Below average food with terrible service. Â Ordered burgers and fries. Â Tough to mess up that order, but they managed to do it. Â First it took forever for our order to come out. Â Only two of us. Â Why so long? Â Burgers were not cooked right, and they skimped on the fries. You would think they were made of gold. Â Server never bothered to come around. Â The place was virtually empty during what should have been a busy time. Lousy management, leads to lousy food and service, which leads to customers never coming back. Â Avoid this place at all costs.
Review Source:Beers are still OK, service is pretty poor to be honest. What really annoyed me about my recent visit was their version of disco fries. We're in NJ, if you're going to put them on the menu make sure you make them right. 85% of the dish had no cheese or gravy, just plain old fries. I'm not a judge on Chopped, I WANT a mess of cheese and gravy on my fries! We closed our tab went next door to Jose Tejas, which is just as great as ever (when you can get a seat).
Review Source:I had a party of 16 in Houlihans, Fairfield NJ last night. The food was good all of my guests seemed to enjoy their meals. However, the waitress seemed put out. She was not very pleasant at all and all of my guests had the same experience. I was a few minutes late but my guests who were there on time for the reservation told me she was like this from the start. Â She came across as downright angry that she had to serve us. Her tip was already added to the bill that exceeded $300 and because of her unacceptable attitude towards my guests I did not add even an extra nickel. I would never have given her the amount they added, she did not deserve it. I will certainly think twice before bringing my family to Houlihans, Fairfield, NJ again.
Review Source:I come here once in a while and I am usually satisfied. The service is usually pretty good considering I've never been there on a super busy night.
I get the calamari just about every time I go and I'm never disappointed, it's always crunchy and fresh and never rubbery like some other places and the seasoning on it is just right.
Another plus is they have mini entrees which is great for someone like me who can't finish a whole meal. I always finish my meal with a cappuccino which is ABSOLUTELY THE BEST tasting one I have ever had, though it lacks the foam, and I am a major coffee drinker.
I'm a fan. Â I ate numerous meals here across numerous days thanks to a business trip that had me in a hotel across the street. They have a huge menu; but unlike most places with a huge menu, all of the items I had were actually good. BBQ ribs, Thai chili wings, pot roast... ALL of them were very very good. I don't recall being disappointed with any of it. A major detractor was one of the servers we had on one evening. We sat at the bar, which was largely empty, but our server decided to sit on a distant barstool and talk with a friend instead of take our orders, offer refills, etc. Not cool.
Review Source:Houlihan's never really disappoints if your looking for a basic meal with some drinks and a good bubbly environment. I have been to quite a few around the Tri state and I have always been happy.
The Fairfield Location in particular has a great staff, quick service, and great prices. Even when there is a wait, it seems to not be a long one.
The Bar is very nicely situated, they have plenty of TV's so no seat in the bar is a bad one.
The bar is in the center of the restaurant however, it doesn't take away from the family setting that Houlihan's has become so popular for.
I have always loved, there Spinach Dip with Cheesy Lavosh. I usually start my meal with that and get the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, with my girlfriend usually getting a Soup and entree, our meal is still usually under $45 which isn't bad in this area.
I must say lots of my friends rave about this place and I've never been there before this but it was excellent. Â The location is easy to get to and the restaurant has a very nice design (hate the short seats in the booths though). Â The staff is very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. But of course what do you go to a restaurant if not the food and I must say i was very impressed. Â The food was great...they may lack fhe over the top presentation of the cheesecake factory but they make up for it with excellent entrees. Â The Rosemary chicken comes highly recommended! Also if you have any room left after the parade of food check out the kamikaze chocolate fudge brownie with a scoop of vanilla to put you in a fantastic chocolatey coma hahaha. Â Best of all the place isnt really that pricey, so if your in that part of town definitely check it out.
