As I was driving down main street I decided to stop into Las Tunas for a breakfast burrito at about 7:30 in the morning, they had a sign by the door that said free coffee with breakfast burrito between 7-9 AM so i thought that would be a great deal.
Upon walking in I was informed that they were not cooking food right now and would not serve me.
I was appalled by their service and was forced to leave with an empty stomach, even after reading the sign. Don't open your shop if your not willing to serve food.
I will not be back and will refer people to los faroles, el pique, or el taco grande instead depending on their location.
I haven't been back, but last week my mother tried to use our remaining groupon here. She was told they only take groupon vouchers on mondays now, which is ridiculous and a violation of the original agreement. I've contacted groupon and asked for a refund.
Will not be patronizing this place again.
I've traveled to Mexico several times and enjoy trying authentic food while traveling. Â I often hit up food carts for quick bites that are inexpensive. Â I tried Las Tunas a few days ago and I honestly felt like I had been transported to Mexico and was eating authentic Mexican from a food cart vendor. Â I tried the Pupusas, Tamales, and Huarache. The Pupusas were my favorite and amongst the best I've had anywhere. Â The Tamales were also very good. Â The Huarache while good, could've been seasoned just a bit more, but adding some of the homemade salsa verde did the trick just fine. Â
The food was served hot and with a smile. Â In response to reviewers that have said the service was slow. Â It's because the food was made fresh, not pre-cooked like you'll find at several places around town. Â For me at least, I'll hit this place up in the future and gladly pay $3 for a fresh and delicious Pupusa or $1.50 Tamale.
Had a craving for a taco. I went to this restaurant when it was owned by another family. I stopped going when they started to not carry half the food on the menu. These are new owners and I saw a grand opening sign. Decided it was worth a shot.
I entered the restaurant to see that they had done little in decoration since the last owners, but that doesn't matter to me. I was greeted warmly and shown a menu. Tge menu was a bit cumbersome to read, and could stand to be rearranged. I ordered some carne Assad tacos. They were prepared by a woman in the kitchen( in full view of the counter) after a short wait of 5 minutes my dinner was brought to me. I got these to go. When I got home, I sat down at the table, opened the coke I had purchased there, and proceeded to eat.
The tacos were good. Two small corn tortoises warmed on a flat top, with a portion of meat, onions, and cilantro. Alone these made an ok taco. There was wedges of lime on the side that gave a citrus kick to these. The taco's also came with an orange salsa that was a liquid purée with habaneros giving it heat. I would recommend  you don't over do the salsa due to it's liquid nature, to much will run out and make a mess. A medium heat level for the salsa, and very tasty. I would recommend this to someone craving a decent street style taco.
We bought a Groupon for here and decided too come in and try out this new restaurant that has only been open for about a month.
Our first attempt 2 weeks ago to use our groupon failed because they were out of chicken.
I ordered the Chicken Huaraches and a chicken taco.
The Huarache was $4.50 and the taco was $1.25
The Huarache had beans, chicken, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoe and cotija cheese on it. It was DELICIOUS!
The taco was 2 small corn tortillas topped with flavorful chicken, onions and cilantro with a wedge of lime for added taste.
The hot sauce, both red and green were far too spicy for me so my taco was rather dry.
I also ordered the homemade Horchata. The horchata comes in a small 16oz plastic cup 3/4 filled with ice. The Horchata was delicious and I quickly found out that my $1.50 horchata was NON REFILLABLE!!! The horchata was good..but not worth the price without a refill. I would suggest that a sign be placed up to notify customers of this, as the people behind us made the same mistake as me.
Overall the food was good but was rather expensive.
