ALWAYS an amazing show!  This is something you don't want to miss.  If you don't know what spoken word is, then this is THE place (in the country) to find out what it's all about.  Go, be motivated, get inspired.  You won't regret it.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING time was had by all!!! This event is well organized, and there are a variety of acts to keep you entertained!! There were comedians, musicians, spoken word artists, an extremely talented painter that painted while the performers performed AND he painted based off of what they were saying in their performances...it was OUTSTANDING!! The Savoy is a very nice place although it was really hot in there when I first arrived. The taco servers in the back served cheap tacos that were extremely tasty and the new decor is stylish and trendy. After the show, the DJ played reggae and hip hop. I will most certainly go to a FLYPOET show again!!! :)  There is free street parking after 7 and metered parking or valet before that.

I've been to this at the Savoy (Inglewood club) and at the Gibson Amph.  The spoken word artists (go Sekou!) are off the chain.  The accompanying visual artist is dope.  The lyricists are fantabulous.  Angie Stone was at the Summer Classic.

Flypoet show is an amazing spoken word place where the word happens to live in multifaceted dimension. If you are into urban spoken and soul  and R&B music, do visit the place, it's only 15 bucks to enter. Every first wed. of every month at 8;03 pm. This is the place where world known poets flock to spit their verse on a monthly base. Have been going to that lounge for over two years now. It's inside of the club SAVOY.
Had an amazing time at the 10 year anniversary of the FLYPOET @ Ford Theater on Cahuenga Blvd. Stars such as Sekou Andrews and Kenny Lattimore, Lela Hathaway, Scorpio Blues. The show was rocking Hollywood area, I know many people are still overwhelmed by that excellent compilation of starlets!!! Thanks to John Hensley, the founder of Flypoet...

I attended the FlyPoet 10 year anniversary show at the Ford Amphitheater and was totally blown away. It started right on time, the host John was great and the show just flowed. The poets and musical acts, Lalah Hathaway and Kenny Lattimore, were simply amazing. It felt like being amongst family. The atmosphere was electric. I was encouraged, inspired and moved to tears.

It was simply one of the best shows I have ever attended and I highly recommend checking out FlyPoet.

So, I was a little apprehensive about the location... until I got there. The show was amazing! I was moved, I was entertained, I was blown away! I have been to a couple of open mics before and this was on a whole other level. The poets are flown in from all over and the performance painter was unlike anything I've ever seen... he actually interprets what's happening on the microphone with paint! Sprinkle in a couple of cool musical acts... I can't wait for the first Wednesday to come back around.

I had a ton of fun last night at FlyPoet. It was my first time ever visiting, also my girlfriend came along & she enjoyed herself as well. We were cordially greeted by the, host John Hensley, when we arrived & treated like family while listening to some excellent comedy, spoken word, & the in-house band was "off the Meat Rack." Definitely a place that makes sure everyone feels accepted & welcomed!!

Even though I live in San Diego, I'll definitely take some 1st Wednesdays off work to return on a regular basis...

Fly Poet was a crazy great experience for me! I soak up spoken word as often as I can, so I'm not new to the scene. I was expecting powerful artist serving it up. But I didn't expect the artist Norton to be adding his talents to the stage by painting his vision of either the artist or their piece, on a lit canvas!

The live bands and individual artist they've featured have always been entertaining. The crowd is widely diverse, and they put a cool little swing on the show starting it at 8:03 on the dot.

In good conscience the only thing that I have to say that may seem negative to some is about some of the material, not the show case; and is typical of almost every similar type of spot. Some artist used excessive profanity in my opinion. But this is coming from one who uses none. Other nights I've gone, I've heard hardly any. So anyway, I'm writing this review because it's a dog gone same that no one  has pumped up this spot.

1st Wednesday of every month @ 8:03 p.m. Hope to see ya there!
