HQ Night Club inside Revel Casino in Atlantic city is one of the most ridiculous clubs I've entered in a long time. Especially with the way patrons can be treated. Lets keep this in mind I don't drink but doesn't mean I don't know how to have a great time. First ill start off with it was my friends birthday we had a party of 10 on a list and each couple was still charged $60 entry fee. Then my fellow followers of yelp we get told oh the elevators do not work so all the women in those pumps got to walk up 6-7 flights of concrete slippery steps yeah now try doing that at the end of the night when most people are intoxified. Finally after catching our breath from the stair master HQ fitness Stair Course I walk into the club itself. This is where there's a toss up. The Dj was great EDM play was Crazy with a great light show and performance but from there it starts to fall off. Two very small bars roped off like your waiting on line for a ride at six flags and bouncers constantly trying to push you along. The drink prices are all manhattan prices if not higher. What was a shme is yes music was good and can look past drink prices but not charging that crazy of a door fee then saying hey you get to use the stair master to party. Sorry lucky it was a freinds bday or I would've taken my cash elsewhere. Very poor customer satisfaction and will not return.
Review Source:For starters, after our experience and others I've read about on here, HQ apparently routinely practices a bait-and-switch when it comes to their VIP tables. A group of friends and I planned on a trip there on a Saturday night. We called ahead and asked about reserving a VIP table and were given a price of $1,000 for a table inside by the dance floor. This wasn't cheap by our standards, but in our minds it was worth it if we didn't have to wait in line and would aslo get bottle service. So, we made a reservation. Upon arriving we went upstairs to the VIP entry area and waited about 15 minutes to talk to one of the guys carrying a clipboard. It was then that we were told tables inside were $2,000 and "I don't know who told you $1,000." They know they've got you by the balls when you see enormous lines waiting to get in, so they double the price. So, we were pissed. We started talking about it when the guy chimed in saying "there are no tables left inside, but we can give you one outside for $600. What good is a reservation if you're going to switch the price and location?
So we decided on the table outside and after waiting another 30 minutes they lead us to it.
Since it was nice out, the table area itself wasn't bad. It was not anywhere near the dance floor like we had wanted, but it was ok. Now, we paid $600 for the table, plus tax. Then, for bottle service, we paid $425 each fo 3 bottles of vodka, then they sell you overpriced mixers on top of that. Nothing like paying 15 times retail value for a bottle of vodka. We had a server, who was actually very nice. The servers dress like hookers. Stay classy, HQ.
The dance floor itself is very small. It'll take you 10 minutes just to get on it. Its called a dance floor but because of the setup you'll be doing very little dancing on it, as its so small and confined that the majority of your time will be spent bumping into people.
Ditto on the crowd. It's littered with an odd mix of douchebags and mostly average looking women. Granted, a club can't do much about who chooses to go there, or can they?
We toughed it out until about 4:00am and by then. we'd had enough. I left feeling like I'd just wasted a ton of money on nothing. I won't be back.
HQ is not the fanciest club like those exclusive ones in Manhattan, but it's so chill and happy, full of liveliness.
Much more spacious than I expected, even though it does get crowded fairly quickly.
Bouncer was initially gonna charge each of us 3 girls 30 bucks to get in at 2am, but our promoter Kevin got us in hassle free! Thanks Kevin, you are awesome!!
Anyway, the ambiance was nice, therefore, I had a wonderful time with friends.
Who would have known resort club could be so much fun?!
Well, after this past weekend, I can now say that I have finally stepped into the famous HQ at Revel. Is it Atlantic City's best? Do they have some of the world's best DJ's... absolutely! Does it live up to all the hype? Uhhh hell yeah it does!
I came here last night for Wolfgang Gartner and was super impressed. There is a bit of a line... but if you know a promoter or prebought your tickets for an EDM event, you'll be fine. Also helps if you are mindful of your girl to guy ratio. There is so much that I love about HQ. For instance, you need to dress to impress- none of that cheesey Jersey Shore attire. There are these beautiful high ceilings and an upper VIP lounge area with a balcony overlooking the main dance floor. There are pleanty of tables for bottle service, and more than one bar to buy drinks at. However, it still gets really packed, especially if you are there for a big DJ. This is the first club I've been to that actively gives out free stuff... like HQ stunna shades, huge glow sticks, etc. I didn't personally get any of this stuff but I thought that was cool as shit. They also have an awesome sound system and sweet light displays with enhance tour overall EDM experience. All of these are just a win win for an awesome night out and is the perfect for dancing your butt off... which is exactly what me and my gang of friends did! The only draw backs are the drink prices which are a little steep... and also that it gets super packed. Ohwell, the more the merrier, right? See ya soon HQ, I won't stay away for too long!
If I could give 0 stars I would. Even getting bottle service doesn't help. We came here for a birthday party, got here at the start of the night, and they were out of EVERYTHING we wanted to order! Four different kinds of beer, Maker's Mark, you name it, they DIDN'T have it! All this after making our friend buy dress shoes from Hugo Boss, even though (1) all the email said was "no athletic shoes", and (2) there were other people in SNEAKERS once we got inside. I guess paying $1000 minimum in bottle service only lets you wear those shoes when you're white, as opposed to a minority like my friend.
HQ is complete crap. Save your money and go somewhere else that actually cares about customer service.
I have gone to HQ twice and was able to get on the guest list so I only had to pay a $20 cover (no, does not include a drink). Get there early, the line gets long. I went with a group of friends as soon as they opened for the night and since it was early and empty, I got my hand stamped and walked out to hang out at The Social. Â After another hour or so I was able to skip the line and get dancing with my girlfriends.
Pros: Good music and variety of DJs. EC Twins are my favorite! They give out HQ glasses and glow sticks which I find fun. Actually, the HQ glow stick is very bright and I was able to use it for a few days when I lost power at home due to Hurricane Sandy, so thank you HQ!
Cons: You can get water, but you have to pay $7 because they only offer Fiji bottled water. I understand I am at a club in AC and drinks and cover will be expensive, but really you can't give me free glass of water after I already ordered 5 cocktails? Also, the main dance floor of the club is small. Unfortunately most of the current club space is taken up by tables for bottle service.
I am anticipating the completion of HQ. I hear once it's finished there will be multiple floors with different music and an outdoor area. Hopefully this gets completed soon!
been here several times in the past year and gotta say~ probably my favorite nightclub on the east coast right now.
Love: high ceiling, AWESOME sound system, international DJs, free glow sticks, nice decor, clean bathrooms (upstairs ladies room rarely has a line)
Hate: SUPER crowded.. kinda pricey (but in their defense, i paid $16 for a jagarbomb? it was like a double shot sooo it evens out, sorta?)
if you're a big EDM fan, you gotta hit up one of the shows at HQ. Â the quality is superb~ might be the best you'll get on east coast!
tip: stuff your wallet with all the dough you got! you're partying with the high rollers, dun expect a cheap night at HQ....
Rule of thumb is you pregame at your hotel rooms before you head to the club. Now tell me, HQ, how do you expect us (possibly intoxicated) ladies to walk up AND down 1000 flights of stairs in a short, tight, dress and 6 inch heels?? By the time, you make it to the top, you're already sober from being tired and frustrated. Once I entered the club, with basically broken feet, I realized that the vibe was a bit off-putting. The crowd was full of awkward, drunk people. We spent our night dodging many sleezy and shady middle aged men (where did they all come from??), paying for expensive drinks (on top of the already pricey $30-$50 cover charge) and attempting to navigate through the sardine packed center of the club.
I give HQ two stars because the sound system is very high quality, the venue is nice, and being a huge EDM fan myself, there are pretty good DJ lineups; however, despite all this, I don't think I will be coming back again any time soon.
Oh emm geeee!!
Those stairs are ridiculous!! Out of breath by the time you finish walking up or down the stairs... They played all techno/house music with a half of a rap song.. While i dont mind listening different genres of music, listening to techno all night gets real old real fast! Not worth cover charge!
I've fallen down the concrete stairs at HQ. Actually, I was navigating them quite swimmingly, until I was dragged down by my friend Danielle. Good to know that, given the opportunity, my friends would choose me as their partner in death.
Other than the inconvenient seven-thousand story joke of an exit, I'd rate my night (and all my nights) at HQ five stars. They have an unbelievable lineup of some of the best house DJs out there and the venue is set up well with a spacious dance floor and plenty of room at the tables for bottle service.
There is never a crazy line at the bathroom, drinks are made strong, and the bartenders are sans attitude. I still like the Borgata better, but Revel is quickly growing to be my favorite place to go and party in AC!
I'd actually make this 3.5 stars, but it's closer to 3 than 4...
Anyone who wants a top Club experience should definitely go to HQ. Â It's probably the best thing bringing in money to Revel, but too bad most of it is going to Angel Management Group.
HQ brings in Top House/EDM DJs every weekend. Â The dancefloor is somewhat small, as others have said, and usually gets so packed the only movement you'll be able to pull off is trying to force your way through without spilling your drink.
Here are some tips I have for making the best of your time at HQ:
- If you are in the general line, make sure you have at least a drink or two with you before entering the line. Â You will likely be there for awhile. Â I made this mistake and paid dearly for it, as all pregaming was for nothing.
- Bring a few bucks for the slots along the way. Â You never know, you might be able to pay for your whole night if you're lucky.
- Get ready for an outrageous cover. Â The night I was there (Saturday), it was $40 for women, $50 for men. Â They do take plastic at the door. Â
- As others said, get ready for the climb up the many flights of stairs.
- If after waiting in the long line, and you need to use the restroom, go up to the balcony level and use the bathrooms there. Â There will likely be much less of a line, and there is a bar on this level that is usually easier to load up at.
- Prep yourself, because drinks are expensive as well.
Honestly, it's a pretty good experience, based on who is playing there. Â I prefer mur.mur or Providence, as I've never had to wait that long to get in, or pay that much just to get in the door.
I thought people were kidding about the stairs. It just seems like such a dangerous situation for drunk people to be in. If I took away a star for every flight we had to climb in this place, I'd run out of stars.
I was on some kind of weird line/guest list so I only had to pay $20 to get in. There was no coat check. The drinks were expensive. The dance floor was pretty packed. They only played house music (which I personally didn't mind, but some of my friends weren't enjoying it.)
There were some exotic dancers toward the end of the night that were interesting though.
Probably won't be back here.
Drunk girls beware! There's about 5 flights of stairs to climb once you make it through the long line in HQ. Where do I begin with this place? The line moves slowly so your buzz might have worn off by the time you make it to the door, which is probably good since you gotta make it up those aforementioned death stairs.
Cover is $30 for girls, $40 for guys. The main area of the club it not so large, and the dance floor is packed! Like, if you plan on actually finishing your drink instead of wearing it on your cute outfit from people shoving and making you spill on yourself, stay away from the dance floor. There's no room to actually dance, just enough to kinda writhe against each other.
There are only 2 bars that I've seen, so my friends and I usually double fist cuz it's a painfully long process to get drinks. Thankfully the bathroom line was practically nonexistent for girls.
The DJ on that night played some awesomely dirty beats, but if she wasn't any good, I would have been over the club in an hour and left to lose my money in the casino downstairs. Go with your friends, but the experience is what you make it(and possibly dependent on how wasted you get).
I WAS GRINDING ON A STORMTROOPER LAST TIME I WAS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

This place new and so it holds a high reputation. Constantly hearing about this place through friends who frequently go to AC, l went here for a friend's surprise birthday and hoped it lived up to its reputation. It def did. The music is great and the overall scene is what you would expect of being the main go to spot of AC right now. The layout is interesting being a circle w the VIP area within dance floor area, similar to Mur Mur(but Mur Mur also has VIP off of the dance floor).
Because of its reputation, the girls that come here are very attractive overall. There's other small nice entertaining things of this place w confetti exploding at 1am or so w strobe lights it gives it this HOLY SHIT feeling and you may think... 'wow youre entertained easily...' but when you're there and you've been drinking and going apeshit on the dance floor w friends, it really sets the party mood
http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcd…
The downfall would be the bar could be rough to get a drink and the one biggest complaint is the price. Thanx to a friend who promotes in AC and Philly, we got in at 1am and cut line and only paid $10 per person rather than the $30 l believe it to be. If you are curious about this place or go here often and are constantly paying $30, hit me up on facebook and l'll get you on my friend's guestlist as that helps him as well. http://facebook.com/rob.…
My sisters and I went to HQ for the first time this past Saturday to see A-Trak. We had a great time, but there is some room for improvement. Lets start with the good stuff first.
Good:
-The talent that this club brings is stellar. Any of the big name DJs are bound to play there
- We stayed on the top balcony which gave us the best view to watch the former DMC champ do his thing. We got to see everything that A-Trak was doing (a true turntablist!) which was pretty cool :)
- Â Love the fact they have gogo dancers! #datazz
-The lighting and visuals are great! And the confetti blast is a nice touch as well!
Bad:
- There are no heat lamps on the outside balcony. It's the middle of Feb., there is snow on the ground and people are huddling for warmth trying to get their nicotine fix. Yes, I know the casino is smoke-free but you should try to cater to one of the bigger demographics of nightlife. #justsaying
-Climbing several flights of stairs to get to the club is horrendous. Bad building planning and I assume there is nothing they can do about it now, but at least make it prettier? Perhaps make it feel like you a somewhat in the club? Nicer lighting? Posters of upcoming events? Anything would be better than the parking garage stairs that I climbed that evening.
-I would've loved a smoke/fog machine for the complete club experience!
I know some yelpers were complaining about the cover charge, but to see a big name DJ the price is really no different than anywhere else.
I would def recommend this place. Its not huge but its pretty big and in the summer they have a open patio which is pretty cool. The music was really good and the crowd was fun. If there was more people in there it would be over packed. Drinks are expensive but that's every place in AC. Best part was that you can dance by the tables on the stage thing. The dancers they have in costumes is def a nice touch. Overall good experience!!!
Review Source:I would return to this nightclub. The venue was good, but smaller than it was hyped up to be. It seemed smaller than clubs at Vegas, but one of the roomier ones in AC.
I went to see Manufactured Superstars. Tickets were $40 and sold out, which compared to HQ's usual cover charge, was about the same. It was packed, but not overwhelmingly crowded. We didn't wait on line, which was probably because we purchased tickets online in advance. When you first walk in, you're challenged with a whole lot of stairs. I wore heels and it was not pleasant, but it was doable. Our group managed to score a spot on the dance floor up front near the stage for the entire night without feeling trampled on and pushed around. Music was great! You would have needed to like EDM to enjoy this event. They threw astronauts into the crowd, which my friend sold to some stranger for $50! haha There were also foam glow sticks and fun, silly sunglasses. There was a costumed elmo & pillsbury dough boy. I think drink prices were comparable to NYC prices. We eventually left around 3:30am, but the music was still going strong. All of our feet just hurt so much. Guys, you could probably get away with nice sneakers.
Pros:
- upper level balcony you can get away from the over-crowded main dance floor
- awesome music, the DJ's do a good job
- unique house dancers that wear exotic costumes like Lady Gaga
- drinks are served in large plasic cups (i dont like plasic cups for $10 drinks, but these were good since they were 16oz cups, you get alot for your money!)
- cool view of the beach from the floor to ceiling windows
Cons:
- $30/$40 cover charge, and hard time getting on a guest list
- No discounted cover if you arrive before 11pm (all other AC clubs offer this!)
- walking up 5 flights of stairs is redic!
- elevator broke when i was there
- way too crowded, you will wait a half hour in line at the bar for drinks (downstairs bar. Â Upstairs bar is a little better).
- Too many VIP tables, leaves little room for GA dancing
- Long line, and bouncers are not very friendly
- disgusting bathrooms
I'm glad I experienced HQ, overall I had a fun night. Â I love clubs and dancing. Â But after my night at HQ, I definately like Mur.mur, Mixx, and Dusk MUCH better. Â Even the Pool at Harrah's I like better, for the mere fact of more space, and less wait for drinks.
I should technically write two separate reviews, one giving a 5 star and one giving a 2 but we will settle on four since I am generous and ain't nobody got time fo dat.
Anyway, I went this past Friday AND Saturday and had two totally different experiences, one being a free one in VIP, one being I pay a discounted "list" general admission.
Let's talk about Friday,
So we get to Revel and expect to have to wait in line just like everyone else, when all of a sudden we meet these wonderful people who invite us into VIP about a half hour before they're going in, and the night takes a beautiful and unexpected turn. We order a bottle of Patron and a bottle of Absolut and we get the party started with some shots. We meet Ryan, the head of the VIP area (who was awesome) and he gives us our waitress for the night who was really hot and stayed close to re-pour whatever our hearts desired.
We also wound up with a free bottle of Kettle for being the cool table. Makes sense.
The smurf all of a sudden shows up and we get to rock it out with him, and I obviously give him a shot of patron for being a boss. Partying with the Yelp crew+ free patron+ Confetti everywhere+fog machines+decent DJ = Extremely Happy Tara
Awesome freakin night.
Moving onto Saturday....
Our VIP amigos have returned to their Long Island homes :( and we are left to figure out what to do that evening praying for another VIP miracle of course...no such luck.
Anyway, we get to Revel, wait on the short line since we are on a list. Still a $30 cover....Well that's different. Anyway, we start the walk...HOLY CRAP. Why are there so many stairs? Why are there so many PEOPLE. Why can I not breathe.
All of a sudden I am high maintenance, but totally different experience, still fun, but just way too crowded for night #2.
VIP is the way to be for HQ.
I came here on Sunday, 12/30 Pre-New years Eve party when Kaskade was spinning. Â I brought two exotic dancer (strippers) sisters as my date(s?).
John G below hit a spot-on review for me.
Maybe because I'm from DC where the clubs do not rival any LA, Vegas, NYC clubs and therefore don't have the experience some of the other raters have...but I had an outrageously good time and so did my girlfriends. 5-star night for me!
True:
It was SUPER packed...so packed that you thought twice about going to the bar to get a drink or to the bathroom to take a leak.
True:
Tickets were reasonable for what was provided but maybe expensive for the everyday joe, dick, jane, and mary. Â $250 for the three of us. Â I think $75/female, $100/male.
True:
WTF is up with making me climb 5 flights of stairs???
I thought the light show was incredible, the house dancers were incredible, the DJ was incredible....and I loved how HQ gave out free lightsticks. Â I probably lost 5 pounds of water weight and since I didn't get any alcohol, I remembered this marvelous time!
Dec 30th - Kaskade @ HQ
A disclaimer -- I'm outside YOUR demographic!
I've had Deadmau5 and Kaskade in constant rotation on my headsets the last two years, so this first visit by Kaskade to HQ was very appealing. Â He's better known in EDM circles as the resident DJ for several years at Cosmpolitan's Marquee in Las Vegas, which has been ranked consistently in the top 2 or 3 nightclubs in the USA.
But the reason you and I don't think entirely alike is that I just had my 60th birthday, and attended the performance with my wife. Â Not the meat market crowd, IOW -- I was there almost entirely for the music.
The club followed a classic 80s' formula I was familiar with from Danceteria, the Peppermint Lounge, and many other NYC venues: light shows, smoke/confetti machines, and loud LOUD. Table service has become a more prominent part in recent years (which increases club revenue, but decreases dance space). Â We were fortunate to have a line pass from our casino host, and so we didn't have to fool with the velvet rope line.
Now, I know this is southern Jersey, but come ON guys! Â Plaid lumberjack shirts? Â WTF?! Â I'm surprised any of these people were allowed in, but they seemed to occupy the larger male pool in the club proper. Â I almost wished for a gayer crowd: more money, better wardrobes, and reduced loutishness.
Women were mostly appropriately "skanky" though they didn't need to be. Â As we've seen over at Borgata, the current trend is for most women to enter on high platform heels right around 11pm. Â By 1am, they're generally out of the club, ditzed and sitting on the casino floor (!) barefoot because they can't tolerate (or balance on) their excruciating footwear any longer.
EDM, electronic dance music, doesn't make large demands on physical coordination. Â You just have to jump up and down to the beat and wave your glowsticks in the air. Â Granted, after 2-3 hours in a packed nightclub like this, you're dehydrated (and have flat feet). Â The situation worsens if you're drinking and/or self-medicating.
The club space itself was nice: a rice cooker of a central area with additional floors to provide some verticality. Â Keep a pocket LED handy to navigate the dark places. Â If you're new to this, or so old you'd forgotten (like me), dress VERY lightly and no external purses/pocketbooks; guys' wallets in a secure or front pocket. Â Not saying there's quick fingers, but you don't need a Learning Experience when casual clubbing.
Kaskade was very good, as I expected. Â But I'd personally like to hear his music in a different type of space than this -- maybe up in Revel's Ovation Hall rather than HQ. Â Better -- I'd like to see Revel sign a couple top DJs like him and have their experience and help in customizing the space. Â This will be extremely important when the HQ Beach Club finally opens in 2013.
Final note for those who pinch pennies: pre-show ticketing was $100/$75 male/female. Â This was a bargain for a New Years'Eve weekend. Â On the actual NYE, Kaskade was down in Miami, and tickets were $375/275.
A final note for Revel itself -- Yes, you're a casino. Â But what's wrong with playing the music of the performer(s) you hire throughout the club CONSTANTLY, both before and after the performance? Â And/or music videos from thise same performers? Â From the very first big act you had, Beyonce, I was amazed you didn't play her music AFTERWARDS in the casino (to induce people to stick around). Â The Digipit is cute and all that, especially for 18-year old boys on fake IDs, but they're completely non-responsive to anything else going on in their environment. Â (I hate to say this, but we stayed at the casino, gaming on New Years' Eve, and the "Digipit" was so locked in their dance routines that they didn't even do a countdown to midnight. Unacceptable!)
Score: 4 stars for a first-year club. Unique venue in southern NJ
Disclaimer:
-I love Vegas style clubs
-I love to be 'that guy' at a table at clubs. I'm 30. I'm not waiting on line for an hour and mushing onto a dance floor.
-I did not pay for my table this night :D
That being said.....
Had a bombbbbbbb a$$ time here! It took a 5-min phone call to reserve a table on the dance floor. Yes, there was a pricey table minimum, but not anything that you wouldn't find at any other decent club, even in AC. (Note: DO NOT buy a mezzanine table.) There was no name DJ that night, but the place was still packed and the music was great. The other people in our section were cool and the security guards were having fun with the rotating cast of females we were bringing around to our table (before you call me a dou$he, I'm aware 90% of these girls were just using us for drinks so I think we're even). They have a great DJ setup where big names could come and play and really get the crowd going. Big screen, fog machine, confetti, etc.
It died down around 2:30, we bounced at 3 and I woke up fully clothed. Good times indeed. If you like clubs, Vegas or EDM, this is the place to be in AC.
If you've been to Las Vegas or Miami, you know that a true nightclub has an aura of exclusivity and and it costs money to have a great time. Â HQ Nightclub is the first true mega-club (emphasis on mega) in Atlantic City based solely on the talent that they bring in on a nightly basis.
The music is following the current nightclub trend, which is House Music/EDM. Â The all-star DJ's they bring in are some of the best in the world; the same you would see at XS and Marquee in Vegas, or LIV in Miami. Â
Table minimums are much higher than the other nightclubs in town, but the service is far and away the best. Â You're probably looking at $1,500 table minimums on the low-end for weekend nights, and up to $4,000 for prime events. Â If you can pull a crew together who appreciates this scene, it's a hell of a time.
General Admission is between $20-$40 depending on the night, and drinks at the bar can be anywhere between $12-18 depending on whether you get house vodka with standard mixer, or you get a mixed red bull drink. Â A little heavier on both prices than the other AC clubs, but justified with the *new & hot* tag.
All in all, the best club experience you can get in the Northeast.
I'be been to Revel but hadn't partied at HQ so I was really looking forward to a solid night out of dancing, cocktails & listening to Michael Woods spin. Frankly I could have had just of a good time anywhere else. There was really nothing special about HQ. It was a lot smaller than I had expected. They have 1 elevator that gets you upstairs a few people at a time otherwise you have to hike up a few flights of stairs... in heels no less. We only had to pay $20 to get in although I hear its typically more, pause for eye roll, drinks were absurd but not any different from anywhere else in AC. I did enjoy their tables that surrounded the perimeter of the dance floor and had their own little runways to dance on.
Overall it was just ok. I didn't leave saying I cant wait to go back or that was the sickest time. Would I go back? Sure, I suppose but I've had better. Revel overall needs to step it up a bit.
HQ is pretty similar to the clubs in Vegas. Â I was there to see Dada Life so it was packed to the max as expected. Hard to get a drink, took almost 20 minutes every time thanks to the people that decide to hang in groups in that area. I would have given the club 4 stars if that was my only issue, because you can pretty much expect that at any new, "hot" club.
I deducted another star because of the women's bathroom situation! It was almost impossible to get in and out because they had these weird blocked off ropes around the bar that basically blocked the bathroom, plus there were 3 bouncers hanging around that area. Â They were extremely rude to the women trying to get in and out and just made it way more difficult than need be. I mean its the bathroom - come on peeps.
The club scene isn't really my thing but I was trying to be as non-biased as possible when it came to this review! Really awesome looking club aside from the drink and bathroom situation (there's a couple different floors).
Revel, I love you. You're my Vegas away from Vegas. I love your decor, I love your slot machines, I love Royal Jelly. But what is up with HQ?
$30/$40 admission fee for hotel guests? We're already paying $300+ a night, you really can't offer your paying guests free admission?
Plus, you have elevators. Put it to use. Stop making your guests, especially those in little dresses and high heels, walk up 5 flights of stairs. It's dangerous walking up and especially dangerous walking down. Isn't it a liability for you if people fell walking up/down the stairs?
Sure, your entertainers are cool with those lavish, alienistic costumes. And sure, those foam lights are cool. But seriously, get the line moving, stop charging your hotel guests, and utilize those elevators. Those costumes and the lights really aren't worth all that trouble.
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. Just a few reasons: Ridiculously long wait to get in, $30 cover for girls/$40 cover for guys and you must walk up a couple flights of concrete stairs to even get the club. Stairs? Seriously? Get it together HQ. I felt like just because we didn't get bottle service we had to take the stairs as a punishment. Inside you felt like you were in Vegas - which is great I suppose, but it was too packed and just not fun.
The burlesque bar was so much more fun.
This place was ridiculously overhyped. Just because it's the newest club doesn't mean its the best.
We showed up at around 12:30 and the wait on line was about 45 mins, $30 for ladies $40 for guys. Fine.
As soon as we got in, we were faced with about 5 flights of stairs. WHAT?? the girls are wearing HEELS!!
OK, FINE.
When we got inside, the interior was pretty sweet. Spacious, with a gorgeous outdoor patio and a second floor balcony. Only problem, it was ridiculously crowded. Maybe it was because there was a special DJ (Ken Loi..who??) or maybe everyone else wanted to try a new club.. but people were literally pushing each other to get past, and there were people waiting on a line just to get to the bar. People were fistpumping and punching each other, jumping around and stepping on people's toes. Ugh.
Also, they were playing techno/trance ALL NIGHT! Could you just switch it up a little bit:?? One of my friends literally was drooping on the dance floor..and not from being drunk.
Also on a minor note, the dancers were wearing these scary lady gaga/futuristic outfits...wasn't digging.
Pros: There was Iron man giving out glow sticks and shooting out fog. That was pretty cool.
HQ is a gorgeous club. Â The outdoor patio is pretty, with tons of seating and an expansive feel - I was talking to a group of girls that had been there for a while, and we all decided it would be a perfect place to have a cigar. Â The indoor part looks like an upscale concert hall, with the DJ perched on a stage above the floor. Â
Other than that, I was not impressed. Â The bouncer told us there were 5 floors inside, but it felt like there was one really large floor, and then a few small rooms off to the side... I could be wrong but it didn't seem like that many. Â They had closed elevator access for some reason and there were like 10 million stairs to the main floor. Â Way to make girls in heels wanna turn around and go to a different club!
My friends and I finally entered around 1am and the cover was $30 for ladies and $40 for guys... which isn't unheard of but it set our standard high. Â I ordered a cranberry vodka at the bar inside and it definitely didn't have alcohol in it - maybe the bartender thought I'd be too cracked to realize it but IIII wasn't! Â If I paid for it, it'd have been a waste of $12 hard-earned dollars. Â Bull.
The vibe - meh. Â The DJ was obviously talented but there was no hip hop anywhere which was not cool. Â I can take house/trance/techno music in small doses but I couldn't find anything other than oontz oontz oontz... after about 2 hours he mixed a Ne-Yo song with a house beat, which was mildly acceptable. Â I'd rather dance at bOb or blvd, though. Â If you prefer the fist pump over the booty shake, HQ is for you.
As for me... unless I have a black and mild and a deck of cards for the outdoor patio... I probably won't return.
Um.... I don't know what's the Hype about this place.
$ 30.00 cover for Ladies and $ 40.00 for Gentleman?
Line is LONG if you show up after Midnight.
UNLIMITED STAIRS!!!!
Overpriced Drinks
Unnatractive Dancers (they were not even Active or Happy at all).
Restrooms are small
Music is more towards House, Techno, Fist Pump style.
The reason I gave 2 stars....
1 - Ambiance was pretty well Decorated.
2 - Outdoor patio to hang out
I went back to Burlesque Nighclub, better music, not as crowded.
My 2 friends and I stayed at Revel this past weekend, and decided to check out HQ.
We originally wanted to trek over to mur.mur, but took a suggestion from our waiter at American Cut to check out HQ.
We got there around 10:30 or so, with about 30 people in front of us. Â After an hour wait, we finally are inside. Â In order to get to the club, you now have to walk up 4 or 5 floors, meaning 8 or 10 flights of steps with a landing in between (which were painted metal, it kind of reminded me of a staircase that would lead to a boiler room, really unfinished).
After finally making it up the stairs, I couldn't help but wonder how a girl does this in heels. Â We get to the small, cramped bar area and order up. Â There must have been dish soap in my glass, it tasted and smelled like palmolive. Â I politely asked for a new drink, and the bartender looked at me like I was crazy, then starts to smell the glass and shrugs... Â A minute later he gives me a new drink, no apology, nothing. Â Not the attitude I would have if I worked on tips.
Within a half an hour the undersized bar area is totally cramped, and everyone is pushing each other and squeezing to the bar. Â We stayed until about 2:30 am, and really wish I tried something different.
There was one tiny bathroom by the bar, which often had a line. Â After 10 minutes of waiting on the line, a bouncer tells me to use the bathroom upstairs. Â I said, I would rather wait (being that I was almost in the door), but he insisted I go upstairs. Â After 2 climbing 2 staircases, I find the mens room, and another line of 15 people waiting to use it. What a joke.
The music was fine, the room looked great, the temperature was in check with such a large crowd. Â The stairs, and lack of bathrooms earned HQ a spot on my never again list.
Came to Revel on a Saturday night for dinner and to get down at HQ. Â Long story short...this did NOT happen....
The resort itself is gorgeous, very hip and love the brand-spanking new feel of the place. However HQ is a freaking joke. After waiting for 2 hours on what was a ridiculous line- they clearly were trying to hype up the place because we later found out it was near empty! My friends and I soon realized we would probably have a better time playing with Snooki's baby down at one of the garbage dump Jersey Shore places than trying to get into HQ.
Between the loser unattractive bouncers who couldn't even get a mouse into the club but soaked in the attention of whichever crazy girl would flirt with him all for the sake of NOT getting in - and the $30-$50 per person worst than NYC cover charge - my posse and I wised up and bounced - we got off the mile long line, took our cute selves and our $20 and turned it into gold at the slot machines and blackjack table. Â
Yes you're the new, fancy kid on the block...but please get over yourself. Â I know they have to pay for the $50 gazillion dollars it took to build this resort - but maybe you should let people INTO your club so we can see if it lives up to the hype instead of making people wait on line for a half year or hoping they would shell out the money for bottle service. Â Wack, wack and even more wack...
I was just here this past weekend and I'm trying to figure out why people are giving this place one star. I went with a group of eight guys and instead of paying a $50 cover charge, we decided to put that money towards bottle service. They told us everything we needed to know so there were no surprises once we sat down at our table.
We were allowed to use the elevator to get to our table which was a treat because it seems no one else has. Even though it can be a hassle to walk up and down the stairs to get back and forth from the tables to the dance floor, it didn't bother me that much at all.
I though the DJ was great and the music was awesome. They played it loud and they don't play snippets of today's favorite songs which they seem to play at other Atlantic City clubs. It had a decent size dance floor so getting your dance on was no problem for me.
This place lived up to my expectations and I would definitely have no problem going back there again.
Had an AMAZING time at HQ on Saturday night and wanted to share the experience since it seems others did not enjoy it as much. My entire group had a BLAST and literally partied like rockstars for hours- definitely will be going back!
Yes, there was a ridiculous line. This is to be expected at the main nightclub at a brand new casino in AC on a Saturday in the middle of the summer. (Side note - at this time, only 2 of the 4 floors of the club are open. Once all 4 floors open up, I would imagine the line will be cut down significantly). My group (6 of us - 4 girls, 2 guys) was lucky enough to skip the line after speaking to a promoter, but I can see why it would suck if you had to wait. We also were escorted to the club in the elevator and did not have to endure the crazy amount of stairs everyone else mentions, so that was a plus as well. Not sure why we got elevator treatment, but I wasn't complaining!
Music was amazing - DJ Chachi and some other dude on before him were both tearing it up. Drinks were overpriced but not more so than any other AC club I've been to. We pregamed in the room a ton anyway so no need to spend thousands at the club. Crowd was great as well - everyone I encountered seemed to be having a great night and there were no annoying douche bags starting unnecessary fights - just a bunch of (attractive) folks drinking, chilling, and dancing their asses off on the dance floor.
If you don't like loud music, not the place for you. If you are intimidated by talking to a promoter and taking a chance on cutting the line (or if you are with more girls than guys), might not be the place for you. I also could have done without the $30 cover ( it was $40 for guys). But, if you play your cards right, you might just have one of the best nights you've ever experienced in Atlantic City!
I came here Saturday night with a group of ladies for a bachelorette party. Knowing it was a new club in a new hotel, we were prepared for lines and waiting so we arrived about an hour before the doors opened and took turns leaving the line to walk around, visit the restroom (which is impossible to find) and get a cocktail. The MOH called a few days earlier to see about a table, but they wanted a "minimum" of $1500 for our group of 12. What does that even mean?! Maybe it will be $1500, maybe it will be double...who knows?!
As we were waiting to get in and watching the line grow, some meatheads right behind us started a stare-down over some BS which almost escalated into a brawl. Testosterone...ugh. It took words being exchanged and a fighting circle opening up in the line for the 5 bouncers to come over and diffuse the situation. Never mind we were practically at the front of the line and they had to have seen what was happening. Not cool.
The doors finally open and we are slowly allowed in and charged $30 (!!!) each for cover. Guys were $40, but if you were on the guest list it was only $20. Why didn't the guy let my sister know about a guest list when she called about a table? Because F U, that's why. This place better be awesome inside....
We walk past an elevator bay and are told to take the stairs. In our heels. What idiot interior designer decided this was a great idea? My fat ass made it almost all the way up before I had to take my shoes off because my calves were cramping. We get to the top and grab a beer at the bar. Then we walk BACK DOWN a flight because we went past the main dance level. By the time we get to the floor we are sweaty, crampy and not feeling too glamorous. There is nothing special about the interior, except they like cording off sections and making walking around near impossible.
The music was terrible...the DJ would play the beginning of a great song and everyone would start dancing. He would then mix it into some electronic crap and everyone would lose their groove. Rinse and repeat. Their "dancers" would stand around the tables swaying to the music until someone sat in their section. Then they would hop down and start serving. I paid $30 for this? Never again. We left before 2am even though they are open until 4. This place won't last once the hype of it being "new" wears off. There are so many better places in AC where you can grab a bottle and table with your girlfriends and dance your ass off without breaking the bank. Just not here.
This is absolutely the WORST place I have ever been to!!!
We went last night with a group of 20 people for my birthday.
Even though we were on the guest list to get in, we still had to wait in line for over an hour! Once they let us through, we found out there were still 2 other lines we had to pass through till we got in. On top of that, they had the worst and rudest staff I have ever encountered. STILL... after we got in (after almost 1.5 h ours) they wouldn't let anyone use the elevators to get to the other floors. Everyone had to walk up 5 flights of stairs to get to the next floor. It took over 15 minutes to get a drink and they were watered down on top of that!
So to sum up... this place was over priced, rude staff, horrible music and completely un-organized.
We will NEVER go to this club again ever! If I could have given it negative stars, I would have! HORRIBLE!
One word: OVERRATED! This place is open until 4am, but it's the kind of place that you wished closed at 2am.
A group of 14 girlfriends and I stayed at Revel to celebrate our friend's bachelorette party. We decided to go to HQ for the night because we had heard good things and it was convenient enough. The maid of honor called earlier in the week to find out about the guest list and was told that they do not have one. The guy told us that cover would be $20 for girls and $30 for guys..a little steep in my opinion (given that they were offering no specials for a huge bachelorette party), but it is AC. We got to the line around midnight and thankfully one of our friends was able to sweet talk us to the front of the line. We were excited to see what all the fuss was about, but got slowed down when they tried to charge us $30/girl at the door (cover is $50 for guys). Ridiculous! The bouncer ended up giving us a discount to $20/girl, but only after us complaining and him approving of how we were all dressed (really creep?). Now for the real fun...walking up multiple flights of stairs (I'm talking at least 6). In heels, with a pre-gamed bride to be. Ummmm, where are your elevators? Once again, ridiculous.
Once we got in, the place was packed. Two bars swarmed with people on either ends of the entrance. I didnt even bother, but some of my friends waited up to 40 minutes to get a drink. When I asked them how much they paid, they responded "dont ask."
The dance floor was packed by people flailing about or too-old guys creeping up behind you. I felt like I was back at a club's teen night where everyone was humping whoever they could find. The lighting was really cool though, they had some interesting dancers off to the sides to watch, and they will let some girls dance on the platforms. The DJ was really good, the one who opened for him was alright. I eventually got tired of being groped and stepped on, so I took refuge outside. This was probably my favorite part, and the only thing that really made it worthwhile. They have a nice outdoor area with a decent amount of seating. I didnt see any cocktail waitresses walking by though, leaving you again to fend for yourself at the bar.
Ultimately, it was okay. I was really not impressed and I would have been pissed if I was a guy who paid $50 for cover. My friends and I ended up going to Social Club, just around the corner. They had a band, no cover, and plenty of room to dance. This is where we really had our fun.
