A nicely restored theater of 30's vinatage done last year and testing around for an audience. If you have been a Vancoverite for more than a decade you owe it to yourself to check it out. The seating is spaced out and very nice seats have been installed. Â For good and bad a bar has been locaaed upstairs, that's good, the bad is the noise leaks into the theater. The screen size is the same and the sound is not high tech so if your spoiled by Cinetopia, well so be it.
But to me it is about saving a historical piece of Vancouver and if your old enough to be nastalgic about the Broadway theater of old Vancouver well one can be happy about  the Kiggins. As I said, their looking to find their niche in the buisness and the community so there is a lot of experimenting with art movies. independnt, childrens and older, more mature tastes. Cast you vote by buying a ticket. I wish them well.
Just went to the Kiggins for Walking Dead night on Sunday. Which is FREE by the way. The new theater looks great and the concessions are cheap by movie theater standards.
They're doing a great job of keeping their screen full of interesting things to watch, the bar is nice and the seats are now comfortable. Anyone who remembers the old sticky-floor Kiggins will be impressed.
I'll be going back again this Sunday.
