Not sure about the other bad reviews. We stopped in and had some steak tacos and chicken nachos and they were as good or better than anywhere else I've been. The chips seems to be fried there so they were very crispy and the red and green table salsas which were sort of smooth and creamy tasted great. The red stuff had some serious heat while the green was my favorite.
Review Source:It has its pros and cons. First of all, the staff is really nice - so that's a big pro.
The food can be a little hit or miss, and I was disappointed that the horchatas were just made from a mix and tasted very watered down.
That said, this place has the absolute best tostadas I've ever eaten in my life. Seriously, they are spectacular. I haven't tried much else here - I just order the tostadas every time.
All in all, this place certainly ain't no El Burrito (greatest restaurant in the world), but man, those tostadas...
My boyfriend and I were out to lunch and there was a wait at Taqueria las Cumbres (our usual spot), so we went here instead because I had a taste for a burrito.
The ambiance was awful and the restaurant smelled kind of... moldy? I couldn't pinpoint it. The table salsa tasted like spaghetti sauce and my boyfriend and I ordered water and our waitress brought out generic bottles of water (not water in a glass with ice... or lime...).
The burrito I had wasn't bad. I ordered a vegetarian burrito and asked to add avocado. There was BARELY any avocado in there. A few squares. However, I must say, I really liked how the outside of the burrito was toasted a little bit. I liked the texture/crunch it gave the burrito. The salsa verde was pretty alright as well. Creamy (unique) texture with a nice kick on the end of it.
I wouldn't go here again. I would put this place on the level of Taco Bell or... below.
My boyfriend said he felt 'molested' after we left, LOL. And that he didn't like the attitude of the waitress at all. (shrug)
La Fogata, more like.... Let's Forget-yah!
We'll stick with TLC (Taqueria las Cumbres).
