Went to Royal Jelly at Revel on a Friday night for a Bachelor party and had a great time. Nice space with a good staff and even better crowed. The burlesque dancers are hot and very talented. Perfect spot for a group of men but don't get me wrong, there were lots of women as well. We did the bottle service so we got our own little vip area with a juice girl and all. Because Royal Jelly is a Burlesque club, the dancers come on and put on a good show a couple times during the night. These women are talented and really nice to look at. The women in the crowed were nice and friendly. The crowed was all about having fun which is nice to see at clubs. I will def be coming back to Royal Jelly. The theme, crowed and staff won me over.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I were spending an evening in Atlantic City and, after perusing the reviews on Yelp, decided to hit up Royal Jelly for a change on pace from the typical AC nightclub.
We read that the burlesque performance usually starts around midnight, so after we spent a couple hours throwing away our money in the casino we went into the club around 11:15. I'm not sure if it was because of the time or the day (Thursday) but it was practically empty. The DJ was spinning but everyone was just standing around the perimeter sipping their drinks.
Thankfully, about a half hour or so later, people started to filter in. By midnight the club, albeit not packed (not complaining), was full of people getting their dance on.
I thought the music selection was perfect - top 40 hip hop dance hits from today back to the 80s. Even my boyfriend enjoyed it and he doesn't usually listen to anything "popular". I didn't think the DJ was the best mixer but I'll forgive it for the excellent track list.
The "burlesque" show started around 1 am. I put burlesque in quotations because  it's not really burlesque. Yes, there are scantily clad ladies wearing strategically placed electrical tape... but that doesn't mean it's burlesque.
Nevertheless, the girls were AWESOME. They looked like they were having a blast and rocked out while dancing on the bar and stage. It was so much fun. I wanted to be one of those girls. Maybe someday.
Overall we had a great time. I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot more than Club HQ which I had gone to several months ago. I'll be back to Royal Jelly!
I went to Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly Burlesque Friday night. I sat at the bar area outside of the club before going into the club. The bar outside of the club was cool because the dancers perform on the bar. I looked up from signing my receipt and sexy legs were directly in front of me. I enjoyed every moment. I went into the club after having a couple of drinks. I arrived early to avoid waiting in a long line. Royal Jelly has dancers throughout the entire club. The dancers can really move. I was impressed. I think the dancers really make the club (sexy). The DJ did a great job mixing the music all night. The DJ played music everyone could enjoy. Everyone in the club was dancing. The DJ definitely gets a 5 star for the night I visited Royal Jelly. The red lighting inside of the club was cool. There's a bar in the middle of the club. It's easy access to get a drink from the main bar. The men's bathroom was well maintained. Royal Jelly staff was professional. I was on the guest list for Friday night. The girl working the guest list was very helpful. I appreciated the good customer service. If you're looking to dance or enjoy sexy performers, Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub is a great choice.
Review Source:During this dreary stormy rainy day, I was thinking of the great time I had at the Revel's Ivan Kane Club. This was part of the Elite Winterfest weekend during the end of January of course. There were elites from several states in the area including: NY, NJ, PA, MD, DC and even VA. This was by far the largest Elite events I ever attended. It started on Friday and ended on Sunday. I met a lot of new Elites from as far as VA.
We occupied the entire club on Saturday night. The overhead dancers danced continuously as the Absolute vodka flowed continuously below the dancers. The bartenders were super efficient in serving the Elite hoard. I do mean hoard.
Check out my pics. I had such a great time that I ended up staying as our Elite event ended and the club opened to the general public. Several of the Elites stayed on as well. I finally left at around 2:00 AM and of course the club was still hoping even with some die hard Elites.
The music during the entire night was the best popular dance music ever.
I could not keep up so I ended up cabbing back to my room at Harrah's where I slept like a baby.
Bartender didn't put tequila in our $13 margaritas. When we called her on it she said ' I made it in front of you' and walked away. Yeah I watched her put ice, mix and some lime juice in it. She then proceeded to glare and chat up some guys at the other end of the bar. Didn't offer any resolution ie remake or another drink. We left.
Also the chic on the catwalk looked bored. Not fun and or sexy at all. Don't waste your money or time!
This was my 3rd time here. First time was when it first opened on a Sunday 2nd time my birthday during the summer time on a saturday and this last time was recently on a Friday.
Bartenders behind the bars are awesome, they take care of you. I never had to wait long for a drink however I find a spot to stand near the bar.
Also front desk are super nice and very accommodating, although it does get a bit crowed.
The club can get packed, not a big fan of sweaty people rubbing up against me bc we are packed like Sardines(referring to summertime)
I also do not like when it gets super crowed that people are pushing into you to get around or to get a drink.....no matter who they are.
I love the shows....first show of the night is more feathers and Boas and the later show is a little bit more risqué. Wish they were longer or more frequent.
OK, full disclosure- I came here for a Yelp event and got in for free and drank free vodka drinks for two hours. Â I can't see how someone wouldn't have fun in that kind of scenario. But I'll give my review as if I had paid full price and paid for drinks. Â
When you arrive, there's an outside bar with game tables and go-go dancers performing above the bar. Â If you are low on cash, you could sit outside and get a sample of the Jelly. Â But c'mon, you came here to go inside, right?
To get in, its $20 for women, $25 for men. Â But I'm sure prices can vary based on the night or if you get on a guest list. Â FYI- coat check is a staggering $5 per coat. Â Which I felt was excessive. Â But just be aware.... or don't wear a coat.
Inside, the club is pretty small. Â There are a whole lotta VIP sections on the perimeter, with a bar in the center, surrounded by a dance floor. Â There is also a stage on the one side for the show (I'll get to that later). Â Despite the small size, I liked the decor/ambiance of the club. Â
As for the bar, service was pretty quick (considering I was there for an open bar). Â Other reviewers have mentioned the $12-$14 per drink cost. Â Just remember the Atlantic City cardinal rule... Pregame in your damn room, son! Â Or if you are a chick, flirt with random men (sorry to my husband for that piece of advice... love you, honey!) Â Or you could always gamble beforehand and get free drinks that way.
I really liked the music selection. Â However, I'm pretty easy to please in that regard. Â The DJ on this particular night played a bunch of current top-40 type music as well as some oldie but goodies (the stuff I jammed out to in my shitty car in high school). Â
Now on to the best part... the burlesque show! Â Word of advice... pace your drinking so that you aren't too tuned up and miss the action! Â The show starts around midnight. Â I've never seen a burlesque performance, so I wasnt really sure what to expect. Â It was actually really fun and not skeezy at all. Â Totally worth the entrance price, in my opinion.
Overall, Royal Jelly loses one star because of the high cost and the small size of the club, but you are definitely bound to have a great night if you pregame a little bit and stay for the midnight show.
This isn't real burlesque. This is a dance club. I was expecting a burlesque show damn it! Oh well. Girls were dancing around in scantily clad outfits or there lack of is what I should say.
When my group of Yelpers arrived for Yelp's Winter Break weekend, we remained in line for awhile before they started letting  people in. When you first walk up there is a bar and a few tables for gambling.  There are tons of people standing around and this area can be very claustrophobic for those who do not like small spaces with confinement with little movement. Once you get through to the main venue you're okay. It is just the initial standing that gets aggravating.
Once in, there are tables around the place on elevated platforms overlooking the bar. The bar is centrally located in the middle of the venue. Above the bar is where the dancers frolic to the music. It isn't a huge space, but it can hold a good amount of people for a good time.
The night we came, we did not have to pay for drinks unless your ordered something outside of the supplemented vodka. Trust me it went dry before they anticipated it. The Yelpers had an amazing time including myself. We were dancing, socializing and hanging out with each other. Everyone mingled who were from other yelp communities.
This was the highlight of my weekend for sure.
Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly was my first foray into the world of adult entertainment. Â Thankfully, I attended with my husband who is a seasoned vet, and he offered a lot of good insight. Â I went to Royal Jelly for the Yelp Winter Break, and had a fantastic time. Â The front half of the club looks like any casino bar (with the addition of a half naked burlesque dancer), but the inside of the club is where the party's at. Â The layout reminds me of the discotheques of yesteryear...at least what I have seen of them on television. Â There's a light up dance floor, a glitzy stage, elevated catwalks for the dancers, and comfy, posh lounge areas. Â The DJ that particular night was awesome, and he kept the party alive all night. Â The dancers were lovely (I struggled with an appropriate adjective there), but my exotic dance club aficionado husband said that they should have been swapped out more. Â I'll take his word for it. Â My only complaint would be the price gouging for drinks. Â $8 for a bottle of Corona is highway robbery. Â But I suppose entertainment value is factored into the price, in which case I'd gladly go back and pay the $8!
Review Source:First I'm a dude so I liked everything about the place, and if your like me and have no patience for HQ lines better off at Burlesque club. They only have 1 bar inside but its shaped like a circle. Mandatory coat-check and door fee got me hot heavy, also drinks are way overpriced but your not coming in here to feed your mouth(fest w/ ur eyes maybe..)
Review Source:Absolutely the most fun night i've had in AC. IKRJ put on a great night with fun pretty go go dancer girls, a dj who spun good music and knew how to get a crowd into it. Varied from top 40, techno dance beats, and old school hip hop. Not a super packed dance floor so you had room to dance and mingle.
Located in the new ultra cool Revel resort, you know you are at the right spot as at the entrance you'll find catwalks with scantily clad go go dancer girls dancing around as you head into the club. With another catwalk and dancer inside situated above the bar which is situated in the center as it's easy to get drinks with super nice bartenders who heavy poured our drinks. As we were here for a yelp event there was plenty of space to socialize as we had the top 2 balcony VIP levels. Situated with plenty of couches and stripper poles as the night went on and brains got more inebriated our friends got more inclined to start dancing on the pole as the music encouraged them on.
The night had 2 burlesque shows with a live band and the girls did a wonderful job of dancing and removing their clothes burlesque style as i felt like i was in the middle of old school Paris with the moulin rouge enveloping the club.
Good casual atmosphere, great music, nice vibe, great cocktail waitresses and go go dancers anyone would have a good time here compared to the crowded pushy usual Jersey shore clubs. A must do in AC.
This burlesque spot definitely lived upto the expectation. We were here as part of the Yelp winter break weekend.
The place is huge with the bar in the centre and there is a lot of space to sit down and enjoy the burlesue and drinks. The DJ did a great job spinning some great tracks till the time the burlesque started. He played so many different genres of music. The lighting is perfect not to dark and not to bright which is apt for club/lounge kind of feel.
The waitresses did an awesome , I mean all of them. The bartender at the bar was good at remembering which drink one ordered before and would make the same drink the moment one comes to order the drink at the bar, that was sweet. We also ordered drinks after the yelp event, the drinks are expensive so make sure to pregame before coming here :)
The only thing which we wanted was that burlesque should have started early, they started pretty late. Ideally it should have started by midnight. Anyways overall a great place, I would definitely come back.
Honestly, this place is just nice. I mean, it's at Revel, so you would expect a really nice space, but the space, is REALLY nice! Really red as well; I'm feeling like that's a theme nowadays for nightlife spots = red. The place is a great set up, with a sunken bar, and elevated tables for you to see the whole club, and better yet, see the great burlesque on the stage. There's a mini stage high above the bar where there's always a girl dancing, which should keep you occupied until the show starts.
I've seen a lot of burlesque, or so I thought, until I came by here. Are you kidding me?! I couldn't BELIEVE how good the performances were that I saw here! I was seriously blown away. Best I've ever seen, for sure. Live band playing as well, and interacting with the dancers so well. There's a ton of stage space, and then a runway that leads to the bar....what does this mean? The dancers dance on the bar! Interacting with the crowd is the funniest because everyone is so nervous and awkward when the dancer does ANYTHING anywhere near them! It's great. Either way, this place is awesome..and you should surely go if you're around...I've heard there's a cover charge, but I guess most of the places in NJ have covers right?
This place is really great. I visited with my girlfriend during Yelp's Winter Break this past weekend, so entry, drink prices, and atmosphere may be different on a regular day. The music was really loud so it was tough to talk, but you didn't leave with your ears ringing. Even for an open bar, the drinks were of decent strength. I really liked the atmosphere and lighting. The bar area is in the middle of the place and it's pretty big. There are also numerous burlesque dancers dancing on platforms throughout. The bouncers are even pretty nice. You'll have a good time if you come. Tip: Look for a promo girl when you come up the escalator to Revel since they typically have free or reduced admission tickets.
Review Source:What happens in Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub stays in Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub!
Had to be one of the craziest Yelp parties we have ever been to. There were Yelpers on the stripper poles, grinding, dancing, debauchery, unlimited strong-ass vodka drinks, and just overall doing dirty going-ons and shenanigans every where you looked. I'm surprised TMZ and  Perez Hilton didn't put up pics and video!
The DJ here this night was just killing it with the mix of beats he was spinning, old school dance, current hits, freestyle, you name it. Our booze generated drunk asses were all over the dance floor for hours it seemed. Yelpers making out with Yelpers. Yelpers making out with new hook-ups. Yelpers swapping spit everywhere! Damn, this was a horny crew!
This place is more of a dance club than an actual burlesque spot. Normal high prices on drinks can be expected. They feature a bevvy of hot burlesque dancers that do their thing throughout the evening, and outside near the gaming area by the front entrance. Lots of cool spots to sit at that are higher up so you have a terrific vantage point of the dance floor and stage, and some have their own stripper poles! Cocktail waitresses here were awesomely fast bringing out the complimentary drinks (2 hour open bar 10-12), and after a few rounds knew exactly what to keep bringing us. The bartenders did a heavy pour too! I lost count of the amount of drinks we had. All I know is that we were all eff-ed up!
When the burlesque shows finally came on the stage late at night they rocked the place with a tantalizing display of  moves and gyrations, along with a killer band accompanying them. These gals were near naked, hot, and sexy!
This event, and Ivan Kane's, was off the chain! We had a blast here. If a few Yelp babies don't come out of this event nine months from now I will be shocked.
Shocked I tell ya!
I liked this place!
The Yelp event we came for there was 2 hours of free Absolut! :)
Raised areas to look at people dancing.
Sexy dancers that left nothing to the imagination raised above the bar was the "Burlesque" part, so that can be a bit misleading.
Whoever was the DJ on Saturday night had the best jams and I was dancing my ass off and having a grand ole time, it was like he was in my head.
I'd come back for sure!
The Burlesque show for Yelp's Winter Break was held here at like Midnight. And it was a mild ish burlesque compared to the ones I've seen at Red Palace in DC. The live band that accompanied the burlesque dancers were outstanding. I loved it.
The dancer, when she finally came on stage, was very nice. Doing all of the tantalizing moves and feats of daring. I enjoyed that, too.
During the waiting period, we were fortunate enough to have a dedicated waitress who replenished our free or $5 vodkas. Eventually, in true Yelp style, we drank the bar dry of vodka. Wow. Ok. So what are you going to do for the rest of the night? Idunno. Idunno...
Anyway, I probably didn't need any more to drink.
When we left, there was a madding crowd out front waiting to get in. I was glad we had had the whole club to ourselves prior to this.
So, to have a whole nightclub to yourself with half naked women dancing around to live bands and free vodkas is as good as it gets.
Since this venue was the second leg of a Yelp Event, I had already incurred drunken-blindness by time I walked through the door.
I don't remember a lot, but from what I do remember:
* there were raised areas for crews to mingle
* there were half-nekked "dancers" entertaining the crowd
* the bartenders poured strong-as-F Absolut sodas
* the DJ pounded the crowd with dope hip-hop tracks
* there was ample space to "dance", or as I like to call it, "faux baby-makin"
For some reason the words, "Are you down with OPP", keep ringing in my head. Â
OMGaaaawwwwd. Â NOW. I. REMEMBER.
I liked Royal Jelly: I am not afraid to admit it. Â Having been to Revel twice since it opened, I was intrigued by what kind of entertainment it would provide. Â It helped that I was given a free pass (although after reading other reviews, they might be giving out free passes to skip the cover).
To be clear, I am referring to the nightclub: not the area with table games visible from the casino floor. Â The coat check is outside of the club, next to the gaming tables. Â There is a circular bar in the center, with a woman dancing on a catwalk above. Â There is seating located above the main floor and a stage against the back wall.
It was full, but not packed, with plenty of room to dance without feeling squished. Â Drinks are typical of what I expected for an Atlantic City nightclub: $12 for Vodka Soda, $7 for a Bud Light. Â Tip: it would be best to gamble, get some free drinks while gambling, and use the proceeds to buy more in the club, but I digress...
The DJ was playing tasty jams that everybody had no trouble dancing to: the DJ even took requests that night. Â The burlesque shows were tasteful in the idea that it isn't a strip club: provocative enough to catch your attention, but reserved enough that it isn't pornography. Â Everybody, both men and women were watching. Â The jazz trio played recognizable songs and added to the entertainment.
Because Revel is non-smoking and I had a good time here, I would absolutely come back...cover charge, expensive drinks and all.
Leave it to me to miss the "nightclub" part of the name. I actually went into this place thinking I was in for a true burlesque show. But, in fact, that's not what this establishment is all about. What you get is a couple of half-naked girls dancing around the entrance area (which has a couple of elevated cat walks and a tiny stage) and then two "performances" around midnight at 2:00am. These performances were super short in my opinion. But they were cool to see and there was a good live band to go with them. But just know and realize that going in, you are going to a nightclub.
And like most nightclubs, it's loud and crowded and the drinks are way overpriced (like $10 for a bottle of beer overpriced). But the decor and atmosphere are nice. The main / non-VIP area is rather small. I would definitely, very highly suggest springing for a table / actual seat. The elevated seating areas are nice spots from which to view all the action and you get a cocktail waitress, so you don't have to fight your way up to the bar. One nice thing about the bar set-up, though, is that it's a circle, which provides you with a wide area from which to attempt to approach the bar and get an overpriced drink.
I'm not a club guy AT ALL, but I had a great time here last weekend. Â Granted, I was partying there with a bunch of Yelpers, who are all so fun and awesome, but still, it was cool. Â The interior of the club is very unique. Â There is sweet lighting, smoke machines, catwalks with naked chicks, and several elevated lounges. Â The bar is in the center, and always had plenty of bartenders, so nobody had to wait too long for drinks. Â The bathrooms are inside the club, and big enough so they don't get crowded. Â The DJ was solid, and even thew in an hour of 90s hip-hop, which makes everything better. Â Yes, the drinks are crazy over-priced, but this is in Revel, the newest casino in AC, which is in MAJOR DEBT. Â I got to meet Ivan Kane, who was actually really nice.
Review Source:I've actually never been to a burlesque show before so i wasn't sure what to expect at Ivan Kane's. Came here for a Yelp event and about 15 mins in, i realized that this was more of a club then an actual show. Drinks are normal price given the venue (12-14). The girls were smoking and leave almost nothing to the imagination. Decent spot for a party but would i return? Probably not.
Review Source:No, I wasn't ready for this jelly.
Overpriced drinks, weird staff, stockings on dancers.
The interior is awesome, modern and provocative. It felt awkward, even though we were here on a Thursday evening during a holiday weekend.
I'm sure it gets better later. I would totally come back to see an actual 'show' Lame alert, we left before 12:15am, when the show actually started. What dicks, huh?
Went here last night with 6 other friends and we had a fun time. After learning HQ was not open (because it was a Thursday and off-peak season) and not wanting to drive or trudge over to Tropicana, we decided to go here. We headed to the casino floor at about 11:30 pm and were almost immediately greeted by a woman giving out free passes for Royal Jelly. We got stamped into the club and entered a sparse space, which was worrisome at first. We got drinks at the circular bar and I asked a bouncer if there was a place where we could sit because many of the tables were reserved for VIPs. The bouncer looked around and kindly led us to an open seating area. He held out his hand to help the ladies get up the stairs. Later on I asked another bouncer what time the burlesque show would be on and he answered with a smile. I saw that they were also very attentive to the crowd during the show to make sure no one got handsy or inappropriate. Props for awesome bouncers!
There was a DJ playing and he had a good mix of different styles. After getting a little warmed up, we decided to go back down to the dance floor and get the party started ourselves. Many people were just sitting on the sides but as the night went on, more people began to arrive and we weren't the only ones dancing. The crowd was young and diverse. There were the usual creepy dudes but they were manageable.
A whiskey and coke was $12. Whew. Pre-gaming helped curb the overall amount I spent on drinks.
Bathrooms are within the club and right around the corner from the main area. Other than the time we lost power during Hurricane Sandy, that was the darkest bathroom I have ever been in. The darkness is a bit disorienting and it doesn't help that many of the patrons are drunk and/or teetering around in heels.
The show came on a little after 1 am. Burlesque or not, the dancers are very talented and entertaining. I think the show lasted about 10 minutes but my friends agreed that it should have been a little longer. Ladies and gents will both enjoy watching. The dancers strip down to thongs and glittery pasties but it's certainly not enough for a female patron to become uncomfortable, especially if this is their first time seeing live adult entertainment involving women. I liked the charismatic live band that accompanied the dancers as well.
After more dancing, drinks, and watching people try their hand at the stripper poles stationed throughout the club, we left a little past 3 am.
Come here instead of HQ, fellow Revelers! Why spend $40 when you only have to spend $20 for Royal Jelly!
Sassy, sexy ladies twirling their tassels..If you never been to a Burlesque club, RY will impress you, as I was. Based on observations, it seems everyone there enjoyed the shows. From the young ladies to the old creepy men.
Drinks are expensive. Music was okay. Not much dancing happened.
Come here for the experience :)
I am absolutely in love with this place and have been completely entertained every time I have been in there. Â It provides such a unique atmosphere that brings a lot more to the table than the typical night club scene. Â If you are looking for loud club music and tons of hardcore dancing, go to one of the typical night clubs. Â If you are looking for pure entertainment while still having the opportunity to dance the night away, this is your place. Â It brings different elements together in a way that I have never experienced before, live music with the in-house jazz band, sexy burlesque dancers that are either dancing above you or actually performing in one of the live shows, and then a DJ in between. Â This is what I call the heaven of club scenes because it gives you the best of all worlds. Â
It is worth mentioning my latest experience with Royal Jelly. Â I had recently planned a 30th birthday celebration and I knew at the very beginning that I wanted it to be here and nowhere else. Â With a fairly large group expected of over 40 people, I thought it was going to be very difficult to be accommodated. Â With that, I reached out to the club and Christiana Moffa, the general manager, responded to me immediately. Â I provided the details of what I was looking to do and she worked with me to figure out the best options and really provided me with one of the best customer service experiences in my life. Â She worked with the owner to make a special accommodation for my party and it ended up being one of the best nights of my life, in many ways because of Christiana's efforts. Â Not only did she do everything in her power to make sure that we were taken care of and my 30th went as planned, but she shared in the excitement with me throughout the process and made the overall experience just that much better. Â That is truly amazing customer service and I will be going back here many times. Â I want to thank you so much Christiana for making my birthday as special as it was, it means so much to me to know there are still people out there that are willing to go the extra mile for you. Â
On top of that, I wanted to mention one of the bartenders, Danielle Harbright, who made my night even that much more special. Â Given that the crowd was a bit lighter due to the hurricane coming through recently and the casino opening up the day of the party, we were able to get some really great interaction with the cocktail waitresses and bartenders. Â Danielle has taken care of me there a couple of times, and every time it gets better and better. Â She brings a level of energy to the night that is always unmatched and honestly, was a huge deciding factor in me wanting to do my party here and nowhere else. Â Danielle is hands down one of the greatest bartenders I have had and I am already looking forward to being back down there in a couple weeks (she better be working that night!). Â Thank you so much Danielle for everything you did to make my night one of the most memorable nights of my life, I will never forget all that you did for us! Â
Throughout the entire process of planning the party, I ran into so many frustrating customer service experiences with some of the other aspects of the party (i.e. booking the suite for example) but Christiana and Danielle single-handedly turned my overall experience into such a positive one. Â I really owe both of them so much and words can not even describe how appreciative I am for their efforts. Â
Overall, the experiences I have had at Royal Jelly are at the top of my list and they keep getting better. Â I absolutely recommend everyone to go and check this place out, trust me you will not regret it!
Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly is a really cute burlesque nightclub. It's not quite as packed as the other clubs in Revel, which is perfect. The show itself is really cute too. Yes, i'm sure if you bring boys in with 16 yr old hormones they will think of it as something far different from "cute", but thats how I choose to describe it. The girls, despite their lack of clothes seem to appear to be having fun, and they "rock n roll" dance acts give a lot of life to the show. I'm glad we went, and i'd certainly reccomend it.
Review Source:My group and I headed over to Royal Jelly for what we thought would have been one drink. We wound up staying for the duration.
Free admission for women (as it damn well should be!) but $20 for guys (on Thursday night at least). Structured/choreographed "burlesque" performances take place around 12:15 AM and 1:30 AM with the accompaniment of a live band (DJ is spinning during off-performance times). This is not classic burlesque...I would call this a modern spin on the fun art. The dancers are scantily clad enough to entice the men but not so much to make the female patrons uncomfortable. It is a perfect compromise.
The dancers are sometimes interactive with the guys during their stage performances. One of the ladies decided to wrap her legs around my man's head/face while she was hanging from the rafter by the bar. It was sexy, hilarious, and won't soon be forgotten. Drinks were expensive but I am not even going to get into that because it's Revel so just expect inflated drink costs everywhere you go.
This club is a must-try. Very different, very cool, very worthwhile. Truly, Dan R's review says it all!
GO HERE!
One of my favorite clubs in Atlantic City, which says a lot - I'm pretty picky about my AC club scene. Â Some friends and I got a room at the Revel in the beginning of the summer to check the new hotel out, the architecture of the whole building itself is pretty amazing. Â We decided to check out Royal Jelly because none of us had been to a burlesque club before and also for other obvious reasons (UH, why would we take a cab somewhere AWAY from Revel, aside from the Distrito Food Truck literally STEPS away??).
I took away one star because of the cover charge, unless you are lucky enough to obtain a reduced admission ticket from someone walking around the casino, your looking at a cover of anywhere around 25 bones. Â But, me being me, I obviously tracked down the golden ticket.
The whole experience was good to say the least. Â I think it has a lot to do with the group of people you have with you at any club really, but the drinks were quick and not as watered down as most other clubs. Â Music was great the whole night, lots of variety and didn't over do it on the Pit Bull singles. Â I will definitely be checking this place out again the next time me and my ladies head down for a GNO.
Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub is located inside the Revel Casino and Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. A recent trip to AC had us at Royal Jelly until the wee, wee hours of the evening. The crowd was very busy on our first night (Friday) and jam packed on saturday night. People of all ages, types, etc. Bartenders take care of you, keeping up with your beverages if you are your group are hanging a bit. Music is clubby, dancers are beautiful and appreciative of tips....sometimes tipping you back if you are there long enough. Ehm. VIP area with bottle service is swanky, if you can get in. We had a great time and met lots of people over drinks and dancing.
Review Source:To party in Atlatic City, there are too many options to go.
But since i'm staying at the Revel Hotel Resort, This is the most convenient when you're getting wasted.
Smart way to have a Burlesque nightclub where all this Attractive Ladies with exotic Lingerie's Dancing around on stage. Â Music varies from Hip Hop to Old School, to pop to top 40's. Â Live band in between while the Dancers show off around the stage to the bar. Â
Very Entertaining, Not super crowded at all. Â
One negative star... Cover fee $ 25.00?
In case Revel's seductive, nouveau-riche allure had you momentarily thinkin' you'd just traded AC for upper-crust Sin City, the dancers at Ivan Kane's Royal Jelly Burlesque Nightclub - closing out the night clad in star-spangled get-ups and gyrating to The Boss' "Born To Run" while red, white, and blue confetti popped and fluttered down on the crowd - are sure to remind you, you're still very much in Jersey. And despite how this may sound, it actually happened to be a thrice-fold treat for me as I admit to being all of the following:
1) Proudly born and raised in the Garden State
2) A huge Springsteen fan
3) Attracted to the fairer sex, particularly when they decide to don sparkly thongs and booby tassels for my drunken delight
However, when my night began, I could not have imagined such a high-octane, patriotic climax playing out before a crowded room of Revelers (see what I did there?) Arriving before midnight on a Thursday, subjected to no line outside the venue, and then waved past the cashier girl so as to not be charged cover, I was certainly gracious, but understandably a bit wary it might be dead inside the club.
To my surprise (and relief), Royal Jelly had already a nice, lively crowd going for it. The first thing to notice about the establishment, however, is that it's rather modest in size, relying heavily of the room's circular set-up. The perimeter is the standard ring of bottle service seating, with a portion blocked off for the performance stage and its naughty, chain-like, marquee curtain. A few steps down is the main floor, with a center bar where half-naked dancers crawl like cat burglars on scaffolding overhead. All in all, it has a very industrial-meets-bordello-meets-batting-cages vibe.
There were two performance blocks throughout the evening. The first was a pair of solo shows, where two young ladies took turns stripping down to boozy jazz music live on stage. A blaring saxophonist chased the girls around a bit to add some sort of horny suitor narrative to their choreographed disrobing. Admittedly, I am an amateur when it comes to burlesque shows, but from what I could tell, this seemed to be the more authentic bit of the evening.
An hour or two later was the second number, a group medley backed by a hard rock band this time around. A handful of women took the stage by storm, complete with loads of head-banging hair flips and cheerleading-on-crack enthusiasm. It would be unfair to call this stripper fare, but I suppose it would be unfair to call it bona fide burlesque, as well. Believe me, the hammered clientele didn't seem to mind one bit, because it'd be just as unfair to say this all wasn't a good-ass time. As for the Bruce homage? Well, that was just the cherry on top.
At $12 to $14 for standard mixed drinks, the prices here are highway robbery, but a bit easier to swallow if your cover was waived or you just won big out on the casino floor. Either way, shit like this is to be expected. Between performances, the DJ seemed to have his demographics down, treating the crowd through a chronology of dance music, decade by decade as the evening progressed, sending each generation to bed as the music got more and more recent. For example, I didn't last long through the early-morning EDM playlist, try as I might to have kept up.*
Anyway, of all the places I've partied in AC, Royal Jelly is certainly the most unique. Finding an overpriced nightclub where drunken frat boys follow high-heeled girls around on a dance floor is no needle-in-a-haystack-type search 'round these parts. Therefore, ladies, do not be all prude and turned off by the sight of fishnet buttcheeks and helicopter titties. I saw far fewer creeps on the dance floor with this brand of professional eye candy accessible. That, and it's refreshing to see a spot like this able to cut through the cookie-cutter clutter of Atlantic City nightlife with a fresh approach.
File under: all-out banger mixed with Dirty Jerz burlesque.
*Damn, does this mean EDM's my musical omega?
My 200th review...
It was Saturday night and me and the fellas were ready to get LIVE! We were down for whatever. We tried to get into the HQ Club, but they were sold out of bottles and Royal Jelly was the next best option... maybe even the better option. So we came through 4 deep got the VIP and the bottle service and we got LIVE!
I jammed and I rocked and everything in between and I don't even like dance clubs, but you better believe I was dancing. That's how live it was! There were some fine women in there. The ""strippers"" got it poppin up top and the burlesque dancers got it poppin down bottom. There was a live rock band. The whole joint was fockin rockin.
What could've been better...?
-The burlesque aspect could have been more true to what it was supposed to be
-I'm talking about that sheer, shiny, lacy, strappy, and leathery stuff... WOOAAW! (I think our dancers were dressed like cowgirls. Even Bally's Wild West has cowgirls.) I guess that's where the line is drawn between Vegas and AC. The ladies put on a good show though. Absolutely.
-For our bottle service... an ice scoop would've been cool. Otherwise, that Jameson crept up on me.
It's not my scene or my music, but I really enjoyed myself... a little too much. I was ON and then I was OUT! A couple of days later I found out how the rest of the night went and we rocked it. Eh. What sucks for me is that in all my groovyness... if I didn't lose them... somebody swiped some really expensive shades that I had. I can't blame them because they're some fly shades, but I miss them already.
A general gripe I have about Revel is the customer service over the phone... I waited over the expected 30mins and still couldn't get through. I did get through to Royal Jelly to ask about lost and found and my shades didn't turn up. No surprise there.
Last, if this wasn't a dance club it would make a cool underground Bloodsport fighting pit.
Burlesque this is not.
Think of it as toned down stripping, really. Sit at the bar and one or two dancers will gyrate above you while you drink $12 cocktails. Sometimes they'll walk on the bar itself.
It's a fun and unexpected place right in the middle of the casino, but it loses some points for not being true burlesque and for the weak drinks at quite a cost. Stop by for a glass of wine before you head to dinner, get some oogles in and then go to Distrito Cantina for tacos instead.
I went here last night with a group of friends and had a absolutely fantastic time! Â The cover was pricy ($20/women and $25/men), but definitely worth it. Â I was actually surprised that Royal Jelly wasn't packed last night (it looked like everyone was waiting in the ridiculous lines at HQ Night Club). Â
A note: Â If you hang around the entrance of Royal Jelly, there are girls giving out free admission cards with paid admission to HQ. Â Sounds like it a good idea, but the lines for HQ were so ridiculous, we just decided to head over to Royal Jelly and pay the cover instead.
The girls were awesome and sexy and performed on a stage, on the bar, above the bar (they have a cool platform above the bar with a clear floor so you can see the performers)...absolutely fantastic! Â They also performed to live music - nothing better than the roar of the live saxophone. Â Drinks here are expensive, but that seems to be the theme at the Revel Casino, so make sure you bring lots of cash.
I will definitely back here in the future!
OK Disney you just lost your title as "The Happiest Place on Earth." Â Ivan (yes, we feel like we are on a first name basis with him) has designed an unbelievable club experience. Â The club opens at 10, plan on a small line after 11 to pay the $20 - $25 cover to get in. Â The line moves quick enough, however if it goes too slow for you just look up and enjoy the dancers on the cat walk above. Beers are $7 in the bottle, mixed drinks are in the $16 range. Â The band is great and performs with the dancers who dance along the lower bar in 2 choreographed performances each night. Â The 2 different shows are about 20 minutes each and will completely grab your attention. Â The first show was a jazz mix and the second show was a rock show. Amazing! Both are very sexy and fun to watch. Â When the girls are not on stage performing they can be seen dancing to the DJ in different areas of the club, like the back bar, or on the huge suspended catwalk area in the middle of the club. Â Ladies you too can hop on stage or on a pole- when the dancers are not doing the 2 choreographed performances the club allows the ladies in the house to come up and dance on the stage. Â Want bottle service? Â Just make those arrangements through the clubs Facebook page. Excellent place for groups or couples looking for something different than the usual club scene. When we went the DJ played a great mix of 80's, 90's and current dance tracks. It was a blast!
