Mama Nena's is kind of confusing. Â I used to get some great meals there but...somehow, they became simply...bland. Â
The chicken is bland...when added to a burrito, the extra ingredients don't add anything to it...just more blandness. Â
The guacamole used to be my fave in the Bridgeport/McKinley Park area but then something changed. Â Bland. Â
I ordered some chicken fajitas and they were good...but nothing exceptional. Â I am sorry to say this because this is a place where you can see the owner work in the kitchen (it's all open so you can see all the action) and you know she's not slacking. Â I'm not sure what happened to that unique home cooked touch. Â
The pico de gallo/salsa is still very tasty. Â The strange thing is that they used to give a small free basket of chips and the stuff...then, you had to order it...then it became free again. Â I just never know what to expect. Â If I don't get it for free, I will always ask for it. Â That one item is worth paying for... Yum.
