The only thing that made my night enjoyable was seeing the guy I came to see, Colin Quin. He was hilarious. He gets 5 stars, but I can't say much good for the establishment itself...

If you go, DO NOT BUY THE VIP TICKETS it is a WASTE OF MONEY. Get regular seating, and if your gonna order food, get appetizers because at least you know what you're getting, fried bar food that is hot and cooked thoroughly.  Here is my story to back this up:

I ordered 2 "VIP" tickets with an included dinner. Don't ever do this. Dinner rolls came out still frozen. I asked to waiter just to throw them in the microwave or something, instead he comes out (20 mins later) with garlic bread (not the rolls) and it was cold again.

I ordered from the special dinner menu, rib eye steak... it was obviously not a rib eye when it came out (false advertisement), and it was cold, again. I did not eat it with fear of getting sick... if the cook can't even heat up bread properly how am I supposed to trust a steak? My girlfriend had some chicken and pasta dish, it was also terrible. I cook better meals at home for a fraction of the price this is no joke. I wound up ordering motz sticks since I refused to eat the crap they had been bringing me and it was the only good thing I ate all night.

I didn't bother to send anything back after the 2nd bread incident; the server didn't bother to follow up on anything, even after returning the bread. No "how is everything" or anything like that... so the food was bad and the service was bad...

Go for the comedy, not for the food or service. If they could only pay some attention to important details like this then this place would be much more enjoyable.

I'm on their mailing list, so I only go out here when the admission is free. Easy to get to from Brooklyn or Queens and there is plenty of free parking. The bar grub is pretty good and reasonably priced. Stay away from the mixed drinks and have beer or wine. These are 2 things the bar staff can't water down and overcharge for. Tip is inclusive in your bill, so keep an eye on your tab when you get it. I've been here 5 or 6 times, and it is much better than going to Manhattan to overspend.

Went here on Saturday night to see Joey Kola.  His show was hilarious.  Opening act was very good too.  Tickets were reasonably priced at $22.  The bill at our table for a party of three with mandatory purchase of 2 drinks and some apps came to $64.  I am not sure if that included tip or not, but we also tipped the waitress so next time I will definitely read the bill more closely.  You can see from any seat in the house which is great.  You cannot reserve specific tables though - first come, first served.  The place could use some updating, but it was fine for what we came out for.  The food and drinks were typical of any bar.  We definitely laughed the night away and will go back.  Ladies - definitely bring a sweater because I was freezing in there!

Best comedy venue on Long Island. It's big and they get top acts that you would normally have to go to the city to see. The food and beer selection could be better.

I have been on Long Island for many years but we had never been to Governors. I'm glad we didn't listen to any of the negative reviews. It didn't seem run down or dirty at all. We went on a Tues night. The rest rooms were clean and the service was pretty good.As for the drinks, we had LI ice tea's, cosmos and beers and the were all very good, especially the cosmo (very strong). The food was decent as well.We will definitely be going back

We decided to go to Governor's Comedy Club of Levittown as they are famous for having nationally recognized headliners in addition to local comics. Upon entering the place, you   feel as if you are in a night club.  Governor's is dimly lit with black ceilings and walls and the typical super cozy comedy club seating arrangements for dinner and/or watching the show. The headliner on the night we attended was Dom Irrera, who was hysterical despite the fact that half of his act was material that I've aleady seen from a few years ago. Joey Kola and a couple of other local comics opened for him and were fantastic. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Governor's offer a dining option which after selecting it was determined to be somewhat disappointing considering the price of it. The quality of the food was no better than something you would see at a low end buffet court or pub. My suggestion is to pass on the dinner option and go to a nice restaurant either before or after the show depending on the time of day. There is a 2 drink minimum which is standard practice in comedy clubs around the area. Expect to pay 11 bucks and up for a bottled beer or a glass of wine. Overall, a very good place to laugh and not so good place to eat.

Great date night @ Governor's Comedy Club, laughing my ass off ! One of the funniest shows I've ever seen Tim Gage/Joe Starr/Mick Thomas & Dom Irrera. Thanks to my Brendan Jones for getting us tickets !!!

Truly always have a good time @ Governor's.  We have tried 2 of their three locations, Levittown & Bohemia.  The Governor's in Bellmore is next on the list.

Comedians were great. But see them elsewhere.  Wait staff was super unfriendly and we had planned to tip low, but the joke was on us when we found the gratuity is always added to each bill.  The door man was useless, and the general setup was chaos.  If this is your first time here, no one will help you figure out where to go and when.  The drinks were terrible.  Service even worse, by our surly eastern European waitress.

Have to been twice so far to Governor's and have had a great time each time. The big plus to this club is how close it is to my house. I do love some of the comedy clubs in the city but it can be a bit of event sometimes to travel there. The food I've had has been decent though we have only ordered appetizers and though there is a two drink minimum, they do count soda, juice and bottled water as drinks in addition to the alcoholic beverages. Would return to Governor's!

We've come here so many times and every time, we've had a blast.  They serve bar food so stick with the usual suspects like, buffalo wings, fries, etc.  I had the fried shrimp and DID NOT enjoy.  They are out to make their money and I have to say, when ordering drinks, be careful.  Order drinks with the least amount of ingredients because they water down EVERYTHING.  The first time I went there and ordered a red wine and I could tell there was water in it.  Now, we pretty much stick to rum & coke.

The acts are decent, of course, we've only gone when we have gotten free tickets.  Yup!  If you ever get a chance to go, fill out the card they leave on the tables and eventually, you will be given a voucher for up to 8 free tickets to attend one of their shows.  The problem with that is if you go to a lot of the free tickets show,s the chances of hearing repeat jokes increases exponentially.

It's nice to go with a large group and sit close to the stage because the comedians interact with the audience and the energy gets pumping.  It's a nice spot to try out.  You'll definitely laugh your ass off at some point in the evening.

Governors is a great place.  The food is decent, but not great.  The drink prices are too high, presumably because they offer free tickets and a 2 drink minimum.  With that said, it is well worth it to buy two $6-$7 bud lights for a hliarious comedy show.  I have been here 10 times and every show has been hilarious to say the least.  The place is kind of small and you may end up sitting with strangers, but hey it's a comedy club.  This is one of the funnest things to do on long island.  Make sure if you plan to come here, you have a sense of humor.

For a Long Island comedy club, it's not bad at all. Many complain about the service and the drinks. I've been here many times with the free passes and a few times for headliners. I've never had bad service one time! As for the drinks, I only drink beer so I haven't been raped by the expensive drinks and no idea if they're watered down. Realistically, if you're using the free passes, they have to make money somehow. Not trying to make excuses for them, but you're getting in for free! If you don't like it, go into the city...you'll pay 20-25$ to get in and then pay more for the drinks and it will still be a 2 drink minimum. My advice...drink beer and don't eat there. The food didn't look bad, but not great either. looks like bar type food, so you kinda know what to expect! The comedians have been hit or miss. Sometimes 1, 2, or 3 comedians on the free pass nights. Sometimes they've all been good, sometimes just 1 or 2. overall, I would definitely say to go and check it out, particularly with the free passes! As for the drinks and food, drink beer and eat before you go to the show! Oh also, if you go with someone who is only having 1 drink and you planned on drinking 3 drinks to make up for their 2-drink minimum, make sure she orders it. they charged me for an extra drink once saying that she didn't drink her 2 drinks because I ordered it! Oh and tips are added automatically to your check, so DON'T tip!

Certainly better than Carolines.  Food is mediocre, and they really pack you in close when it comes to seating, but at least every table has a good view of the stage.

Having never been to a comedy club before, this wasn't exactly the best impression.  The tables are sticky.  Bathrooms are gross.  Overall, it seems just unkempt and dirty.  The venue is really uninviting and the 2 drinks that are forced upon you aren't great either and kinda pricey for a venue of this type.  We went to support a friend and it will probably be the only time we will ever be there again.

if you like to be treated like crap, and spend a whole paycheck for one hour... go to governers.

i went with my family, i was excited while we were being sat, and i was enthused and said "yay" and i was told to calm down by the idiot who sat me.
after i was sat, i realized that 3 of my family members did not get in. i simply went to the front, asked the man letting people in that my family was still out there and were unable to get in..  he copped an attitude, told me he wasnt going to stand there and have an argument with me. he gave me no choice to respond, because he turned completely around with his back facing me.

during the main act, i asked the comedian to do one of his funny bits, he made fun of me..fine.. thats what they do.

management came, whispered in my ear that i had to calm down. needless to say that had really spoiled my night, i couldnt laugh anymore, and i was NOT allowed to have a good time.

to top this off, my husband and i had 4 drinks between the two of us, and paid $80.

ID GIVE THIS NO STARS but clearly I can't.

Probably the best comedy club on long island.  Though as you can see by my two stars,  that isn't saying much.

This place gives out tons of free passes in the mail,  so if you're paying to get in, you probably shouldn't be.

Of course the comedians on the free nights are not all great, but they are mostly entertaining.   The problem comes in with the drinks.   Since they give free passes, they ask for a two drink minimum,  and all of the drinks they serve are watered down, gross, and very expensive.

So if you're looking for a night out at a comedy club on long island, it's either this or brokerage (both owned by the same people),  so don't expect greatness.    If you can still afford the train fare into the city with these ridiculous fare hikes,  go there instead.  You'll have a better time.

I've only been here with free passes. Comics are usually pretty funny. Not all of them but no matter where you go they never are ALL funny.

Drinks arent as overpriced as city clubs.

i never have a bad time here

This place is HORRIBLE!!!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY!!

the waitresses are a mess and can't carry drinks!

spilt drinks all over us and the entire table!
Place said they would pay for dry cleaning and my cell phone that was ruined and they never did! They even called ME and asked for my address to send the check to, and never sent it!

Place is run down and old. Drinks are watered down and over priced. Drive 25 mins more and go into the city, much better places!!

I have to tell you, the few times I've been here the service sucked ass. Ain't nuthin funny about that!

The place is a pretty good size - and they pack them in at the tables.  They get all the usual headliners as everyone else.

I've never had good service here - the waitresses range from decent to horrible-  I usually end up with miss horrible.  I get the feeling that the kitchen must be teeny and when everyone places their orders at roughly the same time, the kitchen gets overwhelmed.  This is just my gut feeling.

It is either that, or the waitress just has a blatant disregard for serving people in a timely fashion.

I prefer to go to other comedy places.
