Went here w/ a Groupon deal ($3.00 for falafel sandwich). Â This sandwhich is easy to perfect, but anyways..here it goes -
- Â Walked in. Â Place looks extremely dirty. Â Kitchen area is sorta clean, but i saw chicken just sitting there on the grill...weird.
- Â Dude did not even ask me if I wanted to get my pita warm
- Â Falafel is super non-firm and tastes old
- Â Sauce w/ it is tasteless
Also, when I asked for hot sauce on it...he gave me a dumb look. Â He didnt ask me if I wanted anything else in the sandwich.
Needless to say...lame place and would never go here.
Nabbed a living social deal and decided to take a long walk to check this place out.
Ordered a steak skewer in advance, and arrived ten minutes early to find that the steak hadn't been grilled yet, as he wanted it to be as fresh as possible. Â Waited around until 12:15 before receiving my meal to go (long wait) while receiving updates every 5 minutes or so from the owner. Â Here's the results:
Steak - even after sitting on the grill that long, surprisingly super tender! Â Very beefy, and actually quite good.
Baba Ghanoush - nice flavor, not overly strong, and a tasty side to the well seasoned steak.
Jerusalem Salad - Refreshing and tasty. Â Tastes like it was freshly made that day.
Falafel - this was actually quite a surprise... crisp on the outside, airy and flavorful on the inside. Â Excellent falafel!
Verdict: Â For a restaurant that looks rundown and down trodden, don't be fooled... the food is good, and the price is reasonable! Â I'd come back if I was in the area, just not for a business meal with any important clients...
Near my office, but never been there before. Â Thought I'd give it a try today; had a taste for babaganouj. Â Pretty dingy inside. Ordered the vegetarian combo to go. Â Didn't take too long for the guy to assemble the order, but the cashier was inattentive. Â She started to take the money from the next customer after I asked for a bag. Â Took her way too long to get the bag, and by then she's helping the third customer, wraps by styrofoam box HALF in plastic wrap and sort of haphazardly places box into bag. When I pick it up, the juices from the jerusalem salad leak out. Â Soda machine is half not working...no diet. Â The barely legible sign says they have cans of diet, but I'm in a rush and so take unsweetened iced tea rather than dealing with the cashier again. Â Get back to my office. Â Jerusalem salad juices all over inside the bag. Soggy napkins. Â One HALF piece of pita bread...simply not enough for the hummus and babaganouj, let alone the falafel. Â Everything tastes really good, though. Â Hummus is a little bland. Price: almost $9. Â Will I go back? Â Maybe, if I am not in a rush and can convince them to include two pieces of pita. After all, one doesn't usually eat hummus or babaganouj with a plastic spoon, does one?
