My sister and I went there for dinner one Friday Evening. Â It was about 5:30 which we figured was a great time to go. Â My sister cannot stand too long due to her condition and for some reason we waited forever to be seated, I finally had to track the hostess down! Â I would've given 5 stars if it wasn't for that and the fact that our check took forever when we were ready to leave. Â OIY!!! Â The food, however was great. Â The salad was just ok. Â I ordered the Seshuan pasta and it sounded so good that my sister ordered it too. Â Fabulous. Â I want to go there just to have that again. Â Bravo to the cook!
Review Source:I had dinner at the bar on Saturday evening. Â The barter was very friendly and the service was very good. Â
The atmosphere was casual - with a nice view of the lake.
I had an oysters Rockefeller appetizer that was excellent. Â Big oysters with lots of spinach and cheese. Â
For the main course I had a grilled salmon, with mixed vegetables. Â The salmon was large and had a great texture. Â
All in all a great local place, I would go back.

Awesome bar. Excellent food - we are local and you will not go wrong with the Calamari. They do steak here very well. They always have Oysters.
Service is sometimes spotty, but the food and ambiance always make up for it. Desserts are damn good, too.
So, come here. It will be a good night. Or lunch. Or drink.
Hidden out alongside Orange Lake in the town of Newburgh is a lovely restaurant called the Lake VIew House. Resting right on and overlooking the lake, the restaurant has been around for a very long time, and has a very loyal clientele who cram into the restaurant for lunch and dinner all week long. As we live less than a mile away from the place, when we moved to Newburgh a year ago, it became the first restaurant we wanted to check out due to its wonderful location and close proximity to our home.
Well, we weren't disappointed. Seated in the main dining room overlooking the lake (right at sundown I might add), we and our guests treated ourselves to some delicious calamari, oysters, and steamed clams in a garlic & wine broth, all of which were delicious. For main dishes, we had various things off the regular menu as well as specials, like the Carribean Steak & Seafood dish, which included some succulent scallops, a nice piece of seasoned & grilled steak, and pumpkin ravioli in a curry cream sauce; wonderful fish stuffed with shrimp & crab, veal medallions in a gorgeous roasted pepper sauce, and a great red snapper special. The bread was also quite tasty, and great for sopping up the delicious broth from the clam appetizer. For dessert, there is always a ridiculous selection of tasty treats, but kudos to the key lime pie, cheesecake, and anything having chocolate!
There's a nice little bar just off the main dining room as well, but be warned, it gets pretty crowded, especially on the weekends, and if there's one minor complaint, it's that on occasion your drinks can take a few extra minutes to come back from the bar. Otherwise, Lake VIew House is a lovely place in a lovely setting serving high quality food. A varied menu and daily specials, highlighted by plenty of fresh seafood, is always on display.
Enjoy!
We went on what seemed a busy night for Lake View. Â We waited too long for our oysters and fried calamari. Â This was the best part of the dinner. Â While removing our completed app dishes, the server spilled the oyster juice/melted ice over my wife and another dinner guest, no acknowledgment what so ever. Â
The food...
Roast duck, Â the duck was ok, the fruit gravy, something like a cooked jam, like nothing I have ever had with duck, not edible. Â Mashed potatoes, TOO much salt, baked potatoes, small EXTRA dry. Â Salads, obviously make very early the morning of or the night before, browning cuc's and wilting salad. Â Veal in panko crust with reduction, not bad, though it should have been served hot. Â Grouper, looked good, didn't try it, though the folks who ate it said it was good, though both didn't complete the dish. Â Key Lime pie, try again, barely lime flavor. Â Coffee, one cup and a quick check throw down, no offers to refill.
the back room is LOUD.
I went to the Lake View House for Easter dinner with a group of 6. Â The restaurant is in a historic building looking out over Lake Orange. Â The building is charming with a tin ceiling, old wooden bar and prints of old postcards from Lake Orange on the walls. Â We enjoyed watching the sunset over the lake as we ate. Â Orange Lake was quite the tourist attraction back in the late 19th century and even included an amusement park.
The restaurant had a special menu for Easter with dishes ranging from lamb, beef, pork, veal, and fish. I was surprised not to see a meatless or fishless entree option on the menu, but the server gave it to me when I asked. They were also out of the lamb, which was disappointing to many at our table. I had the tortellini dish that wasn't listed on the menu which was acceptable, but nothing special. E  had the chicken florentine, which he said was the best he has ever had. The dishes came with salad with unique dressing options...including honey poppy...which was delicious and a starch choice of rice, baked potato etc.
They a wide array of desserts including key lime pie, apple crisp,  homemade brownie sundae, kahlua cheesecake, bread pudding  and mango sorbet.  The mango sorbet was fantastic and a very large portion.
I would definitely return to the Lake View House in the future. Service was excellent, the ambiance and view of the lake was great and the food was pretty good.
Went here just last night with my family, and it was a mixed bag to say the least. Â The ambience of this place is fantastic, however once that wears off the restaurant doesn't deliver. Â
The place is right on Orange Lake with a great view of it, and thats what hits you when you go into the dining room. Â The owner's wife seated us, who was very nice. Â The menu wasn't cheap, but it had some very interesting things on it that got me excited. Â Paul S. from American Chopper eventually sat down in the room over from us which was kinda cool, although it wasn't exactly the first time we've seen him around. Â The service was pretentious, a bit rushed considering they weren't near capacity, and got worse later on (more on that soon). Â Very few people up here go to places looking for a pretentiousness in my experience, its very odd that so many restaurants up here feel the need to act that way; it just detracts from the experience unless you're one of the characters from the movie "American Psycho". Â
My mom got the pri-fix menu, my dad got off the menu, I got off the specials, and my brother got the chicken fingers (he's practically a connoseur of them now). Â I had a basil and garlic dressing for my salad which did not mesh well at all, as did my dad's gorgonzola and balsamic vinegar dressing. Â My mom's french onion soup had a nice blend of cheeses, but it was way overspiced which supressed the flavor of the onions. Â My dad had the stuffed prok for a main which was ok, I didn't like it as it was lacking in flavor and a small portion. Â However, my mom seemed to enjoy her chicken florentine, even though it had way too much spinach relative to the rest of the dish. Â My brother did not like his chicken fingers, as they were pretty devoid of flavor. Â
My dish was a scallops, lobster, and shrimp raviloi in a vodka sauce with green onions and mushrooms. Â Sounds great, right? Â Not so fast. Â The vodka sauce was good, and the raviloi was obviously homemade, but there was a great inconsistency in the contents. Â There was very little shrimp, the contents were not blended well enough, and there was a lot of filler. Â There were also not enough ravioli, as almost half the dish was mushrooms. Â I only saw two pieces of the onion as well, and the overall flavor of the dish was just ok, but kinda bland. Â My mom got a dessert as part of her dish but didn't want anything, so we shared an apple pie which didn't have enough apple, was very dry and was even weak in cinnamon flavor. Â
So as you can see there was a fairly consistent trend of imbalancing the ingredients and unflavoring here, but everything was still edible and the view was very nice, so this would've been two stars. Â However, my parents came here partially because they had an entertainment card which entitled them to buy one get one free for entrees off the regular menu, which we'd used in the past without any problem. Â However, apparently that offer isn't valid if anyone at the table orders from the pri-fix menu. Â Thus, even though my dad and I would've been eligible if we had come alone, because my mom got the pri-fix we couldn't do it. Â The logic is stupid, but ultimately its not the end of the world as we could obviously take care of the $20 difference. Â What was a big deal was that this pretentious idiot chose to be a dick about it. Â We had a valid question we were asking, and he talked to us like we were children. Â I wished we would've gotten the owners' wife, if for no other reason than to screw this asshole. Â My dad didn't wanna make a big deal about it because thats just how he felt the guy "was", which I do agree with, and instead we left and won't be back. Â Overall a mediocre restaurant with a nice view, but there is no excuse for a server to be rude like this idiot was.
