I was introduced to Jackie's about a year or two ago. Â Most of the time, the crawfish is pretty delicious, and they offer mushrooms, potatoes, corn, & sausage a la carte. Â Typically, if I'm having a craving and in the area, this would be one of the places I'd go to. Â
They have crawfish specials on Tuesday and Thursday, but be prepared. Â It is almost always packed. Â You have to search for a table yourself, which might require you to use your vulture-like skills. Â
This past season, there was one time when I was extremely disappointed with the crawfish. Â It tasted like they didn't purge them very well. Â I ate a few and gave up. Â If you knew me, then you would know that means the food was terrible. Â I was very reluctant to go back because I was so dissatisfied, but despite that, I went back with friends. Â The food was back to the standards I remembered. Â
Overall, I would go back.
We used to come here every Thursday night during crawfish season. $2.99 crawfish and 1.50 domestics if you have the "Jackie's" glass. If you plan to go for their crawfish specials, get there before 530 for a seat.
Good spicy crawfish, always a good band playing.
Downside is the slow waitstaff. I guess thats what happens when the place is jam packed. I am going to agree a few of the previous posts. This place was ALOT of fun until it got really popular and now the service and food isnt the best. We only come for the crawfish because the food isnt anything to rave about.
Parking sucks. Its a large dirt lot behind the place but it gets full fast and when it rains, its just a huge mud lot. What is cool is that they have a guy on a golf cart come pick u up from within the lot and take you to the front. Not a bad addition.
I used to love this place but then it got too popular. The staff changed, the crowd changed, the food changed. All for the worse. I like draft beer but they switched to plastic pint glasses! The glasses are not even chilled. Â I keep trying to go back but each time I do I am let down by the quality. Lately the crowd has thinned out and I wonder why.
Review Source:Jackie's is one of those places you really wish would just become a little better so you wait awhile to return again and when you finally do, are slightly more let down than the time before. I think the best aspect of the restaurant is the atmosphere and SOME of the wait staff (I've had wonderful waitresses and others that disappear and never return after ordering until you hunt them down for the check). The food really is sub-par. You CAN finish your plate but you just don't want to. I've never had their crawfish so I could be missing out on something critical, but all other items I've ever had there have really been "meh" at best.
Oh! And the last time I went every single beer we received was flat.
Stopped in for an off-hour lunch. Walking in the place looks pretty big. The place had a semi-strong smell of smoke even though no one was smoking. The kids didn't like that too much. The kids meals hot dogs and chicken fingers though were good. Chicken fingers could possibly be a contender on the next visit. Based on reviews I had to give the fish tacos a try. I got them blackened (3) and they were really good. They had some kickin spice to them which was great! This is what blackened should be! Fries were pretty good too. My wife got a big turkey sandwich which she said was a little bland and would have been better if it had some Chipolte mayo or something. Service was good, but then again we were one of the only people in the place.
Review Source:Very happy with our stop for lunch at Jackie's Brickhouse. Â We ate on the patio since we had our two dogs with us and were the only people there (a Monday), but the waitress was very attentive and friendly-we never once felt forgotten. Â The food was hot, filling and flavorful (chicken club and pulled pork sandwich) and the margaritas were good. Â They even brought out water for the pups. Â The prices were quite reasonable. Â Wish we lived closer-we would be bringing the dogs here all the time!
Review Source:Didn't step one foot inside, but did enjoy the patio on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Â The place looks huge, but again, I didn't explore beyond the outside. Â They did have crawfish, but the only reason I knew was because the people around us had ordered some. Â We skipped over the limited beer selection and went for a margarita and hurricane. Â Both were pretty good, not overly strong which was probably a good thing in the end =). Â Turns out the margarita's were half as much as the hurricane, good to know for next time!
Started off with some chips and queso, pretty good with the addition of the pico they plop on top. Â I had the turkey bacon sandwich, holy sandwich batman, that think was huge! Â Thick layer of turkey, bacon, cheese and avocado served on toasted Texas toast...mmmmm. Â And the sweet potato friends were awesome, but I like my fries a little on the softer side. Â Friends was not so impressed with the burger, the patty was huge...guess they like there meat on the thick side around here =). Â
Service was a little slow even though we had several waitresses helping us out. Â Great place to sit back and relax on a beautiful day!
I would recommend Jackie's to anyone that loves a casual place to drink beer, eat good food, play some Golden Tee and enjoy the outdoor seating. Music is typically OK and the food is consistently good but not gourmet. Can get a little smokey in the main area but there other areas that are smoke free.
Review Source:I'm updating this one. Â Jackie has done a lot to improve things. Â The music is pretty much always great now, and the food ain't too shabby either. Â The pizzas are great! Â My one beef is the crawfish - they're always underspiced. Â The lack of saint arnold has been rectified, the current seasonal is now on tap. Â There's still no bombshell blonde, but that is apparently a distributor problem. Â The lone star only in longnecks (and usually none outside!) is kind of lame... but you can't have everything. Â The inside smoking is still pretty nasty. Â All said and done, I wish I could go more often.
Review Source:I tried Jackie's out this week, because I heard the crawfish were good, and because it was gorgeous outside and I wanted to enjoy the nice big patio. Â I was disappointed to find that the patio appeared to be closed at noon on a Monday afternoon, so I decided to dine in. Â The place is huge, so I think it would be great for gatherings among friends. The crawfish were pretty good. Â I also ordered a Philly Cheese steak and sweet potato fries. The Philly was tasty and very messy, just the way I like it. Â However, the waitress dropped off the food and walked outside before I could tell her that I got the wrong fries. Â I was already finished with my sandwich when she returned to check on me. Â When I brought up the fact that I got the wrong fries, she didn't offer to discount my meal even though all but one of the original fries was still on my plate. Â As a former member of the service industry, I assumed that to be common practice. Maybe I have been out too long. Â Overall, I think Jackie's has potential, but they appear to be under-utilizing the great patio.
Review Source:The food is ok, not great. Â The drinks are usually good and the beer is cold. Â If you're expecting something more than your basic Texas roadhouse, you're looking in the wrong place. Â The service can be pretty slow, especially when they have a good band as they seem to be habitually understaffed. Â Also, check your tab, about a third of the time mine has had an error, sometimes in my favor, sometimes in the house's favor. Â And, yes, you are going to get plenty of free cigarette smoke here. Â Get over it. Â (BTW, I don't smoke.) Â One of the best things is the dancing. Â They get some pretty good local rock'n'roll/Motown groups as well as C&W for those who like both kinds of music. Â The crowd generally ranges from 30 to 60+. Â Very easy going. Â I've never seen a fight or been hassled. Â Wear your jeans or your shorts and have some fun.
Review Source:We chose Jackies initially because of the competitive price in boiled crawfish. Â $4.99/lb. Great location, ample parking in a very crowded seafood restaurant.
Walked in and  was able to secure a table by walking around and grabbing it yourself.
Service was commendable considering the amount of customers. Food was hot and we received refills on drinks.Crawfish could have been all medium size but came out 30% baby crays. Still flavorful!
Live music  and dancing, we would have stayed but limited seating by entertainment area.
Biggest drawback for me was the amount of smoking with least amount of vents. I was saddened by the baby 2 tables next to me second hand smoking for an hour.
First time here last night with 3 other adults & 4 kids which was pretty nice that they were able to seat us, considering the place was full because of Mardi Gras weekend.  I actually thought this business  was more of a restaurant than a club/bar, but none the less we stayed to see what this place had to offer with kids in tow. Jackie's is huge from what I could till with multiple entrances leading into the restaurant and a big tiki bar right out front.  The people were definately in good spirits lastnite and there was a buzz in the air with a live band and a few parties going on. The waitress told us when we got there that we should pre order our crawfish because the were almost out and we did which guaranteed us 10lbs.  The crawfish came served in a big stainless steel bowl with corn and potatoes all for 4.99lb, we loved this deal.  And although the crawfish were small they were still pretty good but I thought they could've used more spice. Our kids ordered hamburgers, hot dogs & potatoe soup which were decent but nothing to write home about.  The waitress was really busy and wasn't at her best because of the surge of business but we understood. One more thing the place gets real muddy in the back parking lot because there's no paved concrete just a grassy lot,  but they do have a guy in a four wheel drive golf cart that will pick up and drop off if you want.  My wife already told me she wants to go back without the kids to checkout the bar and dance floor, so we're definately giving this place another visit.
Review Source:We tried this place on Mardi Gras weekend. Â Service was a bit slow but our waitress was awesome - I think they were just understaffed.
I'd have liked to see more crawfish on the menu - the only thing we could find was the crawfish po boy and then off the menu, the waitress told us of a $4.99/lb crawfish/potato/corn deal they were having for the holiday weekend, but standard prices/offerings were absent from the menu.
I had the fish tacos which I didn't much care for, but the fries are phenomenal. Â My brother had the philly cheesesteak which he said was good but that it tasted like it was made with that Rico nacho cheese, you know, the stuff that comes on concession stand nachos. Â My boyfriend had the crawfish po boy, as mentioned above, and it was loaded with fried crawfish. Â He had to take half of it off just so he could eat the thing, and it was great. Â
Overall, the place is HUGE - bigger than it looks from the outside - and it's a bit of an older crowd. Â There was a stage set up for live music, and you can SMOKE INSIDE which is always a plus.
Yes! Â Cajun boiled shrimp w/potato and corn! Â Cold beer and you can smoke inside! Â Check out their website or Facebook page, they really keep it updated.
We also tried the fried catfish which was pretty good, the hush puppies were good. Â I really liked the boiled cajun shrimp. Â They were large and just the right spice!
Lots of space to sit, plenty of TVs, outdoor seating as well...
Going again tonight!
Jackie's Brickhouse was suggested to me by a fellow Yelper, and I am glad I made the drive from Spring!!!
Our entire party, some of which are regulars, had a blast!!! It was definitely a packed house. Our waiter, David, did a great job of checking on us regularly. The band was fantastic & so was the DJ when the band was on break. I really enjoyed the atmosphere & the other patrons were very friendly. Just as I was told, it was definitely a great group of people!!!
I have to admit, there were a couple down sides to Jackie's Brickhouse, which is why I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. It was SUPER HOT!!!! Our waiter David, did explain that they were having problems with the AC. Also, I'm usually a little more than tipsy after 2 beers & 3 shots of Patron back to back. My guess, & other people's guesses was that bc we were sweating so bad, especially me, that all the liquor was going down my throat & out of my pores!!! Ha Ha!! That's probably best since I had such a long drive home.
Last thing, I know when there are large parties they add the tip themselves, which is fine. But out of 8 people, there were 7 separate tabs. I'm glad I noticed that each ticket already had a tip on it, bc my cousin & her husband's tab would've had a $60 tip on a little over a $100 tab. So if you plan on going to Jackie's, be sure to look over your ticket. The smallest tab of the group was $24 & there was a $3.68 (may be a few pennies off) tip added.
Over all, our waiter David, kept us laughing with his constant jokes!!! Loved it!!! I am thinking it was an off night due to the AC, but I will definitely be going back in the future!!!!
The food is ok...$1 sliders on Thursdays are good. Â Variety of bands play there. Â Personally have enjoyed all so far. Â Service is slow (unless your a regular and can spot where the good waitresses are ;) . Â Only major drawback for me is the smoke. Â Unless you want to smell like a brewery when you leave either go for early dinner or eat outside (where service is REALLY slow). Â
Great evening atmosphere. Â No kids after 9 or 10.
The food is ok. Just ok. The beer is a little warm out of the tap. Oysters are fresh. On the night we went, they had a band. The band was absolutely horrible. I can't even describe what is happening right now as I type this review on my iPhone. It is as if they picked four random dudes from the dining area to play. They butchered every song possible. So for that - Jackies gets knocked down a star.
Review Source:Met up with a friend for lunch & we decided on the crawfish...now since I have been craving this for the longest I have to say my expectations were pretty high. I also order the boudain balls which were great! The crawfish we kind of smaller then what I would have liked, but the spicy ness of them where real good, so that I ordered another pound. I enjoyed being able to sit outside & east them and the staff was nice.
Review Source:Food was ok (crawfish and shrimp and dirty rice were too salty). Server was helpful and funny. I'm only a visitor to Houston, but this place seems just like the ~3 other crawfish/creole style restaurant that I've eaten at in Houston in the past decade. Nothing I would write home about, but a local may appreciate the restaurant more than me.
