Les Nomades

Fantastic food, atmosphere and the view. Oh, the view, call for a reservation, ask for a table by the window.  Great menu, fantastic wine list. A true must for Chicago.

Went here for an anniversary while I was still relatively young. My girlfriend and I came  both dressed up to max for this event and we were treated like gold. While our table was being prepared we had a few pre-dinner cocktails downstairs which were absolutely phenomenal, and after were seated upstairs in the greatest atmosphere and best table I could ask for. Most of the people around us were discussing whether or not they should get the 3,000 dollar bottle of this or that. I settled on a bottle for around $150 which didn't seem to dissuade the wait staff. The sommelier was top notch and led us to a great selection for their prix fixe menu. The truffle foam cauliflower soup was perfect, as were the cheeses, meats, and every single other item we received. It has been a while so I cannot remember everything we had but the standout was the grand marnier soufle' which was full of the best flavor I have ever had. Everything about this place reminded me of  the great experiences my parents afforded me while I was young. The fact that we were the youngest people there ( age 22, many years ago) changed nothing. We were viewed among clientele and staff as equals, which I appreciated greatly since fine dining is one of my favorite fortes. Most likely the best $500 dollars I have ever spent, rivaling that of some of the greatest places I have been to in Vegas, LA, NYC , and beyond. Will always remember this night fondly.

went for dinner on a wed night at 8:30pm during a snow storm, so it was not too busy.

the building in which les nomades is housed is a nice quaint little space when surrounding it on all sides are huge hotels and hospitals and all sorts.

staff was super friendly and the service 5 star.

the food was above average but in reality nothing that wowed neither me nor my wife.

for example, the duck consomme was nothing special. my lamb and veal dish was very good. the short ribs were tender but still a bit tough.

it was also quite expensive, and i might rather spend my hard-earned money at some place more modern such as avec or moto
