There is not a lot to say about this place. The root beer (even diet) is pretty good, and nice that you can get it in half-gallons and gallons to go if you are into that sort of thing. The hot dogs I'm pretty sure are straight-up Oscar Mayer, although I was craving a hot dog (which is how we ended up here) and it totally hit the spot. At $1.45 it's hard to complain. There are "Spanish" (Coney) dogs, and a few other varieties including kraut. If you aren't into dogs they also have pork tenderloin, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, corn dogs...no burgers to the dismay of my significant other. Â Everything is really cheap, food was hot except our fries, and they were packed. Service was okay. No indoor seating, Â this is a drive-in so be prepared. Most annoying were other patrons who didn't want to wait their turn for service and woukd lay on their horn as soon as they pulled up. You definitely get what you pay for, but an experience nonetheless.
Review Source:Gene's is a typical old-style drive-in establishment. Considering I went on opening day, I won't knock down for a long wait for initial service. Once I was seen, the food came fairly quick. Hot dogs were semi warm and had ingredients from someone else's order on mine, but they were still ok. Gene's is a good place to go, they just need to refine a little.
Review Source:Been going to Genes every summer for years and know spring is here when they open! Â The food is always good and the root beer is awesome! Â I. Was dissapointed however last year when they stopped giving refills on root beer. When I saw they were open this spring I excitedly turned in for my first coney dog and root beer of the season. The girl took my order then ask if I was paying with cash. I always use a debit card and knew their limit was $3 in order to use it. I told her "no" but I had my card. Â She refused my order and said you now have to spend $10 or more to use a debit card there!!! Â Guess I'll not be going back...wonder how many other people, like me are being turned away every day...
