Oh Southlake, how do you always find a way to make good things suck? I am a big fan of Ginger Man, specifically the locations in Uptown and Fort Worth. I figured Southlake Town Square couldn't possibly ruin the Ginger Man. I was wrong. The bar itself is fine: lots of great beers, a few snacks to choose from, decent staff, and reasonable prices. What I DIDN'T like was the Southlake douchebaggery going on around me. You know, older dudes wearing flower button down shirts with skulls in the back and jeans with more design stitching than my kid sister's old Halloween costumes. Add the dumb moms that bring their KIDS INTO A BAR and expect more food items to choose from. Yeah, Brio is across the street. Sorry Ginger Man, nothing against you, but this location sucks. While I normally try not to let the crowd around me taint my experiences at bars, these people were obnoxious and practically took over the place after HH.

If my office wasn't nearby, I would pass on coming here again.

My wife and were planning to meet nearby for dinner. Since I was early I could think of no better place to wait than at The Ginger Man.

As I sat, looking over the pulls, the Four Corners Local Buzz (Honey Rye Golden Ale) caught my eye. I order this, and the glass fills about halfway and the tap sputters dry. This is the last of the Local Buzz, but at least I'm able to sample it since I'm given the half glass gratis. I like it. It's only very slightly sweet and is very smooth.

For my first full beer I try to compliment the Local Buzz and go with the Franconia Brewing Company's Franconia Koelsch, which I was told was light with some citrus in the beginning and a dry hoppy finish with a little sweetness. It was tasty and perfect and reasonably priced at $4. One of these days I really need to make it to the Franconia brewery.

My last beer was a Maredsous Brune (spelled "Bruin" on my receipt). It's a Belgian beer brewed at a Benedictine monastery. Whenever I see beer poured into a glass not shaped like your typical pint glass, I know it means I'm going to be spending a bit more. At $9 it was a rather pricey beer, but it was good. Rich, complex, and spicy with a warm finish.

All in all another good visit and do like the variety of beers on tap here (and there are bottle options too). Next time I just need to remember to bring my darts.

I'm a big fan of The Ginger Man! It's not an unusual pub but it's the kind of place you never tire of. There are dozens and dozens of super fine beers and ciders to look at, muse over, and drink, so you won't get bored and your palate can continually look forward to something new. Or, stick with your same ol' favorites; they'll always have em'!

My favorite part about The Ginger Man is ordering a side of potato chips for a little over a dollar. It's the simple things in life... I've had them brought to me in a bowl and a bag, but either way is fine by me. Try the spicy jalapeno or habanero... both times my ears were burning after eating them. They're so delicious and addicting though, it's worth it! The heat pairs perfectly with a tart cider, and one time the bartender brought me a single slice of Gouda to cool down my tongue. So thoughtful.

Everything I've come to expect from a ginger man. Too small, too loud and and too busy.

Points for the patio and points for bringing decent, if cliche, beer to southlake.

Go during off hours or during a weekday night, and it'll probably be four stars. Skip the weekend nights full of annoying southlake folks shouting at each other.

Buried amongst all the other similar looking buildings in this shopping district is a "pub" called the Ginger Man.  It's not very big - very pub-sized, and they don't serve much for food, but if you are in the mood for a good beer, this is the place to go.
They have a great selection of beers on tap, sorted by type.  I had quite a few - mainly Blonde ales and Wheat, and loved them all, oddly enough.  I am usually pretty picky when it comes to beers but the ones I tried here were all perfect.  There's a small bar downstairs, and an upstairs seating area - it seats maybe 40 people?  There is a nice area with a few couches up there, which this one couple hogged the entire area by themselves, so my large group weren't able to use it.  Jerks!  But the beers are good and we did get food - a few appetizers: cheese and breads and dips.  All of it was really good.  And you defintiely need it drinking these beers here.

I have been to the Manhattan Ginger Man, which is an amazing bar, and the South Lake Ginger Man did not disappoint. I admit that I am a big beer fan so this place is catered to me. The selection for taps and bottles is great for any beer enthusiast. Great ambiance and pretty good service. Out of the three times that I have been, two of the servers were very knowledgeable and made suggestions any time that they were out of one of their many beverage selections. They do run out of beers so be prepared to have a backup ready if you are getting one of the rarer spirits on the menu. All in all it is a good choice if you like trying many varieties of beers. They have an outdoor patio area, as well as having an upstairs seating area. If you love beer, you will love the ginger man. Cheers!

Awesome place to meet for happy hour. Service was great, very knowledgeable and explained different beers to us. Server Joshlyn was super nice and made great beer recommendations for me and my wife. The food menu is small, but everything has been good. The french dip sandwich being my favorite. I have been back several times now.

Small but nice bar with a decent beer selection.  It's not the Flying Saucer but it will do in a pinch.

When I owned a bar, I used to tell my bartenders that you (as my bartender) either make it, or break it for me. I also encouraged them to read all of our yelp reviews, as constructive criticism is good.

Upon entering on a Friday night around 6:30, the bar was crowded, except for two stools. Wifey and I grabbed these stools, and started salivating at all of our beer options. Matt was our bartender. Matt seemed uninterested, and burdoned by our questions. Or, he was really stoned. Maybe a combination of both. Who knows? Thankfully, his shift was about up, and Jacob was our new bartender. Now, Jacob is a bartender's bartender. Patient, as my wife can be realllllly high maintenance. And, he knows his beers. Nada one that he wasn't knowledgeable on.

We didn't eat, as we popped in for a few beers before dinner, but the guy sitting next to my wife kept on moaning about how f'n good the pretzels were. I'm not sure if he enjoyed the pretzel more, or blatantly flirting with my wife.

Impressive (not great) beer selection, great, knowledgeable bartender (Jacob), and a cool, overall vibe.

    I will return.

I have no idea where the name comes from but they've got a great selection of beer, on tap and bottled.  During our visit yesterday we were served by Meryl, fun and very knowledgeable and she made some great recommendations. They serve beer at the proper temperature--not they way most bars serve their Bud Light at 30 degrees. We sat upstairs which was very comfortable and a good place for conversation except for the frequent yelling from a lively dart game downstairs.

This time it was just beer but I look forward to coming back for some selections from the food menu.

They didn't have the beer we came in for that was advertised for this location on the website.

They didn't have the "name that tune" game that was advertised for this location on the website.

They didn't have the Yuengling beer that was sitting on the bar wall next to the register.

I they never advertised that they had these things in the first place, we would have never known what was missing.

Besides, The Ginger Man does not belong in Southlake.

Met up with friends at the outside bench tables and went thru a few drafts and a couple of appetizers.

Mellow, low key servers and the great, expected selection of brews.

Premises are pretty small overall, so expect it will be crowded inside during bad weather and given tight space around bar may not be as fun.  In other words, perfect for outdoor weather or off-peak times.

Southlake really doesn't have any casual drinking environments, so this is a good add.  Hope they make it!

Finally. After months and months of trying to find the one bar in the area that offers good beer imports on tap, I have found a new watering hole that offers a great variety to quench my thirst! Although a whole lot smaller than the Dallas location, and shoved smack dab in a random spot inside Southlake's town square (which is full of clohing retail shops, jewelry stores, and other commericial chains), it's not a bad place at all considering the lack of options for good bars in the area. Most of the locals here are probably more into wine, martinis, and mixed drinks. Heaven forbid the hoity toity have to drink an IPA! I'm giving it good ratings because if you are looking for a variety of good beers ranging from pilsners, pales ales, and stouts...to IPAS and ciders....this is a good place to hit up. And for those of you who stick to what you know, there is a Shiner Bock and Bud Light tap just for you to embarass yourself ordering! No kitchen food here, but they do have cheese and meat boards, and other small finger food dishes.

I went to Gingerman the other night to catch up with an old friend. I've been a frequent visitor of the Gingerman in Dallas. And I was a little skeptical, since Southlake is all shiny and new. I was pleasantly surprised when I went inside. Its a cozy atmosphere nside. Its got a 2nd level - up top they have table seating.

On the first level, they have booth seating and dart boards. As usual, they have a large variety of beers on tap. Although I didn't order it, the French Dip sandwich looked really good. We instead ordered a tasty spinach dip, delivered with warm pita bread.

The server was attentive to our needs, but didn't pester us. Prices were reasonable. For 3 beers and half the spinach dip was $22 before tip.

Warm, friendly atmosphere, good for big gatherings or instant gatherings!

It's taken me a couple of months to manufacture a trip over to the newest Ginger Man location, this one a fresh new spot in the former environs of what used to be a wine bar in Southlake. I had been to the old incarnation, didn't dislike it, but when I sorted that the G Man was now in place in its stead it felt like a savvy move to me. Nevertheless, only one way to be sure, and a post-shopping holiday season visit it was.

I'd wager that the Ginger Men in general have managed to get more comfortable with non-traditional environments, and I'm basing that largely on the current home of the Austin location (which moved from a stand-alone traditional space to a new building they share), and this one, obviously one space of many with a communal parking lot. That means there may be challenges to establishing uniqueness, one might gather. Good news is that these folks have been dialing up their particular brand of brew forward savvy for awhile now, and I think it translates well here. This at once felt like a Ginger Man location, with enough of the mahogany at play to carry over from the original (pre G Man) build out.

In short, they got it right -- and though you'll find a variety of beers begging a sip, they could probably stand to take a few more chances still with the menu. So here's looking forward to dropping back in to see if that goes down. Just like that last beer did, smooth.

I dont have a problem with the Ginger Man. I think it's one of the better pubs that I've been to. They have GREAT selections of beer! We were around southlake for a birthday dinner and this was the only bar option we could find hahahah. Southlake is not the place you go to for a party. It's family oriented area. We bought five different beers and the bill was only $22....um HOLLA!!!!! I thought that was cheap!

I give it two stars. 1 because it has beer and 1 because its a pub. After that it has a long way to go to become a destination with any kind of real appeal.
I went the first night because I was excited to have something resembling a pub w no smoking in ne Tarrant. I was a little skeptical because of my visit to the sterile, over priced ft worth g man location.
I have seen people more excited at my dad's assisted living facility. Perhaps the folks they brought in to tend bar from Dallas thought we were all from Southlake. I'm just a wanna be Irishman beer lover that got out of my trailer in Keller for the night to find a pub to call home. I will give it another try, I hope the staff at g man does likewise .

It seems like every awesome thing that makes it way to Southlake loses it's charm in the transition. I've already been disappointed by the Mellow Mushroom and now The Ginger Man joins the ranks of things that are more awesome anywhere else.

This Ginger Man is much smaller than the Dallas location and is cramped between a Which Wich and Jared's Diamonds. But small doesn't mean bad, not by any means. Here's what went wrong in this case.

We walk in to this tiny establishment that has about ten people within the first 10 square feet, crowding the bar and the two small, oddly placed booths facing the bar. It is almost silent - I felt like we walked in on some secret meeting. If it weren't for the fact that I had verified they opened at 1pm, I would have thought we walked in on an unopen bar.

Then, no one greeted us. A sign said seat yourself, and seeing no available seats at the bar or the two little booths, we headed upstairs. And sat. And sat. A waitress (I think?) walked up, looked at us, then went back down. Finally we got up and stood at the one opening at the bar. And stood. And stood.

I was ready to walk out - the whole thing had been so strange, it was still oddly quiet for the amount of people in such a small space, and then heard the waitress (?!) telling the bartender he has to keep people out of the upstairs area. Just as I was about to give up, he finally asked us if we wanted something.

I can't emphasize enough how awkward and time consuming just getting served a single beer was. We went ahead and paid right then, knowing we wouldn't want to stick around for a second round. We are beer lovers and were so excited to get to know more about their selection, but the bartender offered no help and looked at me like I was trying to scam him out of something when I asked if they were participating in Yelp's Texas On Tap event (which all Ginger Man's were supposed to be in on).

    Such a disappointment.

    My new favorite watering hole!!!

The phenomena know as GM now has a location in the 76092.  Taking over a place built for YAWB (yet another wine bar), GM finally gives Southlake men a place to drink a variety of good wheats, IPAs, Stouts/Porters and Lager/Pilsners!

While not having as many drinks on draught as The F!ying S@ucer, the menu is big enough and well laid out.  They have both Red and Blue varietals of Chimay, as well as Duvel.  Prices are not cheap, but then again this is not the Natty Light crowd.

They have a great patio when it is not super hot or raining ice out.  Inside is a perfect replica of a British pub - with an upstairs that can be rented out for private events.
