I'm going to start about by saying, this place really surpassed my expectations. Â
I called to make a reservation for a large group of people (over 10). Â I had to leave a message with the details and within 30 minutes someone got back to me to confirm the reservation. Â
The place itself is a little on the classy side. Â I agree that you can wear casual clothes, but just keep in mind most people around you will be a little dressed up. Â Also, it's BYOB and there is a liquor store nearby which is convenient.
Now for the food: Â Everything we ordered was amazing. Â We got 3 different appetizers, one was a meat/cheese platter, another was a shrimp with garlic sauce and lastly we got the calamari. Â They all tasted great. Â The main dishes were also very good. Â We ordered everything from the filet mignon, salmon, various chicken dishes, and of course the pasta. Â Not one person complained about the food which was great. Â Also, note that they don't have a kids menu with printed items, however they do have chicken tenders if you ask for it. Â Almost all meals came with mashed potatoes and veggies (a few came with spaghetti and a couple came with salad). Â Everything was seasoned to perfection and the portion size was pretty good, you won't leave hungry.
Eventually we ordered dessert. Â We ordered the bread pudding and the molten cake. Â They were both good, just a little on the small side which wasn't really a problem since we were already stuffed by that point anyway. Â We paired our desserts with cappuccino which also tasted very good!
It is a little bit of a wait to get your food, but it does clearly state on the menu that they are cooking it when you order it so to be patient. Â We didn't mind it and had the appetizers to keep us busy anyway. Â Side note: they also serve an individual piece of bread to each person in the beginning and they keep coming back to give you more once you are finished. Â I thought that was a nice touch. Â The service was great too! They constantly came back to refill your water whenever you were running low!
Highly recommend and would definitely come back!
Fontana Di Trevi serves up solid Italian food at very reasonable prices. Pasta appears to be house made (ricotta gnocchi was out-of-this-world fresh!) and is generously coasted in authentic and creative sauces. Cuts of meat are generous and of a high quality. Desserts are all made fresh to order, never stale/soggy/fridge flavored. The service is friendly and attentive and atmosphere is comfortable (nice seats, low lighting, relaxing music). We've dined here twice and have been quite pleased each time - would certainly recommend to others looking for a no nonsense good Italian meal in northern Jersey.
