This was our first time dining at Kohan Japanese Restaurant. It has a menu for Korean food as well as sushi and Japanese cuisine. We decided on having the Love Boat which is a good deal in theory. The chicken was okay, the Kalbi was better, the tempura was nice, the california rolls were typical, and the miso soup were average. I do like how they gave us free hot tea, since they usually charge for hot tea. I thought that was a nice touch. We also had a spider roll which I thought was not bad. It tasted good not too crunchy not too soft. Â Overall the restaurant experience was okay. Â Since they cater more to a college group, their restaurant is not equipped to cater to couples who have babies.
I would go back someday to perhaps try their Korean dishes and more of their sushi rolls. I would not get the love boat again because not everything on there was great and worth the price.
Been here a couple of times, I really like the interior and the ambiance, it's pretty modern and really nicely kept. I don't think they get a lot of business though because every time I've been there, it was nearly empty with only maybe one or two other parties there :( It's also located in UIC's university village, so the prices may be too steep for most college kids :(
But as far as food, it's nice, clean, and tasty! :) I've never been disappointed with their food thus far. The owners are Korean, I believe, so they've incorporated a lot of Korean cuisine into the menu, which I can really appreciate. Their lunch buffet is also really great!
