BEWARE this is WORST HOTEL in the Chicago MIDWAY area.

    Story :
I reserved the hotel room two weeks ahead and already paid for it, and when I arrive there to check in, they suddenly cancel the reservation, saying the hotel suddenly fully booked.
They didn't even NOTIFY me ahead of time.. I was really tired, and all that day. was very dissapointed in how Hilton Midway works! In addition, They didn't actually refund the money until I ask them too refund me, it takes two weeks to get the refund process started.

for other people. BEWARE of this hotel in MIDWAY area. choose other Hotel like Marriot in Chicago MIdway, closer to the airport and nicer.

This hotel is really named "The Hotel of Oak Lawn" and pays to use the Hilton brand. I have been a guest as well as a worker here years ago.

A little back ground I was hired in my department because my Supervisor was leaving on vacation and neither he nor the rest of the department spoke English except two part time guys who were leaving.  Needless to say I started the day after he went on vacation and was trained by a staff who does not speak English.

The backrooms are dirty and full of flies those water cuts that bring in for the events were they put the fruit man...all those flies in the back hall....small portions of food. Needless to say I quit and left this place off my resume years ago.

As a customer I came back because my wife wanted to have a stay near our area. I prefer hotels downtown and I knew I would not get our bang for our buck here but the front lobby was changed over. They finally upgraded and I was told the top area was converted into a private diner. I got the full package and paid more for a room here then what I could get for a suite downtown.

The Private Area sucks....the free food is crackers and cheese and worse yet the drinks are the stuff they give to you on planes.

The hotel room was small and outdated. Worse yet the food was exactly the way I remembered it, small. A large Pizza at the Hilton (Real Name: Hotel of Oak Lawn) is like a small Home Run Inn without the quality taste. Then as we try to explain to Room Service that we do not want this he stands there and eventually goes back downstairs ten minutes later and left the food because he does not understand English.

This place hires people who do not know how to speak any English and I know for a fact people who are not here legally.

This place is just a horrible knock off of the Hilton brand that pays to use the name. So please remember the hotel you are staying in is just a Hotel that pays to use the name Hilton.  For the price they ask for I'll tell you this....it's not worth it.

This is, by far the worst hotel I've ever been to.
    We stayed here 7/19/12 weekend
A little background: There at least 15 people from our family reunion staying here. We came a day early from the reunion party so we had to make 2 different reservations. When we arrived we made sure they knew about both of the reservations so we didn't have to change rooms. We are staying with a four month old.

Night 1/5: The first room was clean on the surface. The linens were clean, the room smelled nice, but the longer the you stay the more you notice. The door slammed very loudly, which was only bad because we have a baby. That night we found one ant, no problem... Until the next night.

Night 2/5: We realize that the hotel room has NO ventilation. No opening windows or vent fans. I'm pretty sure the AC even recirculates. Made me feel claustrophobic. Then I realize the bathroom ceilings are covered in painted over mold bubbles. When I began to shower the mold smell became very loud. Which was worsened by the lack of ventilation.

Just after my shower, while I'm in my underwear the maid opens the door and comes in without knocking. She apologized and asked if I needed anything, I asked for new towels, she brings them in and asks if I need anything else. I said no, she takes out the trash. Asks again, I say no, she takes old towels. Asks again, I say no, she then replaced the tissue. Good thing I'm comfortable in a state of undress, but she clearly wasn't going to listen to what I wanted.

I arranged for my parents to stay in the adjoining room. When they arrived we found the lock on their door was not functioning. The staff offered to move my parents to another room, but they wanted to stay next to us and their new grandchild. So they made keys for them to go through our room. When we finally headed off to bed my mother found that a large ant (apparently, regular for Chicago) had bitten her. When she looked around, she found that there were ants all over her room that were meandering into our adjoining room. Since we have a young baby it was imperative that we get him away from biting bugs.
After way too much conversation with the staff they offered for us to move up to a higher floor, with rooms next to each other, but not adjoining. We had to pack up and move out of our rooms at 1 am. They offered to send someone up to help us move our things. The person they sent couldn't do much because he had recently had hernia surgery, so he still needed my husband to help push up 2 rooms of bags and a crib. He then asked us for the keys to our previous room back so they could let someone else stay there. My mother requested that we keep them so we could check our rooms for our things without sand in our eyes. First he curtly denied this. Again, after too much discussion, he allowed this request to be fulfilled. We were not able to get to bed until 3am! I'm so lucky our baby stayed asleep thought this ordeal because that would have made me completely loose it.

You thought that was the end of that night, right? Nope, my mother asked to make an incident report in the morning, but they called that night. At 3am, twice. To MY room. You know, the one with the sleeping baby. Of course he woke up. Oooh I hate it!

Day/Night 3/5: when we returned to the room for the evening we found that our room had not been cleaned. When I called to ask about it, the gentleman at the front desk asked me if I had a 'do not disturb' sign on the door. I said I had not, but it didn't matter really, so I asked for a set of towels and floor mats. Moments later a lady called to ask all the questions I had just told the gentleman I called first. She then called back AGAIN to tell me the maid service noted i did have 'do not disturb sign' on the door. Really, whether or not it was there was never an issue. I didn't care that the room wasn't cleaned I just wanted the towels. Thanks for waking the baby. Her persistence on this non-issue made me feel like she was calling me a liar. When they came up some one knocked, threw the towels at the door and was gone before we could acknowledge the knock. Sorry for making you work.

Lesser issues, I just want to vent now:
They could never get the room assignment straight so they would call for my mother into my room and would call me by my mothers name when I called, even after telling them multiple times.
I asked about the use of a refrigerator because I had breast milk to save. The front desks reply to my request was "we have a microwave."

    Update
Two weeks after my stay I had calmed down and called Hilton Corporate office directly. One of their friendly representatives played mediator between the hotel manager and me. The hotel manager AGAIN believed me to be my mother (who had already gotten a refund) and was refusing to give me a refund, as if we didn't have separate rooms, bills and issues. The Hilton Rep gave me back 2 nights. The Hilton brand is saved, But this hotel is DEAD to me.

Ugly looking hotel in a not so pretty area of town....LOUD too, with airplanes, cars, and trains running on a track and crossing (as in bells ringing incessantly throughout the night) right next to the hotel. Tons of lights & neon around, and the blackout curtains decided not to work the night I needed them to.  So not the hotel for you if you want a good nights sleep.  It's expensive too...I paid almost twice as much the previous night when I had business further west of the city.

Only redeeming thing is that the hotel is of course, convenient to Midway airport, where I had a flight the next morning.  The front desk staff were really nice, but it took them forever to search on their computer to check me in...made me nervous that they lost my reservation.

Furnishings & decor have been updated, but old-ish loud a/c units remain, and there are florescent bulbs in many of the light fixtures, including the bathroom & vanity...ew.  Beds are way too bouncy and uncomfortable for a good nights sleep.

Definitely not up to par with other Hilton brand hotels.

I stayed here for work. The hotel and guest rooms are generally clean. The hotel staff friendly and courteous. My only complaints are; the walls are too thin and there isn't a microwave and refrigerator in the guest rooms.

Good hotel for a few days.  I was here on business and liked it.  No corner suites as the hotel is a rotunda.  My room was nice, I just happened to see a little water damage from the wallpaper peeling in my room.  The Executive Lounge was pretty good.  A good breakfast choice - continental with bagels, lox, sausage and eggs.  And the coffee is good too.  The staff is very friendly and the gym is just okay...

Good place to gather family and friends for something casual or something dressy. It's in a decent location and everyone can get there, by bus, train or car.

However, there are better places. Check out other hotels for accommodations.

A very good hotel with easy proximity to Midway airport.  I was in and out very fast however it was a well apportioned hotel.  I was able to book the hotel on Hotwire for a very reasonable rate.  They also had a very good exercise room which I loved as well.

The staff was especially helpful as I did have an issue where the key did not work. Rather than redo and just send me up, running the risk of another problem, the front desk had a person go with me to ensure it worked right.

Overall, I would definitely stay here again and definitely use Hotwire.  Seems like $80 per night is about what people pay using that service.  You will not get your Hilton Honors points but who cares.

I bought a night's stay here at charity auction, so I couldn't tell you about the prices. But it was a considerably nicer hotel than I expected in the suburbs. I know they recently renovated all the rooms and it shows. High-end stuff - granite counters, fancy soap, luxury bed linens, etc. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly too. My room faced Cicero Ave (busy street) which kind of sucked for street noise, but otherwise a very pleasant stay.

    1. Your pillows suck
    2. When I asked for Advil,  you said you don't have any. Astounded, I asked again "you guys don't have a first aid kit?" your response was "yes we do, but not for guests" and that was the end of the conversation. Um, you couldn't at least even direct me to a place that HAD Advil? I travel a lot, so I know for a fact that's not how Sheraton or Marriott would've treated me
    3. Your beds suck. I slept miserably all night

Avery good hotel to stay in if you are staying in the suburbs of Chicago.  The staff is very friendly and helpful.  The room are quiet and clean.  The restrauant is fantastic - five star food at a very reasonable price.

The room was the size of my master bathroom. And it was pricey. The staff was not warm or friendly.

For the first part of our weekend trip to Chicago, we rented a car and stayed at Hilton Oak Lawn.  While it was a bit out of the way for the sightseeing we did, the hotel itself was great for what we paid and what we got.  This wasn't the newest place and it wasn't an exciting area of town, but it did the job for what we needed, which was sleep, exercise, and trip planning.  The beds were super comfortable, the gym was convenient, and there was internet access in the business center.

Room was nice but I noticed the cigaret smell right away. It wasn't overbearing but still noticeable. Each room has access to free wifi but the reception was terrible in my room as I was able to barely get a signal. Otherwise, the room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Man oh man.  I was hoping for Karma on this one, but if you know me and Karma, you know we're not on the same page.

I arrived at the airport way early (Midway does not demand the 2 hour safety net).  I saw several people stranded because Delta overbooked the flight before mine.  I felt bad for them.  I also knew that my flight was overbooked, so I offered to be "bumped."  I also gave away my RTC (public transportation) pass with 3 days left on it.

Reward for the bump = $200 Delta voucher, $7 for dinner, $7 for breakfast, overnight in the Hilton Oak Lawn with shuttle to and from.

Got to my room, it smelled a little bit.  To be specific, my ex-girlfriend probably would have asked for another room.  I didn't mind so much.  The place is smoke free, but I wonder...  Anyway, the slow-draining shower and lack of bathroom ventilation was could be to blame.

Dinner: Cup of chicken noodle soup and a pepper crusted steak with carmelized onions, garlic cloves, and red pepers and a side veggie medley.  I also had some of the fresh-popped pop-corn.  Pop corn was good, soup was average (could have been Campell's I don;t know), Steak was no good.  I mentioned that I'd prefer medium rare and the bartender responded that it's a thin steak and is usually medium.  Red flag?  Yes.  Peppered?  No.  Also, it was as if the steak had been cooked at too low a temp for too long and then smacked around.  It lacked juiciness and carmelization.  Basically, it had no flavor.  I'm really not that picky, but this erased from my mind whatever my prior worst steak was.

Oh, and the blinds don't close.  There is a thin set that closes, but the thicker, sun-blocking ones don't close.  Faux!

And my room is equipped with a coffee maker, but only fake coffee (decaf).

    The pros:
    Free wifi
    Matt's a nice little bartender
    Ashley's a hot little receptionist
    Comfy beds

I thought this was comfy hotel - modern with flat screen tv and decor.  Ample parking all near the door and I liked the layout that the rooms are in a circle.  So you are never too far from the elevator.  The only con was the slowest elevator ever!

Oh - btw, we hotwired this for $78/night

People says that last year this place was more that today's date, last night I went into a Weeding and they were right, nothing seems like before, food is not good, service, etc.

I like service, quality food, customer service.

    Nothing outstanding.

Too bad that the former owner is not there anymore.

    Place "under new management"

You might want to be aware that this hotel openly allowed a terrorist organization hold an islamic terrorist convention at their hotel. If you read what the hotel manager says, they were aware of the reason but it didn't matter to them as long as they didn't disturb other guests. Obviously, this hotel manager doesn't understand how offensive it is to everyday Americans to see that this manager puts profit above his own country!. I have been to this hotel before but never again and I sincerely hope that you will make sure that this convention is not profitable for him by not patronizing this establishment.. Please forward to all other people that you believe should read and react to this by not doing business with this hotel.

Basic Hilton hotel...nothing outstanding but also not some nasty motel.

    Notes:

    ***Smoke Free Hotel
    ***Starbucks in lobby
    ***Big rooms, clean linens
    ***Free wireless internet
    ***Free shuttle to Midway airport
    ***Decent room service, nothing special
    ***Comfy bed
***Located in a boring neighborhood full of fast food joints
***Right by a train track...heard the train about once an hour, but not loud or annoying

Disclaimer: I usually choose a hotel not on amenities and name, but of value.  I'm only going to be sleeping there.  I booked a night at the Oak Lawn Hilton for the night of our wedding, since I felt like splurging a little and it was the closest place to do so.  We were rather tired when we finally got there, but there was one thing I had to check.  I had paid $50 more (total of $185) for a "city view" room.  Well, I was rather disappointed.  My city view consisted of a parking lot, a pizza place, and Christ Hospital.  (Not that I expected Oak Lawn to have a beautiful view anyway.)  The room itself was decent, and the bed delectably comfortable.  The best part was the next morning.  Check out time was not until noon, so we ordered breakfast by room service, and the omelet and coffee I had was very tasty.  Nothing like kicking back with breakfast delivered and ordering up some video games on the in house system!

My girlfriend and I went to my cousin's Wedding here earlier this year and we stayed the night as well. I've stayed in several Hotels in my life because my family takes a lot of Vacations so I think I have a pretty keen sense of what a good quality Hotel is like, and this is a nice Hotel. The Vending Machines were not the Greatest and I'm pretty sure there was no Arcade area, but the room was comfy and the whole place was very large. The pool looked like it would be nice. The gift shop seemed really geared towards people interested in odd nick knacks rather than the usual Hotel Gift Shop items which I guess is fine.. it's just a matter of personal interest.  There was like a Deli I believe, and a small convenient  Coffee place that you just walk up to. There seemed to be several Ballroom areas. The Ballroom we were in was pretty huge. The bartender seemed to be Psychic because he knew just how we wanted our drinks made. The food was pretty good from what I recall.  I probably will never go here ever again in my life unless another Family member gets married there again, because it's just way too far out of my way. I would probably go again in a heartbeat if it was a block away from my house though. It was not the best Hotel ever, but it's far from the worst also, it was really big and quite comfortable.

went to a cocktail reception here, i thought the ballroom was really nice (high ceilings, nice furnishings).  It was an appetizer/heavy-hors d'oeuvre reception and i thought the food was really good and there was a lot of variety.
