This restaurant is clearly in the running for the crown of chinese food, but falls short in this college town. It's a little difficult to find as it is tucked away on a road behind the mall, but the signage outside assures you wont miss it easily.
I went with one of their featured chicken items, the orange zest chicken, which is suppose to offer a sweet zesty flavor on top of chunks of fried chicken. In reality I ended up with some over-fried pieces of chicken smothered in the overly sweet and not enough spice sauce with not even a hint of orange. There is no shortage in quantity as you'll get a heaping portion regardless if you select the small or large option. The chicken was served with a choice of white or brown rice. It wasn't the freshest rice, but it hadn't turned to an over-warmed rubbery mess either.
I ordered take out, but the restaurant has lots of seating options available. The staff is limited as they had one person working the register and handling take out orders and maybe one person checking on the patrons dining in. After I had ordered the woman working the register never returned from the kitchen until my food was ready. This was great for me, but the other people who wanted to pay their bill had to wait, so there are some gaps in the service.
The parking lot is ample although some of the spots can be a trap, meaning easy to pull in, but difficult to get out of. Otherwise there is lots of parking and you wont have to walk far to the door.
Came here with a friend who had enjoyed it in the past. I've been to China, so what am I going to say about an American Chinese restaurant? Not much. The decor was beautiful. The service was good. It was quiet and peaceful in there. The food? Satisfying. Sure, I'd go there again! Oh, and it's reasonable.
Review Source:This restaurant is the best kept secret in Terre Haute. Â It retains a loyal, if relatively small, following. Â I have yet to meet someone who does not like the food. Â Everyone who mentions it, loves it. Â My only explanation for the lack of a crowd is the out of the way location, behind the mall.
The food is always great.  The staff is always friendly and usually recognizes repeat customers.  The only down side is that they usually only have two to three waiters at a time and if they get hit with a crowd they are not expecting, you may need to wait a bit for service.  The wait is usually short and worth it.  They have two semi-private  rooms available so it is a good place to plan a group party.
The lunch menu is a bargain at under $7. Â No buffet here, hot and prepared fresh. Â Dinner is a little more expensive, but is never a disappointment. Â They also have a buffet on the weekends, but I have never made it in while it was open.
Easily one of my top 5 places to eat.
Do yourself a favor and order the Hot and Sour soup. Â Beware, depending on who made the soup that day, it may have some kick. Â I have yet to have better. Â I also enjoy the Empress Chicken and Chicken Lo Mein.
A decent selection of imported wine and beer is on hand.
Don't expect a P.F. Chang atmosphere. Â This is a quiet, family run, restaurant. Â Great for lunch meetings, dates, and family dinner.
