The noises caused by wind are distracting and wake one up in the middle of the night. It is clean and the staff is helpful.

Okay CS people working there, but it doesn't overcome how worn-out and bad this hotel is - from what I understand it's built in the 70's and it shows it. At night the whole place creaks like an old ship rocking in the oceans - it really does and the walls are paper thin, you hear everything. Plus the gym is bad, all four treadmills whine really loud too - everything about this place is old.

Next time I will just stay at the Hilton Garden Inn instead.

this is a full service hotel. i would have liked it a lot better if stupid teen youth ministry kids wouldn't have kept me up half the night slamming doors. it would have been a 3 or 4 star experience if it was not for the kids.

upon check in they insisted i booked smoking. i told them no and they fixed it.

they have a range of restaurant choices. Bennigian's- sports bar cheap, Pinnacle club-- night club full bar, and a place called Nick and Nico's--high end steakhouse. A Starbucks in the lobby, would have be convenient if the snot nose kids did not fill it up.

The pool area was nice. It had 2 small wicker tables with 4 wicker chairs at each table. then 5 comfy cabana type chairs with a giant ottomon. i did pull the ottomon up and ended up falling asleep. again the stupid kids kept opening the door like they had know idea there was a pool behind that giant glass wall.

The bathroom door was a sliding door. it was ok but a bit odd. overall, i liked the room and services provided. the stupid unruly teenagers ruined it for me. I don't know why if they know you are part of a group they don't put  everyone on the same floors.

Just awful. I travel a lot, usually 3-5 day per week. I book and stay in a lot of hotels.
I recently had a rough travel day with flight delays and closed rental car stations. Finally ended up for my night at the Springfield Hilton. I recall the customer in front of me being offered ear plugs, which sounded odd.

When they finally got to me for check, they claimed I had 3 reservations, I explained I only booked one. They said I would have to see a special manager the next day to get a credit. She sure was special. She told me unless I could show two cancellation emails for the other two rooms, I would have to pay. I explained I did not have three confirmations or reservations and showed her that in the Hilton App!

She still refused to fix the problem. I tried to explain the concept of customer service, which she replied was not her concern. I tried to explain we just spent over $2000 renting a conference room with food, which we do 2-4 times per month (many at Hiltons) and to please fix this simple problem. She refused.

I also explained I can not process this as a travel expense and she said she could not help me without cancellation notices for the other two rooms.

I have been a Hilton fan and customer for many years. So i tried working with the national customer service department, so far not luck in getting my money back.

We will not be booking and more conferences at any Hilton Brand in the future. I called and Marriott and explained what happened with Hilton and guaranteed it could not happen with them. The Marriott seemed more then happy to get our business.

As for the ear plugs? This oddly shaped hotel has a quite a bit of sway in the wind, generating lot of in room noise, from the windows frames rubbing to everything on a table or dresser shaking through the night. I should have taken the ear plugs. At least the mold in the shower was quiet.

Friendly staff, terrible manager, Awful Hotel.

I would rather sleep in a chair at the airport.

Older hotel that has been updated where it can be. Circular building results in pie slice shaped rooms leading to rather small bathrooms. Also the handicap handle in the shower is rather obtrusive. No fridge in the "standard" room. Great views from the room I had, could see the Capitol building. Location is also good, walking distance from all the downtown action.

We stayed here this past Sunday and I must say the girl at the front desk was great!! It took no longer then 2 minutes to check in and she also was very informative about the parking which was very helpful seeing that there isn't any type of store within walking distance open at 3:30 in the afternoon on Sunday. So the $8.00 fee for in and out parking was not a bad deal. The Bennigans inside the hotel wasn't the greatest, high prices for a small menu and the service was not that great. I had to ask the waiter several times for cream for my coffee and by the time I actually got it, my coffee was cold. The room wasn't bad. The beds were comfortable but the bathroom was really small and had no fan in it. As far as the breakfast buffet, go to Starbucks and get a sandwich!! They were charging $11.00 for a mediocre at best buffet. They had 2 types of scrambled eggs with God only knows what in them. The sausage was hard to bite into and not cooked all the way through and the bacon was way over done. I ended up just having toast and luckily didn't have to pay for it! Another place stingy with the coffee cream as well! For the most part the place was clean and the staff friendly so no complaints there.

Everything was neat and clean.  Very nice room--quiet, comfortable, and excellent pool.   Great location.  Bellman gave good advice on restaurants.  I read some comments about internet being slow.  this is not so.  I had full five bar reception at all times and internet response time was quite fast.  This  has been my experience at all Hiltons and Hamptons.  Staff was friendly and helpful.  I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Springfield.

The Hilton is in a great central location if you are doing business in downtown Springfield.  It has a funky, circular design that is dated, but the rooms appear to have been updated and were clean.  The service is very good and the staff is friendly.  You have to pay for parking which should be expected in a downtown hotel.

Excellent service. Large, cozy rooms. Rising 30 stories, it is by far the tallest building around, offering great views of the Capitol city. Great breakfast. Starbucks in the lobby.  Just a couple of blocks from the Capitol and lincoln's presidential library.

The Hilton is actually a physical landmark in Springfield as it is the tallest building in Springfield so no matter where you are you can almost always see it and therefore know where downtown and the capital is.  I have been here many times over the years, but not in the past 4 or 5 years.  I was very pleased to see that they had updated the lobby and meeting areas so in all, the place is pretty good.

If you absolutely have to stay in Springfield this is defiantly the "ONLY" hotel worth making your trip pleasant.  Due to it's massive size it makes this place easy to find when stumbling around town.  It also gives you a good idea when you may be too far.  If you cannot see the Hilton you are not in a good area of Springfield is my rule.

Just a few tips for the hotel.  Rooms were very nice, however they never came to clean our room the first night we stayed.  I had to call the front desk at 5:00pm to have someone come clean and bring fresh towels.

And lastly the Bennigans Restaurant attached was a HUGE disappointment.  How on Earth do you mess French Onion Soup, mine was unbearably Salty and this is coming from a person who usually cannot get enough salt.  The drinks were weak as well.  After 5 double Whiskey Gingers I should be on my way to bed.  This was not the case.  I should have been watching the bartender make the drink instead of having the waitress bring them to me.

So if you're coming to Springfield, stay here just don't eat or drink here!

I had the oppurtunity to stay and the Hilton Springfield for business and I have to say, this is a hotel with 2 personalities. First based off of what I had read on the Hilton website, I was exctited as it showed that the hotel had an executive floor. As a Gold Member of Hilton Honors, this what really makes my day. Needless to say this turned out to be a disappointment. As I was riding in the hotel shuttle I enquired with one of the driver about this feature and he said that even though the hotel has one, it is not used. The hotel simply keeps it "to look good for inspections." The hotel itself can not be missed as it is the tallest building in town. I myself was up above floor 20 with a nice view of Springfield.

The check in process was pleasant except for the fact my room was not ready even though I checked in around 4:15 pm that afternoon. Staff was gracious and helped me with everything that I needed.

Rooms were a little different from the usual fare due to the shape of the building, but they were nice none the less. I would stay here again in a heart beat. Oh and by the way it has a Benigans! It is like one of the 3 left on this planet.

I stayed here on my first trip to the state capital in the dead of winter.  Springfield has a small town feel and this Hilton stands over the other buildings downtown, making it easy to see at night.  The room was OK but showing its age.  If you arrive after 8, plan on eating in the hotel restaurant because downtown pretty much closes up after dark.  I would stay here again, partly because it's OK but also because I did not see any alternatives.

I stayed here for an educators conference and had a great experience. I thought the staff was very nice and accommodating. The facilities were  fine for a conference center hotel. I felt things were nicely updated. I ordered room service and they were very quick and friendly as well. I definitely felt they were there to serve their guests which was nice.

I am a diamond member with Hilton and travel a lot for business.  My room is fine but if you are like me stay away from this hotel if you need Internet access. My connection was either super slow or no connection at all.

I called the front desk for help and was told they could not do any thing for me. They understood the connection was slow but management did not want to upgrade it.

They said the speed was better in the lobby so I tried that but it was worse.

Last time I ever stay at this hotel. People at the front desk were rude and the Internet connection sucked.

I stayed here 2 nights, for a conference. I was in room 411.

I am a bit cranky right now because I could barely sleep last night-- I never identified what was causing the noise although I did listen for a long time and try to figure out how to best describe it . . . like shutters flapping and creaking and metal poles hanging in the wind on lines and hitting the building, all at the same time.
Friday morning I attended a workshop on the 29th floor-- it should have been beautiful but it was ruined by ridiculous construction noise that seemed to be on the same floor-- constant banging and pneumatic drilling-- it was like the whole place was vibrating at a low but loud pitch.
Thursday night there was a concert directly across the street in a poorly placed event center- "tobymac" and "skillet?"-- took me a while to figure out what was causing the noise but until I realized what it was it was like having a car with an 18" sub sitting outside your window.

As to the basics:  The room was supposedly no smoking but the bathroom completely stunk as if someone had chain-smoked in it for years.
I slipped on a puddle on the floor after a bath, and had done absolutely nothing to get water on the floor, leading me to believe there's a leak in the bathtub somewhere. The bathroom was very cramped, such that you had to sit a little sideways to get your business done. The ironing board had what appeared to be blood stains on it. The walls were paper thin such that people talking next door drowned out the TV if you had it at a "normal" volume. Your whole room shook when your neighbors closed their door.  You could hear everything happening in the next bathroom . . . everything.  By Friday lunch people had piled larger garbage (food/pizza box type stuff) on and around the receptacles in the elevator lobby-- it was all still there, untouched on Saturday.
The TV controls were configured such that every time you wanted to change the channel via the directory you had to load the paid selections first  (?15 seconds)-- prohibitive PITA.
The internet was reasonably functional at times but slowed to a crawl for good parts of the day, presumably when most people were using-- worst from about 7 PM to midnight.  Several times it went down completely- once I stalled in the middle of sending a message and had no connectivity for about 20 minutes, and I called the desk-- after another 10 it was up again. Don't expect to get any work done here that depends on internet access.

The last oddity-- on the morning of the second day I found a receipt left in front of my door-- no envelope, personal info (name/complete address) printed on it. A bunch of other doors had the same.
Let's make things as easy as possible for stalkers?

Good to be home, that's about all there's left to say.

For $50 a night I'd probably have just taken all of the above in stride, but for $100 a night it was a poor experience and I won't be staying here again.

My experience at the Hilton Springfield Hotel was nothing short of horrible.

First let's talk about my check-in experience. It was a busy day, but waiting 2o minutes seemed a little long. I am not sure why it was taking so long, but I can tell you, there were a lot of people in the line besides me who were not very happy. My room was fine, except the internet didn't work and the noise level from a wedding party group seemed to go on until late that night. My call to the front desk didn't seem to have any effect or find me a fix for the internet. When I woke up the next morning, I found that there was absolutely zero hot water. I called the front desk and the phone was not being picked up. I was scheduled to tape a TV interview in exactly one hour; I was forced to check out without taking a shower. When I checked out, I mentioned my concern, and expressed my frustration about the lack of hot water and the fact that nobody picked up the phone at the front desk. The very nice lady said ok, yea, we don't have any hot water this morning, sorry, well, here is your receipt, have a good day.

I keep getting the feeling that customer service has become something you need to pay extra for, like pillows on airlines... I guess this is what happens when a hotel name breaks off into franchises... come to think of it, Motel 6 is a franchise, at least they leave the lights on for you.

Had a great night's sleep here. While not brand new, this hotel is quite pleasant.

Ok hotel was comfortable but I did not have the best night possible for two reasons.

    1. Their was a VFW meetup with about 200-300 vets (not that I have any problem with vets but they go to bed early and wake up wayyyyyy too early for me!)

    2. Internet was the worst I've seen in any name brand hotel.

As Hilton Hotels go in general, and as Springfield hotels go specifically, this is a solid 3-star location.

That it's located downtown doesn't mean a hell of a lot in Springfield. The restaurants near it are positively mediocre, there's little accessible public transportation, you still have to drive everywhere and it's deserted after 10 p.m.

The upside is that it's reasonably priced and it's so tall and ugly that whenever I'm driving around lost in Springfield I can always find my way back to it, as it can't be missed from any angle in town.

The rooms are perfectly comfortable and there's been some modernization effort. I love the flat screens and pillowtop mattresses in the king rooms, and absolutely love that they serve Lavazza coffee in the in-room coffee makers!

There's also free wi-fi, which you'd think would be a plus, but it is slow as Forrest Gump...you're better off using your own smart phone for Internet connection.

In my experience, the regular rooms are nicer than the suites. The suites/apartments are older with incredibly provencial furniture, older fixtures and TVs -- and the room I stayed in had no hangers in the closet. Hmm...  It's also worth it to get on a higher floor to cut down on noise. Although I requested a high floor in accordance with my previous stays, I was put on a low floor during my most recent visit on Cinco de Mayo -- and suffice it to say, it was fairly noisy and far too much elevator activity.

But for the price, location, generally comfy rooms and friendly service, I'd recommend it.

This has to be one of the ugliest buildings I have ever seen. It looks like an airport flight tower. At least we didn't have a problem locating it on our wanders in Springfield.  We laughed like 12 year olds every time we saw 'our hotel' and remembered Robin W.'s 'Prick of the Prairie' comment.

That said, the staff was okay. This is a small city and consequently, not sophisticated. We did have to beg for any information such as directions and recommendations but I think that was simply the result of the staff's usual dealing with business travelers and politicians. A 'thank you' did seem to warm them up.

I'm still surprised that they get $139 a night in December. Location, location, location is the only thing I can figure. In and out self parking is $8 a day - worth it!

The rooms are nothing short of odd. The tower is roundish and the rooms are pieshapedish. Don't expect much of the very small, not well appointed bathrooms. The beds are comfortable. Due to the strange shape of the rooms, there is a lot of wasted space. Then again, what do I really need with hotel room space?

The breakfast is buffet in the Highland Room was claustrophobic. It is tucked away downstairs. There is a nice selection of buffet items; bacon, eggs, fruit, cereal... with interesting additions of lox and cheeses. $13.47 (such a strange amount) is an okay price to pay and the staff is cheerful.

For $209 nightly, you get a super slow wireless Internet connection that costs an additional $9.95 daily, the water pressure in the shower sucks, the pipes sing, the shower towels are small, and the only restaurant is Bennigan's.

At least the Globe Tavern at the Abe Lincoln Hotel, which was sold out this trip, is across the street.

This hotel is the epitome of A-Ok. It is totally mediocre.

Check in: Rude, Rude, Rude! I couldn't believe how nasty my clerk was. She left me standing for 10 minutes while she chatting on the phone without so much as a "I'm sorry, I'll just be a minute." She had a bad attitude the entire time took FOREVER.

Room: Sooo odd. It has no right angles. However, the beds were very comfortable. They must have bought the cheapest, smallest flat screen TVs I have ever seen though.

Also, my shower was clogged up when I arrived -- GROSS.

    On the whole, its mediocre.

$5.50 parking in the nearby garage or free street parking.  I had a bit of an SF moment searching for parking as there were two weddings going on in the hotel & ended up paying-- don't know why I balked at first, it's not expensive.

    Check-in was curt but efficient..

Free breakfast vouchers for the Manhattan Grille Room with stay.

1 Nonsmoking King (the bed, not the tennant) for $119.  No AAA discount though, wtf?
