Ok, i have been here at least 8-10 times for lunch and my brother has consistent come here to watch the fights and hang out. I have brought dates, family, and work colleagues. All past experiences have been OK and nothing too extraordinary but to help out a local restaurant i continue to patron until recently.
If you REALLY HAVE to come, DONT come on a Tuesday, 1pm and sit in the patio area and get a waitress with short hair, tatted up, and a scowl on her face.
After arriving, seating ourselves and waiting for a service, a very aggressive waitress came over and right away asked for our IDs. Now, myself and my brother were in work/office clothes and nothing in flip flops or short shorts to convey that we were "kids". This was the FIRST time ever I had been asked for it. I told her that we were not going to order drinks and she rudely replied that they were a 21 & over establishment. Ok, then. I wanted to eat so just wanted to get this over with. I slid over my ID to her on the table and once she saw that i was def over 21, she THREW the ID back to me on the table.
With that, I was in SHOCK! My brother got up and said to lets go somewhere else. She just stood there (im sure pretty pleased with herself that she didn't have to work) and said nothing while we left.
WOW! I still cant believe it. I thought people go to restaurants to enjoy themselves and forget about their busy lifes for a bit NOT to get attitude and get things thrown at them.
I have had another waitress (wish i knew her name) that was so cool and got to talk to before but unfortunately I wont be back to get her.
I am sorry but if management has people with attitude like this, there is no way i will continue to go.
It may have turned out for the better as we ended up going to Tortilla Cantina down the way with a smile on the waitress and sitting near the bar with NO issues.
I really hate to stop going to 1 place bc of 1 incident but I have put up with their slow service and OK food but this was the last straw. Not needed at all!!
Now, i will NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE and deter anyone from going. I really wish I would have gotten the waitress' name so I can talk to the manager but I was just so in shock about what happened!
I love this place decent prices and great food. not much of a singer but i like to come in on wed. thurs. and sundays for kareokee and sing back up. there is also great bands on friday evenings. i have recomended this place to many friends and am happy to say many of them are frequently stopping by now and have become a big of a fan as i am. i would suggest if youre in the area stopping by or even if you have to travel a little it is well worth it for the great ambience and friendly faces
Review Source:I totally do not understand any of the bad reviews about Keegans. I have come to this place for daytime lunches and late night drinks and have always had a good time. The food here is obviously typical bar food... because hello... it's a bar. The pastrami sandwich is amazing... and I love the waitress who totally supported me wanting to add bacon to it.. bacon makes everything better. The drinks are pretty inexpensive... the servers have always been great in my opinion and I love the atmosphere. I will definitely be back at this place very soon.
Review Source:If I could give half a star, that's what this place should get. I had lunch here with coworkers a few months ago, so I admit the atmosphere and food is pretty good which is why they get half the star. However, my office had a get together today after work to celebrate a colleague and they were rude. I took 2 steps in the outdoor patio with my 27 month old son to meet my coworkers in the back corner, and a gal rudely tells me: "You're not allowed in...only 21 and over." She didn't even allow me to go over and tell my coworkers that I can't sit with them cause they're kicking me out. WTH! OK so where's the polite customer service?! Maybe she should have said: I'm sorry miss, our establishment is only for 21 and over but you can go over and let your friends know and please be quick...blah...blah...blah...
It was ridiculous! Maybe this establishment should advertise somewhere that only 21 and over are allowed. Duh! Hold on...there's more! I heard this place also didn't allow the owner of a Mexican restaurant a block away to come in cause they didn't want him to steal ideas. Did I say ridiculous?! Hmmmm....Irish Pub and Mexican Restaurant - Anyone see the overwhelming similarities? Another WTH! Keegan's is not a family-friendly atmosphere but they should still be nice about it. I felt like I had the plague or was being punished for having a child.
ok. check this out. Keegan's is one of the best place to go to when u want to go out, locally. best drinks. best happy hour. pretty good music, specially on the weekends. the downside to it is, my bf, me and a few friends went there to grab a few drinks to drink and enjoy our Friday night.
we were having fun to the point where this one guy who knew a friend of mine. he wanted so bad to hook up with my friend but my friend said no cos she has higher standards and this guy is just plain thirsty. so we just shrugged it off. the next thing we know is that we are getting kicked out. we asked why, and the security said 'he's family.' we're all like WHAT THE HECK? why are the securities at this place handling people's issues just coz their FEELINGS got hurt? seriously?
this place needs to check their securities out or something. most of them are cool. but when u come up to people and defend ur 'family' and kick people out cos ur 'FAMILIES FEELINGS GOT HURT cos of it? your out of the line bro. just saying.
this place has the best happy hour, line of music. THE SECURITY ARE JUST OUT OF THE LINE.
I LOVE KEEGAN'S! I've been there at least 50 times. (I used to work next door) The atmosphere is really laid back. Mike, the bartender, is awesome! They're very friendly and attentive.
The place looks great after the remodel and I love all of their huge flat screens as well as their décor.
They have outdoor and indoor seating as well as a pool table.
Food! I love their chicken quesadilla, it is BOMB! I would also recommend their sampler platter and their tacos, chicken or fish.
The bouncers do not give a hard time unless you give them a reason to, i.e. show up wasted or try to cause a fight. There isn't a strict dress code, however don't show up with a muscle shirt if you have all kinds of gang-related tattoos. That should be common sense though!
The place is great if you want to go out and mingle and just have a good time! They have a great variety of beers and their bar is always fully stocked with all kinds of wine, vodka, tequila, etc.
Do expect a crowd on weekends or events as well as the days we use as an excuse to drink, you know, Cinco de Mayo, St. Paddy's Day, Halloween, etc.
Have fun! and remember not to drink and drive!
P.S. They will call a taxi for you if you ask them to.
Parking- Street parking and the Wells Fargo parking lot next door but only when Wells is closed.
Cover fee- They may charge a cover fee for certain events. I believe it varies but I remember paying $5 on St. Paddy's Day.
After a night with my best friend, Lucia, smoking hookah....we were starving. Lucia said that this place was a great place since there is food, outdoor fireplace, lounge, and a full bar.
There are parking on the street. It is located in downtown Torrance. When you walk in, there is an outdoor and indoor section. The outdoor is basically a lounge with couches, chairs, fireplace, and a place where the smokers can smoke. The indoor section has tables, booths, and the bar. We walked in to the indoor section so we can basically can order the food asap and attack it. It took 20 minutes to get a waitress, but we figured it was because the place was busy. Once we ordered, the food came right away.
* SAMPLER PLATTER: It had a little bit of everything; buffalo wings, chicken strips, fried zucchini, fried mozzarella sticks, taquitos, and 3 dipping sauces. This was a dish you had to have! Everything was good, and made us realize what we liked and didnt like.
* DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER: OMG~! This burger is huge! It was the size of two of my hands together. Lucia and I both got this. It came with 2 giant half pound patties, and a side of steak fries. It was a little dry, but ohhh sooo good!!!
* BUFFALO WINGS: About 5 or 6 pieces of wings and a few carrots and celery. Yes the wings are good, but not worth it for the price so get the platter.
*CARNE ASADA SUPREME NACHOS: I wish it had more meat, and It wasnt as great as I thought it would be because it was missing a view things on the nachos.
Needless to say, the food was good for bar style food. So why the low rating?? It was the service. We had a waitress who came once to refill our drinks. The busboy was more quick whenever he came around. When we asked for the check, we literally sat there for 30 minutes waiting for it. I even went up to the bar to ask for the check, and even tried to look for her! I mean there is only a few tables, so where is she? When she finally came to our table, we asked for the check again and she said she didnt hear us the first time. Umm....ok. Honestly, by this time we just wanted to get the hell out of there! Would I come back? I dont know honestly, this was one of the worst service I ever had but the food does draw me back in. We shall see what the future holds.
For the cigar smoker, Keegan's is the place. Â Plenty of outside seating. Â TV to watch your favorite sporting event or reruns of 90210. Â This and the HT Grill in Redondo Beach are the only two places in the South Bay, to my knowledge, that one can enjoy a cigar and cocktail simultaneously.
Review Source:I tried to book an event there. Â I needed just 1 question answered. Â I was told they'd get right back to me. Â One month later I called again. Â They DID apologize profusely (apology accepted), I reminded them of the 1 question I needed answered. Â Again, they promised they'd call me right back. Â NOT! Â One month later I called back. The person that answered the phone was rude. Â I asked to speak to the owner. Â
The person that swore she'd get back to me twice, was the owner or at least one of them. Â As they say the "fish stinks from the head". Â Our gathering would have guaranteed them around $500 for about 2 hours. Â Apparently they don't need the money. Â We're going to Sulleys, Pockets or the 20/20 instead. Â At least they return a phone call, see the value in us exposing their restaurant to new customers AND they'll be happy with our $500.
I can honestly describe this place with two simple objects. Great engine with bad oil inside. In other words the bar looks amazing and the outside set up is great, but the atmosphere and the people were Rowdy. not a good place to take your first date here. Â couldn't really enjoy my full night with friends because in the 3 hours I was there 3 fights broke out, now I understand why their was always 3 bouncers walking around.
Review Source:My rating is based on the food and service rather than the decor and alcohol prices.
I've eaten at Keegans a few times with my co-workers in the past three months. Â We understand that you must be 21 to order/eat in the Pub. Â We are reminded of that when we make a reservation over the phone. Â
When we first enter the server asks to see our IDs. Â I have no problem with that but, it is the way in which they ask that is a problem. Â How about greeting us, smiling and then asking politely if everyone is over 21 before checking IDs? Â Instead, we get a server who grunts or mumbles to us, in a robotic fashion, checks our IDs and then walks away from the table. Â It is as if they don't want to even get started providing customer service if someone isn't 21. Â I wouldn't write this in a review if it didn't happen on more than one occasion with more than one server. Â
Our last lunch was for a co-worker's milestone birthday. Â The waitress checked her ID as our co-worker said that it was her birthday. Â The waitress didn't say anything. Â No "Happy Birthday." Â No offer for a candle on her quesadilla. Â Nothing. Â
Once the servers check our IDs the service doesn't improve. Â We aren't sure if they are disappointed that we are actually staying and they have to work rather than hang out in an empty bar in the middle of the day or if they know that their tip will automatically be added to our tab so there isn't any reason to make an effort.
On more than one occasion, we have asked about the specials on the board outside (too bad they don't have listed inside as well). Â Each time, the waiter or waitress has steered us away from the specials. Â
The quality of the food is just okay (would have given it three stars based on food without the impersonal service). Â There is a good variety of food options on the menu which is why we come with a large group. Â We've ordered everything from burgers and salads to quesadillas and wraps. Â Nothing makes really drives you to come back but it is all reasonably priced.
Came here to get a pitcher of blue moon with a buddy of mine, don't really know how much the pitcher cost's but i can tell you about the environment. Â Its a chill bar you can either stay inside and get your drinks or you can hang outside at a patio table and wait for service. The service here was actually really good and I noticed they have a really nice rock bed with fire that's kind of like a bond fire pit, but there is only one. The bar was pretty empty for a Saturday night but then again when we went it was like around 11 and we left at around 12 so maybe things were underway just before we left the place. I actually liked this place because its a pretty cool place just to chill to get a bear and talk about BS with friends.
Review Source:Wow, Keegan's classed it up since the last time I was here! The place is not the divey place I remember. Redesigned bar, new furniture, nice patio, everything! What a makeover!
That being said, there is a hint of snobbery. Mostly with the bouncers. For instance, I thought it was strange that you are not allowed to lean against the armrest of the patio furniture. I'm sorry Mr. Bouncer Man, I didn't know and didn't mean to upset you. Aren't they supposed to be watching the doors though? Why are they paying attention to the patio area? And if they were going to pay attention to the patio area, wouldn't it make much more sense to make sure that the fire pit area which was reserved for my friend's birthday would be occupied by only my friend's guests? I mean, she did have to put the entire party's drinks on her tab just to reserve the fire pit area. We were even given wristbands so it would be easy for you to know who was part of the party and who wasn't. Whatever.
Despite that one gripe, I gotta say that Keegan's makes one tasty Sex on the Beach. Getting it at the bar is kinda a chore to get the bartender's attention but the waitresses are actually pretty attentive.
The crowd is an interesting mix of the super young just turned 21 crowd and the super adult late-20's early 30's crowd. There was a section of the bar that seemed to be playing club/dance music where I saw most of the young crowd gravitate to.
Also, the bathroom attendant was the sweetest, most friendliest, nicest woman ever! You would be a jerk not to leave her a tip.
Hardly do I ever have a negative experience at any restaurant or establishment so my review is pretty justified.
Came here for the first time with 3 other friends on a Saturday night for some drinks. I am an avid yelper so I had checked out the place on here before I came it looked pretty good. The crowd that night wasn't what I pictured but hey we were there to have fun!
The space is modern, looks like its been remodeled recently. They have a nice firepit outside and an indoor-outdoor bar setting. Upon arrival we proceeded to get a couple beers, which came in these sad small plastic cups (the kind they give you at festivals) come on really?
Bathrooms werent necessarily pretty...more like pretty dirty. Here is where the bad kicks in....My date at the time who had only 1 beer was approached by a waitress who proceeded to tell the bartender that he was already drunk and was seen stumbling ...where? Maybe to the exit! Well the barender flat out tells my date that he refuses to serve him any more alcohol. Are you kidding me? Furiously I proceed to order one for myself at a back bar...as my date hands me an undisclosed bill because he doesn't like me to pay...I get yelled at by a girl bartender that I better not give him the beer. Really? first of all she is in no right to tell me what I do with my beer. I never said i was buying it for him.
Rudely we were practically escorted out of the place...not that I would want to stay here any other minute if you ask me. As we waited for a taxi outside the premesis a "manager" comes out and says that he took the liberty to call us a taxi...not needed sir we will gladly leave.
Never have I ever experienced this...far beyond professional for any establishment.
It was my first time to check out Keegan's Pub on Saturday night when I went here for Mary C's birthday. Happy birthday Mary C!
Mary had a reserved spot at Keegan's outdoor patio. It was a chilly night, but we were seated in chairs near the pretty stone fire pit. The friendly servers quickly asked us what drinks and food we wanted. I tried their mai tai and split some cheese fries with my cousin. The mai tai was nice, sweet and not too strong . I liked the overall fruitiness of the drink. It took some time for the cheese fries to come out but when they were served it was piping hot and had plenty of melted white cheese drizzled all over. I thought it was interesting that they used thicker, fat fries. The fries were not too crispy and I'm not sure if this is due to the thickness of it. They were still fairly good though. It was plenty of fries for a little under $5.
Keegan's was a nice venue for Mary's birthday because it was spacious and had a nice, relaxed vibe overall. There were plenty of folks but I liked that it wasn't too loud despite all the hustle and bustle of the folks all around. It's always nice to be able to converse and hear the other person :). It really is a cool place to hang out. It was good seeing birthday girl Mary C and yelpers Jacklyn D, Lucy Y, Harmonie T, Erin V and Andrea V.
I can totally see myself coming back here for other events like watching a game or even karaoke (if they still have it!) I read previous reviews there is karaoke here! I didn't spot any karaoke this night but I'd totally come back to belt out some tunes! I love karaoke :).
Lastly, the parking spot is right next door and even late at night, it feels totally safe because it was very well lit. There were also plenty of security folks at the entrance of Keegan's and so one feels totally safe
It's nice to see another cool place in the South Bay!
After reading the reviews and then coming here on a Saturday night, I'm wondering if this place has a split personality. Â More likely, it changed dramatically when they renovated the place I dunno how long ago.
To be clear, there is no hint of dive bar here, the "older crowd" that one reviewer mentioned is nowhere to be found, and the parking lot next door is very safe feeling. Â I don't know if they still do karaoke.
What IS here:
* a huge patio with a mesmerizing glass-filled fire pit
* comfy couches that surround it
* tables and chairs with heat lamps to cozy up near
* a completely open wall that looks into the bar area from the patio
* multiple huge TVs
* good loud music
* A CROWD! Â 20 and 30somethings
* super friendly servers
* enticing looking food (my friend's cheesy fries looked YUM!)
On top of all that you'll find inside, since this neighborhood has pretty much nothing going on at night except for a Foster's Freeze around the corner, there is PLENTY of free parking! Â On the street up and down the block, in the well-lit lot next door, and really everywhere.
So whatever's happened to this spot in the past couple years, it's all working for them pretty well. Â Saturday night here was crowded, and they show UFC fights and other sporting events here, so I'd come back for more of this vibe anytime!
I haven't been to Keegan's in nearly two years. Â In that time, they've transformed it into a really amazing, vibrant bar. Â What used to be a rundown dive bar is now very cool place.
I can't speak for the drinks... every one seemed happy with theirs that I could tell. Â I came because I was wanting some shepherds pie. Â When I got it, it was clear to me that it was probably pre-prepared and frozen. Â If it wasn't, it sure tasted like it. Â The cooking was uneven - one spot was burned and not edible - the rest of the top was undercooked. Â The meat and veg was dry underneath the unevenly cooked potato mash layer.
So, it looks like a great place if you are going to have some drinks and fun with your friends or coworkers, but from this one experience, I wouldn't risk going for something to eat.
The place did a really nice job transforming it from an older traditional Irish bar to a new, upscale looking place with a great outdoor patio, comfy chairs, fire pit, et al.
While it looks nice, it has no hip, swag, or coolness - somethings missing. Â A good something missing is the lack of pretentiousness (especially before and after my visit!). Â Old town Torrance is not the coolest of places, but filled with good local folk. Â Keegan's is no different, and on a Sunday for football -- it skewed older (like 50+).
One beef I have is with the use of their nice set of flat screens, which always pisses me off when music is on rather than the sound of football. I won't go there again for a game. C'mon - I want the #2 combo please, that actually includes BOTH watching AND hearing! The drafts, and the fish & chips saved the day. http://www.yelp.com/biz_…
Great bartender, friendly servers, good pub food, decent prices -- it is what it is, on the OK side of my list. Â The burger, which is huge, is also on my OK 'to conquer' list. Â Overall, fair to midland.
Good place to hangout for a drink. They have a nice outdoor patio. The food sucks, we ordered Buffalo wings it was soggy and chicken smelt weird. And my friend had chicken tenders, which was way too dry, and had no breading it was a batter fried to dryness!
I may go back for a drink since its close to where I live, but will NEVER order food.
Last night, Wednesday... good sized fun crowd (predominantly Latinos), getting drunk and singing karaoke.
It was our 3rd spot for our late night Torrance bar hopping, after Sullys and The Crest. This was by far the best one of the 3 last night.
3 stars.. why?
-The place is newly remodeled
-Outdoor patio is nice.. love the firepit
-Local and fun
I probably wouldn't like it as much if I had not walked in with a buzz and my own hot date.
It's also a great spot for lunch.
This breaks my heart to post a ONE star review. I really prefer to only write reviews for good experiences. But after my horrible experience last night at the "new and improved" Keegan's, I felt compelled to warn my fellow South Bay bar goers to take their business elsewhere.
I have been patronizing Keegan's for over a decade. I have always loved it's dive bar feel, the crazy clientele and the great food and drinks. This place is an Old Torrance institution! So when we saw that renovations were under way, we anxiously waited to see the result... The facility is really lovely. To their credit, the owners really spruced the place up. There is ample outdoor seating with fire pits and the new traffic flow really lends itself to mingling. But that's where the good points end.
With the new and improved decor, are new and improved prices. Okay, okay. I get that you have to pay for all the spit and polish. But, you also cut corners on hiring quality staff. And that is unforgivable. The patio wasn't busy but our waitress was simply never around. So our group of 10 just went to the bar ourselves for drinks. When our waitress did finally make a random appearance, she was unapologetic and downright RUDE. In all my years of patronizing Keegan's I have NEVER experienced this. Perhaps this was just a bad night for the girl, but she made an impression that none of our group can shake.
Bottom line: Keegan's won't be getting our business ever again. With so many great options in Old Torrance now (The Depot, BFD, Red Car, 1321 and the Crest), why bother?
Two stars for the beautiful and inviting patio area which closes at 1:00 am.
Been here a couple of times, probably will NOT be going back!
The first time was for a friends bday, I did have a good time, but the DJ was not all that great and Main Room inside seemed really run down. Â The drinks, CHEAP!! Buy on get the second for $1.00!
This last time was HORRIBLE! Â We get there and almost immediately after going to the bar to order, we are bombarded and almost trampled by these drunk girls hurrying to the restroom. Â They literally were pushing us out of the way! Â An "excuse me" would have been nice!!! They could barley stand!! Â It took all my reservation not to push them back, knowing they would probably fall on their asses!! We got our drinks and went to find a spot to enjoy them, let me tell you, the only place to do that is on the patio. Â Its so nice out there!!
My friends wanted to dance, so we head inside where we were stopped all the way to the dance floor by losers trying to grab out arms and make us dance with them. Â EWL! Â There is about a foot high stage where a group of douche bag looking guys stand, "dance", and watch skanky girls dance with other skanky girls. Â I looked around and saw a sea of under dressed and over sized girls, and guys who couldn't be more off putting. The worst of the worst come here to party. Â So if you're into all of the above, I suggest you come here.
As for myself, i will go elsewhere to sip on some drinks and dance with my friends to a decent DJ.
That is all. :)
Keegan's, Keegan's, Keegan's.....
I've been here many times, it's honestly a fun place to come to and have a couple drinks and dance around a bit. But this kind of place isn't my style of bar... I prefer dive-bars. The price that you pay for mixed drinks, shots, pitchers of beer, are killer on your wallet. I only come to this location when I'm truly bored of every other bar in the south bay.
I totally recommend Tortilla Cantina which is a bad ass dive-bar right down the street from this location.
I came here before the remodel and tried it twice. The place was okay but incredibly run down. It was dark inside and the outside area was not maintained by any means. The service was good but it reminded me more of a dive bar for old men to gather. It just wasn't for me.
Then while catching up with some friends, someone told me that this place was remodeled for the better. He mentioned that food wasn't that bad. I guess it was for St. Pat's day. So with that said, I figured that we'd give it a try.
The other night, my sister, boyfriend and I wanted to drop into Crest for some cheap brews and some grub. Nothing special. But it just was so packed and didn't seem worth the fuss. So we drove over to Keegan's and I can say that I'm impressed.
The remodel is really nice. Once you pull up, you can see some great TVs and this outside area that has made a turn for the better. They have really pretty fire pits and even a covered pool table in the back. I can see how this place may be busy on the weekends. The food was decent - it's just pub food! The beers were reasonably priced. I really liked everything overall. The service was up to par but I mean, we were the only table sitting in, lol. They checked up on us often which was nice. There were some old men there which I wish weren't there just because they gave the place a downer feeling.
The music needs some work. I felt like the stereo system was plugged into a girl's ipod with Adele and Rihanna and a large variety of girly music playing. I didn't mind it but there should have been a more up beat, right?
I'm going to try this place Friday with a group of friends. Hopefully I'm as happy as I am. We shall see!
Came here last Friday to check out my co-worker's friends band. Â They have a little stage that allows small gigs like that. Â The acoustic wasn't bad. Â After their 3 hour set, the DJ started to to spin so there was music at all times. Â
They just remodeled and the ends result is nice. Â Both inside and patio looks good. Â The patio even has a pool table inside a bungalow since it's very spacious.
They have happy hour from 4-8pm every day except Sunday. Â The highlight is $8 domestic pitchers. Â There's a few appetizers for aroudn $2-$3. Â Otherwise their drink prices are average.
My crew and I, there were 6 of us, went to Keegan's on one Friday night.
We walked in around 11:30pm and the place was poppin'!
As you walk in, a grand outdoor patio with flickering fire pits and several warm heater stands greet you. This area is super chill, you can sip on your drinks and sit here for hours, mingling and schmoozing.
We had our first round of drinks at one of the tables out here and it was nice.
We then proceeded to indoors, where music was blaring and numerous people walking in and out. I was delighted and surprised to see how spacious the place was. The dance floor is large and many booth seats with tables surrounded it.
The DJ was awesome that night; he played a lot of old school hiphop and funk, which were all dance-worthy.
My crew and I kept drinking, soon enough formed a dance circle and danced the night away. The dance floor became crowded around 12:30~1am, everyone there seemed to be having a great time.
At Keegan's they make their drinks stiff!!! I had a round of margarita and two rounds of AMFs. Thank goodness I danced my butt off and lightened my buzz, if it wasn't for that I probably would have been wasted.
The huge turnoff though was the crowd. We noticed that a lot of the dudes there seemed to be wanting to pick a fight. Also, older ones wouldn't leave my girlfriends alone. One dude even violently tugged on her arm to catch her attention, as we were on our way to the ladies' room. Aggressive people with no manners! Ladies beware!
Other than that, we had a great time.
I wouldn't mind coming here again with a good group of friends, but I'd think otherwise, if it was an all girls' night out.
I thought it's an alternative to Southland Bar on Crenshaw but with an overall older crowd. It's good to know that we have bars like these to hang out in otherwise boring Southbay area. I can tell it is a locals favorite kind of place.
Keegan's used to be a dive bar but has recently gone through some nice renovations. Â I guess the owner must have seen a few episodes of Bar Rescue and is trying to spruce the place up. Â The inside of the bar is still a little dive bar-ish, but does have a new coat of paint. Â The outside is where you'll find the most significant changes at Keegans. Â Outside you'll find pyramid fire pits and lounge type couches. Â
The crowd is pretty local during weeknights, but it is Old Torrance so you'll have to wait until Friday or Saturday for the action to pick up. Â My friends and I were there to watch Monday Night Football so it didn't matter too much, all we were concerned with was a Big Screen TV and some Monday Night Specials.
Keegans Monday Night Specials are actually their Happy Hour Specials. Â The Happy Hour is Monday-Saturday from 4pm to 8pm. Â They have several appetizers that are more then 50% off. Â You can get 5 Buffalo Wings for $3.75, Chili Cheese Steak Fries for $2.25 and Potato Skins for $3.25. Â All burgers are $2 off, are made with Angus beef and come with fresh crisp lettuce and tomatoes. Â The BBQ burger was surprisingly tasty. Â Domestic Pitchers of beer are $8, while import pitchers are either $13 or $15 (depending on your selection). Â They also offer buckets of 5 domestic beers for $12 and import buckets for a few dollars more. Â
Keegans is definitely a place to go if you just want to hang out. Â They have good drink specials, the bar food is pretty decent and parking on the street is free.
This place wasn't what I expected. From the outside it looks like a simple dive bar. Inside has a dance floor, stage and and outside patio which is newly remodeled. They have fire pits and couches for people to sit.
I have only been here on the weekend but everytime I come here it's a good time. DJ always plays good music. They have hard alcohol as well as a good selection of beers on tap.
Definitely will come back here!
Torrance.
You and I have some bittersweet feelings. I despise driving far for you because in the end all you give me is traffic. However I love you unexpectedly when you surprise me with dive bars in the middle of nowhere, such as Keegan's Pub.
I walked in here one night with friends and needless to say it looked like a house party. The crowd was more elderly but the music was popping with drunkies awfully singing karaoke. I mean thats the best part right? Drunken singing. O_0 Â I also thought I was going to get shanked in the parking lot if alone without friends. No joke, I was scared for a quick minute.
The beers were cheap and I was so witty finding out that a pitcher a beer was 10.00! Thats cheap!! Â Considering I waste almost 6-7 on a small bottle of beer at other bars. Â
One factor I do admire about this place? Â The crowd has no high bar expectations. Â It doesn't matter if you walk in looking like crap, you're bound to chat with someone here. You're bound to have a toast with a group of strangers, you're bound to dance the hanky panky with a drunktard. They make you feel welcomed and accepted.
The inside can use some stiching up other than that this place is A.Ok. I didn't walk out super amused wanting to come back. I did walk out with plenty of funny pictures and the crowd loved it.

If I'm ever roaming the nights of torrance again, maybe ...perhaps... Keegan's will see me again.
Somehow, I find myself driving down a lonely road in the middle of god-knows-where trying to find a bar at midnight.
I'm trolling the streets for a drink. Â Haha kidding, I'm not an alky. Â As a matter of fact I didn't even have one drink that night.
To be honest, the only reason I was here was because I had a bootycall not too far away. Â My friend Jessica wanted me to meet her friend who was visiting so I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Â I high-tailed my booty out of "my friends" house and I'm there. Â Within 20 minutes I find myself sitting in one of the many creaky bar-stools that occupy this bar.
This is the epitome of dive bar coolness. Â No fuss, no frills, no attitude. Â Just awesome karaoke, some cheap drink specials (of which I could not participate) and some drunken fools taking pictures of their country themed humping. Â If this was closer to me, it would definitely be my Cheers hangout.
