Worst buffet I've ever been to! Years ago, I really liked this buffet , but now I don't.  I went here with my family before dinner time, and the food was not fresh, seemed like the food was out for a long time. Also, their sushi was very watery and tasteless. The restaurant itself was very messy and dirty , and the restroom was very disgusting.
There is this saying, "If you look at the restaurant's restroom, then you can determine how clean the restaurant is. "
So I won't be returning to this restaurant at all!

I typically avoid Chinese Buffets for all of the typical reasons one avoids them - quality of food, cleanliness, and temptation to overeat. That said, I like this buffet and stop by and overeat every few months. Then I head back to my office and try not to fall asleep all afternoon.

The coconut shrimp are great as is the peanut chicken. The egg rolls and crab Rangoon are not so good but I have had worse. None of the food, including General Tso's Chicken, is spicy - it is all very bland.

In this huge buffet, they also have some sushi rolls but I have never braved trying sushi from a buffet counter. A few of the people I eat here with say it is not so bad... I will just take their word for it.

This is one of those in-and-out type buffets. I have never had to wait for a table and since it is self-service, you can be done with your food as quickly as you like. If it was not for my over eating

In the mood for some Chinese Buffet? Have you been craving that Kung Pao Chicken? Do you have a Colonoscopy scheduled for tomorrow that you've forgotten to prep for?! Well then... with Grand Buffet, everything but your wallet can be cleaned out in one fell swoop.

Upon entering, one can't help but first notice just how big the entire place is, adjoining Sports Bar included; in a way its a bit overwhelming and you may end up short-winded by the time you make it from your table to the buffet area and back.

Upon being seated, their friendly staff takes your drink order and off you go...Their buffet selection is huge, with items ranging from salads, American Favorites, to desserts, enough to satisfy pretty much everyone. Honestly, I've had better elsewhere, but for the price and amount of selection they've got, you really can't beat it, especially when you're in a time crunch for lunch.

Your "typical" Chinese Buffet. Although, this one is VERY big and has lots of choices. Lots of areas to sit and the service is very friendly.

Yes, it's your normal salty, Americanized Chinese buffet, but if that's what you're craving, it hits the spot for sure. I think they have a nice size buffet, with a grill area and sushi bar I've been here a hand-full of times. I was only really unimpressed one time, and it was about an hour before closing on a weeknight, so what can you expect?

It's okay, not that bad as some people are claiming the food to be, I have had much worst.  It is your typical chinese buffet, have had better, have had worst so for me it is just okay. It is always crowded, I think if the food was horrible people would not go back and we do. I like the crab with cheese that they have, sushi is not that great but will do.

As Woody Allen said....bad food and such small portions!  Buffet sized portions of bad food in this case.  Fat guys eat it up.

Contrary to the 2 & 3 star reviews I've read, The Grand Buffet has a wide selection of food you can pick from. Chicken of all varieties, sushi, shrimp--they even serve pizza and garlic bread! And best of all, you can eat and drink however much you want and pay at the end.

I first went there with my sci-fi club during one of their monthly meetings as an alternative until the reservations errors at the other restaurant were resolved. I would definitely recommend going to this place. Heck, my family and I are thinking about going again sometime.

This my BF's fave Chinese Buffet, so I have dined there now a few times.  Big selection means that everyone should be able to find something they like.

His love is the peanut chicken.  Sushi selections are not bad for a "chinese" buffet,  but will not satisfy the devoted and knowledgable sushi eater.  My picks:  boneless spare ribs, lo mein noodles, hot and sour soup, buffalo spicy shrimp, cold seafood salad.  Rice pudding for dessert.

Decor is above average. Comfortable, except for the smoke coming from the attached sports bar. Service is attentive; almost too so at times.  It felt like we were being hovered over during our last visit to refill water and clear plates.

Mei Mei Buffet on US75 at Meadow in Dallas is still my fave for the Chinese Buffet circuit.

Well, let's see... where should I start?
Construction, babies running around screaming in diapers, bland food or one of the other factors that made this a place I'll never return to?
I'm eating... the food's not that great and based on that alone, I was sure I would never come here again... then the jack hammering and banging begins.  Our waiter gets into a shouting match with someone causing this banging, as well as the manager (I assume) as to why this shouldn't be going on while people are trying to eat.  (ya think?!)
Then the family enters with what looked to be an almost 18 month old in a diaper, screaming and crying when he wasn't allowed to run rampant through the place... so guess what they let him do?  Yep.  Baby in diaper running around.  Awesome.
    The food was awful.
The craziness that was "Grand Buffet" is not something I'll ever choose to journey into again.

Either the waitstaff can't read/don't know English and can't label the food properly, or the buffet line is at the mercy of pranksters. So trying to divine the contents of certain dishes can be a challenge, especially if you're a novice at this buffet and are looking for something specific.

Luckily I know my way around an Asian menu, and I can report that most of the standards are represented on their line: fried rice, broccoli beef, hunan chicken, chicken in black bean sauce, fried dumplings, lo mein, string beans, mapo tofu etc. Other than the veggies and rice, I steered clear of the typical menu and went for the riskier options, like the soup/seafood line, stocked with broiled fish and baked mussels. While I found the sweet chili sauce fish too tough, the butter-herbed broiled salmon was still moist and tasty. Baked mussels were a miss, partly because the scant portion of mayo sauce could barely disguise its frozen aftertaste.

Grand Buffet also offers a Mongolian grill with a small selection of meats and veggies available, but I stuck to the ready-to-eat buffet tables. On the grilled line, I liked that bbq pork was available; sadly it was swimming in red sauce, most likely to keep it moist. The grilled chicken also was moist, but devoid of flavor. I found the teriyaki chicken a disappointment; the sauce lacked the classic thickness and sweetness of that sauce. A bizarre rendition of peanut sauce chicken stood out, but the gritty batter-fried coating was at odds with the sweet peanut sauce.

Grand China also has a substantial, kid-friendly selection on their fried line, from pizza and mini corn dogs, to egg rolls, tempura, and crab rangoon. Unexpectedly, the crab rangoon was quite good--thin and crisp, a very light wonton wrapping a dollop of crab/cream cheese filling. Sweet bread was also addicting: fresh from the kitchen, soft and warm, and lightly sugary.

The cold bar was stocked with california rolls, most of which were unappetizing. I was pleased to find seaweed and kimchee (both acceptable) along with the sushi and salad options. Their dessert bar was stocked with the canned fruit standards, along with straight-from-the-warehouse cookies and cakes. Their in-house fruit salad had a terrible sourness that disagreed with me; at which point, I got up and paid the bill.

Grand Buffet also allows you to pay by the pound for to-go orders. But I think at 9.99 weekday evenings Grand Buffet is overpriced for what you get.

Sportsbar side is horrible!! I went to this place for the first time last night (5/5/11) for a co-worker function for karaoke and it was horrible.  We arrived around 730PM and I left after around an hour.  Too smoked up from cigarettes and the bartender was VERY rude!! She had an attitude the entire night.  She rolled her eyes when my friend and I approached the bar and even threw her hand in the air like we were getting on her nerves.  The first time we went to the bar, she advised us that we had a waitress.  I told her I understood that, but being that we waited for the waitress to come take our orders, we decided to get drinks from the bar instead.  Since then, the attitude occurred all night.  I won't be going back to the place anytime soon and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as well.  They would do a better job getting a professional bartender who doesn't mind giving quality customer service.  Even the men at the bar were asking her what her problem was.

It's Chinese buffet people, don't expect much more than that. This place is clean, affordable, offers a decent variety of dishes, and for the most part they are fresh. Don't look for the most gourmet/authentic Chinese dishes but know that you'll be getting solid Americanized dishes such as: lo mein, sesame chicken, broccoli beef, egg rolls etc. You'll get out around $10 with a full belly.

Good Chinese buffet with wide variety of foods.  Inexpensive.   Easy parking and excellent location.

This place is the bees knees of the Chinese buffet, not only is the food the best around but you get to eat all that you want! They also have a surprisingly stunning chandelier. This place really did surprise me by not only having some of the best food, but by having so many options. They even have a big mongolian grill and sushi that isn't too bad.

Customer service is alright , but to be completely honest it doesn't have to be anything spectacular. You will get all the food yourself and the waiters just need to refill a drink which they do well. This is my go to place when i want a large amount of Chinese food and don't mind spending a couple of extra bucks

Been here a couple of times with a friend and its consistently a decent spot to eat at.  The food is fresh and doesn't sit for very long which is great for a buffet.  There is a wide selection to satisfy every persons wants so feel free to bring guests here...they will find something they like!

My friends and I call this place "The Grand Mystery Buffet and Day Care Center" because about 1/3 of the entrees are mislabeled or not labeled at all and parents let their children run around like it's a McDonald's Play Place.

The food is average.  I don't know what else to say about it.  Next door is a sports bar that serves pizza.  I don't get the connection between the two, but whatever.

Good for guys hanging out.  Or the girls hanging out.  Went for lunch, not sure how the night life is here.  This is Amerinese food, MSG for sure.  Still tasty enough to eat, but way to expensive, I guess you pay more for getting more food.  Good design, but design doesn't match the food.  Basically if you want to pig out go here.

I'm definitely reviewing the "sports bar" side of this establishment as I've never checked out the buffet. This is the stereotypical dive bar, with the shady karaoke stage and old waitresses and all. I absolutely love it when I want to go hide somewhere after work because no one goes here and they have the BEST happy hour.

Also, this bar gets a +1 in my book for carrying Shiner Bock on draft and NOT calling it an import. Most insane bars in Texas call it an import and guess what, it's made in Shiner, TX!! So happy to be able to get a HUGE glass of Shiner for $2. Thank you very much.

Love it for all the shady waitresses, the dark atmosphere, the creepy karaoke stage and the fact that it's connected to a chinese buffet. All of this = win.

I've been here a few times....never at my suggestion.

In my 14 years of living in/visiting the Dallas area, I've NEVER been able to find any decent Chinese food.  This place is a combo buffet....so not sure it is "Chinese"...

Anyways....the deal is simple.  Big buffet of "borderline" food that people make the mistake of paying $10 for.

I won't be back here at my suggestion.

Parking is good, more in back if needed.

    Service is good too.

I have driven past this place a thousand times, but never considered it for lunch because it just looked so... i don't know... cheesy. I can't believe it took me so long to finally discover it! I will definitely be hitting up the Grand Buffet in the future to indulge my craving for yummy Chinese buffet food. The sheer variety of dishes is impressive, but even better, everything I tried was fresh and flavorful. I hate going to a Chinese buffet and seeing those sad dishes of food that look like they've been sitting out all day. All of the hot dishes were piping hot and very well-maintained. The fresh salad bar was extensive, and they even had romaine lettuce in addition to the typical iceberg. I tried the egg drop soup and it was perfect (not too thick, ew) and they even had freshly sliced scallions to put on top. The fried shrimp were an unexpected addition, and the breading was so crunchy and good. They had some "sushi" too--in quotations because I didn't see any raw fish, but the California-style rolls were perfect for those of you with less daring tastes. Service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was great as well. If you live or work nearby, you've gotta give it a try!

    Grand adj
    1. outstanding and impressive in appearance, extent or style
    2. impressive, ambitious, far-reaching
    3. worth of great respect by virtue of exceptional ability of high rank
    4. wonderful, enjoyable, memorable
    5. in the case of Grand Buffet, please see definition for inedible, disgusting, and/or gag-reflex

After several enthusiastic, thumbs-up reviews from our co-workers, our group headed off on an adventure to The Grand Buffet. The place was packed, which led me to believe that I might actually enjoy this Asian buffet experience. There were all sorts of people there: business people on lunch breaks, families, dude-bros, potential rapists, grandmas, creepy guys who liked to stare, pushy fat guys, and even solo diners. But wait...were there any Asians in this Asian buffet? Surely, this being THE Grand Buffet, there would be some Asians enjoying the traditional shriveled mini hot dog in a crab rangoon blanket. Right? Wrong! That should have been my first clue that this place was going to be horrible.

When we arrived I was hungry enough to go at least 3 rounds, not including a trip to the dessert bar. But as soon as I started walking past the aisles of steaming, gooey, random trays of blah my heart sank...it was then that I knew all I would be having for lunch was Jello with a splash of vomit and one long, curly black hair.

    Choice quotes from our visit:
"It tastes like [long pause] bad."
"The best thing here is the water."
"Yum! This is soooo [long sarcastic drag out of word] good!"
    "What is that?????"
"This is the worst lunch experience EVER!"

Why was The Grand Buffet packed with people? I have no idea. Why was everything, even the fruit, dripping with weird slimy ooze? Don't ask me. Should you go to The Grand Buffet? Only if you're the type of person who doesn't care about what you're putting into your body.

I am giving these guys 4 stars for a couple of reasons.  The selection is impressive, awesome lunch place - has something for everyone and you can get in and out.  The value for the price is amazing.  Food quality is not amazing, but for a buffet, my best choice of the metroplex.  Have so many different things that you can always find the good and stick with it.  Worked next door, and we all liked it - especially people from out of town.  It is NOT a real Chinese place, nor a high end one - but a simple lunch option with lots of choices, decent price and opportunity to pig out!

I have been to roughly 15 chinese buffets in the DFW area and so I am basing my rating off of the "competition." I'm used to delicious buffets where I'm from but here they have all left something to be desired! This has to be the best buffet I have EVER been to here in Texas and if anyone finds anything better please let me know. Ive eaten here probably at least 10 times they have a HUGE selection of food, Mongolian grill, sushi (not so great),cold crab legs at dinner, pretty darn good when you craving some chinese and you want a variety. I love the egg rolls, crab rangoon, peanut chicken, and kung poa spicy jalapeno chicken. Watch out though...if you get it to go they weigh it by the pound....pricey! Lunch is about 8.99 and dinner 9.99.

You'll get to read a lot of contradicting reviews on here with people rating this place from ordinary to pretty good. The reason is it depends on how frequently you eat out and your terminology of what you call "good" (chinese) food.

This buffet is definitely one of those mammoth chinese buffets with 6000 dishes (pun intended) and a huge seating capacity. On a good chinese food scale, it would get around 5 on a 10 point scale. The food is not cheap by any means, so that is not an incentive either . If you ever happened to peek into their kitchen by any means (like me), you'll see that they probably do have some hygiene issues like most of the not-so-esthetic chinese resturants.

Overall it is ok for a once in a while quick meal if you are in the area or feel like getting chinese. If you want more esthetic asian meal, goto Royal Chopstix which is 635 too but on the west side of McArthur

The buffet food is horrible. Everything tastes old. I used to really like going to the bar attached to the buffet until they brought in a crappy karaoke DJ. I love karaoke so I was really excited about it at first. Two weekends in a row I gathered up friends to go sing and drink there. This karaoke dj loves to hear himself sing and will only let you sing one time. He will just play his friends over and over and over. If you are looking for a good place to do karaoke, this is NOT it! And its really too bad, because the bartenders here are so nice and good at their jobs. Drinks are inexpensive and they have shuffleboard and pool tables. If it weren't for the karaoke DJ, I would go there again. If I am going to go out and drink and sing, I don't want to hear the DJ and his buddies up on the stage all night. Oh, and if you don't tip him when you first go up there, he will shake the tip jar at you and get red in the face. I hope they get a new person to run their karaoke.

its funny how we go to the bar thats attached to it to drink instead of eat...i havent eaten the buffet but we ate the pizza lol...not bad at all but hey it works...its more of a blue collar crowd/smokey environment...i like that.......they got karaoke starting around 7pm so get tanked and get up there and sing some teen spirit...mike and julia likes it so its all good

Lunch here is a bit pricier ($9 w/o a drink) than most Chinese buffets, but I don't think it's entirely unreasonable based on the sheer size of this buffet.  It's huge.  There are a ton of choices here.  A dessert bar.  A (fake) sushi bar.  A salad bar.  A soup bar w/ noodles and steamed dumplings.  A fried food bar with your sweet and sour variations, crab rangoons, french fries, etc.   And finally, two long bars of Chinese dishes.  This place also has creamed spinach, stuffed mushrooms, and peanut chicken (which is yummy).

The food is pretty good if you know what to get.  Obviously, don't make the same mistake Fran L. and I did by getting the sushi.  It's a Chinese buffet, what can you possibly expect?  My roll had lettuce in it.  Who puts Romaine lettuce in a sushi roll?  Fran almost choked on hers because the rice was so hard and old.  Ew.  Other than the sushi though, everything else here is good.  I love the peanut chicken, the pan-fried dumplings (gyoza), and just about every other hot Chinese dish.

Service is pretty standard of a buffet with mostly just drink service and clearing old plates away.  Our waitress came by frequently and kept my water full.

All in all, a nice place to go when you're craving a Chinese buffet.

I came out to Coppell and told Preston I wanted shitty Chinese food so he took me here.
The buffet is pretty freakin huge..they have all the typical American favorites such as sesame chicken, general tsao's, broccoli beef, donut-style sweet and sour chicken, etc. What was really tasty though was the peanut chicken. Some kind of dark meat fried chicken strips coated in pb..yummm. oh so unhealthy and delicious.
I made the mistake of trying some of their "sushi" which is mostly fishless except for the minimal amount of imitation crab in the cali-wannabe-roll..the replacement of romaine lettuce did not have me fooled for a minute.
All the rice is HARD as hell and I couldn't even breathe for a minute cuz it was so difficult to chew.
The service is good--waters refilled, plates cleared promptly etc.
Anyway, I guess if I am in the mood again I will go and load up on peanut chicken and fruit salad for $9. Yay!

Below average "Chinese" food, like at any other Chinese buffet, except a little bit more pricey. There was renovation going on when we had dinner here and it was definitely uncomfortable seating next to all the work, with just a thin plastic sheet separating us from the remodeling. The sushi is pretty dismal (dried rice, lots of carrot and cucumber, not much of anything else), the mongolian grill is alright, and the rest of the food is just the standard greasy Chinese buffet fare. I was in the mood for cheap Chinese, but honestly I've had better at Panda Express, and with Pei Wei just a couple of blocks away, I could have gone there and got something that tasted better.

Well, you don't really get "service" at a buffet because you fill your own plate, but the people here are nice contrary to some chinese patrons who only ask you "how many" and will never get back to you until they give you the fortune cookie (aka the bill).

Food choice is very extensive. Full sushi, salad, and dessert bars inlcuded, as well as an area for mongolian barbecue which you can request on the spot to be grilled right before your eyes (like what they do on most Japanese restaurants). It's so cool that I once ordered it just to see how the dude does it even if I wasn't gonna eat it. (But it wasn't really any different from the Japanese, I thought they had more fire or something...)
