This place is an absolute middle america shitbox sprawled out strip mall attraction and no different than olive garden or ruby tuesday's... I'm sure they use the shittiest gmo ingredients in everything... got forced there on a family outing and ordered a veggie burger w/ a side of black beans......... the morons there put huge chunks of pork in the black beans and SERVED THEM ON A PLATE NEXT TO A VEGGIE BURGER..... This place and other places like it are exactly what is making America morbidly obese, get cancer, and die... sorry J alexander's... you guys lose, offended me, and should feel horrible about how shitty and non ethical your menu is.

I love this place - we headed over for lunch a few days ago and I meant to write a review as I'm a tough customer according to my friends. I worked in the industry for almost 10 years so I expect when paying a decent amount of cash for a meal that it will be solid. J Alexander's always delivers. I usually get a salad because the ingredients are always fresh but changed it up this time and got the veggie burger which was delicious. Bun was great, texture on the patty was great and the fries are always delicious. Most places will serve you a gardenburger or some other atrocity when ordering a meatless patty but this one is a must have. If you need a more upscale flair to your chain restaurant then this is the place for you

Also note - this place is dark inside, I have no idea why but know that going in. Even if you go at lunch on a Saturday they always light for "ambiance"

Wanted to try something new, this was an amazing experience, staff was friendly, I recommend to call ahead because there is a bit of a wait, the grilled artichoke was amazing, Mac and cheese and New York strip was perfect, and the carrot cake was moist and delicious, and I don't like carrot cake normally so that's saying something. It is on the pricy side, so it's a once on a while kinda place.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday on a Wednesday night. The hostess was very snobby but sat us right away. I had a side salad and a steak. My boyfriend had steak and macaroni. The food was good but was a bit pricey. The salad was served on a cold plate and tasted really fresh. All of our food was served hot and the steak was delicious. The only thing I didn't enjoy about this place was the snobby service. Even our waitress seemed stuck up. That aside, we had an enjoyable experience.

They don't take reservations but did have a call-in list for lunch. Nice atmosphere - a steakhouse feel, dark wood everywhere, good hostess. Lots of staff, young people in heavy eye makeup (well, the women) and blue Oxford shirts. It is very loud -- I was there for a work lunch and it was difficult to hear my colleague who was seated next to me in the booth.

We only had one course, and I had a salad - I think it was the grilled chicken salad, with feta cheese and champagne vinaigrette. There was lots of chicken, a good amount of salad, but skimpy on the cheese - I think I only ran into a few pieces in my whole plate. it came with nothing else - no bread with the entree salad (which ran about $14), no bread for the table. After we ate, they asked if we wanted coffee or ... I can't remember, but she suggested a specific dessert but did not offer a dessert menu. Service was prompt and officious. The coffee was very strong and good.

As we we finishing coffee, I started feeling super caffeinated. A half hour later, when I was dying of thirst, I realized the chicken just might have been so delicious because it included MSG. I didn't see any warning on the menu (and didn't think to ask the server), but if you're sensitive, be forewarned.

In a nutshell -- I'm not a big chain restaurant fan and didn't see or taste anything special that would cause me to return.

This is one of my favorite restaurants but is a bit too pricey - I love the prime rib, the grilled artichoke appetizer, and the Mac and cheese. Yum! Now I'm craving it!!!

VERY nice restaurant near IKEA and Park Meadows mall.

Food is excellent. Table service is proactive, responsive, and friendly.

Pricing is as expected.

The only slight - the hostess staff were not engaging. They seemed bored, even. No eye contact, no conversation. This is an easy - and important - fix, gang.

Every time I dine here I have a great meal but it frequently slips my mind when making plans.Probably because it is hidden behind the vast deluge of shops and restaurants on the northside of the Park Meadows Complex so it doesn't immediately come to mind...but it should.

I personally love their ahi tuna which is seared (barely) to perfection, the fire grilled artichokes are to die for and the creme brulee is just plain sinful. The Hubby can not resist their steak & frites but occasionally he tears himself away from the steak for the killer prime rib!

I like the casual wooded contemporary ambiance Alexander's offers with large booths and comfortable tables. They serve a mean martini or nice bottle of wine thus cinching their position as a go-to for power lunches and dinners out. Don't miss this hidden dining destination in the Park Meadows area.

J Alexander's is my favorite restaurant in Denver for a celebration. There are some mid-priced items on the menu such as the burger (It's one of the best I've ever had, but you should pay attention to what comes on it because they will put mustard on your burger unless they are told otherwise) to much higher-priced items such as the filet. The seafood there is consistently good. I particularly like the ahi salad served with a seared ahi tuna filet.

The spinach queso appetizer is awesome.

My old man sometimes gets a little frustrated with the servers because they will replace his drink glass with a full one and try to take his half-empty one. It's a quirk of his: he just can't let them take the glass until it's empty. It's also a quirk of theirs: they will replace your beverage when your glass is half-full. I don't mind, but if you've got a compulsion to finish your drink, it may annoy you.

If I need to take someone to a restaurant and know that we will have a good experience, I will pick J Alexander's. I do this especially because I know that if there is a problem, the management will address it and see that it is corrected.

Also of note: they have an excellent wine list. I've found several very good wines to drink at home by first ordering them at J's.

We went there for a company night out. The restaurant was loud and the service was bad. Even though we had separate checks the server tacked on automatic gratuity. He must have known he was going to do this because the service was terrible the whole evening. We had to ask for any and all refills, even with alcoholic beverages. He also got the check wrong and we ended up paying for an appetizer of a coworker but it isn't like you are going to complain about that in front of them and look cheap. On that note, the food was very good but overpriced in my opinion. I will not return to this restaurant.

I like J Alexander's. It's consistent and has a diverse menu if you're into prime rib, salmon, ahi tuna, chicken it has something for everyone. It's a great place to take clients to entertain or just a business meeting. Been here a lot for lunches that way and its a successful formula. Waitstaff always confirms order and brings it out at once hot! They get it right. Calamari and the artichoke are 2 great appetizers to start off the meal. Just don't eat a lot because the portions are healthy. My favorite is the salmon with sauteed spinach. Healthy and tasty!

I have had crab cakes from several restaurants over the years while living in Colorado, and J. Alexander's is the best by far, with the perfect sauce to compliment it.

Since 2002, I have been to this restaurant countless times. The menu can change slightly during the year. Here's what I've ordered and would definitely recommend: Spinach Dip, Calamari, Club Salad, Cobb Salad, Smashed Potatoes, Paneed Trout, Cilantro Shrimp, Rotisserie Chicken, Carrot Cake, and of course the Carolina Crab Cakes with Israeli couscous (Yum). This type of couscous is new to me, and taste almost like pasta. My boyfriend isn't a fan of couscous, but he tried the Israeli, and actually liked it.

The Crab Cakes are considered a seasonal item. Tip: At the bar, crab cakes are usually not listed under the appetizers. Ask the bartender if they can make the crab cakes as an app. 9 times out of 10, they will do it. The Sangria was delicious.

This was quite the surprise. The service was wonderful. Our server (Greg) was great with our 3 year old and had awesome table maintenance. The food was perfect. Yes, it's more expensive than other restaurants, but you get what you pay for. My only issue was the noise level, but I have an issue with that in any busy restaurant as I am hard of hearing. Can't wait to go back for another date night with the family.

Food was good price, so so so so good! Locations is great because you can sit out on the patio and watch the sunset. Service was great!

I got a martini with a floating lotus that was like nothing i have ever had before.

If you want a nice place this is it. Expect to spend 50-80 a person but it is worth it.

I think this restaurant is relatively new and is located in the same lot as Rock Bottom, just off County Line. The inside is very dim (it was hard to see my food) but I like the atmosphere -- it's got an older crowd feel to it.

I ordered the chicken milanese -- the taste and spices were there, but holy cow, this dish is not for the faint of heart when it comes to butter. I probably only ate a third of it because it I swear I could feel my heartbeat slowing down in my chest. The husband ordered the fish tacos... I have no idea what kind of fish it was but it was extremely "fishy" tasting.

I think I'd give this restaurant another try some other time, but for right now, 3 stars for a satisfactory Friday night dining experience.

What can I say, the food was absolutely fantastic! I went there for my birthday having never been there before. The waiter was very nice and attentive. I ordered the macadamia nut crusted fish entree, which I wasn't a fan of as it was fried, so I switched with my husband who had ordered the Cilantro Lime grilled shrimp with cajun spices. WOW! I was so happy he traded. It was fabulous. The prices are a bit high, but worth every penny! I was very satisfied and loved the dessert too!

As I was looking over the menu, I couldn't help but think: "What's the big deal? It's a burger joint and steakhouse. I could get the same stuff at Chili's and pay considerably less." But the menu is not very candid. The food that came out was very good. It was not just another place serving boring American Cuisine.

The burger was cooked perfectly, the bun was toasted and drizzled with butter, and the fries were thinly sliced and crispy. The french dip had a nicely balance au jus and once again the bread was nicely toasted and buttered.

This won't be a place I'll visit often because of the prices, but will be a nice every-once-in-a-while treat.

Five stars because J. Alexanders is very good at being what it is - a middle-high end restuarant. It's not as good as Del Frisco's, but it's much better than Applebee's. I had a ribeye that was very tasty, although it did confirm that I can still make a better steak than 95% of the restuarants out there. The service was excellent, the company was great, and the wines were well recommended & flowing. The Orin Swift Prisoner was very tasty. My wife's first steak was overcooked - she ordered medium and it came out well. They gave her a new one without question and comp'd her meal. I'd definitely recomend J. Alexander's if you're looking for a classy place to go & spend under $100 for the two of you. Enjoy!!! P.S. The carrot cake is to die for!

I took my best friends here to celebrate their engagement last night, and it was one of the best meals I've had my whole life.

We got there at just the right minute (a few minutes after 6 on a Friday). We had a 10-15 minute wait, and as people came in after us, their quoted wait time got longer and longer.

We were seated in a super comfy booth and ordered some drinks and the grilled artichokes to start. Holy MOLY were they good! Then they brought us some sourdough bread and butter, which was crunchy outside and warm and chewy on the inside. We all ended up ordering the same exact entree - 12 oz prime rib. WOW it was good. The mashed potatoes were also quite good - I only wish it had come with some sort of vegetable on the side as well. We shared a side of their delectable mac and cheese between the three of us and it was more than enough. Having read up on Yelp reviews before coming here, I had previously resolved that we HAD to get carrot cake. So we ordered espressos (which we were not charged for!!! Love that) and a piece of carrot cake to share. When it came, we decided it was more of a carrot SLAB because it was huge!!! It was served warm with the icing melting into the cake and was absolutely wonderful.

Yes, this meal was quite pricey, but it was worth every penny. The service was as fantastic as the food and I'm very glad I chose this restaurant to treat my best friends and celebrate their engagement.

Everything from their fire-roasted artichokes to their chocolate cake is good. It's a bit pricey, but the food is great. Plus you don't have to spend a ton of money; you can order appetizers and their sides which are fairly large in terms of portion size.

The service is always perfect, I've never had a problem.

The atmosphere was fabulous, our waitress was awesome. The food was great until two hours later when my daughter and I became violently ill. I contacted the restaurant and spoke with the manager, Brad, who informed me that food poisoning usually doesn't occur until 12 hours after consumption. According to http://WebMD.com, "The most common types of food poisoning generally cause symptoms within 2 - 6 hours of eating the food." My daughter and I had the exact same order and we had the exact same symptoms at the exact same time. I'm really bummed out because we spent a lot of money on dinner and really enjoyed ourselves. My daughter and husband went to the movies afterwards and had to leave because she got so sick.
For being a higher end restaurant, you would think that a situation like this would be handled more professionally and courteously. Booooo.

Negatives: No Reservations! Expensive. Crowded cattle car bar waiting area. Prime rib kind of tough.
Positives: Service at the bar was attentive. Baby back ribs good. Cole slaw delicious.
Summary: Don't think I would return on a Friday night at 630PM, when there were 200 people jammed into the bar space all waiting for a table. We never did get a table, even though I thought we had made reservations days in advance. Later learned there are no reservations. We ended up eating at the bar after waiting an hour for a table. Why are all these people paying stiff prices ($25 including tip for 2 martini's) and waiting in a line that reminded me of a queue at DIA airport or the driver's license bureau?

This place is outstanding! I always request to eat here when I come visit my mom in Colorado. Is it a bit pricey? Yes, but it's delicious and in my opinion better than most other restaurants that charge similar prices. The service is also impeccable.

Last night my mother and I ordered the Grilled Artichokes, the Thai Kai Salad, the French Dip Sandwich, a side of Fries and the Carrot Cake. Our server Heather was very attentive without being overbearing or obnoxious and trying too hard. She had a very sweet disposition. The salad was delicious and huge! My French Dip Sandwich was the BEST I've ever had! I don't think I've ever seen grilled Artichokes on a menu before. They are to die for and they are REAL grilled, not grilled on a grill pan on top of a regular stove.

They will cook the Prime Rib meat on the sandwich to your liking. It was juicy, moist and ultra flavorful. The aus jus was delectable and the baguette it was served on was perfectly crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. Their French Fries and Mac n Cheese are also dynamite!

We were so full that we ordered a piece of their Carrot Cake to take home and it was the BEST Carrot Cake I've ever had in a restaurant. Needless to say we will be back again and again!

If only the weather had been better. We would have sat on the patio but no it had to be windy. Ok so inside we sat and had Vodka Martinis with side cars. I had no idea what a side car was. I soon found out that it is a little carafe of more vodka. Nice touch as were the three olives. I always say I order Martinis for the olives. HEHEHE

Now to our dining choices. My friend and I had the same. I went in for a burger then decided on my usual salad but in the end tacos. The reason was the fish on the fish taco was grilled if we wanted and did not have to be fried. That changed my mind.. We had shoe string potatos and they were seasoned just right . I love the shoestring and I know they are not everyones favorite but they are mine. The fish on the tacos was very good. Too bad I don't remember what it was. We also had a side of cole slaw and it was really yummy. Way too much food and I am still full today.

The only down side was our waitress kept coming over to see if we were ready to order our food. We just wanted to sip our drinks and visit for awhile. Once we ordered everything was fine and service was great.

It is not cheap. Therefore I like going on special occassions during my lunch break or when meeting my friend. I will be back.

I love this place. have been lucky enough to have lunch here a couple times in the past couple weeks with a regular. It makes a huge difference when you have your hand held through something new. I otherwise would never have known how OUTSTANDING the artichokes are; how juicy and good the burgers are; how exceptional the wine list is; how fresh and delicious the salads are.

The location initially was initially a turn off. I'm never going to go out of my way to eat at a restaurant in a mall area, or in typical suburbia. Never.
But, I will go down, WHENEVERRR to eat here, because it's that damn good. Not to mention the service is excellent and the ambiance is perfect.
Two thumbs up for down south~

Took clients here for lunch. There were 11 of us.

We came in and ordered a few appetizers... calamari, fire grilled artichokes and something else I can't recall. I only tried the two mentioned.. and the whole table agreed... GREAT!!!

Our service was top notch, and its not easy to handle 11 people on a lunch break. I tried the Prime Rib/French Dip sandwich and a side salad.

I couldn't even finish the salad, it was BIG for a side salad ( I packed mine up to go) and had fresh made croutons, perfectly chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese and a great mix of green.

My sandwich was tender and perfectly cooked. I was too full to eat it all, and the shoestring fries a great compliment.

For dessert we all ordered some Carrot Cake, Key Lime Pie, and I shared a Very Best Chocolate Cake. Everything was good!!!! When I bit into the Chocolate cake..... heaven, moist, chocolatety!!! Yum. I did have a surprise in my first bite ( the wrapper from a Hershey's bar).. but the manager was very gracious and quickly replaced the piece at no charge... we joked that at least we know they make them from scratch and with real Hershey's chocolate. LOL.

Over all we left there VERY satisfied. I can't wait to try a dinner there... a steak or something. I was very impressed with how we were treated, and that we were checked in on at just the right time, every time.

Went here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. It's a bit darker and noisy, but not overbearing. It's also hidden back behind a little strip mall near Sonodas and Wahoos.

The service really was good and professional looking as none of us ever needed to ask for drink refills. Plates were cleared away in a speedy manner, and a request that went against the standards was able to be accommodated by our server. The food was quite good. I had some grilled salmon and wild rice. The salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly. My only complaint would be the prices. Sure this is a bit more of a high-scale place, but I expected a bit better portion of salmon for $16. Nonetheless, this is a very good restaurant when you want to drop a bit of ching. (or better yet get treated to lunch on business)

Man, after reading so many glowing reviews I expected this place to be packed. Where were all these happy diners when we showed up? At prime time our party of four were the only patrons in the entire restaurant until another couple came in just as we were leaving an hour later.

Service was okay since the servers had nothing else to do. We had to wait quite a while for our entrees. This doesn't normally bother me except that when the food did arrive it wasn't very good. Dinners ordered medium rare were absolutely raw and those ordered medium well were very rare. You'd think in the time it took to prepare them the cooks could have done them properly. After all, who else were they cooking for???

The skinny french fries were MUCH MUCH MUCH too salty to eat, so we left them behind. (Can I add another MUCH here?) Some sides were added to our plates (and charged for) even though we hadn't wanted or ordered them. (What a revenue enhancement!)

The restaurant was dark inside but I assume it was clean because of the lack of customers. Thus I did not give a rating of just one star. Regardless, I and my friends will never return to this overpriced and overhyped place.

Still 5 stars!

I have just never have a bad meal or anything less than top notch service at this place. My husband and I go here a lot for lunch and we even remarked today that we never seem to see the same servers - however we never have bad service. Go figure!

I have branched out in recent months and eaten some of their chicken sandwiches, their superb club and the Cypress Salad which is out of this world (are those croutons deep fried?).

At any rate, it is a nice atmosphere, good food and great service. It really is as good as it gets!

Absolutely fantastic! J. Alexanders is an exceptional experience. Everything was perfect.

We were looking for someplace new, someplace we hadn't been. It was our first time. It WON'T be the last. We will be back and we will be bringing family and friends.

Our server, Hannah R (one of 4 Hannah's at Alexanders), was SUPERB! Absolutely the best customer service I've had anywhere in a very long time.

If there was a negative star rating, this place would get it. Total crap.

From the moment we walked in, the hostess was rude and snotty, the service sucked, and the prices were ridiculous! $24 for a sandwich? Really? AND, that doesn't include fries or a salad. The least expensive option was $18--with no sides!

We walked out...

I admit to never having anything other than the bacon cheeseburger here. It's just so darn good it's hard to even pretend to look at anything else on the menu. They grind their own meat daily and make the burgers exactly to the way you want it. I have to have my meat charred and my wife medium and both burgers always come out perfect at the same time. You also get a huge mound of fries and a lunch here is kind of like lunch and dinner all together.

The service is always excellent. I never have to ask for a refill on my pop and they're always on the ball.

Excellent!

I had to downgrade my review based on my experience yesterday. I have been going to J. Alexander's for the last 4 years or so, and it has always been EXTREMELY consistent, until yesterday. I always order the Thai Kai salad, and the presentation was completely different and they took off the dressing that makes it so yummy. The service was just ok, not stellar like normal.

I will still go here because it is one of my favorites, but yesterday was the first time I have ever been let down by this place.

J Alexander's is a perfect place for a upscale, professional business meal. I came here with my team and I love it! This place is probably one of the best chain restaurants I have been to. It does have that "chain restaurant" feel from the outside, but still great nonetheless.

The service here is excellent. The food is delicious too...the ahi salad and fish of the day is very good...and so is the calamari appetizer. Also, the carrot cake is to DIE FOR. Try it!

Meh. This is the 2nd J Alexander's I've been to and although I like the ambiance and service, I am disappointed by the food. Then again, maybe my expectations are too high? Don't get me wrong, the food is good here, just not great. I don't find myself coming back here because I love the place, nor do I think about my experience afterwards. Both times, I've been here with partners for a business lunch, so the environment was conducive for discussion (few interruptions, semi-quiet environment).

I also knocked off a star for charging me for a refill of ice tea. I mean, who the hell does that??? And $2.50 for an Iced Tea??? Holy smokes - did you guys squeeze it out of a tea farmer or something?

I'd like to give 4.5 stars, but alas, that isn't an option. J Alexander's is one of my first choices for steak when I'm feeling like a high roller and want a juicy (medium rare) slab of beef. I don't go that often because I don't often feel like a high roller.

I've always been very satisfied with my service and food here. The meat isn't overly seasoned, the sides are interesting (hello mac n'cheese and maytag blue cheese coleslaw), and the options for salads satisfy my "I'm-trying-to-be-healthy" side. I also really enjoy the swanky interior. Granted, the open kitchen can get a little loud so I've had some rather difficult discussions when seated nearby--not to say the conversation was bad, just that it was hard to hear.

I've tasted and/or had for myself the Filet (thick and yummy), Prime Rib (big and juicy with plenty o'horseradish), and the Ribeye (well marbled and tasty). The baked potatoes are huge. The smashed potatoes are heavy and filling.

Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a great steak down south. I prefer eating here at dinner time rather than at lunch. I think they try to hurry at lunch (as they should) and I've had slightly less enjoyable food at that time.

Great setting, good food, friendly staff. Moderate prices and large portions. Good mix of offerings. For dessert have the chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream, but share it with three others unless you are a serious chocohalic. Only drawback is that the place is a bit hard to find as it is in the back of a shopping center.

I would recommend J. Alexanders.

- nice service
- good ambience.. good liquor and wines, but i admit, i usually get a beer :-)
- reasonable price for the upscale feel
- good kids menu (not printed, just ask!)

i like the thai chicken salad, but they have the most amazing selection of sides!!! pick 2, 3, get them all! i suggested they make a "side sampler"
