Bad ... stay away.
We were celebrating our final night in RB with a family dinner for 12 at this location. We got sucked in by the location ... it really does have a great view. That's where it stops.
A waitress spilled 6 drinks down one of our parties back. (6 drinks!) She wasn't paying attention and ran head long into another waitress who wasn't paying attention.
But it didn't start there. Â The manager and owners we're dismissive. Smirky smiles and "we're really sorry." Â They comped us two meals ... it still came to over $200 without any alcohol.
What a terrible end to our vacation!
This place is just a factory for getting people in and out. They didn't care at all for what happened.
Avoid at all costs. The view isn't worth the services.
Stopped here for lunch for the first time since it has opened. Â Got to sit out on the deck. Has to be the best view in Rehoboth. Â Got a seat right away with no wait about 330pm on a Sat mid July which was surprising. Â Had the cheese steak with fries. Â Have had better and worse. Â Tasted like white pepper was on it or something. Â Would like better without that. Â Friend had a burger. She ordered it well done and said it was a little too well done. Â But we did both clean our plates. Â Service was a little slow and they were not super busy but I would go back again for lunch just for the view. Â Not the best place to eat in Rehoboth but nice for some drinks and the ocean.
Review Source:We visited during Memorial Day weekend and the place was busy. Â The hostess was unfriendly bordering on rude, but the view was great and our server attentive and responsive so we settled in for our lunch. Â Out of our party of 7, 3 different entrees were ordered. Â Although they tasted fine, 3 of our party got sick immediately after eating. Yes, all 3 had the same meal, the fish tacos. Â Yikes, we will not be returning.
Review Source:I am a fan of the Green Turtle just about everywhere. Â
We stopped here at the bar to have 1 cocktail. Â We had the fresh squeezed Ruby Red Crush, and a Orange Juice Crush. Â This is the best drinks ever. Â So refreshing. Â There was live acoustic guitar musician singing too. Â
Our bar tender was very polite and provided pleasant service.
No doubt, this place has the view to die for. RIght on the boardwalk; you really couldn't ask for a better location.
Unfortunately, the food and the service doesn't quite live up to the location. The service was painfully slow. It was forever to get our waters/sodas (soda was flat - which the server admitted and then charged us for). Although it was sunday, around lunchtime - it wasn't terribly busy, and yet it took forever for anything to come out of the kitchen. So much so that everything I ordered (maryland crab soup and fish tacos) was cold when it arrived. My fellow dining partners each had cold entrees, like salads (which they raved about) so they didn't experience the luke-cold food I did. Â
Even if it were hot, the fish tacos were flavorless. The maryland crab soup was just okay.
The TV's were so blaringly loud that I couldn't hear anyone at my table speak. I know it's football but I've been to a Buffalo Wild Wings with all the TV's with the sound on, rather loud, and have been able to hear and have a conversation. When I asked a waitress if they could turn it down "just a decibel or 2" - Mind you, I wasn't trying to turn off the game, I have fantasy football players to manage but I also wanted to be able to talk and listen. She had to have me repeat my question because she couldn't hear me, then smirked at me, shrugged and kind of laughed; said she doubted it... but she'd check with the manager. The sound wasn't reduced and she never came back.
All in all this was a major disappointment. I can see coming for a beer, late night, for the view... but otherwise would skip it.
Terrible. The view is nice but that is about it. We went here because friends wanted to and I didn't know better. Food was bland. Had the crab dip and it was missing the crab. My fish tacos had no flavor. Seriously no flavor whatsoever. My husband's burger was blah. Even my sons chicken fingers were nasty. Ya not palace I'd go back to.
Oh and top of it when we looked at our credit card statement it was for almost 3x what we signed for. Called the manager twice to try to resolve the dispute. He said he would take care of it, but 2 weeks and 2 calls later nothign has been done. After 2 week of getting nowhere we had to file a dispute with our credit card company. So not only it the food terrible but they the place is fradulent as well.
Stay away.
If I could give this place a ZERO I would!
As we walked by The Greene Turtle we noticed about 5 empty tables on the outside balcony. Â We went up to ask if we could sit outside. Â The very unfriendly lesbian hostess told us the tables were all full and she was waiting on people. Â I asked how many people were in front of us...to which she said after a moment of thought "I have a party of six waiting" - OK, well, we went to the bar and waited. Â All FIVE tables remained empty for a half hour! Â Yup...sure you were waiting for someone...seems like you were going out of your way to make us irritated or maybe you were saving the seats for your friends...not sure...but regardless it was a way to upset your customers.
I did order a drink from the bar, but had to leave as quickly as possible as the band tonight was playing as loud as possible and damaging my eardrums. Â I could not hear a thing my friend was telling me. Â Never go here on a date....or ever.
Trashy crowd, mean & unorganized lesbian host, LOUD...go somewhere else I beg you! Â Terrible!
Went here for dinner with the family last week, and we were all very positively impressed. Location is great, with awesome views of the beach and the boardwalk. It was crowded but not crazy for an early dinner, so we waited at the bar for a table. Good happy hour prices, with friendly, great bartenders. No complaints at all. The staff was terrific throughout, and we got a great table in the busy, bustling dining room. One of our forks was not perfectly clean, but the waitress apologized profusely, quickly fixed it, and the manager came over to apologize and make sure we were all good as well. Can happen anywhere at any point, and they did an awesome job of making the situation better. Menu had nice, diverse pub fare. Excellent appetizers, with the fried pickle chips being especially strong. They had summer specials on crab items, and the loaded waffle fries with crab featured a lot of yummy, fresh crab meat. We ordered steaks, ribs, fish & chips and a shrimp salad and no one had any complaints. The food was served super quickly, everything was flavorful, prepared exactly as ordered, and with a smile. Desserts were also excellent. Price was very reasonable, and the place was bumping throughout the meal. Would be a great place to go for a game, for a drink to break the heat of the beach, or for a meal. For a first impression, we were all very impressed and I believe this will become part of our weekly rotation of dinner spots when we are in town. An excellent meal and a great place. Strongly recommended.
Review Source:Five stars for the view only. Â As you can already tell from other reviews, you're taking your chances if you order food. Â I ordered apps there once & they were adequate as compared w/typical bar snacks. Â This is one of the few bars in town from where you can see the ocean. Â Go before dark & enjoy a beverage while looking at the Atlantic Ocean!
Review Source:It's all about location and atmosphere here. It's conveniently located right on the boardwalk. There's a great wrap around balcony where you can enjoy dinner and drinks with a priceless view of the ocean.
Granted the food isn't that great, but it's also not that bad. It's what you would expect from a bar. Good salads, burgers, wings, fries and beer. What more do you need while you take in the sights?! And the price is right as well. You won't have to break the piggy bank here.
The service is good too. Our waitress was very attentive. I would definitely come back for a late night snack and drinks with friends.
This was...disappointing, to say the least.
However I need to give recognition to our waitress Brooke, who was very apologetic and helpful when it came to our issues.
My chicken was burned. And I know nothing about deep frying, but these were cooked REALLY poorly. Dad had to send back his first cheesesteak because it was cold, and it didn't have the lettuce and tomato he asked for. The second one had everything, but was dripping wet. However, Grandmother's soup was hot and yummy.
About an hour after eating this, I feel a little sick. Perhaps I got burned chicken poisoning???
The manager was very understanding to our issues and removed the chicken and cheesesteak from the bill. However, we aren't coming back anytime soon.
Modest Expectations, failed miserably
Pros
Great location on the boardwalk; upstairs
Great view of the ocean
Clean, well-maintained
Hostesses that make me miss high school
Friendly servers
Cons
Glacial speed kitchen
1 meal burned, one cold, re-meal soaking wet, filthy-dirty silverware, bitter coffee, one meal correct. 20% = F-
Noticeable strong cold breeze at table
Recommendation
Good location to stop in for a beer at the bar on the way to eat somewhere else
This boardwalk tourist sports bar is fabulous for the location, but was determined to be only mediocre in comparison to its stiff competition of other seafood eats.
The balcony view is great, only you can't bring your beer outside with you; it has to remain inside closed quarters. Â I get they don't want boardwalk walkers below to get beer rained on them; I wouldn't either.
My boyfriend and I decided to go for the crab dip with pretzel bread sticks to dip, fish tacos and the crab cake sliders. Â
Dip: it was WAYYY too salty with the pretzel sticks - have the dip alone on a fork and you'll appreciate it much more. Â We probably should have tried something more standard than this.
Sliders: The highlight of the meal; great lump crabmeat on a potato roll with mouth watering sauce - Â a great crowd pleaser!
Fish tacos - nothing too unique with these; nice rub but overall underwhelming.
Our waitress went missing for a good portion of the meal which was annoying; had to hunt her down to deduct our Yelp check-in coupon - worth it though!
Green Turtle, I would walk back to you - not run.
I asked the hostess (please wait to be seated) if my party had arrived and she said airly, looking  up at the ceiling "We don't take names...." and continued to stare at the ceiling tiles, so I made my way into this upstairs sports bar to find my party. As we waited (a while) for our food (simple burgers, sandwiches and salads and bar snacks) we unwrapped our silverware. This was exciting! It took 10 sets to find ONE set that wasn't completely covered with crud. I'm not talking hazy, I'm talking stuff stuck on the knives in lumps. We asked for more silverware  and eventually we found a set that was relatively clean, if hazy. Meanwhile, one of us ordered crab soup and it arrived, stone cold. This was a sign of things to come. Â
The salad arrived and it was obviously made a week before, wrapped in plastic wrap and left to ferment. The meat on top was rubbery, un-cuttable by any knife and stiff, the avocados had that tingly taste from rotting and the lettuce even on the bottom had already picked up the pepper taste from the pepper jack. The manager did come by and mumble that he had to look into the kitchen and take it off the tab, but denied the salad wasn't fresh. The meat was "redone" but all the kitchen did was coat it with sauce and rearrange it on a plate, same rubbery badly cooked, refrigerated, stale steak strips. Gross. If by "fresh" you mean it was made this year, then it was fresh, I'll agree.
We had some bar snacks (unremarkable popcorn shrimp, looked to be frozen and reheated) and some soft pretzel sticks (very nice) with a spicy cheese dip. If you're going to drink and eat snacks, I think this place is fine, especially outside with a nice view of boardwalk and ocean. Otherwise, I'd suggest washing the utensils and above all, avoid anything except food that has been deep fried or baked from frozen-premade food lest you get sick. And expect to overpay somewhat for it. Not recommended.
(This is a 1.5 star review, and the half star addition is given for the view)
To quote my then, 6 year old sister during a family road trip vacation in Quebec, Canada back in the mid 1980's-
"Mommy, I don't feel so good..."
She then proceeded to vomit Burger King strawberry milkshake all over the backseat of our 1982 Malibu Classic. My father slammed on the brakes, pulled the car over to the side of the road, and the both of us jumped out before the car had even skidded to a stop. My poor Mom. Bless her for consoling, and cleaning up my sister. My Dad and I are both assholes. I only wish I had jumped out of the window of the Green Turtle before my food had been served during my one, and only visit.
Thankfully, I did not vomit after my meal at the Green Turtle, but I made sure to take plenty of Tum's after wards. Where shall I begin?
My wife and I decided to grab lunch at the "new" Green Turtle on the Rehoboth boardwalk. It is an upstairs restaurant with a fantastic view of the beach. After climbing the stairs we were greeted by a bubbly, underage hostess who appeared to have applied her make up in the morning by loading a shotgun full of it, pointing it in the general direction of her face, and pulling the trigger. Wow. Hot mess, indeed.
After being seated, we both ordered salads, and a bowl of crab soup. The soup came first, and was barely passable. It was Maryland style, but was all veggies, lacking flavor, and very little crab meat. Very meh. Our salads showed up next, and my biggest mistake was not sending them back. I had ordered some sort of Steak Fajita salad, and my wife had one with chicken on top. How was my salad? Enn to the Izzay, Ess to the Tee Wigh if you'd like me to break it down in Jay Z speak. We were both famished, so we just sucked it up and ate. I was expecting flank or skirt steak on top of mine, but instead what I got was a low grade, stringy, fatty, rump cut cooked rare. Normally, I love rare steak, but this was so bad (greasy and off tasting) I would have preferred it burnt to a crisp. I am still shocked at how rare it was served. My wife claimed her chicken had an odd flavor. Overall, it was not good. As the both of us had had enough of the place, we asked for the check. It was dropped without our plates being cleared. The server then disappeared for ages. After a trip to the bathroom, I found her chatting with coworkers towards the back of the restaurant. She eventually ran our card, came back, and dropped it back off. She still did not clear the plates. Shameful service.
I have been to the Turtle in OC, and the one in Fell's Point, and completely get that it is a step up from a dive bar. Lord only knows how many Natty Boh's I drank in college in both. This past experience though was worse than what I would expect from a TGI Fridays. Bad service, bad food, but wonderful view. That's it. I hate trashing a restaurant solely on one visit, but I really did feel nasty after eating there, the food  was really that bad, and the service was mediocre at best. Being the foodie town that Rehoboth has become, I'd rather go somewhere else than return to the Turtle. If for some reason I do, I'll stick to the Natty Bohs.
After sending a email to the Green Turtle the owner responded very quickly and offered some Green Turtle Bucks. Â We plan on visiting the resturant again in a few weeks to give it another try. Â I gave them 3 stars because it is a A-OK rating, and you gotta give them a big shout for responding to my email. Â I will let ya all know the results. Â Their response was very positive!
Review Source:I went here on our trip to Rehoboth due to a few recommendations from friends, despite the 2 star rating that I found on Yelp. Coming here with higher expectations, I was disappointed to see the lack of atmosphere and service that this place had. The view of the beach/ocean was definitely the most enjoyable part of this place. We waited about an hour for our food, and most of our orders came out wrong. Desperate to eat SOMETHING, I didn't even care at that point. I downed my well done burger (ordered medium) with a dry roll and no seasoning (this burger featured Old Bay seasoning in the description, as it was called the "Chesapeake Burger"). The rest of the menu featured American and chainy-like food that you could get anywhere. A friend of mine got the crab cakes and, being right on the shore, also had high expectations of these. He commented that they were pretty terrible and almost all filler. Overall, I definitely wouldn't come back here. 5 stars for the view and convenient location, 1 for service, and 1 for food. Not quite sure what has made this place popular enough to deserve a gift shop on the bottom level. I guess if you market your business enough, people will come.
Review Source:Ugh, I had to resort to coming here because my party was hungry and didn't know where to go. Â Alas fate had determined that we should be standing right next to the green turtle. Â While I hesitate to review chain bars, this particular green turtle was so exceedingly terrible that it behooved to write this negative review.
I'm sitting there baking in the sun and asking three times for a water before I get one. Â My hair is dark so I'm literally cooking myself and my brains probably would've tasted better than the food they serve. Â If getting a water took forever, the check managed to take even longer to arrive.
For the food, I had to order a generic sandwich which was extremely expensive just because this place had a nice view of the beach. Â Quit trying to serve bar food at high end foie gras prices. Â So couple non existent service with terrible food and you have the single low point of my vacation.
After the meal, I then had to put up with months of green turtle commercials on the airwaves. Â "Meet me at the Turtle!" Â Um... no, I'd rather not.
The ONLY reason to go to the Green Turtle on the boardwalk is the location and view. Â The food is absolutely the worst ever. Â We've been there 3 times and hope everytime will be different- wrong! Â the food is literally inedible. Â Even all the silverware, glasses and dishes were totally dirty. Â Great view and location though!
Review Source:I cannot tell you much about the food, service, or view from this second floor restaurant. Â You see, there is no elevator and I cannot maneuver stairs. Â I cannot believe that they spent ALL that money on the renovation of this building but decided to discriminate against those of us who are disabled. Â SHAME ON YOU GREENE TURTLE!!
Review Source:Our group had a geuninely terrible experience here. While the view is nice and the location is convenient, the service was just abysmal.
We were a party of eight, and they tried to seat us at a table for 5. The hostess pulled up two more chairs and left. I'm no math whiz, but...
The story continued through the evening, with incredibly long delays punctuated by wrong orders, missing food and other assorted trouble.
The highlight was when I ordered something that the restaurant had run out of (hot wings, which it strikes me as bizarre for a bar food place to run out of) -- I asked for a minute to make up my mind, and the waiter didn't come back for 20 minutes, which not only delayed my order, but everyone else at the table's.
The food then took nearly a half-hour to emerge from the kitchen -- no apologies, no explanations, just a late dinner. The food itself was unremarkable, even for bar food, which is not saying much.
In the end, despite the location, find another place to eat in Rehoboth. The Greene Turtle just isn't worth your time and money.
Right on the boardwalk, which is rare for Rehoboth Beach-might be three other restaurants that have the view the Green Turtle has.
The view is amazing, which you can experience outside or in-as the walls/doors are glass.
American food with a bar. Food was pretty good. We tried the combo with friend shrimp, fried fish fillets and French fries (yummy!), pecan-crusted tilapia (not as much flavor as I like but my husband loved it) and the crab and cheese pizza (really surprised me-I loved it.)
Our server the first night, Lizzie, was wonderful. Beautiful, sweet girl who took very good care of us even though the place was packed. The second time we came I wish we had her again. Our server just didn't have the hospitality I feel servers should have. But it didn't take away from our experience.
Definitely come here once in Rehoboth to enjoy the good food and great view!
