experience every time, and something we always look forward to.

In between dinner and dessert, your server wipe the crumbs up and clean your table .For deseert,I was giving a key lime pie with a candle in it for my birthday.I'm a sucker for dessert and the key lime pie was delicious. The atmosphere was professional and romantic.Just before leaving,my server gave me a gift card,a box of chocolate truffles, and a birthday card. This birthday was memorable for me,thanks to Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.This was my first time at Fleming's and I'll definitely be back! Review Source:Went here for my birthday. While making reservations on fone, they asked if I'm celebrating a special occasion, and I say yes. When we got there, we were promptly seated (Sunday night, very few tables were filled). Our server Josh, was amazing. Wished me a Happy Birthday. We did the pre-fix menui. $39,99 for soup or salad, 9 oz rib eye steak and a dessert. French onion soup was good, my husband got tomato and mozarella salad, fresh. Steaks were OK. A little fatty, not much to our liking. For desser, I got the strawberry tiramisu, and my husband got the Chocolate Molten cake. Choc molten cake was to die for. When they brought out my dessert, there was a candle on it. Also, they gave me a Happy Birthday card with a $25 gift card for dining next time. The chef also send a box of chocolate truffles. And the best touch was, Josh took a picture of us on a digi cam, and at the end he printed it and put it in a nice frame for us. Just amazing.
Loved the service and will definitely go back again.
Myhusband joked that for men who don't take much trouble for their wives, bring them to Flemings. They will be treated like princesses and you won't need to do much...except for pay of course!
This is our regular "special" night out. Flemings at the Stoney Point location consistently delivers a good meal with outstanding service. It can be pricey, so be prepared to pony up, but you really do get good value for your money when you consider the high quality food is combined with an excellent wine list and great service. We have been going there now for several years and I always notice the "regular" staff, which is to say that they are well trained and stay on the job.
We started out sharing the Lobster Tempura which I absolutely loved. My wife thought it was a little greasy, but she ate it as it was delicious. I ordered a filet and it was prepared perfectly, although, my wife ordered the Shrimp Scampi with the sauce on the side and it was served with the sauce over top. So back it went, along with my steak, and we waited until another could be prepared.
Following dinner - and really the main reason we love Flemings, we shared the Chocolate Lava Cake, which is always amazing. I would highly recommend it.
So dinner with a shared appetizer and dessert came to $114 tax included. This did not include wine or drinks - so it can be pricey. What really helps is that for special occasions they often will provide a $25 gift card to be used when you return, so in effect, they are offering us a 10% discount on both meals, which helps.
The only issues with this visit was that they dinner was served with the sauce and a mistake was made on the bill. Not enough to really complain, but I will be watching closely next time.
Loved our waiter! Â This was a very positive experience, from the standpoint (or sitpoint) of our initial greeting, service, attitude, food and surroundings, ... albeit a little too noisy. Â Our waiter made the evening special as he sought to please us in every way, including begging to re-do a piece of meat that was cooked slightly beyond the diner's expectation. Â But even with this and the attempt to serve us bottom-of-the-pot coffee (our waiter would not have done that; there were a host of assistants for him), the evening was a good one that leads us to plan a return visit.
Review Source:Wow... Took wife here for 22 wedding anniversary tonight and must say it was well worth it.. Had Prime Ribeye and wife Main Lobster.. Bob (waiter) was on point the whole night from his wine recommendation to prompt/attentive services... Â Food was cooked to perfection and wine was excellent..
Review Source:We came here for my birthday this year and got the memorable meal for two for $99. It's a "3-course dinner for two, featuring Beef Flemington and Sautéed Jumbo Shrimp for each of you, plus salad, sides and dessert." Â
Every bite was fantastic. Â We ooohd and ahhhhd over every course. Â Both of our steaks were a little too rare... which for me, means it was basically raw, since i don't mind a really rare steak. Â I've read other reviews here say their steaks were overdone, so i'm not sure what to say about that. Â could be a sign of inconsistency. Â In any case, aside from the extra rare steaks, which were still yummy anyway, we had a really really nice time here.
I would also say that this restaurant is kind of noisy. Â They could use a little acoustical treatment I think. Â The kitchen is wide open to the rest of the restaurant, which is cool - you can see the hustle and bustle of the kitchen staff, but I think it adds to the noise level in the room. Â
Easily 5 stars if it wasn't so loud. Â The real star at flemings is the service. Â We got fantastic service. Â We let them know it was my birthday when we made our reservation, and they gave us a super decadent chocolate cake for 2 to take home with us.
There's a small plates menu, and a 6$ happy hour apps menu that i'd like to go back and explore, so I think we'll probably return.
My husband and I are regulars at Flemings - we enjoy the fact that they treat us as such. The food is very good and we can count on them to provide good service, a quality meal and leave us to our date night.
I also hosted a very large business event at Flemings and would recommend them for that service as well.
Went to this establishment for the very first time recently to celebrate my birthday. Â My wife and I were quickly seated, the server introduced herself and advised us of that evening's specials.
The wine selection was good and the complimentary bread and corresponding spreads were very good. My wife and I both had the steak and were pleased at how well it was cooked to our desired temperature, tasteful, and timely.
This restaurant takes great pride in making sure that a special occasion does not go un-recognized. Since it was my birthday, I received a birthday card from my server at the end of the evening and because we were too full for dessert, they sent us home with a box of their homemade chocolate truffles. A touch I felt was unique.
I've been to dozens of nice steakhouses, both chain (like this) and unique, in a number of east coast cities. Â With the "Richmond" (suburban shopping mall) Fleming's, I wasn't impressed.
Most importantly, what steakhouse overcooks its steaks? Â On the server's recommendation (actually, a confirmation of my inclination), I ordered a filet medium-rare. Â Instead, it came out somewhere between medium and medium well, with the center only barely pink (and not red at all). Â Our barbecued salmon steak (though sizable) was also overdone and dry.
While our server was attentive (especially since one member of our party was a bit demanding on the questions/exceptions), I found him to be a "hoverer". Â At a restaurant of this advertised caliber, I expect the serving staff to be around right when I want them and gone when I don't. Â Instead, the guy was just always there, standing a tad too close to our table and too-frequently asking us if we were done with each course (when our plates clearly had food on them). Â The restaurant wasn't short for available tables, and it was 7pm on a Sunday -- there was no reason to rush us.
In the end, the lava cake dessert was good, as were their specialty spicy "Fleming's" potatoes and asparagus. Â And the manager, without any prodding, surprised us by entirely removing the overcooked steak from our bill when it came.
I heard great things about this place, but when 2 of my friends and I went there, it was not so great. My order was medium rare steak and was cook right and it was good, my friend who order a medium steak ended up with really well done steak . My other friend who got a salmon ended up with a burnt one, which she has to send back for a new one which then was now not fully cooked. For the price and ratting of the place I would had expected better.
Review Source:Simply the best.... Everything was great from the food to the service. Dale made the night. from the start he made us feel welcome. even went so far as to make sweetened tea when it wasn't on the menu. Dale never was overbearing but was always close by if we needed anything.
he was able to turn a rotten day into a great night. If you decide to eat here ask for Dale he is the best!
Yes, Fleming's is a national chain, but it's done a very good job of creating a strong presence on the Richmond scene. They have a very good event planner and host lots of special wine events, as well as private events.
The decor manages to be both warm and modern. Think dim, inviting lighting, big, cozy booths and a spacious patio. Service is very good. You usually get one waiter and an assistant. If you make advance reservations, they call you by name.
Your meal usually starts with a complimentary selection of crostini and house-made spreads. They're always delicious. Any salad or appetizer I've ever ordered has been delicious as well. The Sweet Chile Calamari is well seasoned and flavorful. The seared ahi tuna is also very good.
For the main course, steak is king. I generally go petite filet, medium rare. It's always cooked just right. Seared on the outside and pink in the middle. The mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, onion rings and grilled high country asparagus all make great sides. Sides here are served in table-size portions, so keep this in mind when ordering.
If you're in the mood for something sweet, you have to order the Chocolate Lava Cake. It's a fantastic indulgence of rich chocolate cake with a molten chocolate center served with vanilla ice cream and pistachios. Have your waiter pair it with a port for a fantastic dessert.
Speaking of port, the wine list here is amazing. There are lots of by-the-glass choices and I like creating my own wine dinner here with lighter wines to start the meal and bold reds to go with the main course.
People usually think of Fleming's as a place to go for an upscale meal, but the restaurant also serves a very affordable happy hour. Monday through Friday you can get 5 select wines, 5 cocktails and 5 appetizers for $6 each until 7 p.m. It's a great way to enjoy Fleming's nice atmosphere and great appetizers at a more affordable price.
If you like the restaurant, make sure to sign up to be a Friend of Fleming's. You'll get special restaurant deals and invites to special events.
I really wanted to give it 5 stars. Big Time! But I ordered my steak medium rare and it came to me almost well done. I wanted to send it back but didnt want to make a scene in front of my co workers so I went with the flow and ate it.
It was actually pretty good. All the sides served were excellent. Even the football sized potato was very good.
I ve never had lobster before, this is my first time trying it here and Im glad Flemings popped my cherry. Â The seafood "tower" was filled with fresh shrimp, crab, crab legs and oysters.
All in all a good experience, service was excellent. I even remember his name..
Spending most of my time in New York, and being used to some of the best steaks i have sunk my teeth into, i decided to give Fleming's a try on a recent visit home. I'd heard it has some of the best steaks in Richmond.
That part is probably true.
I had a ceasar salad appetizer, which was fairly good. For my cut, i ordered the Filet, medium. For sides we ordered the snap peas and creamed corn.
The sides were pretty good, the creamed corn may have been a bit too creamy, but over all they were good sides. They have a diverse selection of sides, which i appreciate. I'm not a baked potato fan and sometimes asparagus gets old.
The filet was very tender and juicy, yet slightly overcooked. Just a bit above medium, which wasn't a dealbreaker on the steak, i would just prefer a solid medium, or a tad bit undercooked. I don't generally order medium rare.
However, where Fleming's killed me was the was the ambience. Interior was quite nice, classy. Service, pretty good. What was wrong ? The music. Yeah - they were playing new pop / top 40 crap. I kid you not. And nothing irritates me more as i'm drinking my piedmonte red wine with a juicy filet than listening to Blink 182 or some other music that i don't even feel should have been released. I seriously felt like i was a high schooler who snuck out with my parents car to go meet my friends at TGI Friday's. It really was a big downer on my dining experience. I complained to the manager and he stated it was Fleming's requirement - all restaurants play the same station, and that he hears a number of complaints about it each week.
Suggestion to Fleming's - cut that god-awful music out, or even better, replace it with something a bit classier.
