First time I went here I ordered a Reuben and it was amazing. I was craving it again today so I decided to head over here and grab another one. This one was good as well, but unfortunately it gave me food poisoning. My stomach was feeling queasy all day after I ate it until I finally puked it all out (sorry for the unappetizing image).
Food is good, but eat at your own risk. I'm not sure employees here follow standards of safety when handling food.
Always wanted to try out this place because I heard many good things about this deli and I must say I definitely agree with what I've heard! I had the Mediterranean wrap with steamed veggies  as my side and it was delicious and healthy and fulling! Of course I could not resist the free soft serve ice cream either! Place was very clean and had a good flow of customers around dinner time. Will definitely go back again and have the impressive looking garden salad bar!
Review Source:I have nothing negative to say about this place... maybe I just know what to order here.
1. Â Their baked potatoes are BIGGER THAN YOUR FACE!!! Â Now, I understand that this is a commonality for burritos, but as a hardcore Irish chick, potatoes this large are super AMAZING!! Â Baked potatoes doused with cheese, butter, sour cream, and broccoli sounds like a clogged artery, but makes me wish that I could buy chapstick flavored like loaded baked potato.
2. Â THE SALAD BAR = GREAT. Â Load me up on those fresh fruits n' veggies! Â And the potato salad is pretty great, too. ;)
3. Â As if you aren't full enough after eating your main course, there is free soft serve ice cream... a perfect lure to get your unruly children to behave.
we have frequented Jason's since it opened at this location. Â Hits and misses. Â the problem is employee and manager turnover. Â When they have a good manager on duty things go well. When no one is running the restaurant there is no consistency. Â I have often watched new product placed on top of old product at the buffet which is not following the "first in first out" sanitation principle they should be following. Â We were there the other evening for a late evening meal and they were breaking down the salad bar because it was closing time. Â One of the employees was using her hands to clear and store the salad buffet items, TOUCHING ALL THE FOOD WITHOUT PLASTIC GLOVES! Â I actually got up and shouted "you cannot do that. Â You need gloves!!" Â One of the other employees told her to stop and throw out the lettuce but she was throwing out the bag of lettuce all of which had probably not been touched but ok throw that out too. What she had touched went into the bins for service! Â So I asked for the manager and he came out and said that the lettuce would be thrown out. Â I asked why this is going on anyway and he said she was new and was being trained. Â Being trained by who?? Â What standards? Â This should have been an easy one. Â Do not touch the food with bare hands!!! Â They have no current training program - that is obvious from the other night! Â We have had a love hate relationship since Jason's Deli's opening. Â We love the concept of fresh food but it always comes at a price - not the right ingredients in the preparation of the menu items, turned product, and now blatant disregard for sanitation standards. Â We will not be going back. Â This manager was not competent and I doubt he had a sanitation license. Â I regret that I didn't ask if he or someone on site had a license which is required by law. Â Definitely a place that should be inspected!!
Review Source:We came here for a quick dinner before our movie. I had their salad bar and my husband ordered one of their royale sandwiches. I also ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and he had a bowl of broccoli cheddar. We liked that they have so many different soup options. Pretty awesome we weren't restricted to two kinds of soups and a soup of the day.
Anyway my salad bar was like any other salad bar. They have a good variations of greens and veggies to add. There were limited selection of the pasta salads that I normally find at salad bars, but it's alright. My husband's sandwich was okay too. We always like Jason's Deli, but this time it was just an average but we don't want to give it a bad rating. Food is still good. Although both our soups were pretty salty.
I've only tried their Reuben, so my review is based solely on that sandwich as well as the salad bar and fruit.
Everytime I crave a Reuben sandwich, I head straight to Jason's Deli. It's a HUMONGOUS sandwich with plenty of corned beef and sauerkraut that are stacked a mile high on rye bread with Russian dressing. A half sandwich is more than enough to satisfy my appetite, especially since I like to get a side of fruit or salad with the sandwich instead of the potato chips. Â They serve this yogurt sauce with the fruit which is absolutely delicious and is the perfect dip. Â You make your own salad from the salad bar, which is piled with almost everything you can think of that you want in a salad (no meat products except bacon bits). Â
Best part? FREE soft serve ice-cream! YUM.
Side note, my husband absolutely LOVES their California club and says it's the best club sandwich he's had.
We were out running errands around Roosevelt Road and decided to eat first. Â On foot because of taking the bus, and we saw a sign for Subway near the Dominics strip mall so we walked in that direction. Â As we got closer we talked about other potential choices, what are we in the mood to eat, etc. and actually walked past Subway to see if there was anything else interesting, and guess what, we found a Jason's Deli on the end! Â Both of us are fond of Jason's Deli in other states so we knew what to expect.
Delicious and satisfying sandwiches. Â I did the half sandwich and soup combo called the Manager's Special, and she ordered the chicken salad on a croissant. Â They give you a number to put on your table, and after you get your drinks and sit down, a server will come by soon to deliver your food personally. Â My club royale hit the spot, and I enjoyed the spicy gumbo with shrimp, rice, vegetables. Â Her croissant was flaky the way she likes it, not stale or soggy.
I did not know about the free ice cream, but if that isn't enough of a reason to return soon just take a look at the menu. Â We saw a wide variety of interesting things that will keep us busy for a while. Â And if you want to take your drink with you, just ask for a to go cup. Â Simple.
I'm not sure why, but I had always though Jason's deli was simply a sandwich place, similar to Subway's or Quiznos. Â But its so much more than that!! The place reminds me more of Panera in that they offer a sit down restaurant to eat their soups, salads, and sandwiches. Â They even offer a salad bar and soft served ice cream!
I had told the lady at the cashier that it was my first time at Jason's and I had no idea where to start when it came to ordering my food. Â The lady was very nice and offered me a menu and told me how to to order. Â I ordered the California Club which is Oven roasted turkey breast, guacamole, tomato, bacon, Swiss, mayo on toasted all butter croissant. They offered the sandwich with my choice of fruit, baked chips or steamed veggies. Â I went with the steamed veggies which was a mix of broccoli, cauliflower, and organic carrots. Â Both the sandwich and the steamed veggies were delicious.
The best part of the process was the waiting because I was allowed to eat free soft served ice cream on a cone while I waited. Â I'm a such a sucker of soft served ice cream and its even better when its free. I am definitely coming back here!
Really hate dissing places, I look for something, SOMETHING positive to mention. Â This is the only thing I can say: Â the fact that I waited 20 minutes for 1 takeout sandwich when I was the only person ordering and waiting when I got there seemed to embarass the girl who took my order. Â So she finally asked the sandwich makers about it and apologized for the wait. Â Thanks for that.
Ordered the Santa Fe Chicken and couldn't be more cranky when I got it home and looked at it after that abysmal wait. Â Small piece of chicken, barely any Russian dressing, flabby bacon, oh it was just disgusting, had to toss most of it. Â And it wasn't cheap. Â Maybe there are other better things on the menu, and better service if you dine in, but I won't try it again to find out. Â No matter how hung over I am (and I was).
We were out & about in our neighborhood and needed to grab lunch but didn't want to do the typical Potbelly/Panera. Â We came across Jason's Deli which was in the same shopping center as a Dominicks. Â I wasn't expecting much.
When we walked in we could not figure out the ordering process. I do not like this.  I haven't returned to a Baja Fresh for this very reason. Two registers up front which were labeled for take out and online orders but nothing pointing you to order for eating in. There's a big menu board behind the two registers which had a few items on it. Once we figured out you need to walk down to the lone register by the salad bar to order for dine in, we found a much bigger menu. I choose the California club with steamed veggies and my partner had the chicken panini. My club was very good, although there was more bacon on one half of the sandwich than the other and I would have  liked a few more green veggies than carrots in my side but it was still an excellent sandwich.  The croissant was incredibly flakey!  Partner loved his panini. We both were pleasantly surprised by out entire meal.  We didn't try to the free soft serve but we both thought it was a cute idea.
Overall, it was a very good lunch in a nice atmosphere that made you forgot you were eating a Dominick's shopping center.
I'd eaten here once before with a friend over 3 years ago and remembered that the food was pretty good, if pricey. Â So I stopped in for lunch today. Â The restaurant was about half full. Â At the entrance there was a sign directing people who wished to place orders for carry-out, but nothing instructing customers who wished to dine there.
There was one employee talking to a couple in Spanish at the door, but when the conversation was over she disappeared. Â I seated myself at a table and waited for about 3 minutes. Â No one approached me. Â Then I saw a customer at a register by the salad bar. Â It reminded me that I thought you placed your order, paid for it, and then were given a number so that a server could bring it to you when ready. Â
So I got up and went to the register, but the employee had disappeared. I waited there for about one minute, but again no one approached me so I walked out. Â In this economy it really ought not be that difficult to spend money in a restaurant. Â Will never be back
Very Delicious!!! I've been wanting to try this place for the longest. Today I found out they had a salad bar and I was soooooo excited. However I ended up ordering a taco salad which had the works, blue corn tortilla chips, chili, salsa, fresh guacamole, sour cream and cheese...it was so good!!! My honey had some turkey bacon club or something on a croissant, he loved it. And to top it off they have free ice cream with your meal, so that really put the icing on our experience. We will definitely return through out the summer.
Review Source:If your looking for a fast food joint, such as McDonald's, then this place is not for you. It's for those health conscious people who likes to eat healthy at a reasonable price, which a typical meal averages about $9.
I always come to this place when I need to replenish my carbs and proteins after a hard workout session from the gym. They have great food, fast and friendly service, and the place is clean.
I normally order the pasta, but the panini sandwiches are really good too. Also, they have free soft serve ice cream! I can never say no to that every time I finish my meal.
Two words: SALAD BAR.
On Thursdays, my roommate and I take a Boot Camp fitness class at the rec, which is basically an hour of legal torture done by an overenthusiastic lady in bright spandex. After each class, we swear off all junk food and sodas for the next 24 hours, and then the pain goes away and we're back to our normal, college-kid diets.
This place is our perfect Thursday dinner spot. The first time we came, we stood awkwardly at the front of the store and waited to be seated for a good 10 minutes. Neither of us had dined-in before, so we didn't know that they had a separate register in the back for salad bar customers. Oops.
One of their waiters noticed us making awkward faces and sat us down right in front of the salad bar. And what a beautiful salad bar it was. It's about half the length of the one at Sweet Tomatoes (the mother of all salads) which is more than enough variety. Their red pepper hummus is the greatest! Another plus is that they have TWO containers of cherry tomatoes. I probably eat more tomatoes than anyone should, and I was really excited to see someone refilling the containers every 10ish minutes.
You can get a bowl of soup on the side for only $0.99. I'm a big fan of the vegetarian tomato basil while my roommate loves the vegetarian french onion.
For dessert, there's chocolate mousse, cottage cheese, fruit salad, and mini muffins (corn and chocolate). There's also free ice cream by the drinks station but usually we hate ourselves too much / are in too much pain to eat it on Thursdays :P
On your way out, grab a couple lollipops! THEY'RE ORGANIC. I shamelessly take a handful each time.
Ordered delivery for a group of us at work.
Online ordering is easy. All the options and special notes are available to enter (no pickle, light mayo etc etc) so that was nice.
The deli called me after i ordered online to ask a question about the order. Â Very friendly on the phone.
I had the chicken club salad and it was just eh. Â The avocado was brown and sparse. The whole salad just didn't have much flavor.
Another coworker had the taco salad and said the chicken chili was great and made the salad.
The general consensus from the group was the food was just "okay."
I like having the option of healthy sandwich/salad/wrap delivery for lunch instead of the usual greasy options so maybe I'll give them another try.
They didn't do a great job catering a company lunch (some missing items, and several people felt it was kind of crappy, myself included) but to their credit everything was properly labeled.
On a subsequent in-store visit, I really enjoyed the salad bar and, of course, the soft serve. Pleasant staff, at any rate.
*GLUTEN FREE RESTAURANT HAPPY TIME ALERT*
*FREE ICE CREAM HAPPY TIME ALERT*
I discovered this place and had a good meal. And there is a FREE SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM MACHINE. I am also gluten free. I see some reviewers had bad experiences so I will keep that in mind, because I do know that at times restaurant staffers do not take Gluten Free allergies seriously. But we had excellent service too, so I am happy. And there is FREE ICE CREAM.
Worst Jason's Deli I've ever experienced
From the staff to the portions this Jason's deli is simply not uniform or representative of the greatness that Jason's deli has come to be in my heart. I went to college in Austin, TX which is one of the early homes of this great franchise - so I know JD. I have been to the ones in Schaumburg, Oakbrook, and Park Ridge - all of them are impeccable and delicious. For some reason this one has horrible staff, subpar ingredients, terrible ambiance, and overall poor quality compared to all other Jason's Delis. I am truly disappointed.
People kept telling me to go to Jason's Deli. Meh. I got there, brought a friend who mentioned she was at one too. At one? There's no Jason? This is a chain? There are competing delis within a short walk, so I guess the bar was higher than if this were some suburban mall food court.
I had the only Reuben on the planet that didn't have Thousand Island dressing slathering all over it. Meh.
Free ice cream! OK, leave 'em happy.
My like of this place was totally unexpected. Â I ordered a Mediterranean wrap/tortilla soup and my husband had the chicken salad wrap. I really appreciate the healthy eating menu, which is where we ordered from. Â Both wraps were really good; my husband's had pineapple mixed in which actually gave his wrap a good taste. Â My favorite aspect of the meal was that you can get fresh vegetables as a side! Â And these were no dried out, days old veggies; Â they were steamed and fresher than I've had at some expensive restaurants. Â
Enjoyed the relatively comfortable atmosphere (plenty of booths!) and the free ice cream, although my husband thinks the ice cream is a negative as he "ruined" a perfectly healthy meal with TWO ice cream cones. Â Overall, a good casual fast food restaurant with many healthy choices.
If I lived or worked closer, I could see myself eating here multiple times a week...and it's not just because of the free ice cream [which is a HUGE plus].
I wasn't sure what to expect with Jason's Deli. I mean, a solid four stars on almost one hundred reviews? I thought to myself, "it's just a deli, right??" But hey, the place is spacious. It's cozy. The music puts me in a good mood. The staff is amazing [we'll get to that a little more]. Â The food is fresh, tasty, and perfectly portioned. And there's ice cream, which I ate to start and end my meal.
It was my our [the gf and I] first time at Jason's and we weren't sure what to order, so we asked a number of questions to the young fella taking our order. My girlfriend asked about the muffalettas and he gave the perfect description and the type of people who order them: olive lovers. He said you really gotta love olives...and she doesn't. So she opted for the grilled portobello wrapini. She enjoyed it, but said that it wasn't anything to write home about...I ordered the Chicago Club which has a lot of familiar flavors [turkey, bacon, spinach, tomatoes]. It was delish. I would order this all the time.
We almost ordered a baked potato...almost. The young man told us that it could take 25 minutes to make [which was nice of him]. He even offered a soup on the house if we wanted something else while we waited for the potato. Super nice guy. Some of the best customer service I've received recently.
I guess this is where I talk about ice cream. I love free ice cream. I mean, they've got chocolate, vanilla, and swirl. Nothing special. But they've got those little cones that bring back childhood memories. Plus, you can have as much as you'd like.
Much more spacious than what I expected. Got myself a chicken salad and when it was brought out to me, they gave me an empty cup for the dressing. Yes, you have to get your own dressing after you've gotten all comfortable at your table. How about having the cashier ask what type of dressing we want, or just give us the cup right after we order? Come on, let's be efficient here. Time is money.
The food is healthy, but nothing spectacular. However, you do get a free ice cream cone. I don't have much of a sweet tooth so it doesn't help this review. Sorry. Haha.
Woo hoo...parking!!! Okay, aside from having parking which rates for a least a star when coming to Chicago restaurants, the food is pretty good too.
Yes it's a chain, I used to go to Manny's all the time and still do since they have parking, but since Manny's has gotten all cult like and they've gotten pricey, I've been going to Jason's.
I love the salad bar, I love that you can buy a one trip salad bar it's really all I need with a cup of soup. Because this place is reasonable and has free ice cream, it does attract couples with kids. However, since the dining room is large you can find a spot that is quieter if you're alone and want to read.
This is one of the places I feel comfortable coming to alone, since it's cafeteria style I don't feel like I'm wasting a servers time or table for just one.
I like that they're paying attention to the environment, the rest room has the lighting on a sensor, motion sensor faucets, and toilets with the option of flow for liquid or solid waste. They also keep them clean!
Jason's Deli is seriously, honestly and truly my lunchtime savior. Â With no real fresh lunch options around me (ok, there's Subway, but....yeah.) Jason's is a godsend. Â Here's why I love it so much:
+Jason's is a good 10 minute drive from my job, so thankfully they deliver. Â However, their delivery fee is pretty hefty at $7! Â
+Luckily, if you work at a school or other non-for-profit, Jason's waives the delivery fee! Â Just make sure to tell them ahead of time! Â
+Also tell 'em if you're tax exempt - they do not charge you tax! Â Sweet! Â
+If you order for a large group, they package the orders up in individual bags AND label what's in 'em! Â What a great idea!
+The food is GOOD. Â Like, fresh ingredients, tasty combinations, LOTS to choose from. Â My coworkers and I have looked through that menu many times and still wrestle with what to order. Â
+My favorite? Â Either the Ranchero Wrap or Chicken Panini! Â I always like getting fruit as my side, but the chips/chips and salsa are always good, too.
+Build-your-own sandwich option. Â It's like Subway, but with frou-frou items. Â
+If you're not feelin' sandwiches, they also have soup, pasta, baked potatoes and salads! Â
+Be sure to order early if you want the food around lunchtime. Â Like, 10am. Â No, seriously. Â They get busy!
+Always friendly service and, for the most part, accurate orders! Â
Another South Loop win!
I stumbled across this place one evening after work looking for something different. When I stepped inside the word ORGANIC jumped out at me. A sandwich joint with organic veggies. WOW! Â I ordered a muffletta-the veggaletta to be exact and it was simply scrumptious!
So you are probably wondering why only one star. Well, my friend and I were so impressed we ordered take out two days later. I had the exact same item the veggaletta muffletta (as featured on the "Food Network" is a slogan they have). I took one bite and immediately felt my throat close!
OMG!!!
The only food allergy I have is peanuts. So I re-read the ingredients and have my friend call the manager Adam to find out what could have possibly happened. He essentially kept repeating, "Peanut-butter is stored separate from other items." Â Well someone there must have cut a peanut butter sandwich with the same bloody knife as the veggaletta." After explaining that I am only allergic to peanut products.
Adam squeeks out a, "Sorry." But offers no refund, or nothing! I would not go back there, unless I have a death wish!
Had it been a child who has less of an immune system and had my allergy to peanuts, they may have not survived this unsuspected peanut planting in the food. Ugh,
So, if anyone has an allergy to peanuts.....BEWARE of Jason's Deli - especially in the South Loop!!! Â They must not take special precaution in cross contamination of their peanut products--organic or otherwise! Not worth a trip to the Emergency room!
I always eye this place when I'm going grocery shopping, but usually when I'm grocery shopping I don't need lunch. Â Today, I had a hungry tummy and a hungry boyfriend in tow and we could not wait to eat. Â It was a dire emergency. Â Jason's Deli to the rescue. Â
The lack of menu board and the myriad of ordering/pickup stations could indeed be a serious clusterfuck, but the girl behind the counter asked us if we were eating in and if we needed menus, then told us how to navigate.
The chicken panini was delish, and the chicken was flavorful and moist. Â The real winner for me was the vegetarian French onion soup, though. Â It was amazing, and gives me hope that I can make a veggie French onion to tickle my companion's tastebuds. Â He was less enthused about his wrap, but seemed intrigued by the salad bar. Â I was eyeing and attempting to steal the gingerbread muffins... not that I would do that... ever...
Free ice cream=yay. Â
The one downer is that there were tons of unbussed tables and it was not crowded at all. Â Clean it up, guys, or have people bus their own tables.
I've frequented Dominicks' for years and have never thought to stop at Jason's Deli in the adjacent plaza. To me, the imagery that comes to mind is cold cut sandwiches. Bleh!
But au contraire, mon frere, I was pleasantly surprised. It was at the suggestion of another mom at my son's daycare that we take the boys to dinner. I shall add Jason and his Deli to my quick meal repertoire.
It's a pretty spacious, no frills kinda place that is kid-friendly and you all can eat good food for cheap. Â Works for me. I had the portabello pasta w/grilled chicken and spinach. Would've sopped up every last bit in the big bowl had I had some bread.
They have a healthy kids menu with more choices than the usual chicken fingers, which was nice. It includes a side item and a drink at a low cost. Let's not forget that there's free icecream--always! I don't know if that was organic too, but it was good stuff!
I am certainly not a calorie counter nor do I use restraint when it comes to food, but I did notice that everything tasted fresh, a lot on the menu is organic and they give you the calorie/fat/sodium serving information.
Believe it or not, I am a bit of a health freak.
And here's why I love Jason's Deli.
+ Nutrition information on their menu.
+ No high fructose corn syrup
+ No MSG
+ Whole wheat options
+ Tons of vegetarian options.
+ Parking
I had their Spinach wrap with some steamed vegetables, and it was very good. I will definitely be back!
Don't.  Bother.  When driving past the South Loop looking for a solid meal, I spotted three places: Subway, Domino's and Jason's Deli.  Either of the first two would've been much preferred.  My boyfriend's  six-bite "Chicago Club" for $7 was about the size of an iPod.  An IPOD! Cosi would never do this to me. Neither would Potbelly's. Hell, even Subway is above an iPod sized sandwich.
The stinginess was not limited to his order alone. Â
Here's the thing... when I order a portobello vegetable wrapini, I EXPECT IT TO BE MORE THAN HALF-FILLED. Â And chips are mandatory if you order a sandwich, which as someone who never orders them, is a letdown. Â When asked if I could substitute the chips for any number of other sides (slaw, cookies, fruit etc.), they would NOT let me substitute, even if I pay the cost difference. Â What the hell? Â
Thanks, Jason, but I won't be back.
As much as I dislike chains, I have to say, this is a nice surprise! Â Located in my summer go-to area (hello Canal St shopping corridor) Jason's Deli is actually a easy choice with plentiful parking, a large dining room and really fast, efficient and helpful service!
The menu can be a little overwhelming because they essentially offer everything. Â Sometimes its better to tell the order taker what you want and have them figure it out for you. Â If only I had known about the huge salad bar with pretty much everything I love on it! Â That's okay, there were more visits to cover that!
I am a Potato Soup freak and I must say that their version is Yumtastic. Â I've tried a few others and was pleasantly surprised. Â I like the sammies too and generally go with an oven roasted turkey. Â Again, the number of choices is pretty overwhelming so have an idea in your head when you go in or it could be a daunting task. Â Do not go to Jason's if you have trouble making decisions. Â It will send you over the edge.
Their catering menu is HUGE and they do great boxed lunches and catering trays. Â I would have to say its average in the price point but they seemed pretty flexible with customizing my order for a group picnic.
Again, there is no hardworking entrepreneur named Jason with his sleeves all rolled up working overtime and slicing your meat all by his lonesome but its really a decent place for a light lunch on the fly or a delivered luncheon for your work peeps.
I have to admit, This summer My boyfriend and I have been regulars at this joint, and I'm about to tell you why!
Although it's a small chain, I find it has most everything I want for a casual dining experience. Â Conveniently located, Take out or eat-in, a great salad bar, daily specials, and free frozen yogurt. Everyone can find something to like here. Â My favorite is the warm veggie wrap & California club.
The best deal is the manager special, half a sandwich, side (chips or fresh fruit) and add on a side salad from the salad bar (we overload the bowl because with the side salad you are only allowed up to the bar once, however, this is enough for us). Then the free frozen yogurt cone to top it off! All for $8.00! It's a great way to splurge and save at the same time.
Pros: great deals, plenty of healthy selections, never crowded/no wait, eco-friendly (dual flush toilets), salad bar, parking, free frozen yogurt!
Cons: It's very cold here, temperature and atmosphere wise. It's somewhat dark also. I like the big industrial lights, but more lighting would warm the place up.
We will definitely be going back, again and again.
I love the concept behind this restaurant. Â Jason's aims to provide healthier options for fast, convenient dining, at the same time being eco-friendly about it.
What do they have?
-Sandwiches that are CHEAP (there's a $4.85 menu that includes a sandwich and chips (regular, baked, or chips w/ salsa) and DELICIOUS. Â A bargain.
-Super friendly service. Â Yeah, you don't even have to clean up after yourself. Â Panera, are you listening??
-A variety of menu options.. sandwiches, soups, pasta, wraps, pastries, etc. Â You will not go hungry here.
-Eco-friendly toilets. Â Flush up for liquid waste, down for solid waste. Â They don't mess.
-Plenty of seating.
-FREE ICE CREAM. Â Vanilla, chocolate... hey, even the SWIRL is free.
What don't they have?
-MSG
-Trans Fat
-High fructose corn syrup
This is my first 5-star review!
Is Jason's Deli incredibly tasty food, on par with Alinea or Charlie Trotter's? Not that I've eaten at either. But anyhoo, no the food isn't high cuisine. But I tend to rate restaurants based on a taste:price proportion. And in that sense, Jason's Deli gets 5 stars from me.
My receipt came out to $5.56. For that, I got a roast beef wrap with sauteed onions and red peppers and provolone with an au jus dipping sauce and pickle. Also, you get a choice of chips: regular, baked, or tortilla chips with salsa. But the best part... drumroll... FREE SOFT SERVE! I usually stop by McD's for their $1 soft serve. But here, I get a choice between vanilla, chocolate, and swirl. And it's not that crappy soft serve that comes out all icy and drippy.
Add on plenty of free parking, lots of seating, and fast service, and you have a five star rating. I came in with a huge group, and we deluged them with orders. They were very professional and quick and managed to be friendly.
There are plenty of options to eat, so I'll definitely be back to explore more choice. Best $5 I've spent in a while.
No one was in the place but me and one other guy. Â I told them my order, I waited and waited and waited. Â Then they give half my order to the other guy, he leaves. Â Now they can't figure out where my food went?? Â So I have to wait and wait some more. Â All I asked for was a sandwich, and I picked out some sides from the machine! Â I'm sorry but the food wasn't that good and I really waited over a half hour for my sandwich to be ready. Â
Sorry I will never go back.
I have been jonesing to go get some Jason's Deli ever since I learned they opened up this location (I found out because the first meal I had when visiting family in Texas was... yup, Jason's Deli!). Â My Texan friend and I dined here last week to much excitement on our parts. Â I'm not lying when I say I was borderline thrilled to eat here.
And it's everything I could have wanted. Â I got the salad bar and tomato basil soup (still the best I've ever had anywhere). Â We chowed down unapologetically and then got us some free ice cream.
God, it's just like home.
I seriously hope they keep opening up more throughout the city. Â Jason, I have a few suggestions/requests for locations, if you're interested. Â And dont be surprised if they are all near my apartment or work. Â Thanks!
I was extremely tired yesterday morning from working all night and forcing myself to do laundry before I went to bed. My friend needed to use my computer and begged my other friend and I to go to this place with her before her flight to Honduras left. I kept saying no and just finally gave in.
After parking far and having to go on a little trek due to the Maxwell Street Market, and she not knowing that there was a parking lot for the place, we arrive at Jason's.
The place was huge, and I have to disagree with Amy W; Jason's is nothing like Panera or Cosi. When you walk in there are menus right at the door for you to grab and browse through. The manager as well as other employees asked us on more than one occasion if we needed any help deciding on something. After we decided, we walked up to the register where we were greeted by the very nice cashier.
I ordered the Ciabatta Garden sandwich which, like all of their sandwiches, was easily  modifiable. I was able to add onions, minus field greens but add spinach, and sub pepper jack  for Asiago. After you order they give you a number to take to you table and place in a stand and they bring the food to your table once it's ready. This sandwich was extremely good, plus it was on whole wheat ciabatta bread with red and yellow peppers, cucumbers. Guacamole and balsamic vinaigrette. MMM... For my side I chose a bowl of  steamed vegetables and this amazing  tomato basil soup. I can't even lie this food was so good. The soup was so sweet and they added a bit of asiago cheese to it as well. Also to drink I had a Japanese Ito En Bottle Green Tea, which I love and only find these teas at  certain places.
One friend had a fruit plate with apples, strawberries, cantaloupe, grapes, and a scoop of tuna in the middle with a side of the tomato basil soup as well. She loved the soup too. The other had a Ruben with chips and fruit for the side. They both really loved their meals.
The manager and employees came out to our table as well as other tables and asked how everything was and if we received exactly what we wanted, which we did! I was informed that they had free soft serve ice cream so I had to hit that up, I got one of their home made brownies and swirled the unlimited self serve ice cream right on top.
This was it for me. The food and the dessert were just great, as well as the management and employees. Plus you can modify your meal anyway you like or grab the unlimited salad bar, or pasta or sandwich or anything else from their menu and choose from Fiji water and various other bottled or fountain drinks you like and enjoy free ice cream at the end.
A nice chill atmosphere with good food and a great staff..I'll definitely be hitting up Jason's again.
