mmm. 2.5 stars. it's an A-ok but i've experienced better.
CASH ONLY!
Parking: shared parking lot.
Tables: They have two different sizes for pool tables. $8/hour for the smaller ones and $9/hour for the full size. the pool sticks were kind of worn, cue balls in alhambra had newer ones.
Drinks: drinks are pretty cheap here, but then again it was a divey place so.. yeah. hahah. They had shocktop on tap and it was yummmmmmmmmmmmers! a glass of shocktop and a small corona light ran me $8.
Ambiance: Divey. divey. divey! the separate rooms they had the full sized pool tables had these kind of awkward step seats that were covered with carpet along the adjacent wall of the bar. The seats reminded me of bleachers from a gym.. except they had carpet on them. hahah. i'm sure they're comfy maybe? and probably perfect for when you have a group of friends getting drunk while you shoot some pool.. but they looked a lil dirty. shrugg.
I went on a friday night and the place was pretty dead. The customers that were there were a bit older, probably just regulars from the neighborhood.
idk if i'd come back, but who knows! (:
**CASH ONLY***
For one, this place is HUGE. I went for a friends pool tournament.. Pretty serious players that night, pretty serious shrimp cocktails too! beer is $3.50 a bottle, not bad.
all in all, cool, not great..the shrimp cocktails WERE great though, And I think I would come back for that reason only. Just to go into further detail (because THAT was the highlight of my night) the shrimp cocktail guy actually serves them out of his truck, i know this sounds like something that would make you sick, but it was surprisingly the best i've ever had.... and super quality, A+++++
Now the down side, it looks real dirty and RUN DOWN, so not the cleanest, nicest place...
i would have given two, but the cocktail guy got them a extra star!
With 20+ tables, you can definitely find  a table that will fit your style of play.  Easy to get off of from the 605, 10 & 60 freeway and there is ample parking.  On tuesday and thrusday, there is league play.  Only $25 to sign up and $7 a week, it's a good way to get better at pool.   Oh yeah, the place may look a little rough and very Hispanic but don't bother them and they won't bother you.
Review Source:this is the spot if you are looking for a serious pool hall. they are open late, have cheap beer and low rates on table time. tables are well maintained and roll fast. i spent many years shooting pool here after Andy's closed.
the location is super convenient close to 605, 10 & 60 frwys.
this is my favorite spot for a real boys night out.
this is not a foo-foo nice place. if you can't handle rolling in the hood or prefer spotless carpets, perfect tables, and waitress table service for your food, go to a sports bar... this is a pool hall. it is in a rough neighborhood and features all the sights, sounds and smells that you would expect to encounter if you are in the hood. what can i say, it feels like home to me!!! Â - Â enjoy!!!
It's kind of a dive, if you are the type who feels uncomfortable around big seedy looking guys like myself this may not work for you. Located in a somewhat seedy looking strip mall, upscale it is not. That being said, I have always had a good time there. There are other games being played there too, it looked like domino's to me that can get quite loud. The place looks very dated and like a fist fight would not be out of place, anyone want to meet there for a game?
Review Source:Ah My Childhood!
Shooting Pool was a way to let off some Steam.
Of Course we get older and start making money and buy big homes with Game Rooms and Buy our own Pool Table. Sometimes you just wish you were dirt poor again and hanging out in seedy, dirty, smokey, smelly pool halls. Where you think you are a good pool player but there is always someone better than you there hustling.
18 years later nothing has Changed!
Golden Cue is still here. Golden Cue is still seedy, dirty, smokey, and smelly. And the topper since 3 of us walked in and asked to play in the Action Room where it cost an additional $1 per hour. You should of seen how many pool hustlers were checking us out. They would of had us for lunch since the tables are Tournament size, have the professional felt, and really tight pockets. Oh and we were playing with crooked house Cues. We were not gonna play anybody because we are not that stupid. Not to mention no one asked! Maybe they just saw how bad we really were and figured it was to easy. I don't know!
Overall I had a great time coming back to my old stomping ground. The pitchers of beer are cheap, $8.00 and jukebox has tons of old school Classics. It was a spur of the moment that brought us here and my friends and I enjoyed it. Golden Cue has lots of kool league Tournaments as well. Maybe I could convince my buds to form a Team. Wishful Thinking!
Enjoy
Cheers
