I don't usually get mixed drinks so rating bars comes down to service, cleanliness, and sometimes food. That last one is what gives Fly the 4th star.

Their Happy Hours for drinks are more of a smirk than a smile ($1 off drafts) but their pizza ($6 at happy hour) is delicious and probably one of the best happy hour deals around. While not on the specials list  - get the nachos. This was probably the single best plate of nachos I have ever had. Get them and thank me later.

For the other stuff, the bar is clean and the servers are friendly. Last time the nachos tool way to long to come out but again, they were so worth it, it doesn't matter.

Stumbled in to Fly Bar one recent Sunday for something to eat. It didn't disappoint. I had the La Tortilla salad and my BF had the Greek pizza. Both were delish. Bartender was gracious and friendly even though she was the only person working. She was bartender and waitress and did it all with a smile.

They have many great beers on tap and clientele always mixed and low key

Prices seemed fair to me. We will be back.

So far best place I've been to for Happy Hour in the City.

    $1 off draft beer
    $3 sangria
    $1 off sake cocktails
    $5.95 pizzas

Couldn't resist having a sake cocktail. Same with the pizza! My girl ordered The Funky Chicken and I ordered South Western. I loved both, but The Funky Chicken was my favorite between the two. We also ordered their sangria. It was good too, but next time I'll stick to sake cocktails (I'm more of a sake fan).

Came here with a very lovely lady date and we had a great time :)

Ambiance was really nice. I kind of felt like I was in a kid's dream or something. There were lots of lights shaped like stars and the cieling was billowy with blankets. It was very dreamy and also quite fun. The strong presence of red everywhere made it kind of sexy... Like a sexy child's dreamy dream. Hmm. Maybe I'll rethink that analogy.

I had the margarita pizza and my friend had the grilled cheese sandwich. We also both got some saketinis, which were AWESOME. The food was great, too! I ate all of it haha, I was hungrier than I thought. We also split a pitcher of Sangria (which I didn't realize would get me as drunk as I was that night, yikes). All in all, it was a great experience.

The crowd here is pretty chill. Local crowd, lots of plaid, lots of beards, not skeezy at all. It just seems like a cool place to go with a couple friends and grab a nice drink.

Interesting mix drinks using Sake and Soju as their base. Definitely strong in alcohol flavor but tasted the way it was described.

Duvel on tap A+! Pool table at the very back, friendly and attentive wait staff

    Overall Thoughts

Would come back if I was ever in the area and looking for a place to hang out while waiting for food

Cool vibe. Great local crowd. Good food. I love this bar!

I had the sake cosmo and it was great! The sangria was ok but it didn't have any fruit. The pizza and the spinach/artichoke dip were both delicious!

Always a great place to come for a quick drink or two. Good selection of wine and beer. When feeling a little frisky I recommend the sake bombs! Hot sake and pear cider = delicious! Love it! Staff are pretty great and just friendly good people.

With the appearance of dark and sexy from the outside, I had high hopes for Fly Bar, but anything I ordered with bourbon or whisky just fell flat; they were either too watered-down or sugary. My companions' beers were all pretty solid; that's definitely the thing to order in the future.

Food-wise, the quesadilla and homemade guacamole is tasty as hell. Neighboring tables seem to all indulge in the hummus and pizzas, which looked way too enticing.

The redeeming part about the bar? Amazing music! They us Pandora to man the playlist and it had has singing along like it's karaoke hour at your local joint.

The vibe is good - kind of SF partial divey but fun. I think they could improve their beer selection (especially draft) but it is still ok.
The reason for the review however is the Tuna Melt. Shout out! I ordered it not expecting much since Tuna Melts are almost always underwhelming. The tuna salad is almost ALWAYS lukewarm or even cold somehow even after sitting on a hot grill. Not here. this is certifiably the first place I have EVER been to that had the tuna filling piping hot in the melt! I was stunned! It was quite good and came with a very nice lightly dressed salad also instead of artery clogging fries. Perfect and I'd definitely go back.

For a place without a hard liquor license, Fly Bar is surprisingly awesome. It's in the somewhat hipster neighborhood of NoPa (North of the Panhandle), so getting there can be a little sketchy (which is s what makes it cool). The decor inside is really loungey - red walls with random art. It's a small place that doesn't seat many people, but I was there for an engagement party, so we took up half of the tables in the location.

We got to sample the pizzas, which were really nice; they looked and tasted a lot like CPK-style pizza, which is fine by me. I was starving, so I also ordered the Foghorn Leghorn sandwich. It was soooo good! The Foghorn Leghorn has chicken, bacon, guac, and other delicious things that came on delicious bread. To drink, I had a sake madras (oj & cran). It was pretty tasty.

The crowd was somewhat mixed in age, gender, and hipster status. The music was really great. It seemed to mostly consist of good quality, less-than-mainstream 90s and 00s hip-hop. I'd visit again for sure.

This location is pretty chill for the most part. I like to come here to BS with friends. It doesn't get too packed and there aren't many douchey people there. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Needs a good cleaning, though.

Came in here cuz it was the only bar opened at noon. We ordered 2 beers. Unfortunatly for us, the bartender tells us there was a fire the night before and their water has been shut off so would we mind having our beers in red plastic cups? Well of course not. Until every other person who walked in after us were given their draft beers in a nice cold glass cup.

    Weak.

My 1 star goes to the liquor store across the street.

Great place for many reasons: the 'shroom pie is DELICIOUS, they have a great selection of beer, they have sake bombs "for yer face hole", and the service is absolutely wonderful.  Every time I go there I see there are a lot of locals who stop by, very laid back environment and the servers and bartenders are very attentive. I do, however, have to say Caitlin is amazing. I walk in after work on weekdays and she immediately asks if I want a beer.. or sake bomb. Red chair, great. Sake Bombs... I don't like any other sake bombs unless I have them here. All the servers make great suggestions if I can't decide and I've noticed they really know their regular patrons. Names, dranks, foods... pool table, television and a huge ass mirror. Yes to all of it.

This place is dope. I love the small, intimate setting at this location rather than the larger social one in the TL. The bartender here was really pleasant and pretty attentive, he convinced my friend and I to try the Sake mixed drinks despite our hesitation. They were delicious, we each had 3! My mother later joined us and she thought the place was so cool and had a lot of character. She never goes to bars so this was right up her alley because it was a lot nicer, had nibbles and cute atmosphere for conversation and girls night.

We nibbled on the "Chick Stix" with the peanut sauce and it's house made and soooo yummy. That was my mom's favorite part of the night! Definitely going to come here again, great location because it's right near the Independent where we were seeing a show. So nice to chill here instead of standing in the cold waiting!

4 stars is for the AMAZING sangria...get it, you have to.

Mmmm meat pizza was delicious and for 5.95 during happy hour, can hardly beat it!

I came in midday and it was empty. It looked like a hipster spot but I'm not sure how it is at night.

I'll be back for the sangria that I still can't stop thinking about.

I haven't tried any of the food here, but drink-wise, this is a bar that doesn't have liquor. Their beer selection is quite extensive, but I would prefer some hard alcohol too since it is a bar. Seating here is pretty easy to grab, and there's a pool table in the back. The people are fairly hipster, and the music is eclectic, to say the least. That's definitely two strikes.

I've always loved this bar.  A five minute walk from home, and I love the dark and seductive atmosphere, the menu, as well as the art on the walls. Friendly wait staff and patrons and ample places to congregate. I don't drink (anymore) due to a medical condition but I remember their cocktails being strong and their sangria was amazing. This is the perfect place to come with a date or with a group. They have a pool table as well for those pool afficianados among us. Bravo, Fly Bar!

My boyfriend lives right around the corner, so this has become our go to place for reasonably priced and a good selection of beer/wine/sake and small bites.  The selection of beer on tap is great for such a small place, and I tried my first unfiltered sake here (very milky, not my thing but it was cool to do). I've had the chick stix (pretty standard, can't really mess that up), the thai basil chicken pizzetta (lacked strong flavor and my boyfriend was not a fan of the salad on top), the carmel blue pizza (really really good and garlicky if you're into that type of thing), the blanco, and the funky chicken pizzas (both of which were good as well).  I've also tried bites of the black forest ham and brie sandwich and liked that as well.

Fun casual bar that's a great place to grab food & drinks or just hang out with friends when you don't feel like venturing far.  Really glad their dishwasher is working again and the Solo cups are gone :)

Sake and Soju drinks are SOOOO worth it!!!! Soju redbull was one of my favs :)

Food...the pizza is not too bad. I've tried the Mediterranean, South Western, Blanco, and the Funky Chicken and if you are a fan of cheese, the BLANCO is the best pizza!!!!

p.s. The stars on the ceiling are SO CUTE! I love the decor!

The 4 stars is for how affordable everything is.  Met the owner and he's a great guy.  Food is flavorful and the sangria wasn't overly sweet.  A true hang out spot.

We were in the area and famished. $3 sangria for happy hour pulled me in. It was good, and came out of a huge fruity bucket. Mushroom pizza was pretty good too, and filling! Sharing the pizza and a sangria each made the 2 of us nearly uncomfortably stuffed.

Best part.. I loved the bartender! I don't even know why, she was just so sweet. Nice place to come, with a date, with friends, or even on your own.

I learned last night that the bathroom at Fly Bar is a pee only bar.  Nevermind that there is a toilet and not a trough.  Nevermind that there is a lock on the door.  If you have to do business other than tinkle, you must run to the Popeye's.  But Fly Bar didn't tell me this.  No, these tacit rules to the potty were communicated through the door by a gentleman too cowardly to say these words to my face.  To you sir, I hope one day you need a spot for your rump and suffer to find one.  Ok, my rant about bar bathrooms and the drunk patrons who lurk outside them is over.

So Fly Bar has terrific sangria and it comes in pitchers for only $20.  The lighting is great.  It seems to be busiest in the early evenings and tapers off post-dinner.  I don't come to the Divis  Corridor often, but Fly Bar is my go to spot for a drink.

$6 pizzas, $3 sake cocktails and $3 sangrias during Happy Hour! Couple that with a fun eclectic hipster crowd and you've got yourself a fun post-work venue.

Also, the service is fabulous and ambiance is true to what one would expect from a fun and casual SF bar scene. It's a definite must-visit when you're in the NOPA neighborhood.

Every Tuesday night a large group of my friend's head to Fly Bar for Mangorito Tuesday (not a real event, but a long standing tradition). We take up a few too many tables and order too many pitchers of sangria. Fly Bar isn't technically allowed to serve hard liquor, so their mangoritas employ soju. At first it was a bit odd to me, but I got over that quickly.  And I definitely suggest trying the sangria.

I've tasted quite a few items off their dinner menu and was happy with the food.  I'm a fan of the pizza and the spinach artichoke dip.  The pizzettas (pizza with salad on top) are also good.

The service is great.  We typically have a large, unwieldy group, but they've always been able to handle us.  It isn't always possible to do separate checks with a large party, so I'd suggest bringing some cash to make it easier on your server.

$6 pizza and $3 sangria for happy hour.  Sure I've had better pizzas and better sangria but really the price is sort of amazing.  The pizzas are decent.  Got the meat and the bbq chicken.  Personally perferred the chicken as the meat was a bit spicier.

oh Fly Bar, I owe it to you... because of u I got my first taste of Sangria.. Yes..I know I am late for this party.. but  better late than never,.. I am now in love...

I really really really don't like wine.. The only wine I will drink is Moscato and to all those die hard wine drinkers.. I know this doesn't even count as real wine..

At first when the glass was poured for me.. I was debating whether or not I should drink it.. or pass it to someone else... After a stare down.. and the fact that I had a few shots of grey goose before hand.. I decided.. f*ck it.. I'll try it.. At first I held my breath while sipping.. and then realized the after taste was not bad at all.. it was actually... kinda yummy..

Before I knew it, I drank almost a full cup! $20 for a pitcher of Sangria, $5.95 for a YUMMMY flavor packed Greek pizza loaded with a few kinds of delicious Cheese, This place is great for a Saturday happy hour! Mind you, The pizza had no meat, but it was still DROOLs, Delish!

You can also play pool while you are here getting your buzz on!

I am so so sorry Fly Bar! Danny and I walked out on our tab after we got distracted with playing pool. Good thing my babe goes there often and could pay it.

The atmosphere is exactly what I love. Bartenders are awesome. Art and the decor is really cool. I wish I had this bar in Roseville were I live. I will definitely be coming back, for drink and food and paying for it!...and then some ;)

I am craving it the pizza!

Wow, it has been YEAAAARS since I've been at Fly.  And, the last time I was there I only had drinks.  They serve food?  I didn't know!  lol

We ordered a whole bunch of food.  Everything looked good.  I got the Margarita pizza and shared the shroom pizza.  Shroom pizza was definitely  better.  Drinks was pretty good but small.  At $5 I get it though. Yes, I would come back....

Came here on a whim. The rave reviews re: the happy hour seemed encouraging.... So why not.

We ordered the Southwestern and the Carmel Blue (?), and a couple of Sakes. I've had *much* better Sake, was extremely watered down. The server was nice enough - Waited about 45 minutes for the food, and then they informed us that they sent our pizzas to the "wrong table". Ummmm wtf? Thanks for the news, I guess. 30 mins later, we got out food.

Food was great though. Excellent pizza. Really could have done without the 1 hour wait, though. Still, if they promise to not take so damn long next time, I'd go back for some more of that Carmel Blue cheese (or w/e) that was delicious.

It was my first time here last night for my cousins' birthday celebration. I always enjoy trying new places, and Fly Bar did not disappoint. Parking can be tough, but there is a public garage about a block away. It's not a huge place, but it's spacious enough to accommodate large groups. We had a table for 8 right next to the pool table.

The majority of the crowd were white males in their late 20's to mid 30's. I was constantly bumping into people to and from the only restroom, but the crowd was cool and easygoing.

I was pleased to see that this bar also serves food! We ordered about five pizzas, artichoke and spinach dip, baked brie and nachos. I love the crust on their pizzas. We tried the Meat pizza which was the best one compared to the Margherita and Funky Chicken. I really enjoyed their baked brie with bread; warm, rich, creamy, cheesy goodness! We also ordered a couple pitchers of sangria which was also good.

What WOW'd me the most was the fact that they frikkin played Gangstarr! Not just one song, but a few! They played a lot of hip hop which I didn't expect to hear based on the employees and the crowd. The servers acted like they didn't want to be there half of the time, and they also screwed up our order, but they were also extremely busy with only two servers.

Overall, I had a great time. Fly atmosphere. Fly vibes. Fly food. Fly drinks. Fly music. Fly bar.

I havent been here for a while...I used to be a regular here when I was inbetween jobs, and I would come in on a Wednesay day, where the girl would always play a ton of Wu Tang.
Came here last Wed and it was just your average weird day scene.
    Good bar overall though.

Fly bar..... with a name with bar in it, you'd assume they'd have a full bar, right?  Wrong..... only BEER and WINE are served.

The food here is surprisingly good.  We got the MMMMM....MEAT pizza and FOGHORN LEGHORN sandwich.

The Foghorn Leghorn sandwich consisted of roasted chicken, bacon, roasted tomatoes, provolone on a baguette.  Comes with a side salad (mixed greens + frisee lettuce) with a delicious house vinaigrette - a healthy touch for bar food.

The MMM.... MEAT pizza was pretty good:  Generous portions of meat:  sausage, pepperoni, prociutto, green bell peppers, tomato and mozzarella cheese.

Overall, a pretty chill place with a relaxed atomosphere.  Service could've been a bit more attentive, because we had to flag down the waitress a couple times to refill our waters and eventually ask for the bill.

Waiting on a show to start at The Independent, we swooped in here to get out of the cold.  Immediately found a table by the window.. and the waitress was ON POINT. We had drinks less than 4 minutes of entering the joint.

I wasn't expecting much..in fact, based on my friend's input, I was expecting a lot less than what we got here.

It's dark, but not too dark.. and there's a big red wall in the back with a mural of a naked woman with a bunch of trumpet players playing. It was pretty cool.

We ordered baked brie and a margherita pizza. Both items were fantastic.

I wasn't feeling the soju drinks much, so my waitress was kind enough to take it back and replace with wine. She was the best waitress I have had in like..years. Always making sure no one was standing in the door/aisle area..always making sure everyone had a place to sit, always there when I needed her.

Music ranged from indie to rap... something about 'Straight Outta Compton' being on and watching city folks walk against violent wind was super entertaining.

Had a great time here, would most definitely recommend if you're in the area and looking for a good place with great art and ambiance.

Their happy hour is great because the pizzas are half off!  The drinks are lacking, however.  They neither taste great nor seem to have any alcohol in them.

It was very busy when I visited.  The place was PACKED and the pizzas took FOREVER to come out.  The waitress apologized continuously and eventually offered us another drink on the house, but we decided not to take it.  When the bill came, she had given us one of our drinks for free.  Such great service!

Just one of THOSE days (that a girl goes through)...

Yesterday happened to be one of THOSE days where everything compounded to the point I resorted to something I rarely do; use FB as a venting mechanism only to look like a total attention whore. BAD IDEA. People, this is why health insurance covers "mental health". USE IT.

Perturbed over something that went awry, I was up all night tossing and turning all night only to then oversleep. The endorphins from my morning cardio session was temporary as I got into an argument with my melodramatic friend over something very arbitrary. This followed with finding duplicate charges on my debit card only for Wells Fargo to cancel my account without my consent. Leaving work early so I can get a temporary card, I found out upon arrival Wells Fargo were out of cards and going forward I will be charged $15/month for my account because I don't have a home mortgage tied to it (WTF?). Geez, can this day BE over already? My anticipation for dinner with my girls at Bar Crudo only turned into disappointment as we left $60 poorer, hungry, and offended by the service we received there.

    F*CK IT. TIME TO DRINK.

    Enter Fly Bar.

    One friendly bartender.

    One pitcher of sangria.

    Several drunk texts later.

I was the cheery old Cherylynn AGAIN. *smiles* =D

And who says, alcohol doesn't cure misery?

    LIES. ALL LIES.

    OTHER NOTES:
    *Fast, efficient, and AWESOME staff
    *Diverse and easy going crowd
    *HH everyday from 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM ($3 sangria, $1 off beer/sake cocktails, $5.95 all pizzas)
*MENU: apps, salads, sandwiches and pizzas (kitchen closes at 11 PM)
*Old skool hip hop and rock music
*Chic goth meets old roman decor

Fly bar has the magical combination of dim lighting and loud music that relieves the burden of dull company.  Dranks help too, I guess.

My middle school self would have died in here - star shaped paper lanterns, DIY canvas turned mirror mosaics, and those tear-drop lanterns that made Starbucks cool back when nobody gave a fuck about local businesses.  The place looks like somebody raided Urban Outfitters circa 2004 and thought, "that's good for this century."  It's all part of Fly Bar's greatest feature: it is NOT pretentious.

The beers are average price for SF and they only have Saktails, a cheap way for businesses to avoid that whole liquor license thing.  The menu is aiiiight but the real Hootie of the Blowfish is the Caramel Blue pizza: crispy crust, skanky blue cheese, creamy garlic sauce, sweet onions.  Gimme gimme more.

Delicious sake-bombs (like actually tastier than average) and sake/soju cocktails. My friends and I usually 'end up' at Fly Bar pretty frequently. Too bad the DJ was kind of a d-bag to us the last time we were there.

I know DJs don't like taking requests and having to play popular songs but it was a Saturday night at a popular bar. Save the underground experimentation for a weeknight... or at least don't perpetuate soul-draining lies like "I'll play it next!".

Even worse was after my friend and I's Kanye request got shut down I tried to act all cool and request some less mainstream hip hop acts... only to be further shot down with the expressed disapproval of my taste in music. So cruel, Fly Bar. So cruel.
