Two singles Meetup gps showed for this night out. I had not heard of Ten83 although my gym is nearby. The term used was 'upscale'. It is upscale for Holbrook, perhaps-a bar in a tiny strip mall. Low soft seating and padded square seats were six feet from the bar. There was no place to set a glass unless you reached past the standing to a board on a wall. Â Holbrook is trying to get it's act together w/the resurfacing of roads and marking turn lanes. The "lounge" offers no food. Not even a salted nut. Order wine and you will be given an empty glass and a airline bottle. Juggle that stem, the bottle w/twist off, and a napkin girls. The drinks were watered dwn, I was told-open bar from 8-9P. I met a well dressed single woman. She pointed out two men (w/a yawn) whom she had dated, and they were talking! She left at the end of the night w/one of the past boyfriend's who sported a 1970's type Members Only jkt. We are not talking retro but grabbed from the back of the closet. Reg. seeing the hoard took a single beer and exited. The next crew to arrive was men invited off Plenty-O-Fish. They were carbon copies...balding, 40's, never marrieds, glasses, round soft faces, and laking social skills. The band was No Excuses. I found a spot next to the ATM machine covered in jkts, and the bar...danced on concrete and passed the empties. (I have a long, yet delicate, reach.) The band rocked the late 80's and the lead singer was quite the showman. When he sang Man In The Box...he "saved me". A woman shouted to me that the security guard who came to stand back to wall at the bar was eyeing me up and dwn. I said, "Happens all the time. Nothing comes of it." She looked miffed like I should nab the guy. Isn't he on the clock? OK, part of him was on the clock. Next to arrive was the younger set who gave music requests and sang w/the band. Really people? I took to standing early on vs the butts on parade view from seating. My heels allow for four hours, and I was past that at this point. Upon leaving I noted a cobblestone patio. The band plays outdoors come warm weather. Has anyone ever danced on cobblestone? It would wreck you feet and your heels. Ten83 in nutshell. Been there and don't need to go back.
Review Source:In all honestly this has to be one of the worst bars I have ever been to. I usually hate leaving one star reviews, however after attending an event at Ten 83 I have no positives to say.
The first major issue with the place is the entire bar is so limited that essentially they have a few vodkas, some Patron, and a handful of beers and cheap wines. As far as specialty drinks go, you're pretty much limited to mixing and matching liquors. I asked for a Mojito, and they had no mint, so I ordered a Martini, and while they had the vodka, they had no olives.
Next came  the open bar (for the event I was at) and the selection was narrowed to just generic vodka and rum (and they ran out of rum after maybe 30 minutes) so drinks were limited to plain vodka. As far as wine goes, they were charging full price even during the open bar.
Moving on, heads up about the bathroom - despite being designed for one person, the door to the mens room has no lock, and it pulls right open  (similar to a fitting room door with the slots).
Finally, the overall atmosphere - it's actually a bit dreary and dingy looking and when it was packed, nearly impossible to move. As far as drink service - to get a drink you had to wait at least 15 minutes (if you were lucky) to just place your order.
Will I be going back? No, especially when there are numerous other better places worth the business.
