Having lived in Holbrook for over 33 years, I believe in supporting our hometown business, which was the reason I told my husband and son let's go to Irish Times for lunch today...got there about 2:30 p.m.....I admit it was busy with a private party but there were a lot of open booths in the bar area which would have been just fine with us..so there were stood at the empty hostess station for about 15 minutes watching waitresses rush by without even giving us a look and bartenders ignoring us...so, o.k. we got the hint that our business was not important and happily went off to Howard's Café in Patchogue where we were greeted with outrageously friendly waitresses and good pub grub.  Put in the few extra miles and go to Howard's Café in the Waldbaum's Shopping Center on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue!!!
Review Source:I do love Irish Times, I really really do!
Laid back atmosphere, awesome bar staff, and pretty good food.
I came here last night for an office Xmas party and we were all drinking and having a fantastic time.
My dear mother had three vodka gimlets (we can all imagine how that turned out), and I had a few tasty cocktails as well.
The office decided to have a buffet style dinner which included: a cheese and fruit platter (I love cheese and was very pleased when I saw that!), chicken franchese, a roast beef carving station, sausage and peppers, penne a la vodka, caesar salad, and mashed potatoes. All were very good dishes!
As the night progressed, a DJ came out and started playing a good mix of music that I just had to get my mother dancing with me, and I was successful.
Irish Times also has a gorgeous outdoor patio area with full bar, ping-pong tables, and seating which is obviously better for summer events.
The only negative about this bar is its placement in that it's the only bar in the Holbrook area, so there is not really a lot of surrounding night-life. Honestly though, I could easily see myself starting and ending my night at Irish and still having an awesome time.
