Ok, so a Ravens fan walks onto a bar.....I was referred here by my neighbor and Gus' did not disappoint . I started by asking which tv was showing the Ravens game. Minutes later, the dashing Tad, pointed to the one above my barstool and said, "that one". I was sold. then Beverly, bartender especial didn't snicker at my request of an ice pick with raspberry vodka, served it with a smile and introduced herself. Minutes later I had a Browns fan on one side and another Ravens fan on the other.
this became our part of the bar. All food coming out looked great, but I wasn't ready to commit yet. browns fan left and a Teddy Bear of a Ravens fan rolled into is spot. game on. Ordered my usual blue burger mid rare, mayo on side, no bun. All came as requested
Now Beverly shared bar duties with a skewed hat guy who didn't bother to introduce self  and while he managed to get me a drink or two, he was a little preoccupied with his phone to get me my tab to close out. Fortunately the lovely Beverly was on it and I monster tipped her in cash for her trouble.  Askewed cap guy, I am sorry your team lost, but mine won and I was ready to buy shots. Maybe next time.....All things considered, Team Gus' and Team Beverly!
Food fabulous,Service the BEST&cold A/C.(ice cold beverages too).  Gus' made redskins camp that much better!  My brother and Nephew traveled from Raleigh NC to visit RVA and the Redskins camp.  My brother is a major sports fan, much of his vacation time revolves around visiting new cities centered around a big game or sporting event.  With this in mind, he knows and  enjoys sports bar's. He and I both agree, Gus' is top notch, very friendly and hospitable.
Best Sports Bar in RVA, Hands Down...
Enough can't be said about this place! The food was delicious! We ordered the hummus plate which was homemade and amazing! We also got an order of wings which were just as good! They were larger than normal wings, crispy, and saucy! Our server Erin was so friendly and knowledgeable about everything and very laid back and easy to talk to! The owner was just as nice and talked to us and was just as hang loose and so friendly! We will definitely return to this establishment and send everyone we know! Any negative reviews on this place are just silly! I couldn't have asked for nicer people to hang out with! Thank you guys for a wonderful time!
Review Source:Best wings in Richmond. I know this to be factct, why?, because when it comes to wings,....i'm deadly serious. This place is incredibly underrated. Great beer selection along with excellent service. I've had wings at BW3, Baileys, Mojos, Quaker, Wing Zone, you name it. None come close to Gus's. They are always very consistent. They are not those rinky dink small wings. These are big, tossed in excellent sauces (hot and teriyaki are my favorite), and best of all......crispy. Deliciousness. Pure scrumptiousness.
Review Source:I went to Gus' Bar and Grill for a VCU alumni basketball watch party (VCU vs. Temple). Gus' has a lot of televisions throughout the sports bar. There's one big projector screen and a lot of flat screen televisions. Â Gus' Bar and Grill doesn't have many booths (the booths are equipped with personal televisions). If you want a booth, its best to come early. The sports bar is not very bright (dim inside).I was hungry so I ordered teriyaki boneless wings. The boneless wings were average at best. The wings came with celery and a side of dressing (bleu cheese or ranch). I sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and friendly. Gus' Bar and Grill is located on Broad Street, so the parking is hit or miss. Gus' Bar and Grill is a solid choice for watching sports games.I give Gus' Bar and Grill a 2.5 rating rounded up to a 3 "A-Ok".
Review Source:Can even believe I'm taking the 5 minutes to write a review about this dump. The only perks are that they have so many TVs for watching football and Amstel Light on draft. Oh, and one of their bartenders was super nice and funny. Unfortunately, the rest of their service is sub-par. I still don't understand why sports bar is synonymous with bad...no wait, horrifying service. Yeah, some people who watch sports are obnoxious. But some people who don't are obnoxious too. Hey waitress, remember how you're gonna make my entire paycheck just during the 1 o'clock games. Can I get a smile? Remember how you're the one who applied to work at a SPORTS BAR. Lose the 'tude and maybe I'll consider transferring my tab from the bar. The next time you wanna talk crap about your table, in front of your table, think twice about the fact they might all be in the restaurant industry as well and have no problem punishing your sorry ass.
Oh, and the owner or the manager or whoever that douche lord with that cool STAFF shirt is, needs to get a haircut and get a life. Bullying customers because some silly ass Cowboys fan got butt hurt over a loss, REAL COOL. Girls who wanna talk crap need to learn to fight their own battles if they wanna get buck in a bar.
I have frequented this sports bar on quite a few occasions. This place is very dark and dingy looking. The menu is limited as for American cuisine as it is mostly Greek food. Funny but I thought a sports bar called Gus' Bar & Grill would have more American fare. No club sandwich, no fish sandwich, and very limited American cuisine.
I had problems with one waitress and I think her name is Erica. I sat at the only table that was available at the time. When she came to nt table she immediately inquired about what I wanted to drink. I asked her if she could clean off the table first. She raised her voice and said "I am getting to that!"
Are you kidding me? The table had dried up sauce on it. Common sense dictates that you clean off the table first before inquiring about food or drink.
Erica even tried to charge me for mayonnaisse. That is ridiculous. I had eaten there before and no one ever tried to pull some nonsense like that on me. What type of dirty shiggity is that?
When sporting events end late at night they crank up loud, annoying, and obnoxious hip hop.music. Once again, I thought this was a sports bar and not a hip hop club.
On a positive note, the burgers are huge and tasty and some of the booths have a tv equipped with Directv service so you can watch virtually any sporting event on tv.
Great sports bar! There are tons of TVs, including booths with individual TVs, so you can watch just about anything. The food is really good (especially for a sports bar), and there's tons of room.
I particularly like Monday nights, because there's a local trivia game. It's free to play, and if you win, you get a discount on dinner! Always fun!
Avoid this place. Service was fine until I informed the waitress I were shorted in a hot wing order. I was confronted by a very boorish, unprofessional and defensive Manager, who called me liar, and accused me of trying to cheat the establishment of $0.50, (despite the fact I already paid the bill) consequently costing a very deserving waitress a 20% tip, as I abruptly left. Go to nearby Mulligan's Sports Bar or Home Team Grill instead. They are much better establishments.
Review Source:We were visiting my brother-in-law in Richmond and had our infant son in tow. Â Gus's is my brother-in-law's bar of choice and he suggested coming here because it would be loud and if the baby fussed, we wouldn't be noticed too much. This place definitely looked like a dive from the outside. Â In fact, we left and came back after my son was too loud at a Greek restaurant! Â
So, the decor was not striking and it was quite dark inside. But the food was a pleasant surprise!! Â I had the Hokey sandwich, which had turkey, muenster cheese, and avocado, on marble rye. Â This was one hell of a good sandwich! Â Also, I really am not crazy about mayo, but their potato salad with redskins was amazing. Â Order this! Â
The waitress was very friendly and sweet to our son. Â Yeah, I know we brought our kid to a bar, but they had high chairs and he won't be able to to remember anyway. Â The televisions at each table made for a nice experience because the baby was captivated by it and didn't fuss very much. Â
Oh yeah, I would go back!
One of the best sports bars in Richmond. The best sports bar for watching sports like soccer, rugby, and other international sports. Has every game on TV (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA, etc). I go down there and watch sports when the game is blacked out in our area.
The food is fantastic for a sports bar. I love the hummus, fried raviolis, wings, and subs. They have steak, spaghetti, kabobs, and 7 different pizzas. With 12 different beers on tap and over 20 others in bottles.
I met the three owners while I was there and are nice family ordinated people.
I highly recommend.
This is not your typical sports bar, while it has the same sports bar dishes you expect, they are by far some of the best in Richmond. They get their bread from Amoroso's in Philly and it makes a HUGE difference. Almost everything on the menu is made fresh by the Greek owner.
All of the subs are great, my favorite is the Gus' Sub with fries (their fries are always hot and crispy) and they have a great hand breaded buffalo chicken sandwich. Also they usually have some sort of special every day. They have a nice selection of beers, a few specialty on tap including Star Hill, Legend, and an IPA...but most of the common beer styles are available in bottle. The staff is great, very friendly, and the regulars are quite fun.
I'm not much into sports, but they have a bajillion TVs and they have no problem tuning them to whichever game you want (including soccer).
Overall this is a great spot, it's right behind my house so I go there quite a bit and I have never been disappointed.
