I've been here twice for their lunch buffet. Â My experience was better the first time; but that's because I liked their buffet selection better that time. Â They had this warm carrot/coconut/curry mash that was out of this world along with the other traditional Indian dishes. Â The second time the chicken in the Butter Chicken had some tough/rubbery bites. Â Otherwise, everything was fresh, tasty and satisfying.
Review Source:I would give this place zero stars if I could. This is the WORST Indian food I've ever eaten and I'm INDIAN!
We ordered food to be delivered from Curry House tonight and we were beyond disappointed.
We got the Palak paneer which was tasteless and the paneer was old and rubbery.
We also got the hara bara chicken kebab which was dry and tough to eat and not to mention heavily lacking any sort of spices.
The dish came with rice and we ordered 2 Lacha parathas on the side. The parathas were huge and dry. Parathas are supposed to be nice and flakey but whatever they sent us did not even closely resemble a paratha.
Lastly we ordered the gulab Jamuns for dessert. These were the worst gulab jamuns ever! They were dry and crunchie and nowhere near nice and soft like they are supposed to be.
I'm so upset that this places poses as an Indian restaurant !!
Save your $$$$ and go to Devon Street if possible. There are plenty of authentic Indian restaurants in Chicago and this isn't one of them.
I have eaten here a couple times now and its nice to have decent Indian place on the South Side. Â They have a huge menu of all the usual favorites plus some Nepalese dishes too. Â The basic curries are great, Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, biryani, etc. all delicious. Â Now here's something awesome. The rice is INCLUDED. Its such a pet peeve of mine in Indian restaurants when they charge extra for rice. Â Everything I have had here so far has been great. They also have a lunch buffet, which is pretty much the best thing to ever happen to Indian food in America.
The service was excellent. Our waiter took great care of us and was very helpful regarding recommendations on spiciness. Though, I think he underestimated us. I suppose we could have gone hotter, though not by much. Our waters never went empty, thankfully.
