No. Just no. I wouldn't give them a star if I didn't have to. I ordered a large chicken fried rice, ONE piece of chicken in the entire container and it's dark meat. Never again.

Gwon Lee is another treasure of the Southeast Side, located just east of 87th Street and Stony Island Avenue.

By now, we know that all Chinese is not the same -- and you and your stomach can distinguish that right away. I've eaten "five star restaurant" Chinese food and in takeout joints all over the world.

Dish for dish, Gwon Lee is still the best Chinese I've ever eaten in my life. My family has been eating at this establishment, literally, for more than 30 years and it's as good now as when I was a child.

This is traditional Chinese takeout at its finest. Fried rice browned to perfection and made with the freshest ingredients. Appetizers that are always good -- tender spareribs, crispy wontons, eggrolls and fried shrimp.

After all these years I've tried everything on the menu and, truly, everything is good. But one of my favorites is this incredible fresh shrimp and egg with snap peas dish. To die for!

Gwon Lee is old-school. Family owned, very small waiting area, cash only and they don't deliver. Incredibly reasonably priced. Best to call your order in ahead of time. If you live in the Calumet Heights/Burnside/South Chicago area, Gwon Lee is not to be missed, and for those who live outside of the community, it's worth the trip.
