Gourmet Teriyaki has been on Mercer Island for a long time; albeit several name changes.
Even though I've been going here for probably 15-20 years, there isn't much to talk about.
I can sum up Gourmet Teriyaki in one word: Standard.
Everything is pretty much standard; nothing really special in the way of food, atmosphere, or service. Consistent and reliable are two other good words to describe them.
I like the mixed meat (light + dark) chicken teriyaki and the chicken yakisoba. Both run-of-the-mill.
For the money, I think they provide a good value. Their portions are typically large.
I came here with a couple friends after hanging out at the library. Â It was my first time here. Â I wasn't really in the mood for teriyaki, but I came here anyway because I had heard good things about this place, my friends like it, and I wanted Japanese food anyway.
I ordered chicken yakisoba, and it was piping hot when it came out (rather quickly). Â My other buddies seemed to be happy with their order, they mostly got chicken teriyaki, the firs thing on the menu.
I'll be back to try other things because the yakisoba was satisfactory.
