Kiku's is...well...it's...ummmmm.
Yeah. Let's try this a different way.
Ambiance: Kiku's has a beautiful interior, modern chic with a fairly well stocked bar dominating the entrance. Behind the bar are normal dining tables and off to the right are all the flat stove top tables with seating all around. The place is never particularly well lit but it's not a huge deal. There always seems to be several servers and managers milling about, but I never feel like anyone is any sort of hurry to get their tasks done. It's...odd?
Service: I've attended for both lunch and dinner service, with just sushi, stove top meals, and both. Service has always been steady, with attentive enough staff and fun line cooks. I've never had a server that blew me away, but I've never had explicitly bad service here either.
The only service experience that has ever slightly stood out was the birthday perk. We did have a department lunch for one of my coworkers here and they did a cute thing where they took a picture with a Polaroid and provided it to us as apart of the service. I think they threw in a free mini-cake for her as well. It was a cute touch.
Food: The food is nothing to write home about. I usually get the golden shrimp from the stove top (egg yolk atop steamed shrimp), which is always pretty good. Sushi and sashimi are pretty good as well, but the last time I went my sashimi shrimp was really rubbery. Gross.
Kiku has its ups and downs. There's nothing overtly wrong with the place, but there's no wow factor to be found here either. If you're in the area, it's great for lunch. Otherwise? I'd pass on by.
We came here for a friends 50th B-day celebration. We had a great time!! Kiku being  a teppanyaki type restaurant like Benihana was lots of fun! And they seemed to be very patient with us and our large group! Me- not being a Sushi type of girl but I much enjoyed the show of the Hibachi guy throwing around his ginzou knives! The food was very good and the restaurant was very contemporary and clean. There is always something for everyone at Japanese restaurants. It gets very hot around the grille so dress accordingly! There was a fan on the side of our table but I turned it on and was actually a heater!!? So dunno what that was about? I think everyone at my table has never done the teppanyaki thing before so it was a new and exciting experience for everyone!
Review Source:I slipped on what i believe felt like plastic floors. The blonde hostess was very rude and just watched me go down. Not even an, "are you ok". The decor was more to brag about than the food. It seems that the staff is extremely unpleasant. We are going into the Holidays, that alone should put a smile on ANYONES face. I give this place 3 stars for decor ONLY. Food was average. Im here on business, if I were not in the company of my colleagues, I would've spoken to someone.
