Just got home from this place and WOW!!! Really?? I live in San Ramon now (just moved back fro out of state) and i remember a place in Pleasanton a few years ago named AURA and that place was crackin til the place got sold to a new owner who didn't know what they were doing. It was called Status then Playhouse and then Neo. All within a year. So when i heard that the new ownership screwed that place up, i went to Karma.
Not a bad looking place, but small. Not a bad spot if you just wanna go chill for the night. I wouldn't throw my birthday there.
I liked the FREE cover before 11pm. Thats money i would rather spend on a drink. Even still, for a place this small, why charge a cover?? I go to the bar and was blown away by their prices. Talk about "over priced & watered down." If you looked up a definition for that saying, they should just have a picture of this club by it. Waste of money and time in my books.
Dress code? What dress code? They "enforce" a dress code, but then let in a bunch of douchebags. I was told they worked there. Way to set an example Karma.
The music was ok. Security looked like they spent more time just hitting on the girls than actually doing their job. Not ot mention they weren't exactly kind to people they didn't know. Quite rude to be honest. Bottle Service was horrible. The only thing nice about it was our server. The prices though.... WOW... really?? Your a tiny club in Dublin California. Not Las Vegas.
The clientle.... umm... looked more like a west coast version of Jersey Shore. Tons of roided out douchebags and a bunch of fake girls there.
I went tonight because i saw a facebook post about how crackin it was gonna be because the VIP was pretty much "sold out." So i meet some friends there and found out the their bottles were free. As well as a couple tables around us. So it didn't take me long to figure out that the only reason these people were going there, was because they were giving away free bottles. Im not gonna complain about Free drinks, but I wonder how this place does when they aren't comping bottles to people. In fact, a lot of the girls there tonight even said, "The only reason we are here is because the club comped us a bottle." Oh yeah... their VIP booths, wow... pathetic. Can't believe that is considered VIP.
Overall, i might go back to this place someday, but it has to be for a good reason.
The venue is small but not bad. What killed it for me was the lack of professionalism that their security staff had. On more than one occasion, I was forcefully bumped out of the way, and when a fight broke out, there was a struggle between 2 guards and a guy, but the rest of them just stood there while I was pinned against the railing because of the scuffle!! Mind you, I'm wearing a dress and heels.
The service was okay, bartenders okay, music cool, but the reason why I will never come again is because their security staff made me feel unsafe. They seemed more preoccupied with standing by in case they had to jump into the scuffle instead of securing the location, WHICH IS REALLY THEIR JOBS. Now I have to go nurse a huge bruise on my thigh. I'm glad I was on the guest list and didn't pay to get wounded.
When I arrived inside this place a magical word came to mind: Dump!!! What a dump!!! The people here couldn't be more of a dump themselves. The drinks are served smaller the beer is warm and the music style brought
Back memories of hight school dance. Then on top of that this place has a NO "lean on the bar" rule. Can you believe it that u can't rest your hands on the bar??? Then I order a drink right and when u look at your drink the cup is filled with ice and its in the smallest plastic cup ever. Plus they have dancing rules here. If u are dancing to wildly security comes over and tell u to stop dancing. So when the DJ plays a song called "duggy" you can't teach anyone how to do it. Please as if this place needs that much crowd control.
At least you can go outside with out having to worry about "in's and Out's"
I would only go here if my crew wanted to go again.
Headed over there for dinner during their normal business and there was no one there in sight. No staff! You could probably mix your own drinks!!!! Seriously, I just walked in and it was like I was in the twilight zone being the last human on Earth. I just headed next door to the sports bar instead. Don't waste your time going here.
Review Source:I came here with my friends on a Friday night since we didn't feel like heading out to the city.
Cover was free !!! ( since it was the Friday after new years )
Since we got to the club so early, I didn't expect that much people to be there, but I was hoping that more people would show up eventually. Â
The drinks were happy hour from 50% off all drinks, 10 - 11 so my friends and I took full advantage of that.
Shots of patron were only $6 !!! That is almost as cheap as buying a whole bottle for yourself hehe.
The bartender mesed up on a few of our drinks though, he completely forgot the coke in my friends jack n coke, and the long island that he made tasted like he forgot the triple sec / lemon juice  / whatever else that makes the long island not taste like shit.
It was probably the worst long island I've tasted in my life.
The jack n coke comes to a close second because it was just whiskey on ice., and watered down whiskey is worse than having it straight.
The midori sours that he made us also tasted like he forgot the whiskey sour mlix or whatever alcohol that they use in midori sours.
The dj here played a good mix of music !!! We left around 12 because even by 12, there were still less than 20 people in the club :( This club is  a really nice place though, I think it could be really fun if more people showed up.
Just look at the photos of the reviewers... That'll give you a good sense of the crowd here. Â If you're looking for dumb as rock guys, and girls that look like they're being smuggled into a life of prostitution, Karma Lounge is your spot. Â It's like a bad episode of Jersey Shore, with even less intellect and class. Â Throw in a sticky dance floor, too. Â Gross.
Review Source:This club/lounge is weak unless you like the asian lesbian like high school dance type then I guess you, might consider it appealing to you. I've have enough bought life experience to tell you that this place is boring unless you got lots of money to spend on buying female drinks all night, talking to women aka dumbass girls who say they're just there with their girlfriends have a good time or just kind to reminisce on how much fun it is to only mess with guys who have money. Overall the place is saturated with females who think that they're better than the rest and guys who thinks that money buys everything. Weak place, high school asian theme might be your best bet, sorry ass place
Review Source:(This review is directed towards the nightclub part for clarification.)
Worst nightclub by far. Their staff is rude and incompetent. Overpriced in general for a mediocre crowd. Â
I have never once been here without some sort of drama or fight breaking out, mainly blame this on the type of crowd that is present and the bouncers inability to handle situations professionally.
No ins and outs even if you need to grab something from your car because you know, you could be smuggling in a M-16 just because.
At this rate of pissing off regulars with their Vegas-Club Complex I wouldn't be surprised if they went out of business soon. Or they become the Aura of Dublin and change their name every season in hopes of making a comeback. We all saw how well that worked out for Aura.
The 40 min drive to the city is definitely worth it or even Walnut Creek. I wouldn't send my enemy here.
I went there on a last minute decision with a buddy. Â The cover was $20 but whatever. Â The thing that gets me is that if I am going to pay $20 cover, I don't want to hear "Push It" by Salt and Peppa. Â I looked around and asked, "Is the DJ really playing this song?" Â I noticed a few other people with the same look on thier face.
The night was pretty lame and there were waaaay too many dudes.
I wish I could give this 0 stars. This place does make an attempt to be an alright night club but completely fails. I have been here multiple times and always manages to not make my night better. I usually have a good time even at bland night clubs but have never here. One, the bouncers are on a power trip and trip about anything clothing wise even if its not even out of code as a dude. Second, you night will suck as a dude especially cause you will be surrounded in tools. Third, drinks are a joke and the prices are out of control.
I came to see E40, they raised the prices and didn't let anyone in time for free tickets on purpose. Then said he was coming on in 10 minutes for 3 hours. This place is almost a scam to be a night club.
I hope this review has an impact. All the times I have been here was not my choice and every time I give it a chance it disappoints
This club is actually nice compaired to the other ones in Pleasenton and Livermore. Â I'm more of a San Francisco club girl but this place was okay except for the DJ. Â He sucked. Â He kept talking and he was playing the same music more then once a couple of times. Â WHO PLAYS A SONG MORE THEN ONCE??? The DJ does play a mix of music. Â Hip Hop and then house and then back to hiphop so you get a mix back and forth
Other then that the staff was nice and the bathrooms are clean because that is important. I'm not using a dirty toilet full of crap and pee. Â The price for a table is good and the seating we had, had a dance floor above. Â
The club is located is a shopping area and you would never know there was a club there. Â Do watch out for the cops because at 1:30am there posting up around the area to make stops.
Guess this place serves food in the day so I'll have to try that.
Looking for Unir - only to find out it was closed. So ended up having a quick bite here.
Place was empty.... Â We were completely ignored by who was supposed to seat us because they were having a chat at a table for a few minutes.
The order:
Kettle&Cran - tastes fine
Generic raspberry ice tea - ok
Black truffle French fries topped with shaved Parmesan $6 - overwhelming truffle, you couldn't taste the parmesan, the chef needs to not be so heavy handed with the truffle oil.
Karma dumplings - served crisp with spicy soy based dipping sauce filled with chicken and vegetables $7 - seemed like these were a frozen variety that they just fried, like you get at the food tasting counters at Costco.
Adobo chicken - 2 corn tortilla filled with shredded chicken, cabbage, cilantro, carrots, topped with a fire roasted vegetable wasabi salsa $6 - probably the worst tacos I've ever tasted, the cabbage was so bitter and there was nothing to balance the weird flavors this dish offered
Tilapia- 2 corn tortilla filled with beer battered tilapia, lettuce , tipped with a citrus cilantro sauce $6 - fish was soggy and not crispy.
They get 2 stars for the waitress who was super friendly and nice.
Not coming back here!

Hey Karma manager..... spend the money and get a good resident DJ that plays current music that we want to hear.
I have a like-hate relationship with Karma. Â
Likes: Â It's in walking distance from my friend's condo, the cute tall middle eastern bouncer, the music, how much fun I have with 30 of my friends
Hates: Â
The cheap cheap cheap alcohol they pour, I'm talkin Popov quality that you could only drink with a virgin liver as a teenager, and the outrageous prices they charge for any non-well drinks. Â
The fact that I almost get kicked out of this place everytime I go, and mind you, I have only been kicked out of a club once in my life -(Vegas- nuffsaid).
The itty bitty cheapy plastic cups that my non-hulklike hands crush while dancing with some fugly face.
The amount of trailor trash and lack of good looking guys.
How much fun I have with any number less than 30 of my friends.
The lack of organization and false promises from the owner in regards to cover.
In addition to all of the regular things that I just can't stand about this place, they promoted a Bei Major performance that was literally half of a lip synched song. Â I'll be back to avoid a DUI, but if there happens to be another club in Dublin that opens up, I'll pay the cab fare when visiting!!!
I'm not crazy about this place. Â I went with a friend because I had never been to a club before and I was open to the experience.
They did a great job keeping up with the energy of the place and the staff overall seemed very nice and professional, except when I went to the bar for a drink. Â When the bartender FINALLY got to me ( I know it was crowded, but it shouldn't take 15 minutes to get to me) I ordered a Blue Moon. Â She asked me what kind of mixed drink that was. Â I had to stop for a second because A) Blue Moon is not a mixed drink, it's a very basic domestic beer that happens to be pretty dang popular and B) I was looking at it in the fridge right behind her. Â There was ONLY Blue Moon in there. Â Seriously? Â How can you get a job as a bartender and not know your basic beers that most bars carry, whether on tap or bottled?
Other than a serious lack of knowledge of what YOUR OWN BAR CARRIES, it's not a bad place. Â I wouldn't return any time soon, though. Â Clubs aren't really my thing.
THANK YOU Karma for exceeding our expectations by leaps and bounds. Granted, we had very low expectations to begin with... a decent club in the residential boonies of Dublin sounded far-fetched to say the least.
My friends were debating whether to drive to San Jose or stay in the area for a night of dancing. Our local options were limited - Karma, Sapphire Lounge, Popi, and Sunshine Saloon. Sooo glad that we gave this place a chance.
Diverse crowd and GREAT music. Props to DJ John Lau aka MK2 and Resident DJ LorenZoe for playing what we wanted to hear! The music transitioned from house to "old school" rap and hip hop (I realize that not everyone on yelp is the same age as me. To clarify, these songs were from the 90s), then top 40 hits. In the end it's the music that really makes the difference between having a good time and having a miserable time at a club, at least for me.
Only thing that could be improved was the cover - $10 after 10:30 pm. I didn't have to pay because I got there early, but my friends came later and weren't too happy about the price. If these DJs make more appearances at Karma, you bet I'll be there too.
A classy establishment that holds up their end of the bargain.
Decent priced drinks, professional staff and not brainless juice heads bouncin' the doors and actin' a fool when their supposed to be security.
I witnessed a minor altercation, and before it was able to escalate, security rushed them out the side doors before anyone had a chance to notice the meat heads causing trouble, and the crowd didn't know a thing! I just happen to be standing in that moment to have noticed.
The bartenders were friendly and attentive.
Not sure of what cover would be, but they were very accommodating.
They don't have any cheesy go-go dancers---but lagit performers that keep the crowd hype.
Great DJ.
Downside? Small venue, and I noticed a long wait for the bathrooms.
Go Dublin! Love Karma! I'll definitely be back when I'm in town!
ICK, GROSS, NASTY... That pretty much sums up my opinion of this place.
I had heard a lot of my friends talk about coming to this place and having a good time. My friend's birthday was last Friday, so I decided to show up for her birthday party.
After my first drink, I asked the bartender for a water (It helps me to not be hungover, it's not like I was wasted after 1 drink.) He grabbed a DIRTY plastic cup that someone had left on the counter, filled it with water, and handed it to me. Uhh... Isn't that against some sort of health code? He quickly moved on to the next customer and ignored my protests.
I left and will never come back.
This review is based on the club and not the dining. Â I've been to Karma a few times and its a decent club. Â I've never had a fully wild unbelievable time at Karma, but I have had decent times in Karma. Â It's conveniently located close to home so that's nice, though if given the choice, I would probably venture out to different locations. Â
The music is decent, though it's never fully captivated me. Â Ok that sounds a little whiny considering it's just a club. Â But have any of you ever been in a club and the mix of the songs and they way they mixed the songs really made you feel the music? Well that doesn't happen here. Â If you want to stay close to home, good place to go. Â You want to have the most amazing club experience of your life? Go elsewhere.
I came here on a Friday night with my wondeful cousins and sister for the first time. (Yup! It was a family affair.).
I love how it's hella not GHETTO! Everyone was so friendly and classy unlike all the other clubs I've been to!
Everyone was dancing the night away and having fun plus the females plus males here has manners on the dance floor. Usually i would have to bust a move just to push/step on a broad when they push me/step on me but i was so amazed that people know how to say "excuse me" or "sorry"! Â Hahaha. I like this club!
The only sad part is that they have no chairs/couch that you could sit on after hours of dancing! All the couches/chairs are for the bottle services.
So you'd wonder why anyone would drive out of their way to come to a place like this, out in the middle of nowhere. Â I thought the same thing, when meeting up with my friends who are from all over the bay area, and Dublin seems to be our middle meeting spot. Â And after coming to Karma, I can see us coming back many more times to come. Â
I've been here on two separate occasions...one for the lounge/night club experience and another for evening drinks/dinner. And let me tell you, both experiences were EXCEPTIONAL. Â
The first time, my girls and I were having a girls night out type of thing, for some good drinks, music, and a night of dancing. Â We all have boyfriends and hate when you get the creepy creepers who start grinding up on you from behind or do not leave you alone. Â Luckily, we didn't get any of that, and everyone was just there to have a good time and was respectful to all the ladies. Â Also, the crowd is pretty diverse, none of that ALL Asian or ALL Mexican crowd, and people are dressed up a little nicer than what you'd see in ghetto San Jose (where I'm from). Â The best part of the night was getting to meet the owner, Tim, (through a friend's friend), and having him hook us girls up with a VIP table and a bottle of champagne! Really great service and really nice owner!
The second time we were here, we actually intended on having a nice dinner/drinks at Cellar 9 next door. Â Since one of our girls was running late, we decided to stop by Karma for some drinks while we waited for her. Â There, we got to meet Jeremy, the general manager, who introduced himself to us, and then served us very strong but delicious drinks! Â One lychee martini led to the next, and then to the next, and then to a couple extra shots. Â By this time he had trapped us and we ended up staying and having dinner there! Â We never made it to Cellar 9 like we had planned, but we had a great time drinking, eating, catching up, and meeting the fabulous staff of Karma. =)
My fave from the bar was the lychee martini, made with 3 types of liquor. Â It's all alcohol so it's SUPER STRONG! =P My faves from the dinner menu were the kobe beef sliders (comes with 3), and the white truffle oil fries. Â DELICIOUS!!!
Great drinks, food, music, and best of all, SERVICE. Â Thank you, Tim and Jeremy, for offering such wonderful experiences. Â I don't know if we'll ever get to check out Cellar 9 because we'll probably just keep coming back to Karma! haha =)
Don't come here expecting Club Karma with DJ Pauly D on the 1s and 2s. Â
Come here with the mindset that you are in Dublin, California, a finalist for an All American City. Â With that said, this place is cool for what it is. Â Decent music, normal priced drinks, long lines for the bathroom. Â Their VIP area kinda sucks though because it has a barricade, so you have to walk through all the other groups to get to the dance floor and bathroom and some of those people give you some dirty ass looks, like why are you all up in our spot?
I ripped my favorite jeans dancing to my favorite song, "Pop, Lock, and Drop It," so I must have had some sort of a good time.
HORRIBLE customer service and RUDE staff pretty much sums it up.
The people who work here have a serious God complex; it seems like they think this is a Vegas club. Â Reality check--it's far from it.
My boyfriend called ahead of time to check the dress code and was assured that his all black Nike shoes would be acceptable. When we walked up, from 20 feet away, the bouncer yelled to my boyfriend "you are NOT getting in with those shoes." Are you kidding me? He explained that he had called ahead, but since he didn't know the name of the person he spoke with, they were persistent in refusing him entry...until he slipped the guy a $10. After that I should have known how the night was going to turn out.
After some dancing (on their small, close to empty dance floor), my asthma was acting up and I was having trouble breathing, so I went to the bathroom with a friend so that I could catch my breath. On our way out of the bathroom, the attendant pulled me outside and said that they were kicking me out--for being too drunk. This was not the case.
I told them we had a VIP table and they asked who's table it was. I told them my friend's name and they said "so, your FRIEND has VIP, not you." Excuse me? We all put down money for the VIP table and that was way out of line. Â If we weren't there for my friend's birthday, I would have said good riddance and left this place after being spoken to like that. Â But, I kept my cool and after much argument, I was allowed back in to sit at our table under the conditon that "they'd be watching me, and if anyone sees me with a drink in my hand, I would be kicked out."
After the whole ordeal and being disrespected, I just couldn't enjoy myself and didn't feel right giving them my business any longer, so we left. Â We spent the rest of the evening at our room at the Hyatt Place, which was awesome.
Needless to say, I will NEVER be back to Karma and will strongly suggest to everyone I can that they stay away.
From the looks of all the bad reviews and my eye witness account to the shady way this place runs their business, Â I'm sure their own Karma will come back to bite them one of these days.
Someone once told me that craters on the moon are not the business.. Â Some of the ladies here sporting the short skirts might want to consider doing squats at the gym.. Shame on you for coming out looking like that!
I can confirm that most of the crowd a) are lightweight trashy looking b) have no rhythm c) have no concept of personal space d) and have no rhythm.. Freaking? Really? That's all you know? C'mon!
What really irritated me was the DJ or rather a lack of a DJ..
Whoever is spinning at this joint needs to go to DJ school. Â Do yourself a favor, look up how to DJ on google or YouTube or something. Â Seriously, the music and mixing skills were absolutely LAME. Â I've got nephews who got better mixes on their iPods for crying out loud! Â Sorry brotha, but they wouldn't let that fly in the city.. You'd get booed out the club! Just sayin'..
If they get better DJ's I might reconsider giving Karma a better rating.. Maybe not...
I'm going to be as impartial as possible with this one:
Pros:
1) it's in a relatively safe neighborhood so none of those ghetto fabulous wannabes roaming up and down the street
2) bartenders are hot and nice
3) well that's about it
Cons:
1) everyone there looks like one of those borderline homosexuals from Jersey Shores
2) they CLAIM to have an upscale dress code but then you see these idiots allowed to walk in wearing just a white t-shirt
3) they shaft you on the drinks
4) the women there need to realize that if you have cellulite and rolls on your legs you have no business wearing a mini-skirt and fuck-me-boots
5) last and the number 1 reason this place is horrible: the DJ! Not only did he end up playing the same song three or for times throughout the night within 10 minutes of the last time he played it, he didn't even play music that entertained the whole crowd. playing trance and techno all night only caters to one group...what about the rest of us who like REAL music?! If Karma wants to succeed they need to fire the idiot who was DJing last night and hire someone who knows how to read the crowd
My review is based on 2 drunken nights and dancing at Karma.
Living right across the road, we never went to Karma Lounge! On one occasion, a drunken Saturday night and 2 hookah's later, a few of us decided to go dancing simply because there wasn't enough space to dance in our pad. We walked and hopped across the road and into Karma. Cover charge for the guys is around $10 and for the girls $5. Not bad huh? We walked in and a chap who was walking out told us the place sucked. TO score, maybe. To dance? No! The DJ played decent dance music in tandem with current hits. The bartender was awesomely sweet and paid attention to everyone at the bar. The dancefloor is not too big. It however reminded me of Aura, what with the chicks dancing in the center and the guys humming and spotting from the bar.
On the second occasion, we came when they had a $20 unlimited drinks night. The bartender did not adulterate the alcohol with water. All my drinks were strong! Unfortunately, the DJ that night had no idea what he was playing.
Honestly, when you get in for cheap, having too many expectations is just wrong. Besides, you are in suburbia. What more do you expect? You want a good nightclub, go to either SF or San Jose!
When my friends asked me how this place was the one word that sums it up was "Whack".
Came here this past Friday night celebrate my friends birthday and we arrived around 11:45pm  The place was not that packed and the DJ was not very good.  I know it was dark and everything but the decor was "Whack".  Its basically a really half ass attempt in creating a TAO in Vegas.  They have a couple Buddhas through out the place and some feaux bamboo plants around and it just didn't work well. Â
The set up of the place a little weird also. Â The bath rooms are all the way in the back and are small. Â This is the first time I've been in a club where there is a line for the men's room! Â A security guard was back there allowing one person in at a time. Â Drinks were moderately priced at $5 for beer and I'm not sure how much for mixed drinks.
Doubt I'll ever be back. Â It was a total sausage party...I'd say there's 3 guys to every girl there.
Also FYI...be careful out there when you leave as the police are chillen outside looking to pop you for a DUI!
I have wanted to try this place for a while now and finally did this past Friday- big mistake!
We were the only patrons in the restaurant Friday 5:15pm, there were at least 4 employees and we still received HORRIBLE service. Â We had to ask for everything from water, to our bill at the end. Â Our blonde female server spent the entire time on the phone and was throughly uninterested in waiting on us. Â Everyother employee seemed more interested in helping the DJ get set up than patrons there to eat dinner. Â
The food was great but the service was soo bad that even my kids complained about how slow they were and that they were all sitting at the bar watching television!
Great food and ambience but horrible service - too bad
My ladies and I came on the Sunday of memorial day weekend. Pretty good sized crowd for a Sunday but the drinks were overpriced and the DJ was waaaaack. Are we supposed to be slow dancing? Because I thought we left that in 8th grade. Up the tempo, and maybe listen to a radio from time to time to get an idea of what's hot.
Might go back, but its definitely a last resort.
I've heard mixed reviews about Karma. Last night was my first time there, and I will say I had a great time. Went there for the lounge/bar/mini club. The night does start off slow as people are at the bar, but this happens everywhere. Towards the end of the night there were tons of people on the dance floor, but you still had room to dance.
Tim is fantastic, not sure if he's the coowner/mgr, but he took care of us. Cocktails were $7 each, normal. However, they were not watered down! Plus!
I would recommend calling ahead to find out what the music being played will be because I have heard that they play all kinds of music there. I typically want to hear hip hop/reggae etc. Success. They even threw in some house tracks that remind me of Vegas. Plus! Crowd was pretty mixed. DJ was great.
Decor/Ambiance: It's an odd setup where the VIP area is. It has metal gates which makes me think it should be outdoors. Just looks odd where it is and doesn't look "VIP". There's a large partition where you walk in and two stages where it looks like they'd have dancers. Where were they?? Â Some people have complained about seating, but there is some seating outside, I did not go out there. They should think about doing something with the black curtains up near the ceiling. It makes the lounge look very enclosed and small.
Other than the weirdos that come up to you, yea you know who you are lol, it was a great time and I will be back. :)
There's good Karma, & there's bad Karma. This is Bad Karma.
I received the flyer in the mailpak & read about them in Diablo magazine. We went (me + 3 friends) for FRIDAY night dinner ~6:15 wanting to try Happy Hour. Â We are all foodies & 1 of us is going to culinary school.
Happy Hr til 7pm: 1/2 off small plates.
#1- they are out of Coors Lite & are only offering Bud Lite or Corona
#2- they are out of oysters (we wanted 18)
#3- they were out of the Crispy Filet Mignon Cheese Steak Eggrolls
#4- 3 entrees arrived, the 4th (Sesame Crusted Ahi) didn't. She never placed it. When it did come out: it was raw & cold cold cold.
We felt sorry for the waitress who we barely saw. She had all 9 tables or so & for some reason, she was behind the bar making our drinks along with 3 bartenders (what were they doing?)
The food runner needs to be trained. He brought out 1 maybe 2 dishes at a time. 1 was served his entree at the same time 1 was served his side (where is his entree?) & CLEAR the table either BEFORE or WHILE you are here adding more plates. We started stacking our plates ourselves.
The prices for the entrees are HIGH considering the sides are al a carte. The ENTIRE menu consists of small plates considering EVERYTHING is served on the SAME SIZE & style of plate.
The 1 star is for the chef/manager who 1/2 offed our last round of drinks ( at my request & which should have been 1/2 as we wanted to get the order in before 7pm but the only waitress didn't come by in time).
We pretty much agreed this is not a place for Good Karma...
OK where do I begin, if you've been to Aura in Pleasanton and didn't like it Karma would be the last place you want to go. Â It's unfortunate that I live locally and sometimes my friends and I are just too lazy to go out to San Jose or San Francisco so we end up in places like these. Â Karma in a word is "bland" Â you feel like you're in a green square box with a bar and a half.
I've been here three times and I've yet to have a good time and I'm no wall flower so I would advise all to stay clear of this place. Â Expensive weak drinks, douche bags and want-to-be Kim Kardashian/Paris Hilton types all over. Â This place is just a recipe for a bad time unless you match the type of people I described earlier.
One star and I wish I could give it none.
0 stars are in order!
Not because...
a- we were ignored at the bar
b- we were made some of the crappiest drinks ever
c- the crowd was wack
d- the DJ wasn't very good
e- the decor was blah
f- no one was dancing
g- some one had a baby, yes a baby, at their booth.
No, our experience was crappy because of a total jerk of a bouncer!
We showed up and all of the above listed things occurred. Don't get me wrong the bouncer at the front was awesome. He was nice hooked us up and let us in. Once we got in the above listed a-g took place so we decided to bounce. In an effort to minimize our carbon footprint we left one of the cars there and I drove us out to Sapphire in Livermore.
After a fun filled night at Sapphire we headed back to Karma so I could drop my friend off at her car. As I turn in to the parking lot there is a taxi in front of me. I see the taxi get flagged through a make shift barricade (3 orange cones) by a bouncer. I come up to the barricade and inform the bouncer that I am just going to go drop off my friends.
Dumb bouncer- "NO! Your not a taxi you cant come in"
Me- Duh I am not a taxi. "I just want to drop off my friend at her car, I will be right back out"
Dumb Bouncer- "NO! Make a U-Turn and go back"
Me- Don't run over his cones and flip him off!
At this point my friends got pissed and just hopped out of the car and said forget this guy we will walk.
Moral of the story- I am never going back again!
Checked this place out last night cause it was close. When we arrived there, there was not a big line and no cover. That was about as good as it got. After that i thought it sucked. I'm not even sure how i got in the place, i think the dress code is Ed hardy shirt required. Not a big crowd at first, then it starting filling in around 11:30. NOBODY dances here, everyone just stands on the dance floor. It's just a big standing room with music. Not sure if people in this area of the bay don't know how to dance or don't like to dance. Either way just stay home if you want to stand around.
Don't think i would come back here, would rather go down a few doors to Buffalo wild wings, or hell maybe even Lowe's.
I know this place is fairly new but they really should have thought of a few things before opening. It totally didn't look ready to open. No sign outside. Just a banner. Weak! Inside, looks like they want to make it look trendy but it didn't come off that way. So, it says lounge but if it's a lounge, shouldn't there be more seating? Are you going for more of a club or more of a lounge? Make up your mind. They had VIP section on one side and was separated by a rail. Which by the way, is the only thing you can lean on because there is no seating in the whole place (except for the VIP section). That just sucks for a so-called lounge.
The music was horrible. Who plays Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA???" C'mon people. I mean I know we are in the valley but play some decent stuff. There were two TV's that were super bright and just playing the videos of the songs that the DJ was playing. I've never been to a club where there were videos going on at the same time. I don't think I really liked that. The music was just bad and no mixing at all!
It's really tight in there after 11pm. It's almost like they should have taken over two suites to accommodate people. You can barely walk through the dance floor and they have this whole upper section but only the DJ is up there. Kind of weird to see the DJ have his own floor. What's up with that?
Drinks were kind of weak and expensive. Bought a lemon drop and a Red Bull with vodka that came to $21. Pretty high for two drinks! The crowd is exactly what the rest of the reviews say, JERSEY SHORE dudes mixed with in with a bunch of Valley girls.
After about 10mins. I was ready to take off to Aura in Pleasanton. At least they have decent music, better ambiance, and at least two rooms of different types of music.
Sorry to say but Karma is not worth it unless you like going to brand new clubs that are not really ready to open.
I checked this place out Friday night with my girls, there was no line - which can be a good and bad thing... ended up being pretty good since there was no cover before 11am ... and it there was a good amount of people inside. The place got really crowded around 12:30a.
The music was really good (loved the music videos they had playing with the songs).
The drinks were really small but only about $6 for a Jack n Coke. The bartenders were pretty speedy.
The crowd is kinda funny - lots chicks dolled up in dresses - Very Ptown, and lotsa Bro's in their Affliction/Hardy shirts... kinda cracks me up.
Overall ... pretty much a ditto of Aura but smaller location.
Upon entering this small club with 2 friends on a Wednesday night (cinco de mayo) I noticed the new warehouse smell of the place ~ the sexiest smell ever, as you can imagine! The decor is boring, it seemed like an attempt to look classy. The crowd was not my type. It was as if we had stumbled upon a scene from Jersey Shore, seriously! There was some seriously dirty and super unclassy grinding on the dance floor, which turned out to be quite entertaining to watch! The place was a meat market, I was approached by four men over the course of the night,
all of whom resembled the buff and prettied-out guys of Jersey Shore,
two of which felt free to put their hands on me and one who asked me if i
am Chinese or black because since I am from Oakland I HAD to be one of the two, right? It was too funny!
The bartenders were quick to make our drinks, which turned out ok...just ok.
The place was pretty crowded for a weeknight. The crowd was not very fun, and it was 80% men. It might be different on a weekend. It looks to me that it's a great place to go to find a one night stand or with a small
group of people who are down to...uh...get down like the Jersey Shore
kids. It's an up and coming area, it might be fun just to go check it out.
