It seems like a really weird place to have a bar, you know? Â But as bars go, this seems like a great one. Â Plenty of huge TVs, lots of beers on tap, friendly service. Â Comfortable atmosphere. Â We didn't try the food, because we were just at Jiu Thai, but it looked decent.
The beers were cold and we could hear each other if we wanted to - I'd come back here with no doubts.
Gallo's Tap Room is very close to where I live now and has certainly become a go to place for drinks and delicious pub food. I've found that the panini sandwiches are quite good. I particularly enjoyed the meatball panini as it is composed of sliced meatballs topped with the traditional sort of meatball sandwich accessories. I found it to be rather flavorful and certainly went well when paired with a good beer.
Gallo's also seems to have specials that change depending on what day you are there. In particular I find that the Monday special of $3 Guiness and Jameson is particularly nice. There are also a few other interesting beers to choose from including a couple of stoats and a rather interesting Ale with banana flavors to it. It is definitely worth a trip to go here during their craft beer special.
Lastly the environment is decent. Usually they have either sports on or alt rock (satellite radio) playing as observed from my visits. A lot of the time the bar is rather loud, however you do have the choice of going out on the patio where it is usually a bit quieter. In the winter time they have a decent heater set up that makes sitting outside rather pleasant.
I like sports bars. I go to them pretty frequently. And I can honestly tell you that no sportsbar in the Columbus Metro is better than this place. Legitimate good food at a solid price. Great beers on tap. A beautiful atmosphere featuring oak paneling and even a deer antler chandelier. The Buckeye game day atmosphere is amazing. It is always packed, every TV in the place is showing the game, they have someone designated to switch the sound to buckeye music during commercials and sound the siren when a big play happens, and, to top it off, the owner gives a somewhat cheesy yet usually awesome pregame speech that is sure to get your blood pumping.
Review Source:So, I came here the other night for a late night bite. I figured it was late enough that we could skip out on any kind of "rush" and just get a bite and a beer and get out.
Well, it seems that there was one server working the entire place. One. She was super friendly and did her damnedest to take care of everyone.
I could see several people behind the bar, one of the ladies which my friend pointed was the "manager" who was doing absolutely fuck-all. It was annoying to see such a large bar staff when their floor was obviously suffering because of it.
What's worse - the food? A drop in quality. The burgers were damn near raw, and I didn't feel like wasting our servers time with their shit kitchen.
It's sad, because it used to be such a great place to come.
We were pretty excited to try this bar...and there's a lot of nifty stuff around it (like an Asian market!) so it gave us a good excuse to go.
As far as bars go, I think it's got character. Â It is relatively dark, but you've got the option of sitting outside. Â We didn't, but it looked like the outside did have some heaters for those chilly fall days. Â It's also got some darts and a few other games.
We wanted to try the creme brulee stout...but no go. Â They were out. Â Very disappointing as a lot of reviews mentioned this. Â Even our waitress said they were often out of the more unique beer selections. Â So I went with a pear cider and my husband got a Black Velvet (cider on the bottom, Guiness on top). Â Drink prices were okay, mine was like $4.25 and his about $3.75.
We really came for the food though, as we wanted a good burger and reviews here were good for it.
Burger first. Â Disappointing. Â It was just a really, really average burger. Â Thick but not exceptionally flavorful. Â Fries were steak cut with are my least favorite, blah. Â But I didn't want a salad or coleslaw and they had no soup that day.
I do have to say though, we got the mozzarella sticks and I'm pretty darn sure they were house-made. Â They were very good.
Also, was not in the least impressed with the service. Â There wasn't anything particular wrong with it, but it was the very epitome of "I'm doing a job, here's your food".
So, maybe we'll be back to try something else, but probably we won't...too many other good options, even right around the location! Â (Like a Pho place!)
Gallo's Tap Room is a special place...it's like a Cheer's bar. Its sports bar/neighborhood bar together. Nick Gallo and his staff are fantastic. The food is good ol' fresh American, service is as good as it gets and beer selection plenty. Our group is becoming regular's and we have a blast playing pool and socializing! Cheers!
Review Source:Nice little hidden gem in the strip mall on Bethel. Since we discovered it has been a regular place for us. First if you love craft beer like i do, they have a nice selection on tap as well as bottles in the cooler. Always have a few rare ones too. The food was fantastic and not what you would expect at all. Â My last stop I had the roast beef with the horseradish and a Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger to go with it. Plenty of TV's and a jukebox too. Also patio seating.
Review Source:This is one of the only bars I know of that actually has three pool tables.
I originally came here for a Thursday night Reddit meetup. Â I wasn't sure what to expect. Â Drinks were good and decently priced, but the highlight of the evening had to be the fish special. Â Instead of coming with a side of tartar sauce it was served with a delicious, creamy, guacamole sauce.
Would definitely come here again.
Tucked away in a strip mall next to Kmart, I never considered going to this bar for the longest time until I started to notice some good reviews on Yelp.
The inside is much more impressive than the facade. Â I was expecting a divey gross place, but it was really clean and didn't look outdated. Â I ordered the Ultimate BLT. Â It was tastey and the portion of bacon was unreal. (I heart bacon) Â However, the bacon has this weird super smoked flavor to it. So much that I felt like I was somehow eating second hand smoke. Â I don't know... it wasn't quite as gross as I am describing it, but it was enough to slightly weird me out. Â I'm no stranger to smoked foods or anything. Â This was just overly smokey.
I'd like to come back to try more on their menu though. Â I'll also check out their beer list next time too. I just got a vodka cranberry during this visit.
Oh and I will definitely be playing shuffle puck next time too! Â There are also pool tables and I belive dart boards.
The waitress was very friendly. Service was great.
I ate here (potato skins and buffalo chicken sandwich) and 4 hours later am sick as a dog. Â Called the manager and she tries to tell me that food poisoning can only set in 24 hours later, but I can tell that what I ate is making me sick and that is only true with salmonella...there are many other food-borne bacteria you idiot! Â Garbage that they won't even offer to comp me or refund my bill-who wants to be curled up on the bathroom floor as the result of spending your money on a meal at a restaurant that tries to come off classy but clearly is not and I should have known better eating dinner here, located in a strip mall. Â NEVER AGAIN, I hope if nothing else this review causes one less customer-in food service if a customer gets sick and believes it came from said restaurant, the manager should go out of their way to remedy the situation, plain and simple. Â This sucks, I urge you to skip this place or at least dont eat!!
Review Source:WOW, is this a combination of fantastic and not-so-great.
First of all, the wings are among the best in Columbus. Â Large, meaty, and the sauces are delicious. Â The homemade "cockfight " sauce is one of my all-time favorites and should NOT be missed.
The beer selection won't bowl over a craft beer nut, but it's much better than many places around. Â They'd probably get by with much less, but they make a strong effort to provide several diverse craft beers. Â Kudos!
Now the bad. Â There are 2 salads that came highly recommended at a recent visit. Â One came with grilled chicken, and the other their "signature" angus patty. Â My wife and I each got one, and couldn't believe anyone would recommend either one. Â Essentially they were chopped up iceberg letuce with a few pieces of chopped tomato and red onions. Â Both the grilled chicken and BURGER were dry and just plopped right on top. Â The chicken came with a packet of Italian dressing. Â Our server stopped by and actually said "Pretty good, right?"
This is a GREAT place to swing by for a big game, grab a couple quality beers, and eat wonderful wings.
I frequent Gallo's a lot, especially in the summer after softball games. It's convenient because Gallo's is a stone's throw from Anheuser Busch Sports Complex where we play our games. The staff is always really friendly and even memorize our "regular" orders after just a few visits. The menu is full of delicious bar food, my favorite being the grilled cheese with  bacon added. However, just be warned that the food usually takes a while to come out, especially on busy nights when there are several large teams/groups there due to the small kitchen.
Review Source:Never did I think I'd be so in love with a pub in a strip mall... neighboring a K-Mart no less.
Gallo's is good bar. Plain and simple.
Awesome beer selection - your usual suspects as well as some unexpected brews like a beer that tastes like creme bruleé!
Sadly we weren't there to eat, just booze, but those smells wafting from the open kitchen were hard to turn down.
There are plenty of TVs to catch a game, service is friendly, perky and prompt, and you'd never expect the inside of a pub next to a department store to be so ... "yes."
Could've set up shop for hours. Next time I'll come for the food.
You may not notice Gallo's at first, as it's kind of overshadowed by Marshall's and Music Go Round. Â However, it's worth a night out.
The service from the bartenders was excellent. The food was decent. Great place to watch a game. Also has some vintage arcade games, pool tables, and a patio. I've seen some live music here before from a band called "Illicit Kitty" but I don't think live music is a usual thing here.
No frills, just a good bar.
I went a few weeks ago with a friend. We had been to Gallo's Kitchen and Bar and were very impressed, so we checked out Tap Room.
Gallo's is a bar and has a bar atmosphere, which meant a higher noise level than I generally prefer. Service was also great although we had to wait a while for our food.
I got The Big Easy Sandwich with a house salad with balsamic, and my friend got the special - ribs and fries. The sandwich was a cold sandwich, and while it didn't amaze me, it was good, and the homemade balsamic dressing was fantastic. The fries were good, and the ribs were amazing - the meat was perfectly tender, so tender I could use a fork more than fingers to eat it.
Not as impressive as Gallo's Kitchen and Bar, but still among your top options for food at a bar around Columbus.
This is our go-to place for game-watching days as the interior is pretty big and we usually don't have a problem finding a table near one of the three big-screens in the main room. The beer selection is pretty good and they always seem to have something on special. The grilled cheese, with or without caramelized onions and tomatoes, is the best I've had in the Columbus. And I've had my fair share. An order of fries is pretty enormous and great for sharing, and the side salads are mainly iceberg, a few tomatoes and onions. Eh, ok.
Review Source:I went to Gallo's for a work event last night, being that I grew up thinking the only bars I would ever go to were on or near the High St "strip (GV to Clintonville), I really haven't experienced too many places near my work or outside of the cities central to east side (I know I sound really provincial right now). Gallo's has a pretty cool interior, the first thing I noticed was the space, then the bar which has an awesome chandelier that I bet has been the subject of many pictures.
Our waitress didn't seem too knowledgeable about the menu honestly which was frustrating, I like to go places where the wait-staff and bartenders seem excited about what they are serve, this didn't seem to be the case but I ordered nonetheless. I had the grilled cheese (added tomato and onion), fries, a CBC pale ale, and my friend ordered some wings. The grilled cheese was actually REALLY good, they have awesome bread, and the carmelized onions were a good addition. Their wings are huge! And they have a great garlic sauce on them, their "hot" sauce was great too.
Service time was moderate for food but the drinks came out quickly, we played a little bit of darts while we waited (I missed the entire dart board several times). Â It was a good place to go after work, solid menu, and good ambience.
I love this place, and have from day one when the three cousins did all the work. Â Today I stopped by for some beer after a 2 year hiatus and I left smelling like I've left a dinner (nothing but hot grease). Â Interesting because the fries my buddy and I shared, we both commented were horrible. Â I remember when you started one of the cousins ran the kitchen and it was fantastic. Â You may want to go take another look to revamp. Â I'll be back, because this is a GREAT local family and I love the place!!
Review Source:I absolutely love this bar! The drinks are always good, the beer selection is great and the food is delicious. It's a no frills kind of place, service is always good and there are plenty of televisions to watch. They also have various games to play (although I have never played any).
Their house balsamic is so delicious--I put it on the fries, salad, anything! They also have pretty good fries, thick-cut steak fries that are usually crispy. I suggest the grilled cheese, the big easy, the chicken sandwich and the meatball sandwich. All are HUGE and very good for bar food (or food anywhere). I have had the wings twice, and they're actually really good. They are big, meaty and the sauces are unique and tasty.
I would say it's one of my favorite places to eat if drinking is also on the agenda. I came here a lot more when I lived on Henderson, but still try to make it back out here sometimes.
This is a great place for food, drinks, sports, hanging out, anything really. First off, my fav thing is personal tv's in the booths. You can watch anything you want, privately!
Second, their food is awesome. Everything I've tried here is delish from the fried shrooms, to the burger, to the meatball panini. Everything is good. Ask for the pepper mayo, you won't regret it.
Third, they have a great selection of draft beers.
The service is friendly and attentive as they can be based on the crowd. The bar tenders are good people. It gets very crowded on weekend nights and during big games, which takes away from the Gallos experience (I think). I like it when it's less crowded and more chill. But, the patrons are a diverse group of young and older. Everyone fits in there!
I drove past Gallo's for years without giving it any thought. Unfortunately, I only learned that it was actually a hidden gem after moving away from Columbus - and that's too bad because it is a great spot for beer, food and watching the game. In a strip mall next to MicroCenter - there is definitely ample parking...once inside there is a very different feel. The draft beers and the large bottle list definitely provide lots of options for craft beer connoisseurs, but also suits those a little more comfortable with the more common domestics. While I didn't order any food on this visit, if it is anything like it was a year or two ago - it is delicious. What I did order was a Triple IPA from Columbus Brewing Company and the server did a nice job of making sure that was something I meant to order without being too "you're a girl, do you know about beer?". It is probably not a beer that just anyone off the street would appreciate.
The jukebox was playing great stuff during our entire visit and the decor is a little more attractive than your typical sports bar. Enjoy!
I came here for supper tonight. Â I started off with their wedding soup which was the soup of the day. Â It had chicken and plenty of meatballs.
Then, at the urging of the barmaid, I ordered "the Ultimate BLT." Â Six slices (yep you read that right!) of thick-cut bacon, Â and lettuce and tomato, and homemade mayo.
The only thing that would have made it more perfect was being able to order dessert. Â But it was a great meal at a great price, $12.01 including tax.
I'll note first that I've only been here during the day on a Saturday during college football gameday.
I enjoy the crowd they bring it, but it's clear why they draw the crowd. Their drinks are reasonably priced, their staff is VERY friendly and accomodating, and it's a fun lively atmosphere for the games.
Their domestic drafts are well-priced, and even their specialty drinks weren't bad. The only food I've had there was french fries, which were cheap in price, but high on quality.
Lastly, the manager or owner last time we went was was very very helpful. He must've tried for about a half hour (no exaggeration!) to find the game I wanted to watch, which was only broadcasted regionally. He did his best and I give him lots of credit for putting up with me and my need to watch the game.
I'll definitely be back here for the game next Saturday and you should too! I should mention that even though I'm not an Ohio State fan, they bring a large crowd of scarlet and gray in there, so if you're a fan, this is your place.
This is one of my favorite spots in Columbus to watch a game; the owner is the definition of Buckeye fanatic (borderline crazy). Before each game the same Ohio State themed "song" is played , as well as the OSU fight song  after each score/+turnover and Carmen Ohio is played at the end of the game. Everyone in the place is energized and if you go with a group of friends it's the next best place to see a game besides Ohio Stadium itself.
Side Note: I also like this place b/c of the variety of people who choose to watch the game here; I once saw a Goth jump up and down and hug a certified chochkie after an OSU score. When OSU played Florida and Ginn returned the kickoff, I found myself hugging Andyman from cd101, it's wonderful.
The food here is very, very tasty! The pierogi, panini sandwich are my favorites. The wings are okay, too expensive for the number of wings you get, so I would try something else, especially if you are really hungry. Everything seems to be made fresh, nothing prepackaged, which says alot for standard bar fare.
. There is a wide variety (too many to name) of top notch beers on tap/bottled, but Gallo's also includes $1.50 cans of Natty Light or PBR. This helps make up for the slightly higher food prices.
If you choose to try it out on game day get there early as tables, booths fill up fast.
When I lived closer to this place I used to go on non-game days as well, the place is great for a small group of friends, each booth has its own mini flat screen and you can play Xbox of PS2 if you feel inclined. They also have a couple of pool tables, darts and shuffleboard. (The pool tables are topped for game days).
The service is always excellent, even when busy I have never had to wait longer than was to be expected, even the lines to the restroom remain short! Try this place out, even if you're not a big OSU football person, I bet you get caught up in the excitement and find yourself hugging a total stranger.
