Having lived in Holbrook for over 33 years, I believe in supporting our hometown business, which was the reason I told my husband and son let's go to Irish Times for lunch today...got there about 2:30 p.m.....I admit it was busy with a private party but there were a lot of open booths in the bar area which would have been just fine with us..so there were stood at the empty hostess station for about 15 minutes watching waitresses rush by without even giving us a look and bartenders ignoring us...so, o.k. we got the hint that our business was not important and happily went off to Howard's Café in Patchogue where we were greeted with outrageously friendly waitresses and good pub grub.  Put in the few extra miles and go to Howard's Café in the Waldbaum's Shopping Center on Sunrise Highway in Patchogue!!!
Review Source:I do love Irish Times, I really really do!
Laid back atmosphere, awesome bar staff, and pretty good food.
I came here last night for an office Xmas party and we were all drinking and having a fantastic time.
My dear mother had three vodka gimlets (we can all imagine how that turned out), and I had a few tasty cocktails as well.
The office decided to have a buffet style dinner which included: a cheese and fruit platter (I love cheese and was very pleased when I saw that!), chicken franchese, a roast beef carving station, sausage and peppers, penne a la vodka, caesar salad, and mashed potatoes. All were very good dishes!
As the night progressed, a DJ came out and started playing a good mix of music that I just had to get my mother dancing with me, and I was successful.
Irish Times also has a gorgeous outdoor patio area with full bar, ping-pong tables, and seating which is obviously better for summer events.
The only negative about this bar is its placement in that it's the only bar in the Holbrook area, so there is not really a lot of surrounding night-life. Honestly though, I could easily see myself starting and ending my night at Irish and still having an awesome time.
I came here for a baby shower, however, the other gentlemen attending, along with myself, left shortly after arriving. We did, however, manage to have a frsoty beverage or two before departing.
From the outside, Irish Times looks pretty mundane, located in a banal strip mall. Once inside however, you are greeted by a very large and open bar area with a huge mahogany bar. TV's all over the place, and they have a daily trivia question up on the blackboard.
Out back there is a decent sized patio, complete with tables, chairs and portable heaters for those chilly evenings.
I can only review the beer. It was cold, refreshing and local (Blue Point is right down the road.) And the bartender serving it was easy on the eyes.
Great happy hour place! Half price drinks and they usually even have live music. Right around the office from me so also very convenient. In the summer they have free grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and italian sausage, in the winter they have a heated outdoor patio. Bathrooms are clean. The food is so-so. Good enough, but nothing special.
Review Source:I LOVE IRISH TIMES!! Â During the winter months we are there just about every Friday night. Â Great crowd, GREAT bartenders and great music. Â The food at Irish Times is good, but its typical bar food. Â Nothing spectacular. Â The wing specials during football season were awesome! Â The wings are the one thing I would go back for time and time again! Â The drink prices are average for Long Island.
Review Source:Terrible!  Nothing Irish about it!  Was looking forward to a traditional Sheppards Pie from an Irish pub.  What I got was a greasy undercooked plate of garbage.  After a very disappointing dinner my party and I decided to hang at the bar for drinks.  Took ten minutes to attract one of the two bartenders to serve us even though half the stools at the bar were empty.  Tap beer tasted like the lines have not been cleaned in a while, so  quickly switched to the bottled beer which was the only thing of the night I enjoyed.  Atmosphere quickly changed from a family restaurant to a wannabe Jersey Shore nightclub!  Within a matter of 1 hour I went from having a conversation with a friend to struggling to hear myself think.  The music was pumping and makeshift dance floor made it almost impassable to get to the restrooms.  Unless your trying to get a glimpse of Snookie or JWOW I would not recommend this place for dinner or a drink.  Just one mans opinion.
Review Source:Pub.
Although it is called Irish Times, it didn't seem all that "Irish" to me... except for the booze of course...
The place is large with an extremely large bar area- great for meeting a LOT of people for drinks, or for meeting new people over drinks. Â
Bartenders were all champs (almost - one dour guy back there - everyone else was chipper) and the drinks are well made. Â We started and ended our night there and on the end side of things, live music was playing, the drinks moved to plastic cups and the joint was jumping. Â
There is an outdoor area as well complete with bar and ping pong tables - this place gets hopping.
They have a dining area as well but we didn't need that end of it.
Parking in front.
Been here countless times and only had one bad experience - which was a fault of one of the customers, not the bar at all. Â Drinks are strong, food is good, and prices are right. Â Servers and bartenders are competent and quick, and usually willing to strike up a conversation if they're not too busy. Â Physically, the place is spacious and quite nice actually. Â I enjoy drinking here during the day when it's quite and I can sit back and watch one of the TV's. Â Out back, they've got a large outdoor patio area and another bar. Â Smoking is permitted out there, so when it's busy, expect a cloud of smoke to be lingering out there.
Review Source:Whenever I go here I always get the exact same things from the menu. Â You should just follow my lead and get this:
Guinness
French Onion Soup
Buffalo Bits (They're better than the wings)
Hamburger with 1/2 and 1/2 (French Fries & Onion Rings) with Blue Cheese on the Side
Also amazing are their potato skins and their Monte Cristo sandwich.
Service is sometimes dreadfully slow... make sure you get the waitress with the Irish accent! Â And if there is a band playing often the music is way too loud. Â Avoid late nights on Friday and Saturday -- the bar crowd is sometimes too much.
There's also a separate room to book catered parties and events -- great for bridal and baby showers.
