I went here on a business lunch and the place is spacious. There were a good selection of beers on tap and the service was nice. The food was good but wasn't anything out of this world. It was just as I would expect based on the name. There are good sandwiches and some of the meals I've seen were typical. Nothing bad, but nothing that blew me out of my seat. They have outdoor seating, which is nice on summer evenings. But what's up with the dollar up-charge for french fries instead of chips?
Review Source:Stopped in here last Friday night and was surprised to see plenty of open tables. Â I figured out group of 4 might have to wait.
There was a beer on the beer menu that looked unusual and when I asked our server she couldn't describe it. Â She even called over another coworker and he could only say that it was unlike any other beer. Â Perplexed, I gave it a try. Â It was a wheat beer/hefe with a little extra hop kick. Â It really wasn't that hard to describe.
We started with some chips because we were starving. Â Chips were good and we devoured them.
I got the Cowboy Burger. Â This one seemed great in concept but was lacking in execution. Â The onion straws were very crispy and were a tough thing to eat. Â The chipotle ranch had a good kick too it. Â The blue cheese just didn't work for me. Â It was an odd flavor amongst everything else. Â My buddies had the Hall of Fame burger and said it was great. Â I wish I had gotten that.
Overall, Â an "A-OK" experience. Â I'm always looking for new places in Richmond so it might be a while before I get back to Home Team Grill.
Randomly decided to stop here with a friend while walking to Cary Town. Â
ATMOSPHERE: Â Fun and sporty place. Â I love that they open up the entire front of the restaurant (a common theme in Richmond). Â A lot of seating and a lot of TVs.
SERVICE: Â We sat at the bar and the bar tenders were really nice.
DRINKS: Â Got vodka sodas - REALLY strong but that's exactly the way I need it.
FOOD: Â I wasn't that hungry but my friend wanted to get a hummus plate. Â It was a huge plate filled with lots of veggies and pita with a huge dollop of hummus. Â The hummus was average and everything else was whatever. Â It's like they just threw stuff on a plate without any thought or effort. Â
I'd recommend coming for cheap drinks...don't expect great food though.
