Johnny's Tavern

Oh Johnny's...when I first turned 21, you could still smoke in bars in NJ and I remember walking in here and you would feel like you are in a scene in Rescue Me. Smoke was all over the place and the morning after you would sniff your clothes and almost call earl, but I digress. The regulars that go to Johnny's spend all day at the bar, don't use Yelp and would probably call hipsters faggots if they stepped foot in here. This is a real dive bar so that means you can get a Yuengling for a $1.50. You have your Golden Tee, pool, and shuffle board. One time a friend of mine once met an off the boat gypsy from Ireland who injured himself from a robbery gone wrong and he ended up passing out on a recliner pissing himself. Total townie bar which you will get dirty looks initially, but they will subside. When in Boonton...

If fist pumping and club bangers just aren't your thing you're in luck. Johnny's has had a bad rap but I'm here to set the story straight. Sure, maybe their bar tenders come off just bit rude, but hey with $7 pitchers who could complain. This place could really could be hit or miss sometimes but I've always managed to have a good time. You just never know what the night will have in store for you.

If you love dive bars, this is the place for you. Super cheap drafts ($1.50) that can't be beat within a 10 mile radius.  

Lots of tvs and neon beer signs, a pool table ($1 or $2 per game), a shuffle board, game nights, and bar food from a toaster oven ranging from pizza to super pretzels to a bag of popcorn.

Definitely not classy, but cheap and fun.
