The Glunz Tavern

When you step through the door of Glunz Tavern you are immediately propelled back in time. The 100 year old establishment appears to be unchanged since it's pre-prohibition days with it's tin ceiling, back bar, fixtures and artifacts.  Yet it is in perfectly preserved condition.  I had dinner and dessert at the bar and talked to the other patrons and Carl the bartender. Carl shared the rich history of the place.  Everyone there is friendly and accommodating.  The food and service are outstanding.  The food is not bar food but on par with other excellent Chicago restaurants.  The experience is totally enjoyable.  Unfortunately I eventually had to leave and return to 2013.  I will be back soon.

I live about a block away and have been here twice. Food is excellent, nice atmosphere and slower service. Wiener schnitzel and the hamburger are outstanding!

Incredible makeover from former rustic liquor store.  Cozy tavern, the bartenders understand how to make a drink, and the few small plates that we tried were great (the cheese selections were fantastic).
