The three-stars is a good thing, and not punitive, I promise.

Certainly not my favorite dive (although the closest to me) but it makes for a good time generally. It's just not my "scene" I guess. Everyone is friendly enough, but I never feel 100% a part of it. Maybe it's the big RAIDERS sign on the wall.

Drinks get a good pour and staff has always been friendly and attentive. I want to love it more, but I just can't. Maybe a few more trips.

How sad that I've been coming here on and off for like 6 years and have never written a review!
This hole in the wall bar is great! They have karaoke here on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and I think Sunday. They serve strong drinks at an AMAZING price!! Eddie the bartender is super friendly and funny and recommends good drinks when you're undecided. They have tacos and nachos here and I love the nachos (I get them with no meat though). There are regulars here (duh I was one of them!) that are friendly and this isn't a dress to impress bar which is cool. In fact if you're all dressed up people kinda give you an odd look LoL! Everyone here is kick back and nobody talks nonsense when you sing karaoke and aren't the best singer ha ha. And the owner Jaime comes in at times which is nice. Oh yeah, they're gonna have shirts soon and yours truly is a proud owner of one :)

spent my sisters bday here and will come back here again.

they have really good chicken quesadillas there. like really good. its a small place. like a blend of sports and dive. they are stuntin' the LA DODGERS ALL OVER. and i love it.

they are pretty cheap. i bought well over 10 drinks and my total was only 29 dollars. they have 2 pool tables darts and a jukebox. the staff is super nice and the locals are always there and theyre super nice. they also got karaoake but dont touch the dj's laptop. he will kick you out. or threaten to anyways. karaokae aint my bag.

the best part about this place is the atmosphere. everyone is happy and the drinks are good. check it out if youre in the area. i like my bars dirty and cheap so maybe not if youre too cool or like spending an arm and a leg. it can get kinda crowded since its so small, so be warned,

Came here on sat night. not sure what to expect. we walked in and had a seat at the bar. small place but didn't seem crowded.nice friendly atmosphere. kareoke was fun. ordered drinks, some tacos and nachos. the tacos were good but the nachos were great! then we somehow had shots in front of us and the rest of the night was great. our bartender eddie was great. funny guy. He looks like a small version of "Machete"  i would definitely come back again. The prices were extremely reasonable. Overall, a great time.

Serves cheap drinks and excellent tacos after consuming large amounts of previously mentioned cheap drinks.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS AT JAIMES!! If you want strong and inexpensive drinks along with a hot bartender than go here!! It is a classic dive bar, with nice and fun regulars. Bartender on wednesdays is gorgeous and pours a nice drink!. pool table and dart board. cheap yet delicious tacos along with nachos and quesadillas. Small but cozy place, I truly recommend jaimes sports bar. Especially on wednesdays!

This is pretty much your average dive bar, frequented by locals. The bartender was very friendly, as were all the people here who had no issues with chatting us up. There are two pool tables, a dart board, and karaoke. Drinks are cheap and not particularly strong, but I'd rather pay $8 for two drinks than $10+ for one. We ordered the nachos which came in a huuuge plate with a disgustingly delicious amount of cheese, as well as some tacos, which were small but tasty, and cheap at $1.25 each. A plus for non-smokers - they don't allow smoking inside.

A local watering hole with cheap drinks. Met up with a friend here for drinks on a friday night. got here around 10:30 and there was still some seats at the bar. Not sure what can be said? its a casual place thats basically a neighborhood bar. I felt comfortable and  felt welcome the whole time I was here. Bartender was a pretty nice guy, but pours a weak vodka tonic. Its pretty small and there are a couple of pool tables and some tables to sit at. Its fine if you live in the area.

Looking for a cheap nice low key place to get your buzz on? Jaime's will deliver! The bartenders are really nice and there's usually a nice crowd of people there.

The beer is super cheap and best of all they serve food until 1am!!! The $1 tacos are awesome to help you sober up after you've have a dozen beers because they were so cheap!

Two pool tables and a juke box, what more could you ask for? I definitely recommend this place@!!!!

If you want to get a quick buzz from your drinks, this is the place for you. The ratio of alcohol to mix is 90:10. Awesome. If you want to sing along and watch sports at the same time, this is the place for you. This is just not a regular sports bar because they have a menu too. What's in the menu? Fried chicken nuggets, fries and nachos which are perfect for a drinking bar. I highly recommend this place. You may even get a harmonica karaoke singer too.

I will start my YELP with a HAIKU...

    Oh, Jaime's Sports Bar
Your cheap thrills make me go weeeee
    That's the booze talking

Enough of my top notch freestyle Haikus...

Jaime's has taught me what the TRUE dive bar experience should be. Don't let the store front fool you... You'll be in for a good time any night of the week. What makes this bar so special is not the inexpensive drink specials or the flat screen tvs. What makes this place a gem are the patrons  that will make you feel as if you had a whole new set of friends waiting for you at Jaime's

The bartenders are warm, lively and the drinks they make for you will be even more generous. Rack up some balls for pool, test you aim at electronic darts, and even belt out your high notes in singing "Loving you" for karaoke night. There is a small kitchen that showcases a bare bones menu to supplement your drunken evening.

It's very standard in amenities and minimalist in appearance. Yet, to those who frequent this bar will all agree, there is something much more that keeps us all coming back for another round...

A bouncer from a different bar actually told me about this place so I went in to try it.  I like dive bars rather than the club scene and when I tried this place, it was love at 1st drink!!  The bartenders make the drinks well & they're not over priced.  I hate paying $7 for coke with a splash of rum.
Dart board & 2 Pool Tables with a decent Juke Box.  Karaoke Thurs-Sun is interesting, some really good singers & some you smile at.  The kitchen makes BOMB tacos & nachos!!!!  All the customers & bartenders are friendly.  What more could you ask for in a Dive Bar?  Definitley my local favorite!!!

Well, I am now falling asleep at my desk at work today. I am now  I am wondering what I was thinking staying out so late on a "school" night. I amd thinking an intervention is probably needed.

So i guess that means Jaime's was good last night. My tastebuds tell me that the soft tacos were really good.

My pillow calls out to me longingly.

A gay bar masquerading as a sports bar

I have nothing against gay people, but this really isn't a sports bar.

They hardly have any TV's and a poor selection of drinks.

This place was better in previous incarnations.

After stuffing my face with turkey and pumpkin pie.. I was in needs of good company and a stiff, relaxing drink.  I got a last min invite from my sis who was already there taking on the online jukebox so I decided to head out solo.  What harm right?

When I walked in I thought, "this it?" There was my sis n her friends and a small group of locals.  Intimate, yes.  Divey-quite so!  My gin gimlet was pretty strong and the tunes kept on rockin.  Last call was soon approaching & right when I was gna order my "on-for the road" the bartender says "everyone, last round is on the bar!" --- ahhh yeah, dats what's I'm talking bout'... Overall, friendly & super chill staff, very divey, 2 pool tables, a dart board, and an online jukebox... I guess you can hit this up if you're about to head out the the microbrew, that's basically all.

*dj is playing mashups with house music*

boy:  dude, tell me you understand the music that they're playing in there!  i feel like we need some glow sticks!
me:  yes, i've had my raver phase.  *starts doin my glowstick dance*
boy:  yea!  you know what i'm talkin about!
me:  i haven't been in a very long time.
boy:  you should come out to the new year's one!  i can hook it up with VIP tickets!  free drinks dude!  pop a couple of pills...you'll be straight!
me:  i don't do that anymore.
boy:  well then free drinks dude!  just get totally trashed!
me:  hmm i don't think so.
boy:  come on!  it'll be fun!  let's go for new year's!
me:  dude.  i don't even know you.
boy:  well i would really love to get to know you.
    me:  ....
boy:  look... i may be really drunk right now... actually i am really drunk right now...but i would really love to take you out sometime and get to know you.
me:  *reaches out hand*  it was nice to meet you.
    boy: .....

    typical dive bar conversation.....right??!?

it's a cool little bar.  and just like the other reviewer, i would say " yes, i'm with the dj"  my friend spins here every thursday night.  beer is super cheap!  $8 for two fat tires!!!  my weak self was buzzin!  they serve food too.  tacos!  any kind of meat. $1.25.  my friend ordered some carne asada tacos and i couldn't resist and had to steal a couple of his.

overall vibe of the place is pretty cool.  there's street parking...even tho it says "no parking anytime"... the owner says its cool to park there.  there's also parking in the back..or you can do what i did and park at the pet's delights down the street.

So, Jaime's Sports Bar is definitely a "dive" bar... but if you go into the place knowing what it is and expecting nothing more, then this place definitely deserves the 4 stars!

Jaime's Sports Bar is located in an area of Monrovia where you wouldn't expect to see anything but stores and restaurants - no one would expect to see this sports bar anywhere near the area. Parking is pretty scarce - you'll either have to park on the street or find an empty parking lot for another store to keep your car.  It's a small bar in which the bar is located immediately to your right as you walk in, further down you'll pass the dart board and then a couple of pool tables.  The great thing about the place is that the drinks that they serve are at GREAT prices! For instance - a vodka cran and a redbull vodka together, less than $10!! What beats that?!?!

The best thing about the place is that on some Thursday nights they have a DJ that plays.  He plays all of my favorite music - old school hip hop, today's hip hop and tons of R&B! Can't get enough!!

    Yes, "I'm with the DJ!"

I can't complain. We came here the other night to support our friend who spun his music there. Your typical dive bar. Upon entering, the bartender will look at you with inquisitive eyes to make sure your over 21. (Sorry to the underaged, you're not allowed in) ID's are checked and immediately asked "What'll it be?" I started off with a Corona and lime. Our other friends opted for mixed drinks. This Sports Bar doesn't have curb appeal. Neon lights, dull paint and the door..well, it's heavier than your mother. It's the kind of bar where you'd find good ol' regulars. Even on a Thursday night! The place offers Darts, (2) Pool tables and Karaoke. And yes, we did play! Quite hilarious seeing darts fly off the board and into the bar area. Oops! I did notice a small window near the pool area. It's the kitchen. You will find a menu hanging on the wall, if you get hungry - here it is! They offer nachos and quesadillas,  finger food type of dishes for a small amount.

We hung out, talked, laughed and felt like we were in college again. It was a great night. The music was dope too! Thanks to our friend the DJ. We pretty much packed the house that night. The drinks totaled to a ridiculous amount too. Ridiculously INEXPEN$IVE! That's right, drinks were cheap compared to your typical bar out in Hollywood. Oy vay! A majority of us wouldn't mind coming back to this joint. It was a relaxing night, filled with booze and my best buds! What else can you ask for?

To define what 'dive bar' is....Jamie's Sports Bar.

Gee, I thought I would be the first to review this place, someone actually beat me too it.

Well, here is my review, and yes, I spent 5+ hours there, I walked....

So, happy hour until 7 pm, not bad, 3 bucks domestics, 3.50 wells and imports.

Yes, they have two, that is right two, pool tables, and one dartboard, but the plastic tip kind, I guess it is not safe for the real thing?

Some TV's, Ms. Pac Man, a Bar top game and an Internet connected jukebox.

So, why do I go there you may ask?  Well, it was due to the rain, no golf for a buddy and I.  It was close; we walked there from where we lived.

Nice bartender met some cool people, food was okay, but we ate at 9pm after showing up around 6 or so, drinking and all that.

And then came the karaoke, wow, good thing we all had drinks.

So, bottom line, if you want a decent dive bar to drink at, that does not cost that much, go to Jamie's Sports Bar.

As for the sports, I think it was when my friend tried to run out the door with a open container and got tackled before he made one step out on the street.....that is another story to go in the talk section here on yelp...

    It is what it is.

A dive bar with a couple of pool tables and a desperate attempt at having karaoke. The drinks were cheap all night long, as was the Mexican food. The food definitely smelled good though I didn't try it.
