When you step through the door of Glunz Tavern you are immediately propelled back in time. The 100 year old establishment appears to be unchanged since it's pre-prohibition days with it's tin ceiling, back bar, fixtures and artifacts. Â Yet it is in perfectly preserved condition. Â I had dinner and dessert at the bar and talked to the other patrons and Carl the bartender. Carl shared the rich history of the place. Â Everyone there is friendly and accommodating. Â The food and service are outstanding. Â The food is not bar food but on par with other excellent Chicago restaurants. Â The experience is totally enjoyable. Â Unfortunately I eventually had to leave and return to 2013. Â I will be back soon.
