My wife and I slipped into this small joint in Bloomington on a recommendation. There was a line of about 12 people at the ordering counter, so we knew we had a winner.Winner.Chicken dinner.
I found a table while my wife ordered a spicy gyro combo for me with a small Greek salad and a soda. She got a side of pitas and lentil soup.
The pita was perfect size and had lots of gyro meat and a wonderfully spicy sauce with lots of tomatoes and onions and was just perfect! Â The spiciness was just enough to say "Hello!, guess what, I am spicy!" The gyro meat was flavorful lamb and pork mixed together.
My wife had a fat free cucumber sauce to dip he pita bread into, it was super wonderful. I tried a bite of the lentil soup and it was full of beans and you could tell it was home made. There was even a bay leaf in there to pick out.
The whole bill was $12 too, nice!
I would be surprised if they don't open more locations of this place, super busy for a reason. It was AWESOME!
On the advice of Yelp, I showed up for the best gyro in the Twin Cities. Â I found it! Â Fresh veggies, tender and juicy gyro meat. Â And the spicy tzatziki? Â They're not kidding. Â This isn't Minnesota spicy, this is for real spicy. Â I went through three napkins, two were used solely to wipe my running nose. Â I loved it. Â The space is super clean, and the line is laid out efficiently. Â The pita bread was cooked to perfection, and the sandwich was big enough to feed two.
I snagged a piece of baklava for later and nibbled on it later that night. Â Sadly, that was the only disappointment. Â It was cooked perfect, and not too gooey, but I think the nuts in that batch were rancid, because the taste was off. Â If nuts are chopped too far in advance of cooking, this is a common result. Â I'd give it another try since other reviewers enjoyed it. Â Probably just an off day for that one dish. Â Can't wait to try the fries next time, when I do, I'll bring a friend because I can't imagine eating that much food by myself.
