    At GIA last evening.
Good crowd mix, ate at bar by kitchen. Prompt service.
Had  4 small plates, 2 very good, 1 okay and a fourth , the slider, sent back as it was too dry.
Wine list is limited in selections and not well known bottles yet cost per glass was a bit overpriced ( and I never mind paying for a good wine).
Live jazz. Too loud or was it bouncing off ALL THE HARD SURFACES ?

Concept is good, delivery could definitely use some finesse. Return visit? Maybe.

Went last night for dinner and was very impressed with the ambiance, music, and wonderful wait staff.  The food portions are small, and a little pricey, but well worth it!!  The quality and freshness of the food was immediately evident.  I had the salad with arugula and crispy prosciutto, filet with white truffle oil vinaigrette, and the tiramisu.  If you have a chance, please check out GIA.

Sausage flatbread, swordfish, and fried artichokes were delicious. Love that they have Pimms on the drink menu.

We have a local food critic for the newspaper who has never been outside a two block area of downtown Greensboro who gave this restaurant a two star rating,
I think he should be looking for another  job such as running a third rate school system(which was his last job). Best restaurant on the Greensboro scene in way to many years.... give it a try,you will not be disappointed. Concept, food, and entire experience is a welcome addition to Greensboro.

This relatively new addition to the thin Greensboro restaurant scene is the polar opposite of the man cave concept - in nearly every imaginable way - but especially in decor and menu. This is a place many ladies will fall in love with - and they have a full service bar, so men will make do, though the bar drinks are a very, very lite pour for the price, and the service is rather unfocused.

The decor is modern, stylish, if a little cold - high tables and chairs dominate the main area centered between the long granite-topped bar, and the food bar with a view of the interworking's of the kitchen, if you like such views. There is a smaller dining area, the Library - low tables and chairs, dim lighting, and large windows provide a view of New Garden Road and beyond, toward town - not all that much of a view, but a view, nonetheless. The tables and chairs here are not the most comfortable.

The menu here is limited to small plates - not actually tapas, in the true sense, but generally well done, attractively plated, and flavorful.  Our party tried the Meat and Cheese Plates (4 selections for $8) - we ordered 2 - 4 meats & 4 cheeses served with mustard and crackers. Nice sized servings, generally pretty good, though the "Imported Ham" was not bursting with flavor - everything else was fine.

We also ordered the Slow-Roasted Beef Sliders ($7) and this was disappointing on several levels - first there was just 1 slider, and for $7 this is simply over-priced. Flavor was ok, but the Oil Preserved Tomatoes made the whole thing greasy. Would not order again. We also tried a flatbread item -  The Spicy Chunky Sausage and Red Peppers  ($9) was very, very nice, and I would definitely get this again.

All in all, more pluses than minuses here, but this place did not blow me away - value is a question in drinks, and some menu items (Beef Slider), and the service was spotty. The question for this place, I think, will be can it bring customers back in consistently - it will be popular with the "Restaurant Of The Month" for a while, and then we'll see.

If you're looking for a fun night out, and willing to spend some time and money over food, Gia is a fantastic spot to checkout.

Walking in after checking out their website was a bit of a craps shoot for us.  We loved the menu, but weren't too sure of the crowd.  The website portrayed a hip, urban vibe tapas bar...filled with gray hair and sweaters. But, much to our surprise the crowd was a great mix of young, old, and somewhere in between.

The look of the place is fantastic.  It's an incredibly refreshing look and feel for Greensboro.  Dim lights, embossed leather, quirky Galileo knick knacks, and  a granite bar top that focuses on the bright red wood fired oven, which is where we were sat.

The food was fantastic.  One of the perks of sitting at essentially "the chef's table" was not only the show, but a kitchen bite given to us by the young shaggy haired sous chef.  Following the bite, we had the flash fried artichoke which is paired with a bright lemon aioli.  The artichoke was meaty, tender, and crispy; absolutely delicious. We followed that with the meat and cheese plate, the tuna (which was cooked perfectly), and the Pecorino and anchovy flat-bread (which was a touch too salty for my boyfriend, but fine for me).  Throughout these courses we had wine and beer from their great booze menu.  Finally, Greensboro has a restaurant with new and unique wine that actually makes you think a little bit.

The crowning dish in this meal was the dessert.   We opted for the limoncello cake and it was bliss.  It was moist and light and actually tasted like lemons, not "lemon flavor."  (honestly, it gets it's own paragraph...it's good).

My only gripes are that it's away from downtown, parking is a little tricky, and there is limited patio space which is a bummer because it'd be a great place to sip and nosh outside on a summer evening.

This place is great. I've only been here once so far. We lucked into two seats at the food bar (half crescent, high-chaired bar with a view of the kitchen) where we watched the kitchen buzz. They did a great job of keeping up with a very crowded room. Tapas style plates (small) but *absolutely* delicious and reasonably priced enough to try 4-6 different things and not break $50. They had a great beer selection - I had a Rye Pale Ale. The tiramisu was phenomenal. This is a great date spot. I can't wait to go back and try the things I missed. I plan to start on the *drinks bar* next trip.

When I noticed Gia had opened, of course I took to Yelp. At the time their was one review ,so we gave the place a shot.  I have been a couple times now, in both large & small groups.  The service is always on point.  The owner & staff are very personable & make you feel welcome.  It's a great place to start an evening, but they serve food until 2am.  It is a pretty swanky spot for Greensboro! You should at least give it a try.  The chicken lollipops & the flat breads are fantastic! The tiramisu might be the best I have ever had!

We visited Gia after seeing the reviews on Yelp, and it was worth the drive. Unfortunately, it is a little too far away from my normal stomping grounds for me to become a regular.

This bar only serves tapas, but they are very good! The portions are tiny, so be sure to order a variety. The owner stopped by our table, and introduced himself - seemed like a cool guy.

I definitely will go back when I am in the area!

Wow.! This place is amazing. Some of the best food I've had in Greensboro. Great atmosphere, beautiful decor. The proprietor Nino is very attentive and an all around great guy. Do yourself a favor and visit Gia.

Went into Gia for the first time Tuesday night for my birthday. I was extremely impressed with the atmosphere and the service and food were fantastic!! Portions and pricing very reasonable! Impressive wine list!! The owner went out of his way to introduce himself and wish a happy birthday. Highly recommend! And ask for Annie to wait on you!

We stopped at GIA around 9pm on Saturday night.  The place was very busy and had a great atmosphere. It is a unique option in Greensboro and has more of a "big city" feel.  The server was friendly, but drinks took a long time to arrive.  Additionally, their specialty cocktails (we tried 3 different ones) were not very good.  They need a competent mixologist to come in and adjust the recipes.  The wine list is OK, but for an Italian themed tapas bar, the selection of quality Italian wines was limited.

We tried the margarita flatbread and the arancini.  Both were, again, OK but somewhat bland.  The arancini could have used some freshly grated Parmesan and the sauce lacked flavor.  The flatbread was begging for some fresh herbs and seasoning in general.

Overall, I woul go back and try it again and I am sure that with slightly lowered expectations I would be satisfied.

Greensboro has needed a place like Gia's for a long time! Everything was great all-around. It's a relatively small space with a large open area and a small private room that can accommodate about 20 people. There are about 20 seats at the bar.

The menu is all "small plates;" we chose the: the meat & cheese plate, picking 2 meats and 2 cheeses (you can select any combination); prosciutto-wrapped asparagus; the crispy eggplant and the tuna loin. We ended our meal with cannoli's.

We sat at the bar; service was well-timed and very friendly. Small beer selection, but something for everyone and reasonable prices. Extensive wine list with mostly higher-end wines and higher prices.

We will definitely be back to try more dishes!

Wow! By far, the best Greensboro has to offer. Been traveling here for years and a buddy told me about this tapas place owned by a family from Sicily. Everything is fresh. I tried a cheese/fresh meat plate with hard Italian cheeses and prosciutto di Parma. The meats were cut on one of those old school hand crank slicers that keep the meat tasting incredibly fresh. I sampled the aronchini (Sicilian rice balls) that were out of this world! The main course we shared was the filet cooked in their wood fire oven which was very flavorful and could be cut with a fork. The wine selection was incredible! The atmosphere was perfect and the service was first class.....very underpriced from my experiences....2 of us ate incredibly well for under $40. 4 glasses of a good red totaled $27. Thank you Gia!
