Despite being rather small, Harvelle's is a very cozy and attractive place. It is fully packed most if the times but it is no wonder as the jazz/reggae music that live bands(House of Vibe/All Stars) Â play on Wednesday is really amazing! The music is energetic and has a unique vibe.
One of the best places to be at on Wednesday/Saturday and Sunday.

Awesome place for fun! It's a bit small and can get very busy and packed at times. But this is a great gem to discover in the area. This is now on my top list to visit when I want to enjoy non-stop live music in Santa Monica.
Everything about this place is incredible. Live music really sounds great. Looks like the bands playing in this place are really meant to play that mind blowing music. (House of Vibe indeed!) Nice, efficient and wonderful staff. The drinks are also excellent.
The crowd is very energetic and cool, and seems to be enjoying every moment in the place. I would say the best nights would be Thursday or Sunday.
Be prepared to wait in line if you get there late!
How to describe last night (Sunday with Taledo)?
Your breath will be swept from your chest and thrown into a room with billowing smoke and clouded silhouettes... And you will bask in it. Each moment progressing as shifting sands impressing awe upon you until you see the picture as a whole and the dune's serendipity. Honestly, I find it difficult to explain the joy that last night brought to me. I'm laughing while writing this review and found it difficult to sleep when getting home at 3.
Now, apparently, it pays to get there early... Also, apparently, getting there on time is getting there early. My friend said it started at 8; I took us there a little after 8; we got front seats. The place will get packed though, so if you have shoes that you don't want people stepping on, this isn't the place to wear them.
The sound. Think of every great blues and jazz musician you can think of. Now, put all those guys in a small cardboard box. Now, set that box on fire. Then, have that fire not burn and have all those musicians say... screw it, let's play to it. That's what it sounds like (also, I have never seen a better live drummer).
The show... I don't really know how to put it... I want to say I left feeling like a pillow at a co-ed slumber party... but I don't know how much sense that'll make to most people. However, it's the best I've got. So there it is.
Check out the place, it'll be worth your time. And you'll leave feeling like the press that pressed the million bucks and had a few more on the way, not just a suitcase of notes.
