House of Brews

We went to House of Brews frankly because of the name. I didn't know what to expect. It's in the trader joes shopping center close to Huntington Harbor.

The food was really fantastic. The waitress was witty and laughed at our jokes. Beer selection was 7 out of 10.

Yeah, the decor is weird but so are the cougars of HB. Me-ow

This place has so much potential to be awesome! Don't get me wrong. The place is be fun with the interesting decor, cozy fireplace and lots of pool tables with animal print bumpers. The patrons are laid back and is a interesting mix of people depending on the night. But everything feels neglected and tired. The atmosphere seems to suck away the servers and bartenders energies.

What this place really needs if a fresh facelift. Not an all out remodel but a good new coat of paint, carpet and investing in new bigscreen tvs would make a hug difference.

Menu is you standard bar food. Very good but not anything to rave about. Prices seems a little high for what you get in taste and quality.

Love all the people that work there NOW ( used to be renown for slow service) and food has improved and not a bad meal there in years! A BIG step up from the fried bar food variety of most bars.

But $14 for a martini at your fav neighborhood haunt?
No way!!!  The prices are off the hook! $45 bill for a burger and two drinks?
I can't afford to haunt my haunt any more!!!!
Keep the quality, but come on! The pool should be free, if you gonna gauge us!
