Kozmo Gastro Pub

Only been once, but it was the first upscale burger I have ever eaten worth its upscale price.  Solid Mac 'n Cheese too!

The first time I came here I was very impressed, my drink was strong and well made, the service was exceptional, the cheese fondue was superb, and my grits was amazing.  However, I am sad to say that I am feeling very depressed with my last experience.

We went at 7:30 on a Friday night, and it was dead.  This was very confusing as this place is usually packed to the brim. However, we sat at the bar and ordered a drink while they were getting our table ready.
The drink was watered down (and for a martini that's pretty hard to do)

When we got to our table we ordered the cheese fondue.  Now I was really excited about this as
1. Who doesn't love cheese, and
2. Kozmo has FABULOUS dipping bread along with a hearty cheese concoction that I had dreams about.  However, they were out of the bread!!! They told us they had Naan, but pita bread came out instead. I wanted to cry tears of cheese, but I knew that the main dish would make up for it...or so I thought!

I saw lamb chops on the menu and my heart missed a beat.  Lamb chops you say?  Well, I don't see why not...oh maybe because they are OUT OF THAT AS WELL!
Now I am really starting to get the sniffles.  
So I decide to order the fish and chips...because who doesn't have fish and chips?  Well I think we all know what happens next.

I don't get my bread, I don't get the chops, and I don't get the fish and chips.

At this point I'm so agitated I just order a salad and try to escape ASAP.  I ended up going to Wendy's and having their new pretzel bread burger which was delicious and a far better and cheaper option then Kozmo.

I would give this place 1 star but our waitress was really doing her best.

I don't think I will be coming back to Kozmo any time soon (especially if I'm hungry)

A Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde situation:

I went to Kozmo on a groupon over 6 months ago. The experience was fun, the food was good, and I planned on returning again (4 stars). I re-purchased a Kozmo groupon excited to return again. What a Mr Hyde this time around.

We arrived around 8 PM on a Friday night and waited a few minutes to be seated at the bar. I was excited to see the place was still busy (since they need the business up here in the burbs). Once seated we began to look through the menu excited to try the lamb chops and the cheese fondue. This is where it quickly ran downhill. First up, cheese fondue has no focaccia bread. The girlfriend really enjoyed it last time, and they are out of bread at 8:30 PM on a Friday night. Strange, they offer up Naan (which was really just Pita bread). Since I was in the mood for the cheese fondue we got this. I didn't mind the softer bread, but I could see the girlfriends disappointment for this hackneyed replacement. So onto the next  course I felt there was more they didn't have than have. No lamb chops, no fish and chips, and I think there was something else. Fire your GM immediately, how do you run out of pretty basic things (and your star menu items) not even before it is dark outside? This is when the night went downhill as the service was stellar (but the kitchen constantly running out of items was a bit ridiculous). So instead I get the hangar steak again (over seasoned and salted) and the girlfriend gets a salad. At this point the date night meal is pretty much ruined and instead we booze a bit more to utilize our groupon.

I feel like I wasted my groupon since we got food I could have easily prepared at home and felt like they are just aching to turn away people. Had I not been on a groupon I would have probably got up and left as soon as they told us they were out of the appropriate bread for the cheese fondue and then ask immediately what else do you not have.

I am rating this a 2 since I do not plan on returning. I am sad as I really wanted to like this place but poor planning like that has really soured my experience since that was beyond frustrating and led to a bad date night.
