I've been going to the Garden for the last 6 years. Over all that time, the one thing I can say is inconsistency. The entrees that I've received has always been good, if a little salty. The problems have always been service and overall quality.

The menu is extensive with a page each for chicken, lamb, seafood, vegetables, tandoori, and breads. There is a great deal of variety with each and in general the entrees don't disappoint. It's the appetizers that serve to let you down. I have the distinct feeling the samosas are pre-packaged and pakuras from a box. I'd rather have a slimmer menu all from scratch than filling in holes with mass produced stuff.

The service itself has always been spotty, totally on point one time, and then mixed up entrees with another table and waiting forever for food the next. When it's who appears to be the owner, it typically goes well, but whenever it's anyone else it's less than stellar. Though on the plus side, they give you extra rice for free.

If you're getting take out, then you're good to go, just avoid the appetizers. If it's a sit down experience you want, then know you're reaching into a mixed bag.

Update: The food and the quality of it has changed little. However, on a recent order , we have discovered to our chagrin that while the prices have remained the same, the amount of food has gone down considerably.

I previously gave The Garden a moderate recommendation. With the price point stable and the portions cutting nearly in half, I'm no longer a customer. It's just not worth it with other options in the area.

Drove by on the way to six flags, thought it was gonna be some shady nothing place, but am so glad we stopped here! Seriously some of the best Indian food I've ever had, and a pretty good value. Great service too.

Lamb Marsala was awesome and I am glad we left the park to come here and eat.

The service was great and the owner was kind enough to offer us an app as we waited and it was super.  Moist delic and something I wouldn't have ordered but will now.

Mr G was looking for spice and I was not.  I really enjoyed my lamb and naan.  Mr G's order had good spices but was not too hot.

I am looking forward to coming back and also hope to try the lunch buffet.  Way better than anything in the park.

After nearly losing my lunch riding the Bizarro Roller Coaster 4 times for a TV show in the morning, this was a great place to get lunch afterward. I was fully feeling nauseous as I arrived at the restaurant, but the buffet was delicious. There's not a lot on offer (fair, not a lot of people in there), but what's there is good, and they cook up some naan and Tandoori chicken for you and bring it to the table as part of the lunch buffet. I threw a Mango Lassi on there and walked out feeling WAY better than I did when I arrived. Tasty.

They take credit cards but prefer not to, so bring cash if you can.

This place is really a gem. I'm a bit of an Indian food buff, and I've been to a lot of places in the Greater Hartford and Western Mass area, Northampton as well. The Garden is still an old favorite!
Their buffet lunches are always really well done, and I definitely recommend going on Tuesday or Wednesday to catch the $6.95 deal, which is phenomenal. The rest of the week (minus Mondays when they're closed) is great as well, and you can find things that are special and off-menu. They have a dish called Punjabi Kadhi which I haven't seen in any restaurant outside India before! So while I don't think I can vouch for authenticity, that to me is pretty impressive.
Dinner is great as well. I prefer to eat in rather than take out there, because the service is generally good, and one of the owners knows me by sight since I'm there so much (which is a bit embarrassing to admit). I don't eat meat, but my family does, and when we've gone together they've always been impressed with the chicken and lamb dishes. The biryani is seriously out of this world. Their vegetable pakoras are wonderful and make a perfect starter. I can't think of a place with better garlic naan, either.

The spice level does sometimes seem to be a bit arbitrary, but unlike many of the other Yelp reviews for this place I personally find "really spicy" to be an endorsement!

All in all, I think The Garden is awesome, and a great choice for date night or even just take out. Unique dishes you don't see in every Indian restaurant and a friendly staff really make this worth the trip.

I went here today with the family. The place is never open when I drive by so luckily, it was open. Dont be fooled by the hours of operation on the door because they lie. Once in there the owners son was kind and so was the waitress. The owners dad couldnt stop trying to undress me with his eyes, very uncomfortable. There was no soap in the bathroom so I would hope the people who work there are washing THEIR hands with soap because they are dealing with the food. The mother was very kind and so was our waitress. They happened to mix up our orders, but that was fine because by the time we realized, we were stuffed. When ordering, we asked for mild spice, I guess to them that meant medium to flaming hot because we were both sweating because the meal was super hot. When we told the waitress it was hot, but still delicious, she told me that she had told them mild. When she spoke to the cooks, we both heard them screaming from the kitchen! They were mad as hell because we said it was very spicy (BUT GOOD!). They also swore too which made our family outing even more special for our 3 year old. We finally left. The only good thing are the prices and some of the people are nice.  We ate a lot and we only spent 40$ including beer and wine. I would have given this place a 5 if it werent for the potty mouth cooks and the blazin hot "mild" food. Would I go there again? On a low budget, yes but if I have the money for another place, I will definatly go there instead....PS, we both have heartburn and my son couldnt even eat ANY of the food. All he ate was bread, water and rice.

After a tiring day and some crap load food at Six Flags we had no idea where we were headed for dinner. And luckily we got some great food and service here to make it a pleasant end for the fun filled day. The green chutney which is complimentary was amazing and I loved how they had complimentary papads. The lady served naans instead of the rotis we ordered. We were too hungry to send it back for rotis and started devouring without complaining but the owner came in couple mins later and apologized and served the rotis too-the naans were on the house. The chicken and the other Veg. Jalfrezi were authentic and not just a common gravy with different colors and fillers. The food was freshly prepared and steaming hot just the way it should be.

I love the buffet that they have every week for lunch.  It is very cheap and you get to choose from a good variety.  The staff is extra friendly which for me is key to the experience.
