Jigg's is a divey kind of bar, but I love it.  They have the BEST buffalo wings in the area, hands down!  I like the hot ones- they are always perfect- just the right amount of crispiness and sauciness!  Its a no nonsense kind of place so if you're looking for fancy- forget it, but if you want good wings and a beer you can't lose!  Its a mixed crowd of all ages and walks of life- so fun people watching too depending on what day and time you are there.  Staff is friendly and the bathroom (at least the lady's) is clean.

Nothing to complain about here. I have not had anything from the menu that I have not liked. Great place to go if you feel like sitting and eating but you want it a little livlier. Large bar so you are pretty sure to be able to belly up if you'd like. Sizzlers and patty melts all day for me...

Jiggs is a roadside saloon with a dark decor that fits its pedigree. It is not a destination for fine dining, but in the realm of simple pub food Jiggs excels. Their burgers are excellent and probably the best under $5 hamburger you will find in the area. Chicken wings are outstanding. Jiggs offers several wing sauces ranging from the heatless garlic parmesan,  with a sauce so delicious that you wish you had some bread to soak up the leftover, to "Suicide" which is hot enough to make your nose run.  The patty melt (chicken or beef), served on toasted bread with caramelized onions is outstanding.  This is the realm of fried food that is bad for you and they do it well.

Jiggs is above all a bar, and a local bar at that. If you aren't a regular you might notice a few heads turn when you walk in, but don't let that scare you. The locals will soon return to their beers and talk about fishing, politics or  whatever the subject of the day is.  Some people alluded to a "rough crowd" or "bikers" but they are nothing more than working class men and women out for a few beers after work. Nothing particularly "rough" about them.

There are televisions throughout the place and they are always tuned to several sports channels so if you want to watch the Yankees or Mets, or the Giants or something else you need to find a seat with a view of that game. Or you can sometimes get the bartender to switch the channel for you so you can watch what you want, as long as nobody else objects.

Live music usually kicks in about 9:00 with mostly jazz  or blues based artists and there is an open mic night (Wed I think) where I've seen some surprisingly talented singers.

There is an area with tables that is apparently serviced by the bartenders in a rotation, so table service can be crappy at times and something of an afterthought. That is Jiggs. If you want consistent, prompt service you are better off  forgetting about the tables and  sit at the bar for eats.

The beer selection is rather ordinary.  It is mostly the usual big brewery offerings such as Bud and Miller Lite, but they also offer Smithwicks, Guinness Stout and Newcastle Brown Ale, but that is as far as it goes.  True beer aficionados may find the offerings wanting.

If you are looking for  simple, well executed pub food and are willing to put up with somewhat spotty service pass by the big chains that line Route 23 and head to Jiggs.

Food is ok, more of a Budwieser/Coors place as far as beer goes. I don't go often because the crowd is kind of depressing.

i have been randomly eating at this bar for the past 5 years. the first 2 years it was great. everything on the menu was excellant. "the Sizzler" the burger and the wings being my favorites. over the past few years, the food has dropped in quality and size.
the sizzler is still tasty, just smaller. the burgers are quite a bit thinner and constantly overdone. i always order med rare, and get well done.
i went there because the food was great. the beer selection is pretty lame.they have several taps, but no microbrews, or rotating taps. so what went from a pub/biker bar with great food and lame beer is now moving into the lame beer and lame food area.
also as mentioned in other reviews, the clientel is very clickish. as i said i went there pretty regularly. some of the staff recognized me and greated me. but the patrons have never talked to me and barely make eye contact. not exactly "cheers"

I have gone to Jigg's for 10yrs. i find that you just can't have a good time there. If you start to get a little loud the owner will tell you to keep it down. He wants it to be a family resturant, not so much a bar. food is ok, service not good.

I've been passing this place for a few years and finally stopped in, Got "the sizzler" steak. Turned out to be a pretty nice cut of meat. It was tender and cooked perfect. The bar is sort of a biker bar and a restaurant that's filled with people from the neighborhood. I will definitely stop in when I'm in the area from now on.

Don't care for this place at all. Food is good but crowd isn't and very dingy place. Your typical locals style bar dark inside with a large center bar. Crowd is really an odd group most nights you have a mix of 50 some year olds and then a few people in there 30's. Butler really needs a bar that caters to mid twenties to mid thirties group !!!!!!

As transplants from Brooklyn, finding decent, even GOOD food in the West Milford/ Riverdale area has been a challenge...until Jigg's.  Now I should have written this review a year ago when we began going there; for dinner, with our five year old.  Jigg's is a bar, with a separate lunch/ dinner seating area (booths and tables).  We normally arrive there between 5 - 6pm, various days of the week.  If you go on a night when there is Live entertainment you could be waiting quite a while (Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays).
The menu is not typical bar fare, sure they have an array of appetizers: Nachos (my favorite with fresh chili and real melted cheddar), jalapeno poppers, fried ravioli, then there is something delectable called: The Haystack (fries with pot roast and gravy with melted cheese).
Their sandwiches are delish!  Especially the Steak sandwich on garlic bread, it is an actual sandwich steak, not shaved Steak Um!  The garlic roll is fresh and garlicky, it is amazing how often I crave this thing!  The Rachel, another sandwich (turkey, swiss or provolone, with slaw and russian) and of course their fresh corned beef reuben.  With Sandwiches including fries (their hand cut sweet potato fries are a little extra, but worth it.) running you under $8 give or take it is affordable.
Now there is only one problem with Jigg's - Their Service.  The is one server in particular, but it has happened with others that "forgets" your order, can be rude if you have a child in your party (yes, I understand it is a bar, however it is also a restaurant).  They also seem to get quite frazzled when it gets busy; i.e. bartenders often wait on tables in addition to bar patrons.
Within the past 6 months the food quality went sort of down hill (wilted lettuce in salads/ overcooked chicken fingers and fried shrimp, not the norm), shall I say?  Not really sure why.
If it weren't for the unpredictable service I would give Jigg's 5 Stars.  Oh well.

Better then most restaurants on Rt 23!
Steak sandwich is always a good choice.
    wings are good.
Service is good for a bar!
sometimes crowd is rough but everyone keeps to them selves.

Jigg's is the most dependable night spot in the Butler-Bloomingdale megalopolis, staying hot until about as late as is legal, with good to very good live music (often cover bands).  There's a pool table, some dart boards, and plenty of seats at the bar.

I'm not sure why Jigg's is called 'Steakhouse'; they have better-than-average bar food, with daily specials, but I don't recall seeing too many Porterhouses running around.
