Hackney's Printers' Row

The burgers are definitely the way to go. Recently had steak and blue cheese salad and would not recommend at all.  Tough steak and hint of blue cheese. This was after requesting rare steak and love for blue.  The onion appetizer amazingly good  (and complemented addition to salad).  I will definitely be back (and staying away from salads).

I don't know whats with me going to places with burgers and bar food.... I must be going through a phase. But its a phase I'm enjoying :) and this place is a part of that. I had been to a hackneys out in the suburbs a few years back. When I saw this one, I had the impression from the art deco lamp shades and old city feeling that this place was the oldest, but I guess its actually a newer one. Either way, I like this one more.
The food here is good and the staff are always friendly and quick, they seem to have a lot of the columbia artsy college students working there and theres always a nice laid back vide there.
We usually just order appetizers and beers, Ive never actually had a meal here, so I can't go into great detail about the quality of a dinner, but everything Ive ever had has been great. just basic bar tasters, but I've never had any complaints with what Ive had.
Im not a big fan of the pretzel bun. Im not sure why everyone else seems to love them, but I think its optional, I don't know because, again,  I didn't actually order a burger, I've just seen them there.
Ive also heard their burger with the cheese on the inside is really good. Again, I didn't get that. But Ive heard from others its worth trying.
I would suggest sitting in the bar room as opposed to the dinning room, for the atmosphere. However I feel the serving in the dinning room is usually a little faster.
All in all great place, particularly if you''re in the mood for a few beers.

Hackney's is a really good bar to get a burger, try some different brews, and mingle with the locals. Best option in the Printer's Row area if you aren't in the mood for anything fancy.

Whatever burger you get, have it on the pretzel bun and, unless you have heart trouble, try the fried onion loaf. A half order can feed 3 people and is some serious greasy goodness.

Soups are solid and the other sandwiches and salad option are always good too. In fact, the strawberry spinach salad with a muffin on the side is spot on. Try it, especially if you have overloaded on fried onions and need to feel better about your intake.
